Pros: The hosts, Robert and Sarah were very welcoming and the rooms were larger than we expected. The continental breakfast was huge. We ate two evening meals and all agreed they were better than the meal we ate at a good restaurant! Highly recommend Sarah's cooking skills.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Pros: The location was ideal for our purpose. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, evening meal exceptionally good. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home immediately, offering us plenty of advice as regards the area.E
Cons: Everything met our needs and expectations.
Pros: Every thing was First Class. The hosts were extremely helpful. Cleanliness was absolutely 100 per cent excellent . .Breakfast was very good. Would go back again with no hesitation.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
Pros: The hosts, Sarah and Robert, could not have done more to make us welcome and comfortable.
Cons: No problems at all.
Pros: Cosy, clean accomodation at a beautiful location. Robert and Sarah are excellent hosts, always happy to help you out. We have had a really nice stay.
Pros: Host were really friendly, very good breakfast. As a pleasant surprise we and our invitees enjoyed an excellent four course dinner (French/English cuisine) including the wine and an aperitif for only 25 euros a person. Great value for money.
Cons: As we are both quite tall the bed could have been a bit larger to be really comfortable.
Located in Roncey, Le Douitel is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Hambye Abbey and Coutances Botanical Garden. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Friendly host and intersting rooms!
Pros: Pleasant, welcome from friendly hosts, comfortable country environment.
Pros: Very nice charming apartment in old rural house
Cons: NO HEATING available...the coldest place I have ever stay overnight
Pros: It would have been lovely to have a kettle in the room to make some hot drinks.
Pros: I loved the remote location and the pleasant owners who were very kind and helpful. Extra blanket was available in the room. Lovely people. Breakfast was croissant, home made jam orange juice and coffee. Simple but fresh and good. Everything was spotless. Wonderful old-fashioned bed. Charm. Very warm welcome. Even provided a coffee for a weary traveler. Excellent from the social point of view.
Cons: At this nightly rate of 60 euros, I would expect the shower tray to empty - it filled up Completely and went over the floor - and I would expect doors that seal. There was a huge gap to the outside. See photo. It was an outhouse door rather than a door for accomodation. The gaps were not insubstantial and caused the room to be very cold. I would also expect there to be an electric heater made available in the room as there was no Central heating. I would also expect a kettle so as to make a hot drink during the night. I had to get up and dress and had to sleep fully dressed in my clothes in August. At a rate of 25-35 euros these things would be ok. But not ok in my view at this nightly rate. I really liked the people and the overall feel however. With some very quick and easy fixes this would be a 9/10. Why they haven't bought electric heaters for each of the three rooms they rent and put on a decent door I don't know. I had to turn on the electric towel rail and spent an hour against it in the middle of the night. It didn't really manage to heat the whole room but it helped.
Pros: Location, The family was great!
Cons: The bed was quite particular! But made us love each other a bit more!
Pros: We had picked this as it was close to Coutance which had a Jazz festival on and we could avoid the crowds, prices and noise etc. Martin and Anna were wonderful and shared their place with us. The room was upstairs and had plenty of room. Shower had lots of hot water and bed was large. We were aware of the note from a previous stayer re cold but found extra blankets had been provided as slept soundly( and warm). There was a great balance between items of use ie Wardrobe to hand clothes, side stands etc and not over filling the room for the sake of making it look good but not be easy to move around. The view from the windows were special, with the fields around being plowed and seeded while we were there. Breakfast next morning was provided downstairs in the main room and was plentiful, with all the standards we had become accustomed to at most places. Coffee, pastries and lots of homemade jams etc.. As with most places we were left in peace but asked the hosts to join us as both spoke good English and were able to provide knowledge of the local area, what roads were like, how did they end up there, what was good in the local area and more. I wish we had had more time to look into the items the hosts had spoken about but so many places to go. We were able to find out about the history of the place and the local area.. After breakfast we sat in the garden and discussed life in the area and what plans they had for the future. We could see over the fields and woods and just relax and hear the birds and farm animals around the area.Family feel in a wonderful We were provided with the history of the place and what the future held in terms of more rooms being finished for home stay. The ceiling had the big beams we came to see in many of the old places and the stone walls which are over half to a metre thick. We were provided with a history of the place before they came and what they had found. Full marks to them as they continue to improve the place for future travellers.
Pros: Quite and relaxing place, clean (a plus in France), excellent breakfast. The owner and his wife are super kind!
