Steigenberger rests on their laurels in Rostock, living from their name, rather than on actual service and quality. Our rooms were 35° when we arrived late at night as, despite having no air condidioning, no one had aired the rooms. The night manager and staff were very helpful, but we had the impression that we had to figuratively twist the arms of several of the day staff in the restaurant and at the reception in order to get any kind of service. Seems to have many new staff. There were two different sets of towels in the bathroom, something which can happen at home, but shouldn't happen in a 4star hotel.
Good location, great room, friendly staff, garage and nice breakfast. Nothing to complain..
The location at the Neuer Markt was excellent. It was easy to reach from the train station on either tram 5 or 6. The elevators worked well and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Umbrellas were loaned for a 10 euro deposit. The hotel facade was striking, and it was easy to pick out the golden sun from the steeple of St. Peter's church. The breakfast bouquet was overpriced, but there was not much else to chose from in the vicinity
Nice - big room with wonderful bed - Thank you
room too warm asked for a quiet room. Got one at the street side where I was confronted with building activities of the neighbours until 1 am and starting again at 8 am. The reception told me afterwards that there are more quiet rooms (garden side) but not for one-night visitors. I recommend them to change their rules wlse I will not come back
The smoke odour in the room was quite heavy
High Standard, Perfect location, excelent staff, excelent breakfast buffet
excellent facilities, friendly staff and easy for routes to get about. no, it was excellent
Good breakfast. Clean, nice room with big bathroom. Nice personel.
Very comfortable rooms and excellent location. The hotel was quiet. The buffet breakfast was very good. Inexperienced junior staff in the reception and restaurant.
Nice room, good location, great breakfast.
Big room. Good location of hotel. Excellent breakfast.
location is quite good.
The location of the hotel was great. The room wasn´t as nice as it was presented in the pictures on booking.com
We visited with family in Rostock. The hotel provides comfortable accomodations at reasonable cost. It is acceptable, not great.
delicious, hearthy and wonderful breakfast included, always sell it with breakfast check out 2 hours more until 12
The location is good. And the good choice of breakfast. 1) The bed in the room was a disaster. King size made of two mattraces was extremely not comfortable. 2) The smell of urine coming out of the toilet / bathroom. Even the closed door did not stop it. Obviously some kind of ventilation problem. 3) No mini bar whatsoever in the room. Not even the tea bags and the small kettle to make some tea.
Location great, close to shops and our business partners. Basic kettle, tea, coffee should be provided. I have never been in a hotel in uk or abroad where this is not available. I object to paying 1Euro for half a cup of hot water! Staff in restaurant were very rude. We were kept waiting 15 mins to book in while the receptionist continued to take phone calls for the restaurant. Then each time we ate in the restaurant we were treated very poorly by the older members of staff, in fact one younger waitress seemed very embarrassed. We watched the service given to other foreign visitors and it was just as rude. So at least we felt better knowing we weren't being singled out.
The hotel was nice and close to the town and people very friendly. It needed to have more information on website to direct people to the reception in restuarant around the corner.
Cosy, calm, good location. I have missed some information in English in the room.
We were just overnight. Room was good, pillow was not a pillow :-)
Near town center Parking for car Small room No English-language tv news channel, Little info in English
cool, not for me. ?
Friendly staff. Very quiet. Nice rooms. Though located in the old town, it's a ten minute walk to the pedistrian street and another ten min to the restaurant and pub area near Doberaner Platz.
Quiet room. Possibility of car parking. Cordial service. I would recomand it
Good location for sigthsseing in Rostock and Warnemünde.Cosy and quite area without traffic.
When arriving at the hotel we had an automatic check in facility and did not see any hotel staff until the next morning at breakfast. We were allocated the top floor which had 65 steps with no lift facility. If we were an elderly couple we would not have made it up to our room. The room was small, clean and had a kitchenette. We had reserved parking, but this was not clear on our information sheet as to where to park. We did park our car, but on check out could have parked in garage, not in an open space in a lane way. The breakfast was simple and plentiful which was inclusive in the room rate. The difficulty in getting luggage from the designated parking area to the room - with the steep stairwell.
It was nere the center and the room was big and a great toilett. And the staff was helpful. A bigger tv and that all the cannels was working. It was lots of stairs. Maybe a shower cabin.
Tidy hotel in city center, very nice staff. Room towards the street a bit noisy due to trams... slept good regardless.
Quiet simple hotel with reasonable rate. Very kind service even for those who don't speak any Germany. Separate areas for non smoking persons.
Nice staff, breakfast was great, rooms were quiet and clean and location is perfect (city center)
The location and comfort. It was a great place to stay.
Excellent staff (very professional and friendly), location and also services as they are part of the Arcona group you can access to the other hotel for wellness center.
Die kleine Sonne is a very nice hotel in the center of Rostock. The stuff is very helpful an friendly. The rooms are very pretty and clean. Beds are comforable and the bathroom was modern and big engought.
Great location, great staff. Super breakfast Parking was in their sister hotel across the road
I was transferred to Steigenberger, Hotel Sonne
free breakfast, very good room rate.
Very good hotel, very nice and helpful staff. The hotel is situated in a nice place in the center of the city. Very good breakfast.
the noise and I missed the air condition
Friendly and efficient staff, perfectly located when coming from a late ferry, tram stop in front of the hotel. Easy to find and very well signposted. Clean rooms with more than sufficient space. Rooms for three have a separate bedroom. Good value for money! Hotel's parking lot was full and therefore not available to us. The neighbourhood is an old industrial area that gives a bit of a scary feeling (though more feeling than fact). Also there is no air-conditioning in the room and opening windows during a hot summer night is not an option for light sleepers because of the tram stop and street noise at one site of the hotel and the intensely used parking lot at the other side.
Secure parking. Easy to find. About the nearest of Rostock hotels to the port. There is a tram stop outside the hotel into the centre. It's a ten-minute walk to good restaurants on the other side of the bridge as the receptionist pointed out to us.
Clean, typical Ibis-esque hotel, nice room, reasonable value. No air conditioning (a typical complaint for German hotels...) and you couldn't really leave the windows open with the main road and tram line outside. No wireless internet access. It's also a good 20 minutes from the city centre (although the trams are cheap)
Price Breakfast for 8 EUR could be better
Very clean place. I arrived late while the reception was already closed. Hence they placed the keys in a box with pin code, that worked perfect.
There was no refrigerator in room. Breakfast is not worth 8 EUR.
the staff were extremely freindly and helpful. there was no facility for eating except for breakfast time.
tram stop outside the hotel door ( 2 stops to town center)
The price and free parking No restorante
