The room. Still smoking facilities. The food The waiters in the restaurant very unexperienced.
Excellent room and good value for money
All personnel at front desk, horeca & cleaning staff were very pleasant and friendly. They were also very clean & neatly dressed. The bed wasn't as comfortable as Sofitel in Gent where we had the best sleep in any hotel in more than 10 yrs. experience.
a perfect place to meet after a long business day and meet with friends
Breakfast was very good with comfortable selfservice. breakfast room was to dark on this raining day
The comfort and facilities were excellent value for money.
spacious and comfortable room, excellent breakfast information of maximum persons in a room is not clear for each package
Perfect Van der Valk service. It was a very nice surprise to find a swimming pool inside.
Rooms are clean and spacious. Staffs were kind. Easy to reach by car. Cost for the breakfast, particularly for kids. The others are all satisfied.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and filling.
excellent all round hotel. very relaxing when coming back from assen tt. would use again. restaurant closing at nine.
One of the few hotels close to Assen motor racing circuit which didn't double its prices for the weekend when there was bike racing on. Large room.
Staff is very friendly, helpfull ands service driven.
front desk was helpful and room was clean and maintained Breakfast staff did not restock food. Hot food was empty. service in this area needs to improve. I've stayed here many times and food and service has declined. Did not have supply in case of forgotten items
Comfortable functonal hotel. About 15 minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby bus stop.
Booked a family room package with dinner and entry to the Emmen Zoo. Excellent service provided for a family with small children. Hotel is on walking distance to Emmen Zoo. Hotel restaurant was very good. Lots of parking space.
Cool temperature in the room. Central heating not functionning. No possibility to get a mobil electric heating. No reaction of the personal
The room was comfortable with good shower and bath facilities. It was clean and adequate.
I like the animal theme in this hotel, I was totally blown away by the food din the restaurant I went for the Chefs reccommendations and my taste buds were electrified
Clean, unassuming but comfortable hotel. We arrived for a rally, and when multiple visitors wanted to have breakfast 30 minutes before normal times, they made an effort to ensure that the breakfast buffet was fully ready at that earlier time.
Good food, Helpfull staff. Lighting in the bathroom was poor
I was staying there for a buisness purpose and since the hotel was near the town centre I choose it. It is a good hotel in general and you can be in the centre of the tow within 15 minutes walking. I requested a room with an AC and one I checked in to my room it didn't contain one, so I requested to change my room and they did, but after one day they shiffted me again because of water leakage problem in some of the rooms!! Another thing is the internet service, they have a T-mobile hot spot in the hotel and the prices are not that cheap, so I feal it would be better if they provided a connection from the hotel itself either free of charge of with differrent prices.
The hotel has friendly staff, is close to city centre and Zoo. Rooms were clean and breakfast was good.
No TV access in the room unless with a special TV key ?
Excellent and very helpful staff. Great location for touring Emmen. Exterior grounds were in rough shape...Interior of hotel was great in all respects!
it was close to everywhere i wanted to get to on business, very hand
Restaurant food is excellent.
We had a lovely stay and enjoyed it very much. The Staff was very freindly and proffesionel.
Large, very good beds. Clean. Quiet rural area. No attention was given to defects in the room that we had submitted.
everything The extractor fan (afzuigsystem?) in the room does not switch off so it was very difficult to sleep. There is also a light switch attached to the bed which has an internal glow light (I guess so that you can see it in the dark). This also stays on all night making it even more difficult to sleep. They are little things but customers having very little sleep is not good for the hotels reputation.
Top quality, helpful staff in beautiful setting
The large rooms in a rural setting was a treat. The food was excellent and the pool and sauna exceptional
Appointments were excellent Staff needs training and management is terrible
Hotel has changed management. No problem. However, it would have been better if regular customers were informed (this website?). No bathrobe etc., Everything a little less luxurious. Free Internet was gone. No sorry from personnel.
Polite staff, espresso machine in each room, good bathrooms and pleasant grounds. Good for a short break. No option of a larger room or mini suite: the workspace/desk was too small for a longer stay and there was no room wifi. The gym equipment was limited, especially for weight training, and the menu was similarly limited. Not good for a longer stay or business use - but this is not its intended target market.
The pool and the surroundings were really great. I didn't stay long enough to enjoy the rest of the facilities, including the restaurant.
Very helpful staff. Excellent food. Hotel was awkward to find as I did not download a suitable map (!) but a phone call soon got me there.
Thought the hotel was very good value for money. the staff were very accommodating, putting breakfast on early especially so we could get to the TT race on time, and check out early. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Bar/restaurant downstairs was very good, especially the burger!
Location, free Wi-Fi, nice staff, very tasty coffee for breakfast)
It was very nice to have the stores and the zoo so nearby as we did not have a car. We were visiting family and there were many places available to go and have a cup of tea. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant as well. Breakfast was nice. There was noise at night as people walked by outside.
Very friendly, helpful, multilingual staff. The room was comfortable with plenty of space for the three of us. The location is perfect, right in the center of Emmen, with many restaurants, frequent farmers markets, right by the entrance to the zoo, close to the train and bus station, and convenient to walking and biking paths to the surrounding countryside. Airconditioning has yet to be discovered in Holland.
Friendly service, nice bathroom with bath and nice breakfast.
Good location, friendly staff, good value for money
Great central location, only a short walk to the zoo and train station
position to zoo, shops & restaurants room very hot
Friendliness of staff
Excellent service and hospitality from manager Mrs. Renate Vink and her staff. Been a regular at Hotel Buxus for the last 6 years or so thanks to the annual Superbike and Supersport races in nearby Assen. Will be back again next year so Mrs. Renate Vink has already marked me down in her calendar.
The quietness and relax surrounding
Nice place to stay. We will visit them next year during Superbikes Weekend in Assen!!! None
Meals were realy great
The restaurant was very good and popular. The restaurant was non-smoking - this meant that the smokers stood outside to smoke. The problem was this is right outside the door to room 1 which was the room that I was in.
My stay at the hotel was very short (one night), but the staf I talked to was very nice and they gave us hot water for tea to our travel home for free.
Nice and friendly staff. Nice restaurant. Screaming guests in the middle of the night. Small tv at large distance of the bed.
the hotel was perfect in every way. staff . location. etc .etc
Very freindly atmosphere and good service It will be good for the guests, if they were informed, that they have to order meal from the restauration in the evening forwards - before 1200.
We had a very relaxing stay and an excellent meal. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Hotel itself is nicely detailed. Difficult to find any faults
A very quaint yet elegant hotel in Odoorn,Netherlands. The facility was so comfortable with a wonderful staff that was willing to go above and beyond to help you. Don't look for food outside the hotel as the restaurant was wonderful and the "chef's surprise" was amazing.
The restaurant! Somewhat noisy rooms, tiles outside door contribute besides too early cleaning staff. Ah: weekend breakfast until 10:30, weekdays untill 9:30 but easily extended if not too busy.
Food was excellent. Staff in restaurant and outdoor patio were superb. Laundry was submitted in the laundry bag and returned crumpled in the same bag. If it could not be ironed then I felt it could at least be folded properly.
Very relaxing and peaceful hotel set in a lovely village atmosphere
I selected this Hotel for the race in Assen because of the location of the Hotel. It turns out to be an excellent atmosphere and good service (especially with Rob). I definetly recommend it.
Very very good restaurant
Easy to find very relaxing Good food No
Very good hotel, extremely friendly staff!
Rural location + ground floor private terrace (room opened on to garden). Breakfast excellent (variety and quantity), but poorly organised (meant waiting while waitress kept returning to kitchen to replenish the buffet as initially not enough coffee, milk, rolls, boiled eggs, etc had been put out). Odd too that a glass of fruit juice was brought to your table - while the rest was buffet style! Restaurant: extremely slow service with a very long wait for each course (meal lasted nearly 3 hours) - we left without taking a dessert (too tired!). Cooking ("nouvelle cuisine") was excellent, if a little expensive. The focus seemed to be on the food and the cooks rather than the guests (we were there to appreciate their skills and had to accept the wait).
Nice small hotel, friendly people. Just 1 thing missing: hairdryer.
It's cozy, friendly atmosphere and staff. Breakfast is excellent. The staff is attentive and fast, even late in the evening. The beds are just a little bit too short for me: I'm 1m96 (almost 6'6"). The city of Exloo should be very much ashamed of themselves for letting the works on the roads be delayed like this. The hotel is difficult to be reached and the streets are a mess and should be fixed sooner than later. Fortunaltely, the hotel staff handles all related problems with care.
lovely converted barn in pretty village with spacious room and good breakfast I believe the enjoyment of our stay would have been much enhanced with the provision of air-conditioning in the bedroom.
We felt extremely welcomed when we arrived after our long journey. They offer a very personal, friendly service. The food was excellent. The general atmosphere was very relaxed and the hotel is situated in an idyllic region.
We loved our four poster bedroom with spa bath. We also enjoyed the delicious food served at breakfast and dinner. The staff were very happy and obliging. I would stay there again and would recommend to anyone. The location and cleanliness was very good. I did not like paying for everything (e.g. food and drinks bill) at the end of the stay along with the accommodation bill - I like to pay as and when I have a drink or food, so I can tip at the same time accordingly. Otherwise, no complaints, the stay was memorable and enjoyable.
The hotel is excellented renovated, and very nice, although a bit far from a city Prices in the restaurant is too high, according to what they offer
It was close to where we wanted to go but most of all the couple who run it were absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We didn't stay for long enough !!!!!
We were traveling with our 8 month old infant. The hotel did not have a crib available so they put us in a room with an extra bed at no additional charge to have a bit more space. Based on reviews, we were expecting a night of relaxation and excellent service, with a lengthy meal and drinks in a natural setting. However, we were rushed through dinner and were not even given menus to choose our food. The initial food they gave us was bland and not at all what we had in mind. They did then agree to make something different - a fish to share which was tasty. Then we were completely ignored for the rest of the evening, and were charged for everything despite the original food being taken away without having eaten most of it. We felt very unwelcomed and regretted that we chose this hotel. We never got any apologies, just arguments. Oh, and our room had many dead flies...
On my trip to Landgraaf I found this hotel wich had a very nice staff. It was clean rooms, a good resturant in a nice garden. I can recommend this hotel.
Kind people and good room
its a small but very stilish and nice hotel. its value for money! Amazing breakfast for a small hotel. -
How very clean the hotel was. Not having Airconditioning
friendly service, good breakfast, accommodating to special requests I did not like that I had to call (with a foreign mobile) to have the host come and check me in to my room.
Very Quiet. Convenient close to super market.
comfortable room on the groundfloor with outside terrace / small scale hotel only a few rooms no restaurant facilities nearby
Very relaxed and informal, location in countryside (farm), nice dinner, I assume great for families with kids. Bedrooms a bit oldfashioned but okay.
Location Breakfast, no tea or coffee making facilities, we stayed for four nights and room was not cleaned once during our stay nor did we have clean towels each day
The personal approach you get in a truly family run place. A little bit too informal, family life spilling into the hotel.. kids eating soft boiled eggs in the reception.
very friendly staff and really excellent, value-for-money food.
Very friendly and welcoming staff, great food, clean and tidy. Would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the rooms
Really sweet staff, very good service and very nice breakfast. The hotel looks beautiful and the area is perfect to relax. The curtains of the bedrooms are too thin so you awake at 6h in the morning with too much light in the room and the windows don't isolate enough, so you hear the birds singing really loud and all the time, so you can't sleep anymore. The pillows are very uncomfortable, I had pain in my neck for some days after.
