Pool and spa was really nice my husband loved the golf course Terrible food and service... DID NOT GET MUCH SLEEP AT ALL!!! poorly insulated rooms!
The Facilities The house keeping staff has to improve cleaning of the bathrooms and pool showers.
Resort is nice but in need of cosmetic facelift.
Room service breakfast was delicious, minus the fried unseasoned potatoes. Bed was soft and comfortable. Carpet and furniture are dated. Bathroom floor looked dark and dirty.
Breakfast buffet was excellent, except our waiter was kind of forgetful. Fireside nook in lobby was an excellent place to have a drink or chat with friends. Staff tried really hard. Towels were okay. Bath products weren't bad. The place is mid-renovation. Most of it looks dated and bland. The hall we stayed on didn't have that problem, but it did smell very strongly of glue (carpet or wallpaper I'm not sure). Our room also had a strong and unpleasant odor. The sheets were very uncomfortable, and the duvet was covered in a flat sheet top-and-bottom which ironically made it much less soft to the touch. Walking around the hotel felt like walking through a combination community college and office building. Probably the least inviting building I've seen for a "luxury resort" ever. Spa lacks surge capacity to accommodate walk-in guests during a busy weekend. Breakfast shuts down on weekends before brunch hours, and even with three other restaurants (total of 4 on the property), none of them serve brunch foods on a Sunday after 11am. Unfortunately this resort isn't close to anything, so if they don't serve brunch in the building, you can't get brunch without a 15+ minute drive. Staff tried hard, but the place gives them nothing to work with. If you're not a golfer or planning a conference, avoid this place. This is not a good resort for a luxurious or romantic weekend.
I cannot tell you how wonderful your staff really is! They are so attentive, friendly, helpful, and treated us so nicely., The concierge was GREAT!!!! The staff made our stay perfect. No big deal - but the light bulbs in the ceiling fixture were burned out. Also you might give information to guests about how to dim or brighten the light in the bathroom. Took us forever to figure it out. After calling down...we found the little place on the fixture to move to brighten the light.
Loved the peaceful charm, beautiful views, multitude of activities, and equestrian theme of the hotel. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Guest rooms are superb and located far enough away from the pools, tennis courts, etc so that they are quiet. We took advantage of several activities at the resort, and loved sitting outside on the back terrace. About a 15 min walk into downtown Middleburg, which is highly recommended to check out the local shops and restaurants. Biggest drawback is the expense. For a 2 night stay, including zip line tour, massages, and meals at the resort (for which we had Travelzoo coupons), we spent about $2000. Would love to be able to enjoy the resort more often, but just not financially possible for us to do so.
The high quality of the furniture and food The constant fighting of dogs in the sitting area, hallways, and lobby. This resort is TOO dog-friendly. Guests are allow to have their dogs in these areas. The dogs constantly bark at other dogs, the couches reap of dog smells, and the dogs constantly smelling other guests. Anyone allergic to dogs definitely need to STAY AWAY from this resort.
The Salamander resort provided a wonderful site to reconnect with my family as our daughter was home for spring break. We even brought our pup along and she got the royal treatment -- greeted with a doggy treat, photo op and placement in a patio room with easy access to the walking trails. The resort location was ideal. It's one of the few resorts that's a short drive from our home - so traveling in didn't take away from relaxation time at the spa, on grounds for a trail ride or taking in a swim. The cooking classes were also a great bonding event. There were a number of onsite activity promotions offered to those booking through the resort or from independent dealers like Groupon. I wish your online booking would partner up and extend these perks as options when reserving online.
Nothing * no ice in ice machines, Missing 50% of light bulbs , not handicap friendly, one room w/, one room w/o refigerator, a/c did not work in room 250, over priced cocktails, key failed to open door E-2 3 days in a row, towel service not consistant, had to call for housekeeping on the 3rd day (beds not made)
Clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Love the historic aspect of it.
The accommodations were inviting and the room was lovely. The desk clerk was helpful and provided service with a smile.

Pls note that the hotel is just off the route 7 (but no road noise); on the outskirts of Leesburg. A short distance from Leesburg outlet village. Leesburg is well worth a visit. The bedrooms were reasonably good, but the corridors are looking tired. The restaurant and bar are a bit dated; especially as there is nothing else within walking distance.
Very convenient to both DC and other Historic sites. Quiet rooms andfriendly staff Their Busness Center was very poor. The printers did not work and could not get much help to get return E-Tickets. Spent two hours trying to retrive my schedule. Finally got them printed the day we left. Their excuse was no toner on two printers. Also they could not find my reservation until the next day

The "to go" breakfast packs were awesome. It's listed as being near Dulles airport, but it's actually about 40mins away.
The shower was very weak and freezing cold. The 'hot tub' was cold and the pool had too much chlorine.

Clean, good location. Bed was like a slab of concrete. I like a firm mattress, but... Premium channel, for which they put the little monthly booklet in your room, didn't work. Nice HD television, but most channels were not HD. I find it hard to believe a hoity-toity little town like Leesburg would have substandard cable service.
Convenient to Northern Virginia for sightseeing.
I opted for the spacious room with extra towels. The hotel accommodated me with a king bed and living area with fridge and microwave. The room was very clean and was already stocked with the extra towels when I checked in. The people behind the desk were very efficient. Nothing to complain about. Nothing.

I can't even tell you how surprised I was at the value in this property. Have stayed in Homewood Suites before but this one is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Decor is nicer than many hotels I've stayed in within large cities such as NYC, Chicago, etc. Will definitely stay at the hotel the next time i'm in the area, as well as suggest it to others that I come into contact with.

The suite was more like a one bedroom apartment, with full sized refrigerator, dish washer and microwave and two burners. The unusual (and welcome) feature, was a door between the living room/kitchenette and the bedroom. The living room had both a coutch and essentially a chaise lounge. The breakfast was excellent, and although we didn't eat the evening meal offered 4 night a week it looked good and the menu posted on the frig did not repeat for a month. Free beer and wine was served with dinner. The staff was excellent. I would go out of my way to stay in a similar hotel.

The room decor and color scheme (red, black & white) were very attractive. The layout of the room, including the kitchen, and the couch made it very comfortable when my niece and her family stopped by for a visit.The desk clerk even gave us an extra popcorn for the kids. We had a great night's sleep. Breakfast included many choices, all good.We would definately stay here again.
Nicely decorated, very clean. Staff was very nice and friendly. Rooms are large and comfortable. Overall a very nice hotel, but I would recommend curtains that close to block out the parking lot lighting.
We drove to your hotel from Williamsburg to tour Harpers Ferry and also go white water rafting. We were very pleased with our room, the adjoining restaurant, the fitness room (which I used) and the large breakfast. Also appreciated the free cookies, coffee and newspaper. Thank you for contributing to a fun weekend for me and my family. Can't think of a thing!
Good location, bed and room were fine. Breakfast was great!!!!! Cloudy pool, way too much chlorine. Strange that some rooms (including ours) were in the first fooor "basement" area.
The Tavern was pretty cool. Open till 1am kitchen open till 11pm. Good food! Great People! Karaoke night! Hotel has friendly staff! Wouldn't Change a Thing!
Tell tale sign upon entry. Fan in foyer blowing out so leaves wouldn't fly in resultin in large blown leaf pile where guests would enter. No staff appeared to think it their job to take up and remove leaves--should have left right then dated sad hotel.
The grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed reading in the Adirondak chairs on the lawn. We lucked out and had excellent weather. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The room we stayed in, Locke's Nest, needs to be upgraded. The furniture is in very poor condition. Internet access is poor. The shower pressure is poor. The decor/furnishings in the common areas were not what we would expect for what we paid either.
The king size bed was great and the AC worked. Plus, there was wifi. And it was very cheap. The bathroom was dirty and it looked like nobody had vaccuumed in a long time. There was no phone, which seemed odd. The curtains don't close completely and need a clip or something weighted to keep them shut. Also we found a bug that looked a lot like a bedbug, which was worrying. I wish I'd spent a bit more money on a nicer place.
Closeness to casino. Angela the front desk clerk was rude and ignorant. If I had not already prepaid for room, I would have not stayed there. I called to change my room preference and she was practically screaming at me over the phone that she didn't know how to do that. When I got there there were only about 10 rooms rented!! There were bugs in the room, the remote didn't work and the bed and pillows were terrible! Worst stay I have ever had in a room! Stay anywhere but here.
