The hotel was fabulous. The pool and spa are a must. The food is excellent. If you enjoy golf, you'll be in seventh heaven. Breakfast is outstanding. The Powerscourt gardens make for a pleasant day.
Set in wonderful scenery, nestled in the Wicklow Mountains. Very comfortable rooms with state of the art touches i.e. touchpad for lights/curtains. Wonderful pool, spa and gym. Also great for golf lovers with course over the road. Overpriced breakfast, even overheard staff recommending lovely cafe's in nearby village.
the fountain overlooking the valley
There was plenty to do and see on the grounds but best of all, the rooms and bathrooms were beautiful. The bed was so comfortable I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud! nothing - awesome
friendly staff, lovely surroundings wasnt pleased having to pay for internet in lobby.
This is the second visit to the hotel, we found the staff very helpful I did not like the cobwebs in my room 119 on the lampshade and the ceiling. There isnt any shop for incidentals you might wish to purchase.
Very relaxing, comfortable and peaceful surroundings.
Excellent in all respects.
the rooms were very nica and the staff very friendly and helpful no
The facilities for the children, particularly the hour's golf tuition that was available through the childrens' club.
Set in Irelands Garden County, you've the best of nature at your finger tips. Fantastic setting, lovely staff, nice pool for kids.
Staff were very friendly and the facilities were excellent. Check in was both prompt and welcoming. The safe did not work in the room and the TV remote was most complicated - possibly me but not just a simple switch on.
The spa and the friendliness, the willingness to go the extra mile.
the location is great and really enjoyed our stay minor things like not enough attention to detail of items in bedrooms ie cups coffeeand such like Breakfast could have been hotter and hot food not served buffet style
The hotel is very centrally located and close to all ammenities. The rooms are a good size and clean. We were at the back of the hotel and even with the window open, there was no noise. I would thinks rooms at the front would be noisy. The service at breakfast was poor. We oredred coffee and it took 2 more requests and 20 minutes to get it by which time we were nearly finished eating. There was supposed to be music on in the bar both weekend nights andthere was nothing on either night. Some of the public areas are a little worn with threadbare carpet.
Nice peaceful hotel. Very pleasant staff.
Great hotel where everything works. Good choice of food in the bar and at the gourmet restaurant.
Peace and quietness proximity to golf shopping scenic walks the relaxing atmosphere in hotel and leisure areas good food.
Great facilities, pleasant staff and reasonable good value for money
swimmingpool and breakfast close to motorway (noise) rooms not on 4* level, no minibar, outside spa broken, restaurant atmosphere cool
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Fan in our bathroom was very loud and did not go off ,we were given another room which was much better .We thought the food in the restaurant was overpriced for a very ordinary menu. The conservatory menu was a little better but limited choice and fairly expensive.
The hotel was very quiet with a butyful garden. Staff was kind and attentive. Dinner was ok. The bathroom was very old fashioned (two different output for cold and hot water) and at breakfast I've eaten some nuts that were not very fresh.
helpful staff, very pleasant surroundings/countryside. Warm breakfast, needs to be kept hotter
Our original room was disgusting, it was small, stank of smoke and the outlook was awful, however, on request we were able to upgrade (at a cost to us).
Im sorry but absolutely nothing I have stayed in many Best Western hotels and this has to be the worst.Actually this has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in period. The photos of the rooms are a complete lie, they are either a completely different hotel or are some 10 years old.I had damp dark stains all over the wall, the floor was dirty, the settee was black with grime and my seaview window I can only presume looked over the sea as the window pain was completely covered in bird excrement, feathers and general dirt. These windows must not have been cleaned in months. The next day we also had to go to another hotel to get a coffee as the bar did not open until six.The only positive I can find is that the bedsheets were at least clean.
The facilities and the food was excellent
we really enjoyed our stay the hotel very clean and the staff so friendly . the food was exellent buffet breakfast and the evening meal was very good Esplanade Hotel On The Seafront great place to stay we just had 1 mishap as someone set the smoke alarm of in the early hours of the morning and work us up and we couldnt get back to sleep but i guess these things happen
we were in dublin as a group of 20 for a martial arts competition and our stay couldnt have been better.will return next year
the hotel is very good value and has a plesant atmosphere
the seaview, its close to dart so shopping in the city was made easy. parking. the hotel carpark was not easy to find if you missed it you had to drive around the block and try again due to a one-way system
peace and quiet good food service good hotel overall very good ererything ok no complaints
fantastic location, very nice decor, good staff
The bedroom was large and plenty of room for a travel cot.
nice small hotel...food was lovely, great base to explore wicklow tv in room was broke kept hiring up and lowering down on its own then a couple of times during the night tv came switched on its own..went for meal earlier told reception about it said they would fix it but never got arond to doing it,although they did offer a new room but it was near midnight so there was no point in changing rooms...still an excellent hotel ive stead a few times and will again
Beddings comfortable + quiet No toilet brush
Friendly, very new and fresh decor
The room was fabulous. Yes I had booked months ago and my sister got a room on the day at the same rate but which included dinner, ours didn't. We had booked a morning call for 10am but we didn't get it 'till 10.10am and we were late for breakfast. Also the heat in the corridors/rooms was excessive
The hotel was new, comfortable and quiet. Ideally situated for the event we were attending. The rooms were amazingly large and luxurious and very reasonably priced. It would have been nice to have a biscuit with the tea making facilities - but that would have been the only problem and easily overcome by a visit to the shop next door.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and polite. The receptionists were most helpful
we enjoyed our stay in the parkview hotel.the rooms are very comfy and clean.the evening meal and breakfast were very tasty and the staff very helpful and pleasent.i would stay there again. liked everything
I had my wedding at the hotel and the staff were excellent. The food and service were superb.
We found the staff both helpful and friendly, especially the reception staff who always greet you with a smile. The bed size was also a bonus, being over 6 foot.
Luxurious, especially the great reading rooms with fireplaces.
Quite and peaceful with "a far from the madding crowd " feel about it . We found it very relaxing . first morning the breakfast service was very slow .......not that we wanted it express but it was particularily slow .
Everything was perfect. Location is gorgeous, the hotel is a very beautiful old manor and the room was big sized and very comfy. Although it's an old house, it is well kept and clean. The restaurant was very good too. The staff was perfect with us during all our stay. it was a very good value for money. No complains. And the room view was great too. I strongly recomend this hotel. No complains
good, relaxed atmosphere. over priced bar
Beautiful building & decor with old world charm, relaxed welcoming atmosphere, attentive Staff The hotel & staff were wonderful couldn't fault. If i had to mention something maybe a spare blanket in the bedroom please for the colder of us especially in the winter....
Traveling to Carnew,County Wicklow,Ireland from Canada,to visit family. Unfamiliar with roads, route etc. the Coach house is right on a main road, easy to locate and we were given directions to our family in Carnew that saved us time. The owners were extremely warm and knowledgeable about the area and made us feel at home from start to finish. Breakfast menu had something for everyone and you knew they would cook to any dietary needs. Greeted with smiles and a hand shake and said good bye the same..I would recommend staying here for value in every way..
What's not to like? From the friendly & warm hospitality of Mick & Barbara to the decor and ambience of the house, I loved it and will definitely return. I liked the presence of pets about the place too...very homely feel. I was sitting outside on the 2nd evening and Mick came over to ask if I would like a complimentary glass of wine. Very nice touch and I gladly accepted. At the Old Coach House they operate an "honesty bar" in the guest lounge, this was good because my friend & I preferred to return to the beautiful lounge for a nightcap & a chat. All in all, possibly the most welcoming & charming guest house ive stayed in to date. No complaints
I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and the food was excellent
It was very quiet
The value distance to town but not a problem if you have a car(and dont drink)
friendly helpful staff
Friendly staff and good food - great value
The beds were comfortable and for the most part, it was fairly quiet. The blowdryer caught fire our first night. Our last two nights were in a room on the inner courtyard and there was no adequate ventilation. Airconditioners or fans would have made our 2nd stay much more comfortable. A.so, the price for the breakfast was overpriced. The express breakfast could have been more a "continental" style offering a choice of breads, juices, toasts, yoghurts.
Spacious comortable family room. Excellent value for money for a family stay as rooms can accommodate up to 5 guests. Broken shower head in bath room and drinks machine located outside our door!
the staff wherenice and helpfull My room was on the top floor got very hot and when i opened the window the noise from the road was very loud
We had a superior room which was excellent, large, clean, superb bathroom, good power shower, large bed, crisp, clean linen, no fault at all - but it was a new hotel.
We were very impressed with the space and the furnishing of the bedroom The room was very dark- no centre light, difficult to see to work
Good Food, nice facilities Would have been nice to see more Irish employees
The location of the hotel is excellent and it has good leisure facilities Queues at check out with only one person dealing with guests
The staff at the royal are all very helpful and extremely friendly Having stopped at the royal several times I was a little disappointed with standard of care and attention to detail that we have become accustom to on our previous visits. ie: The room carpet was badly marked and dirty, the bed cover was stained and damaged, it appeared that the only areas being given this attention to detail were the recently refurbished areas
swimming pool was great for the children & the room was lovely and warm.
Smoking catered for Long delay gaining late evening access after midnight
The staff were friendly. This hotel was disgustingly dirty. I have stayed at hotels all over the world and have never had an experience quite like the Royal Hotel. Dirty towels, mould growing on the inside of the window. Cramped room. Dirty sanitary towels in our bedroom bin on arrival. I ended up checking into a different hotel it was so bad.
comfortable, quiet and clean room. Great breakfast and friendly and helpfull staff. Nothing.
location staff wasn't too interested about any query or problem
The Leisure Centre
very warm & friendly - we have a little boy, and the staff treated him with respect and nothing was too much trouble - he enjoyed it so much, and when he's happy we're happy
It was quiet, charming, and in a lovely location The pub next door is owned by same people, didn't have as much on their menu as we had been led to believe based on sample menus on their website and despite winning numerous awards. The food was good, just not as much variety as we were expecting.
I arrived late and the staff could not have been more helpful. Served me a late meal without fuss. Bed excellent. Better breakfast services than first time. More customers but more staff - looked as if they had manned up
good bed and rooms reasonably comfortable but not quite at the standard I expected Pace not good for a business person who wants a quicker service and is short of time. Facilities closed when I arrived after 9pm so no swim. Also facilites spead arround and in nonn-connecting buildings
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - the room was poorly outfitted and the restaurant was fixed price and not good quality food. The rooms and the restaurant
Beautiful location. Fabulous wedding venue. Wedding meal was excellent. Great facillities. None!
nice surroundings, nicely furnished rooms, good facilities the breakfast could have been better. There was no cheese or cold meat on offer. A buffet would be better than the waiter service. The place is good but way overpriced. Paddy's in the village serves excellent food at a fraction of the prices the Lodge charges
We were tired from our trip (drive) and so had dinner in our room...room service was excellent and the food was very good. The follow morning we had a full Irish Breakfast in the dining room...an wonderful introduction to Irish cooking.
It was a relaxing and comfortable overnight stay. We enjoyed it very much No, everything was good
The food and spa were lovely and the staff were very friendly. At this stage the rooms are very dated and not what I would expect from a hotel such as this. Also, I was only offered one small towel in the spa and in addition there were no hairdryers in the changing room which was shocking.
Food was fair, not good value, drink expensive .Shower lukewarm. We were staying after wedding reception. Breakfast adequate, but nothing special for price. No home made brown bread.
it's a nce golf club surrounded by nature. Very nice to walk in the woods listening to the birds singing Unfortunately you can see the difference staff treat golfers and "normal" people
Great Hotel .. Liked it very much
Friendly staff and good service. I felt it wasn't quite a 4 star rating as advertised, however we still had a pleasant stay.
Stylish but comfortable Reception area somwhat impersonnel on first viewing but a lovely real fire in evening to sit by after eating.!
my husbund and i went for overnight stay we were upgraded to a suite which was out of this world . looking out on the lakes nice quite place to go to get away from city and if you like golf its even better will go back very soon not a thing
The hotel itself was great with great food in the Elk bar. The view outside our suite was of the country side and the golf course which was fantastic. Will be back soon hopefully. Unfortunately the other bar in the manor house was not open all day to explore later, so we stayed in the elk bar for food, but was missing music during the evening time.
The standard of the room was excellent. Staff were helpful, pleasant & friendly & the location was superb The food quality could perhaps have been a little better
Staff very friendly & efficent - could'nt do enough for you. Lovely walks. Restaurant very nice with good views. No leisure centre or spa. Breakfast could have been a better choice.
Lovely setting, good food, clean high quality room. Very disappointed the hotel only opened at weekends. They cancelled our Sunday night booking 1 week before we arrived.
Very pleasant and helpful staff, food excellent, relaxing and peaceful surrroundings, very scenic area, good for the golfers.
The staff were really nice and the food was excellent. It was very reasonably priced. n/a
Location & price Dirty bedcover, no hot water and heating was left on all night. I also had to carry my luggage up a couple of flights of stairs.
Location, Apartment within the hotel very handy Workmen fixing lights, no lights on dark corridor, carpets were very dirty as result of workmen, mattress lying on the stairwell, dirty dishes & glasses left on corridor - quite suprised about the cleanliness or lack of... I would like to think this was a once off and the hotel usually keeps better standards !
very good value for money clean spacious with good facilities and excellent food.
The reception staff were friendly. The hotel did not have many guests but the bar was very busy. I requested a 'quiet' room on check in and I was given a nice 'appartment' at the back of the hotel. The hotel has a lovely view from the front terrace over the Bray Bay and it is next to The Porterhouse brewpub.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar was comfortable with a good selection of food. The hotel was central and a good location. The hotel need refurbishment as it is very dated. There are no lifts and very poor access for those with disabilities.
the receptionist gave us a family room even though we booked a double room with no extra charge, which was really nice, it is right along the beach and the town is only 5 mins walk, it had a really busy bar and they gave us a quieter room because we had a young child with us which was great the room was really warm and there was vents right outside our window so couldnt get much air into the room, and there are loads of stairs!!!!!! no lifts
We booked the Martello because its right above a lively pub/restaurant with free entry into the niteclub. Was a Halloween weekend so the place was buzzing! The hotel itself is clean, and basic no frill's but for a night's stay that did not matter... And for the price its not bad, its great to be able to just walk upstairs after a night out... You can still hear the nightclubs music pumping so if you like to have an early night at the weekend then bring earplugs.. The receptionist was a bit off at first and seemed like we had bothered her with our arrival, but she was grand after a few mins.
friendly staff ,affordable,
Location, bed was fine, quiet area Nothing awful about it. But several little maintenance things were awry. The host made an effort, but isn't a natural at chatting up the guests. Grounds were dull. Food in local pub was cheap (esp. with hotel free wine offer) but very dull.
Very close to the National park, small hotel with excellent host Shower area is too small in size
Great breakfast, with nice views from the dining room. The room I had was very good and the bed huge and very comfortable.
