Cons: Room temperature where not managed well for summer. Really need at least a fan for summer as the rooms get very hot and struggle to cool down during the night.

Nature around so beautiful and also very close to Giethoorn! So we are very happy and definitely would love to return! Well done to team!

Located in Zwartsluis, Hotel Zwartewater is on a river, within a 15-minute drive of National Park De Weerribben and Waterloopbos. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Only the location is good
Cons: Not at all clean. The blanket full of hair when we check in the room. Not even a water bottle kept inside the room and the tissues in toilet not refilled.
Pros: Room size was large and location with river view was excellent. Breakfast was excellent with full english breakfast possible (except maybe for the toast, but the bread selection was very good. We are not used to sleeping on single beds but the bed quality was good.

Located in Zwolle, De Koperen Hoogte is within a 10-minute drive of Museum Staphorst and Anningahof Sculpture Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Sence of service seems to be absent
Pros: The hotel and room is amazing. Loved the experience and comfort.
Cons: Food expensive , as was the cost of a cup of coffee from the machine
Pros: Location, location and location. Really, sitting next to the highway which you cannot hear by-the-way, is great, especially from the rotating restaurant an the top of the tower. Although the styling looked dated, it was done with attention. Moreover, the jaccuzzi was superb!
Cons: Styling little bit dated, wallpaper little bit torn. The service during breakfast was like granny serving her grandchilds, not what you would expect in professional surroundings, meaning very friendly but one doesn't serve eggs on a plate and then holding the plate in your hands with your thumb on the plate next to the eggs ....
Pros: Nice spacious room with big jaccuzi like bath and steam cabin. Alternative setting. Different than other hotels.
Cons: No coffee of tea facilities in the room. Also no option for drinks or snacks after 21:00. Interior of the room outdated and kind of a stale smell in the room.
Cons: Staff seemed annoyed and was hard to get a hold of. No fridge in the room.
Pros: Big room, good bed, big bathroom with sauna. The building has a nice design, stereo looks good, but I didn't try it.
Cons: Well, the place is heading down hill, wall paper coming off, bathroom was below standard and not so clean. It has a "Liberace" atmosphere to it and it looks like something out of Las Vegas, very kitch. The breakfast was poor. But the staff was friendly. And comparing the stereo to the TV, ... such a small screen...

City Hotel Meppel is 5 minutes' walk from the train station of Meppel and the city centre. Giethoorn is 13 km from the hotel. Assen is 45 minutes' drive away.
Pros: Everything the owner of this hotel was very nice guy and the breakfast everything is there
Cons: I like everything the owner was very friendly and nice
Pros: Silence at night, supermarket nearby, friendly and helpful hosts. On breakfast - fresh hot croissants, delicious cheese and ham, aromatic coffee - that's all I love.
Pros: Staff extremely friendly and accommodating
Pros: Great location, comfortable room
Cons: Nothing in particular
Pros: The hotel is with great service and perfect location . The owners are very polite and professional. Clean and tidy. The supermarket is 2 minutes away and the train station 7 minutes by walk. City center 3 minutes.
Pros: Very quiet location; seems to be located on the edge of a residential neighborhood. Emailed instructions for getting around road construction and to the hotel were exceptionally clear. Key-code entry worked like a charm. Narrow stairs were a challenge initially, but I got used to them. Excellent breakfast, especially the coffee (from an ultra-fast, efficient machine). Very friendly staff -- we were able to chat and learn a bit about how people live in the Netherlands. Walking-distance close to the library, city center, and supermarket. WiFi worked great. Parking provided.
Cons: I really can't think of anything. Perhaps a more informative sign on the hotel front could be helpful, plus instructions on how to get away around the road construction. We circumnavigated the neighborhood a few times. Americans!
Pros: Hotel is in the city center of Meppel. Several restaurants, bars and supermarkets are in a few minutes walking distance. The staff is nice, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is worth paying for.
Pros: I enjoyed being able to park right next to my door
Pros: In a quiet location
Cons: quite basic rooms, perhaps a little tired
Pros: Large, well appointed, very friendly and helpful staff. Ideally located near train and town center.
Pros: Very handy for the train station and town centre yet located in a quiet area. I particularly liked the wet room, far more convenient than a cramped shower cubicle. Breakfast was also very good.

De Poort van Drenthe is located in the heart of Meppel, near the train station and a bus stop. Parking is free of charge near the hotel. The rooms have a private bathroom and free Wi-Fi. De Poort van Drenthe has a few hotel bars and offers excellent cuisine, from barbecue specials to soups and snacks. You can make day trips to Giethoorn and Staphorst. There are also several cycling and highway routes that start right at the hotel.
Pros: Nice hotel perfect for us for our visit to our family Slept very well and enjoyed our stay very much
Pros: - The hotel is right out side the Meppel station. - LIDL is 10 min walk towards the town center. - Breakfast is not great but adequate for a 2 star hotel.
Cons: - Rooms are a bit small. - Getting a taxi in the area is a big problem. Book well in advance and not wait till the last moment. - Amsterdam is 1.5 hours away. Fare of 1 Adult day return ticket is around 40 euros.
Pros: Perfect location, just in front of the train station and at walking distance from city center. Owners running the hotel, very friendly and kind couple.
Pros: Breakfast was ok.
Cons: Tired rooms but ok for a night at the price. Needs tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Pros: Great location in the city. Breakfast was tasty. Great security for our bicycles.
Cons: Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed the day we stayed. I think the food would have been excellent.
Pros: Basic accommodation near public transport
Pros: Perfect location across from the train station. No need for a car, and easy to walk all over town. Wonderful, helpful host - Hank. Breakfast full of lovely choices. The hotel is charmingly old fashioned, so not so good for people who require sleek, modern places. Those who want this sort of romantic charm can not go wrong.
Cons: I cannot think of a thing.
Pros: The premises and room were clean and tidy and plenty of choice for breakfast. The hotel has an old world charm with original features. So close to the train station which is great.
Cons: I didn’t realise there wasn’t a lift and my knees are not the best for carrying a bag up and down narrow stairs. Also the hotel is not manned all the time so it is difficult if you want a question answered, though the owner lives next door. But this I understand is the same at other hotels in Meppel that someone is not always there.
