8.8 Excellent
Pros: We truly enjoyed our stay at Château de Courtebotte. The owner, Isabelle, was extremely helpful in making bookings and suggestions for exploring the area. She is fantastic at cultivating an atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and at home. Our first night, we had a delicious dinner at the Château, cooked by our host. It consisted of a butternut soup, followed by a duck confit with potatoes dauphinoise, a selection of cheeses, and a chocolate tart, all with a selection of wines from nearby winery, Château Bonhoste. We had the breakfast each morning, which was a lovely spread of cheese, meat, jams, croissants, baguettes, yogurt, granola, scrambled eggs, crepes, baked treats, juice, and coffee. The other visitors were great company at meal times and this added positively to our experience. We loved all the diversions offered at the Château. It has a fantastic pool, which can be heated, but the heating was not turned on during our stay (first week of October) so we did not use it. It also has a hot tub, which we did use. There is a great pool table and lots of board games. For kids, the pool is gated and there is a trampoline and playground. We stayed in the spacious room with a terrace. It had a very comfortable king bed and pillows. The shower has a rain fall shower head and excellent pressure.
Cons: Nothing that bothered us, but our curtains were dusty and there were several small dead bugs on the floor near the bathroom window. The bathroom radiator did not appear to be functional. The terrace had sort of a side view of the river, but the main view was onto the parking lot. There is a road between the hotel and the river which isn't frequently used, but you can hear cars a bit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb in every way, with outstanding help from the owner.
Cons: We love everything about Chateau Courtebotte

Pros: Our room was the Suite with Terrace. It was amazing! The bathroom- exceptional! Terrace and view- divine! Breakfast- just delicious! Isabelle, her family, and staff were great! Wish we would have given up another night or two elsewhere to lengthen our stay. Just a short ride into Saint-Emilion. Stay here if you can!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, beautiful house. The room was very large, superbly decorated. The en-suite has a large walk in shower, twin sinks, again very nicely presented. We had our evening meal at the house, all I can say is Pierre can put together a very, very nice plate of food, if you ask Pierre to cook for you, you won’t be disappointed. Pierre is very friendly and easy to talk to, fortunately his English is quite good.
Cons: We love travelling around France, this is something we’ve found in virtually every place we’ve stayed in. Not enough power sockets. When travelling we need to recharge phones and motorbike comms batteries. Four spare outlets, two either side of the bed would be amazing! But, not really a criticism, the room was amazing, spare power sockets would be the icing on the cake! First world problems
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a delightful two days at the property surround by vineyards, with beautiful food served by Pierre each night, with perfectly matched wines. Breakfast was a treat also.
7.9 Good
Pros: Service was very Special. No Standard proceedures. The owner was polite and open for any Special wishes.
Cons: Air in the rooms
7.9 Good
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and provided us very good suggestions for trips Quiet area if you are looking therefore Nice Pool area Clean and spacious room
Cons: A bit of variety at breakfast would have been nice (if you stay more than 3 days like us). Maybe some savoury things like eggs or cheese... We needed to empty our bin by ourself. Room was cleaned just 2 out of 5 days...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful guesthouse run by a lovely couple (Pierre-Yves and Laure) where nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated with lovely touches and a superb bathroom. There is private secure parking in the grounds. Dinner was a fixed menu that Pierre-Yves produced with aplomb and wasn't phased when informed my wife was allergic to scallops and offered an excellent alternative. Breakfast was continental style but just as delicious as dinner. A real gem of a find and worth venturing a little further out from Bordeaux.

Pros: Overnight stop on 6 cycle day ride from Bordeaux to the South. Loved the sense of remoteness, set in local vineyards. Couldn't have been better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location in the middle of the vine yards was excellent. Pierre and Laure were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble and Pierre spent time with us each day to plan our excursions. The food and wine were of such a high standard that we ate in every night as we would not have found better value in any restaurant. This is a very rare find and can’t recommend it enough.
Cons: Nothing

6.7 Good
Pros: Our first meal that they prepared was absolutely delicious and the breakfasts were lovely. They were very accommodating and even facilitated getting pizza when we came back early from an event,
Cons: Everything was very thought out and presented however we thought the lady could have been a bit more professional. Even though everything was in jest, you don’t stay somewhere to be mocked every time you see them.

Pros: What a beautiful home ran by such welcoming hosts. Everything was wonderful from the welcome with a lovely glass of cold beer after a long drive to the freshly picked plums from the gorgeous gardens that we were offered with our evening meal. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Valérie and her husband were so friendly and helpful. It felt like you had arrived at home
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were clean and neat, recently refurbished, shower had strong pressure, there were towels for the pool in the room, the shared kitchen is large and had a fridge, microwave and coffee machine for use 24/7. The hosts are wonderful and we had dinner with them and other guests one night where they cooked traditional French cuisine. The gardens are green and well maintained and the pool is wonderful after a hot day. The pets (Judy the dog) and Bombi the donkey are an added bonus. The hosts are amazing and nothing was any trouble. They cooked wonderful breakfast as well (crepes and fresh bread and apricot cake and jams) and also had wine available for purchase to save the hassle of choosing from the many varieties on offer in the area. Everything was fantastic and Valerie and Vincent were amazing hosts.
Cons: The only thing I would add was that there are no screens on the doors that go out to the pool so if you wanted it have the door open at night to let in some fresh air, the mosquitoes would eat you alive. This is just a suggestion.

Pros: Emanuel & Christine were very pleasant - they're social but don't crowd you. A very well balanced pair of hosts: bright, informative and good to talk with. Top marks! The location is wonderful too - beautifully set in Sainte-Terre, down by the enormous but peaceful Dordogne river. You couldn't ask for more. I rented a car and found getting up and down to St Emilion and surrounds quick and easy as a result. I'm not sure how accessible all of this would be to non-drivers but I'm sure it would still be worth the effort.

Out host Jackie ordered bikes from a local provider - we had a great time following the river rides. Did 2 of the rides from maps provided by the bike provider. Great fun. Wonderful way to see the surrounding area. Another of our group did the hike that takes you up the farm road, over the hill and into a nearby village. Worth it, he said.
Cons: We should have taken a car. The villa is located about 10 mins from the Velines train stop. Taxis aren't always available. The hostess is far too busy to run an alternative taxi service. Plus you need a taxi or a car to get to dinner. We didn't have a car - won't make that mistake again.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is located in picturesque village, there is a common balcony with twisted vines and panoramic view on the vineyards and sunset. Hotel offer dinner, it was good. Short drive to Sent-Emillion. Room is clean. You can always find a place for the car in the street, it is free.
Cons: The main thing we didn't like is the toilet: there is no door in it. I'll try to explain: when you get into your apartment, you get into the hall, at the left hand is the bathroom with toilet, without door, there is a sliding door further between hall and the main room, but it is still kinda embarrassing. Sound isolation, well, we were living at the ground floor and was able to hear guys from the upper floors and noises from the outside.

Pros: We had a short but very sweet stay at Le Manoir de Marie-Lou and wish we had booked for longer! Marie and Anne are such kind and generous hosts and made us feel so welcome. The private garden provides a lovely peaceful space for relaxation. The apartment is spacious and furnished with attention to detail, exceptionally clean. Beds are very comfortable. We were treated to a very generous home-made spread for breakfast and Marie and Anne kindly gave us pastries and fruit for our long bike ride home. We hope to be back and would highly recommend a visit.
