Pros: Very lovely interior, lodge-style, very big room plus big extra space (shared) in the house like living room and kitchen. Location at lake side lovely!
Cons: The bathroom was small compared to the big room with a very small (too small) sink, hardly usable like a regular sink in a hotel room.

Pros: Marjo and Tuomo were the perfect hosts, who went beyond what one can expect to make my stay in Kuusamo the best possible! The cabin was perfect with an open fireplace, new bathroom and sauna.
Pros: We have loved the cottage we had, very cosy place. We missed of absolutely nothing and we lived a very traditional finnish experience - mostly with the wooden sauna-. All of that facing the peacefullness of the lake! Kiitos Paljon Marjo for your kindness and your attention, We will definitively come again :)
Pros: Awesome view and very quiet
Cons: Tv antena is not good working.
Pros: The location was perfect, in the middle of woods on the shores of a lake
Pros: Very nice rustic cottage in the woods on the shores of the lake, the cottage was clean and cozy, very quiet and everything was working fine, it was nice to have a wood stove in the sauna.
Cons: The bbq area is too exposed to winds, the rack was too high even at minimun and had plenty of ants
Pros: Great location. Scenic the lake. There is a boat. Very good sauna. The house is located in a quiet cozy place away from roads and other houses. But..
Cons: ...many where visited in Finland, but the first time was so disappointed by the lack of comfort and ratio price-quality. Unfortunately we learned that the toilet located on the street only after settling. This information was not when booking. The toilet was no lighting, cold and dirty. To get into the shower, you need to first to go out into the street and open the door to the sauna, not good in cold weather. In the kitchen was bad washed cup.
Pros: Beautiful place, very nice hosts.
Cons: Too small for 4 persons. The bath room is outside the cabin.

Pros: The place was cozy and warm and the room was clean. Sauna was ready when we arrived which was super nice! Breakfast was included and it was good.
Pros: Beautiful log cabin in the middle of a forrest right at a lake. Our room was comfortable, the sauna was high-class and the breakfast very good (waffles!).
Pros: I even stayed longer then I planned
Pros: The host Hanna is really a pearl! She gave us a warm welcome, showed us the accommodation and offered any help! The villa is really great and especially we liked the calm surroundings in the middle of nowhere! The breakfast was very good, especially we enjoyed their waffles! Untill next time, Hanna!
Pros: Rachel and Tammy are so lovely What a great moment in VILLA IGLU we had with our family a beautiful Space for those want to have quiet and relax moment in the heart of nature We wish to become in winter to see northern lights and skiing on the frozen lake in front of the Hotel
Pros: Comfortable and clean. The staff are also very friendly and helpful! It was great place to stay on our way further north.
Pros: Basically this place is "in the middle of nowhere" on a beautiful spot. :) It was dark and I was really tired and then I arrived here - to this beautiful building with some lights on, lovely hosts welcoming me. This was a perfect place to stay: The hosts are really nice and friendly, the room was so cozy (I loved it!), everything was spotless clean everywhere, breakfast was very nice, value for money was amazing. I will definitely visit again and recommend to others as well. Thank you!

Pros: Quiet location
Cons: nothing to dislike
Pros: Nice location, plenty of gear available and in stunning nature (winter experiance)
Cons: nothing to complain on
Pros: Just beautiful place. Landscape is super. In the morning you can find moose in the backyard. Plenty of activities and sauna and lake. Good place to go!
Pros: Correct but not amazing.
Cons: Nobody in the reception, everything is automatic. Nobody to help if there is any problem. I was the only guest.

Pros: Good room and beds, nice breakfast, great dinner and very helpful, flexible, customer oriented, friendly staff. Will be back.
Pros: Lovely lounge room and good breakfast.
Pros: location was excellent,
Cons: not what i expect
Pros: Fireplace was excellent!
Cons: There was some problem with wi-fi in the room on the 2nd floor. It didn't work. The problem had been resolved next day after asking of reload the router.
Pros: Everything was fine. The best breakfast I’ve ever seen in hotels.
Pros: Very nice room, place and very good breakfast. Thank you.
Pros: Cosy apartment including sauna with a view and fireplace. Car parking just some steps away next to the apartment. Fully equipped kitchen and laundry drying closet were very helpful during our family holiday in Ruka.
Cons: Switching ventilation between kitchen and bathroom was a bit complicated but the personnel was helpful in solving this issue. The only thing that could be improved is collecting/leaving a key, which was not in the same place, where apartment is located.
Pros: No frills apartment that had everything we needed. It was very clean and functional. The sauna was great too. We liked the accommodation, and would probably stay there again in the future.
Pros: The fee
Pros: Very good situation, and overall well equipped. The sauna is very nice after a day in the snow but only 3-4 persons can fit in. A lot of hikes and activities are nearby.
Pros: Location was good at foothill of Rukatunturi.
Cons: The place was bit small for 8 people. We had to make beds and then clean up in the morning to turn them to sofa again as there was no place even to walk. The bigger room with double bed (twins joined) was of big enough size. There were no wine glasses. Dishwasher was difficult to get working. I think this place would suit for 4 people or max 6 to stay comfortably
Pros: All in all it was ok.
Cons: Very small hall, not enough place for outdoor boots. No soundproofness in the rooms.
Pros: Everything was just great!
Cons: firewood is not included
Pros: Location was lovely, very peaceful. It was very quiet and peaceful, and a bit outside of the centre . Loved the decor and the comfort. The apartment was so comfortable and warm. The beds were lovely, plenty of space in all of the rooms, plenty of space in the kitchen and dining areas. Shower was good, 2 showers and 'wet room' style, so no manky shower curtains or doors. The drying area by the door was really useful. Supermarket is near by (it is a big one and not pricey). We found everything and more, including Tesco free from pasta, which we always have at home-which totally amazed us. Ski bus leaves from road outside supermarket, look for the yellow ski bus sign. Can't remember if the apartment info had a ski bus timetable, but they do need to draw a map of where to find the ski bus stop and supermarket. We didn't mind having no wifi mostly. We had our mobiles and could do what we needed to. The apartment was very well equipped, lots of crockery and pots and pans. Couldn't find any scissors though. Beds were very comfortable and clean, the bed linen was lovely. Sofa was comfortable. The apartment was very clean. The staff were really kind and friendly and answered all of our questions. The apartment is only about 25 mins from the airport, which is superb. We took a taxi most days to and from the slopes (Eur 10 each way for family of 4). Didn't use the ski bus much as it was a bit of a hassle at the end of the day. It still worked out way cheaper than staying in the centre.
Cons: I would much rather pay say another Eur 15 and have the beds made on arrival. We had a late flight (having been up since 3am) and I'd forgotten that previous reviewers said about beds not being made. It was painful trying to unpack what we needed for the night, then having to make the beds after such a long journey. Key pick up is a hassle if you arrive late and you don't have a car. You have to go to Restaurant Zone (the name is confusing, it is not in a Zone but is abbreviated from Restaurant Arctic Zone). It cost us 12 Eur total to get from the airport (20 mins away), yet Eur 17 to get from the centre (3 mins away) to our apartment. I would rather have paid a few Euros more to have someone come over with the keys. We couldn't get a late check out, but they said we could leave our stuff at the Safarishop, which i discovered is next to restaurant Zone (where you pick up the keys if arriving late). i checked with them what time they closed, and it was 4pm. We had planned to pick up our cases at around 5.50, so it was a good thing i had checked. We left our cases at the Zone restaurant instead. There was a counter there, so we packed our ski clothes at the end of the day and got changed in the loo!

Pros: It had a spa!!! Very good room and very helpful staff.
Pros: Great walking tracks in the forrest. Nature near by.
Pros: The hotel is in a very calm place, breakfast was good, and lot of activities, even though we have to pay
Cons: Usually all the hotels provide free access to swimming pool here you have to pay extra which is quite annoying.
Pros: A spectacular Hotel to stay with family. A big room (in my case), a good breakfast (but with some crowd) and a spectacular Swimming Poll and also a lake nearby that is good to rest. Not the best in Finland, far from that but good enough. Also you have Sauna and a small Bar. I recommend it.
Cons: Perhaps he Breakfast is on a big room and so to much people and noise and the dinner on the Hotel Restaurant was to expensive.
Pros: Nice hotel overall, the room was nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was good. Location was nice and good to calm down. You can book a nice grilling hut for free. Good basic gym.
Cons: The spa was a bit expensive considering the facilities
Cons: - no warm welcome at the reception as a family with kids - no friendly service in o'learys sportbar and disappointed food/cost experience (e.g. basic Caesar Salat)
Pros: The pool area was fantastic and also the restaurant/bar
Cons: The breakfast was a bit simple
Pros: We appreciate one thing: the professionnalism of Michael, (or Mickael?) the receptionist. He very kindly managed a problem with the booking.
Cons: Everything excepted the receptionist: superior room too small, nothing to make coffe or tea, place 'has been'...
A traditional, elegant mountain hotel with all amenities in the best spot in Ruka. Genuine ski-in, ski-out, high-class accommodation and varied restaurant services guarantee a successful holiday.
Pros: Location to slopes. The layout of room and the breakfast.
Pros: breakfast was ok.
Cons: Bathroom was dirty. The room was not cleaned! The room was hot. The room was upper smoking area.
Pros: - Clean room with lots of space ( superior room) and balcony - Good location , several restaurants nearby - Breakfast was good with many choices - coffee/tea in room , refigerator and a clothes dryer for wet clothing
Cons: - Parking lot is +- 300m from hotel, also signalisation to parking should be better then 1 printed A4 paper.
Cons: This hotel is all about the location
Pros: An excellent hotel in a stunning location with friendly and helpful staff.
Pros: The room was great. The personnel spoke English and has been very friendly
Cons: The food in the restaurant needs improvement

Pros: Safarihouse is in a central place in the Ruka village, close to everything - ski rent, tickets, shops etc. Cosy living-room, 4 bedrooms. Good value for money :)
Cons: The place is noisy - a karaoke bar downstairs. Slept ok with earplugs + hearing protectors :) Ok for one night but not for longer stay (if not karaoke fan by yourself)
Cons: too much noise during the late night from nearby karaoke bar
Pros: Two toilets, car park in front of door, office next door, good sauna, skibus stop near, located in the center of everything
Cons: Terrible music/singing noise from below restaurant until 04 in the night. Many of us could not sleep, ear plugs help a little but not totally. Sad.

Kuusamo Bus Station is within 500 metres, while Kuusamo Airport is 6 km away.
Pros: Home away home atmosphere. Good value for money. Kitchen facility great.
Pros: Location, price, friendliness, cleanliness
Cons: No english speaking, breakfast only one hour long and quite early (8-9am) No wifi
Pros: Cleanliness and good breakfast. Best of all it had a little room to make tea/coffee, microwave a meal with a nice table to sit at. For guests on a budget this is perfect.
Cons: It would have been nice to get a cheap single room but that is always the oroblem of having to travel on my own- only hostels give good value for single travellers

Pros: Great easy to fine good private parking, owner brilliant
Cons: Not one thing everything as expected brilliant
Pros: The Place was very clean and spacious. Although the interior was simple it had everything you need. A fully equipped kitchen, a big table and a sofa. The host who also speaks German is very friendly. Check in and out was easy. So all in all a great place to stay for one night :)
Pros: The lady who manages the place is so welcoming and will help you with advice or anything you need. The studio is cosy, confortable, clean and quiet. A private car park is available in front of your room. The area proposes many things to do even in summer. Last but not least, the price-quality ratio is great !
Cons: Carpets on the floor which are not necessary in summer (the studio is warm enough).
Pros: The owner was very friendly and helpfull. We could leave part of our luggage for a couple of days while walking and we got a cool room on a very hot day. Thank you Mark
Cons: There is every thing you need, but the bathroom window could do with a moskito net.
Located in Kuusamo, Hostel Matkailumaja RukaTupa is on the waterfront, within a 5-minute drive of Ruka Ski Area and Rukatunturi Ski Jumping Hill. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and microwave in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: I like everything, kind owner, nice location, room big and cleaned.
Pros: Very nice sauna every evening, towels included, right next to the ski bus stop or a quiet 20min walk into Ruka village
Cons: It's more a motel then a hostel, so not a lot of interaction with other guests
Pros: I liked that we were able to check in a bit later than normal check in hours. Receptionist seemed quite nice. There was a toaster in common room that was handy when we wanted toasted bread (it was able to fit 6 slices of bread). There was small fridge, wii-console, sofa, darts and books in common area that we did not use, but might have been useful/fun. I did not check what games they had for the console. Apparently there was free public men and women sauna turns, but sadly we did not have time to try since we checked in a bit late. There was possibility to reserve sauna with 30€, but it felt a bit expensive at the time. You could order breakfast with 10€, but you had to do it one day beforehand. We did not try breakfast.
Cons: Temperature was propably more than 30 degrees in the room and there wasn't ac. Air in the room was quite thick and it did not change really well. In addition I could not open the window since it would have needed separate opener. Therefore I could not sleep well at all. I tried to swing (repeatly open and close) the door of the room in order to help air ventilation without luck. One point I seriously thought of going to sleep in the sofa of common area since there was ac. I dropped my thought after I remembered that the backdoor was next to common area and the door was supposed to keep open at all times. I did not feel like getting eaten by mosquitoes during sleep. There was also reindeer or dog hair in the sofa that I did not find tempting. I noticed two portable air conditioners' covered in dust in front of (maybe the only) emergency exit. Not sure why they haven't installed those in the rooms. Not sure if towel was totally clean when I arrived. Generally facilities were untidy and smelly. There was dust in floor panels, plastic carpet in the room was a bit sticky. You did not want to spend too much time in common toilet and wc/shower since overall untidiness there. There was no toilet paper in other toilet and somebody had left snus-bag in the shower shelf. There was a small stain from finger in the wall of toilet next to lightswitch. Looked like a dried blood (propably because of the mosquitoes). Carpet of the toilet looked like it would have needed some washing a while ago. Common hut looked quite nice inside out, but it smelled like wet dogs. I think those reindeer pulleys might have something to do about that smell. I got feeling that they haven't cleaned the place in weeks.
Pros: Owner was really nice and the food was great. Bonus: sauna :)
Pros: Nice staff. Peaceful place.
Cons: A motel with price of hotel. Some wear.
Pros: The owner is friendly, you can park the car in the backyard and the area is quiet. There's also a fridge, a kettle, a coffee machine and a microwave in the hallway. That's it about the positive things here in my opinion ....
Cons: The room is poorly equipped. There was not even a chair in my room. The mattress looked old and was dirty just like the rest of the bedding. I wanted to warm up a meal in the microwave but the microwave was dirty too. It looked as if food had exploded in it and nobody cared to clean it. So I went to town to have something to eat in a restaurant. After that experience I avoided to take a shower, though the toilets are okay. Wifi also doesn't work proper - if you get a connection at all. It's probably the cheapest place to stay in Ruka, but if you can afford a bit more money, look for something better. No good value for money. I cannot recommend this place and won't go there again when I'm in the area.
Pros: Sauna included in the proce of a romm, kind personel. Best, if not only, budget option in Ruka.
Cons: It’s not a hostel but a motel, it makes a difference. There is no possibility to include breakfast in the price. Reception is open from 8 AM. It’s too late.
With a stay at RukaTupa Cottages in Kuusamo, you'll be near the beach, within a 5-minute drive of Ruka Ski Area and Rukatunturi Ski Jumping Hill. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Easy and nice walk (20minutes) from the property to Kumpare! Cabin was warm.
Cons: When booking there was no where on the front page that it didn’t include towels or sheets. The cabin itself was not cleaned very good. There wasn’t toilet paper, someones chewing gum was stuck on the wall right next to the bed. There was dog food left on the floor and the toilet seat was broken. Also the bed mattress was so old you could feel the ”fur” through the sheets which made it very uncomfortable..
Pros: The best option for budget oriented people. you get a warm cottage, specific amount of beds, a bathroom, a fridge and a stovetop. if you know what you are dong, thats plenty
Cons: basic boilerproblems. if someones having a shover, it is wise to pause with the dishes or the one having the shower is going to have freezing one. trivial, tbh
Pros: Kind host with a sweet dog! Very cosy and warm.
Cons: The shower is located a little inconvenient but hey, it worked!
Pros: Great location, amazing place, really close to Rukatunturi and not so far either from the shop. Really calm, there is access to sauna and a kota where you can grill.
Cons: Cleaning fee is abusive (65€) if you don't take care or clean after you leave. In the cottage there is everything you need for taking care of it, so don't forget to clean!!!!
Pros: The cabin was super warm (with 2 additional heaters). It indeed had a private hot shower and bathroom inside. It even had a private fully equipped kitchen inside. It even had a TV, but we didn't touch it.
Cons: The cabin, furniture and appliances need a renovation: almost everything (except for a surprising couple of new items) is old and totally worn out. Rented linen was a horror. As guests are supposed to clean after themselves (I missed that while booking), I doubt if it ever was cleaned professionally. The bar is a battery of various bottles behind the reception table, which the host can share with you. The place is just odd: if you look for a warm place to sleep in your sleeping bag, then probably you can find cheaper sites; if you look for comfort, then this is also not your option.
