Great location. Walking distance to restaurants. Donut shops. Thrift store shopping everything. We stayed for an athletic event but had some time to do other stuff. Close to a 7 eleven if you need a quick snack and self parking was across the street but easy to get to. A lot of homeless in the area but there is nothing the hotel can do about that. Just be cautious when walking at night.
The Lobby, the Gym, the pool and the rooms are great. I also enjoyed the very friendly and helpful staff during the Sunday Brunch. Having to wait in line for 5 minutes for the elevator in my floor and up to 10 minutes in the lobby. There was a lot of people and the elevators took forever.
Downtown location. Good valet parking service. No minibar
Location and room Staff didn't seem to know the area. I had to go to a coffee shop to even know what neighborhood the hotel was in.
Clean, modern room Did not have free parking or WIFI
We attended a function in the downtown area and the location was perfect. Room key did not work initially, I called the front desk from a house phone and an employee checked my identification and opened the door, he returned a short while later with a new key.
hotel staff there was no refrigerator; it cost to use wi fi; it was too expensive for one bed that was advertised as a double; it was noisy.
Location. Cannot believe the room have no Internet connection included in the price.
Proximity to convention center, willingness of staff to accommodate requests
I loved the room service breakfast. And how close it was to everything to do in downtown Sacramento. I had such a blast and everyone was pleasant and helpful during our stay. Definitely staying here again in the fire
Clean rooms. The TV service is worst I have seen anywhere. Very basic service. A major basketball game is on ( Warriors ) and they did not have the channel, really! This is a business hotel in Sacramento. I go to the lobby bar and they have two flat screens circa 2005. Spend $1400 at Costco for two new flat screens. They missed the attention to detail that is required in this market. Will not stay there again.
The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were lovely. The reception staff were not very friendly or helpful. They didn't seem suited to the service industry. The concierges were very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was not included
Beautiful view!!!! hard to get regulated the hot water, thin walls, very loud and you can hear every conversations even the cell phone from all rooms no only your neighbors
I was there with 3 young children. Very courteous and helpful staff. Pool was perfect for the kids. Breakfast was good, fast and reasonably priced. The hotel is clean and quiet hours were respected. We were there for a reception on the 15th floor which was also fantastic.
Upon check-in, we were given a room that was still occupied. The following morning someone walked into our room while we were sleeping.
The staff was amazing
Staff were very nice. Location is excellent. Room was dusty and had finger prints in the bathroom. There was a long black hair in the bed.
Very family friendly central location. Hot tub was not hot and it was 60 and raining.
Our first room had blood on the walls. We then moved rooms only to be placed in a room that wasn't cleaned. When we were moved again our room was still dirty but by then we had missed our original plans we had made. We stayed in the third room. The only thing the hotel did was remove a parking charge (which feels like something that should be free for guests anyway). Upon checking out a staff person made a very inappropriate drug related joke to my partner that made us both uncomfortable. When trying to order food from the bar I enquired about the cooking oil as I have food allergies and the staff said she didn't know and refused to find out what was used. I felt very uncomfortable, unsafe and dirty the entire trip. Definitely will not be staying at the Hyatt again.
Loved every moment. Staff was very welcoming. Definitely will consider staying there again. No complaints
Sophisticated decor, helpful staff, "beautiful people" hot spot. The noise from both the street and partiers went on until 3 a.m. Motorcycle engines revving, police called on issues in the street, shouting and yelling in the street, all echoed right up to our 7th floor room.
The restaurant downstairs was awesome
The staff was great, well trained, accommodating and helpful The room was awful! It only had 2 tiny Windows, about 1'x2'. The mattress was old and soft, we kept slidding into the middle and did not get a good nights rest.
Made a reservation for 2 guest in a queen size room. Got there and checked in @7pm and was notified that I was upgraded to a king size room, big plus on their part! The room was cozy and comforting. It also includes a beautiful bar setup along with a wonderful street view. To be completely honest, the one thing I did not like was the shower. The rest of the room was was decorated and painted in its own style including the bathroom. But once you open the shower curtain all you see is plain, boring, tile. Both room and bathroom give off some bomb vibes, except the tile. Just kills the ambient. Other than my pity first world problem place was outstanding.
What an amazing historical hotel with a great downtown location. I would recommend this hotel and we'll be back.
Excellent staff. Wonderful old and superbly renovated building. Three blocks from the Capitol. Room was small.
The location is nice, and the valet staff friendly and responsive. We went to a concert that night and arrived back at the hotel at 11 p..m. The restaraunt was closed, and there is no room service avaiilable after this time. The restaurants nearby become nightclubs at this hour, and there are lines to get in. We also could not access our car because valet closes. I also felt that there now needs to be a few fixes or upgrades done. Our room was clean but there was no bathroom lock it was broken...paint touch ups need to be done, and the TV remotes replaced with easier ones to use. This hotel is best for business travelors, event guests (wedding) where they don't need to leave the hotel.
The room was nice and clean. Nice appointments. Very comfortable. Large shower. The door on the bathroom was a slider and did not actually shut.
Overall friendly service. Responsive staff. Comfortable rooms.. Very unique atmosphere.. Staff forgot to address gold status(free breakfast) until I checked out. Paid for two breakfasts I didn't need to...I forgot to remind clerk at check in.. This seems to be a systematic Marriott issue.
Stayed overnight for a girls weekend. I was given a complimentary upgrade upon arrival and I was very pleased with my room as well as its amenities. Beautiful Chinese soaking tub and every toiletry you can think of. Linens were excellent quality and the bed was very comfortable. We were able to enjoy the restaurant as well for breakfast and the menu and drinks were to die for! I had a very hard time deciding what have. Fresh squeezed OJ mimosas and bloody Mary's were amazing. I can't wait to have a romantic overnight with the hubby very soon!
Decor and comfort were the best. Very trendy, great food at Grange, valet, bell boy and front desk were exceptional... with the exception of one night girl. The only staff member that " couldn't see" the LARGE ( 3 feet in length ) wine or blood or whatever stain was on my curtains in my original room. Aside from actually completing the transaction of switching my room she was not helpful. My new room keys that she gave me were only 1 out of 2 working. She didn't offer a bell cart, I had to ask. The next morning upon leaving at 5:30 and asking them to check the original room for left behind belongings- she told me " you can go check yourself I'll make you another key". AND she never alerted housekeeping for follow up with the issue. I felt like I had to do all the work for a 4 star boutique hotel in mid town. The only reason I was so displeased with that interaction was that everyone else was outstanding.
Lots of issues with room - lights not working, TV issues upon arrival and "pat" answer from engineer (remote needs new battery which we knew wasn't the issue but a problem with cable company). First night dinner in "temp" restaurant horrible. Didn't charge for one meal but just no attention to detail, wrong order. Experience better when Joie property.
Wonderful room downtown with a great view. The restaurant that is attached is wonderful, and there are several others within walking distance. It is right across the street from the beautiful Capitol Park, and there is plenty to do in the area. It is even walking distance from Old Sacramento which is a great place to spend a day shopping and enjoying the old buildings and trains. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room cleaner in particular was especially helpful and knowledgeable of the area. The breakfast is standard, nothing too special, but it has a lot of choices. A/C only covered the back half of the room, which is fine when going to sleep, but kind of bad at keeping the entire room cold during the day or at an even temp since the thermostat is right under the ac vent.
Walking distance to many restaurants and bars. Quiet interior location. Unprofessional front desk staff needs training.
The staff went out of their way to please, with friendly smiles and over-the-top courtesy.
There was food Very cramped dinning space, couldn't push stroller very well there and also no scrambled eggs were available
We stayed for a week-long conference at the convention center, which was three easy blocks walking distance away. The breakfast hours were convenient, and there was a wide selection of food, including waffles and biscuits and gravy. Comfortable beds, quiet rooms, and friendly staff all contributed to a pleasant stay. It was great to have a fridge and microwave in the room for storing and heating leftovers. The only bad thing I can think of to say is that there were some holes in the bedskirts that I noticed, and the sleep function on the TV remote didn't work.
I could walk to my event down town and I could walk to the capitals as well Amenities fairly limited, the wifi was very poor in my room. Download speed about 5MB/Sec upload speed less than 1 MB/Sec
Staff were friendly, breakfast was good, good location with easy parking Our room had a musty smell to it, as if the shower curtain needed to be changed out. We got in at 2:00 am and left the next morning. Had it not been for the brevity of our stay, we probably would have asked for a different room.
Staff is extremely helpful and friendly - made us feel like they actually wanted us to be there. Breakfast was great; beds were excellent; bathrooms great . Fitness room was minimal.
Room was really nice, very clean. Bed was comfortable. The wifi was terrible, it cut out every couple of minutes. The water pressure was super weak, very hard t get clean.
Cleanest room I have stayed at in a long time. Very close to midtown and plenty of goody spots. Year round open pool with solar heating. Plenty of free parking to boot!!! And the shower / amenities in the room have definitely been thought over when planning the comfort of the guest.
Room very clean, nice attention to detail, bed very comfortable, good wifi. Love the indoor/outdoor feel of the hallways. Breakfast very processed and ho-hum. This was my third stay here and this time my window overlooked the light rail which was noisy early in the morning.
Great to have free parking as a guest. Nice and friendly folk worked there. Breakfast good and lots of options. Tv screen was on zoom so you couldn't see the whole screen and the remote didn't allow a fix. Breakfast was too crowded so we didn't bother trying to get it the second day.
The neighborhood didn't feel very friendly, and my room smelled very stale.
Location The view from our outside windows.
nice place right in the middle of everything rooms are a little small
It's a very nice hotel, but I got a suite so my friend and I would have privacy from each other. I told him that I'd take the couch... which was not possible, because the couch was barely bigger than a lazy boy recliner and the only way I could sleep on their couch was if I slept in the fetal position... which wasn't possible. They said all their couches except the one in the handicap accessible room were small like that. Luckily they had one of those rooms left, but it wasn't a suite, so we had no privacy from each other. Also, in the "suite" the "living room" part was only about 7' x7' wide, so it would be challenging to even sleep on the floor in there it's so small. AND THE DOORS ARE MADE OF GLASS.... so once again, don't get the suite for privacy or extra sleeping space. The ONLY thing I can see the suite being good for is if someone likes to watch TV late and doesn't want to wake the person sleeping... otherwise the suites are pointless. Overall the hotel is very nice, nice decor, friendly staff, awesome location, and walking distance to most anything in downtown. We took a Lyft to the Kings game, but walked back. I'd stay here again, but not if I was with my buddy who I didn't want to share a bed with. The provided ear plugs so we didn't have to listen to each other's snoring. The "suite" that was pointless. See above. Also, Parking is on a first come first parked basis. Luckily we got a space and didn't have to move my car. We took a lyft to the Kings game which is way cheaper/easier than paying for parking and losing out space in the garage. Because if you get a parking space at the hotel, if you drive somewhere, your space is not guaranteed when you return.
Staff were great. Room was comfortable. Wonderfully close to all we wanted to do. Fitness room closed
This hotel is right in Midtown and an easy walk to the Capitol. Nice breakfast and wonderful breakfast staffer Mar-Lyn. She could brighten anyone's day!
I liked that half of the staff I encountered really cared. I didn't like how little parking they had. Also, my key cards kept demagnetizing. The receptionist I dealt with the first time said it was because I had it near electronics, but it happened a second time and I was keeping it away from electronics. I was there for three nights and this happened twice.
Located in midtown Sacramento . Everything is close restutants , bars, museum... etc... Easy to go everywhere
I have always loved this building, and nice hotel rooms for less than $150/night are in short supply in downtown Sacramento. The Sterling gave us outstanding value for a spacious room with enormous Jacuzzi bathtub and beautiful four-poster bed in a gorgeous historic Victorian era home. Check in and check out experience efficient and pleasant, with flexibility on a little extra time for check out. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends with caveats below. There is on the street parking but it is metered with a two-hour limit after 8am or before 6pm Mon-Sat, so you will get a parking ticket if you sleep in. The street gutter was filled with leaves, making it a little messy for shoes and luggage. There is a $16 city lot just a block away... But it is a block away. A valet service would be ideal. As other guests have commented, some room elements such as sinks are beginning to show signs of age, but they did not detract from the outstanding value of our room.
Rooms were lovely, staff friendly (but a tad forgetful at times), location not near nightlife, but if you're looking for a place to stay with character, this is it. Continental breakfast was the worst I have had in any hotel. I mean ever.
Overall good stay: clean place, central location, and friendly staff.
everything is comfortable.
Clean, nice breakfast
I reserved a non smoking room, however, there were none available so I was stuck in a smoking room. I have severe allergies, and turning on the heater really stired my allergies up and made my stay very uncomfortable. I will never stay there again.
The bed was comfortable. Great location. The breakfast food was good too. Where do I start? First receptionist was cold, she could of been more welcoming and smile! The blow dryer did not work in the room. We had a "do not disturb" sign in door, but the maids entered anyways (which should not of been entered!) and took all the towels. We had to go ask for towels. Very noisy parking lot and some one spilled a drink from the balcony all over our car.
Full breakfast, microwave and 'frig in room, computer and printer available, free wifi Security doors on stairs open out on the landing, backing you onto the stairs
The location is the best part The staff the lady in the front was rude an has no manners or customer service
The rooms were clean them from doing their jobs The elevator is on the stairs or only on one and so you have to pack bags for a distance of the breakfast was for
It was close to the Convention center at a decent price. Clean. Poor parking facility. Even though I was given a parking permit, I still had to park my car on the streets.
Proximity to downtown and Old Sacramento is good, plenty of bars and small bistros in local area. Cheap, clean, free continental breakfast - ideal for weekend trip.
breakfast was excellent staff had trouble speaking and understanding english language.was within walking distance to everything to do sacremento...... big bins in alley being emptyed early every morning
