10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host Adrian was very friendly and hospitable. On a scale of 1 to 10, he rates an 11. The accommodation was really a suite with 2 bathrooms, there was a large lounge room and a separate bedroom. The bed was very comfortable, the view of the river was great and the hot breakfast was out of this world. 3 courses would you believe. The WiFi had a greater speed than 25 mbits/sec. More than enough for us to each watch Netflix on our iPads. And the town of Riviere du Loup was really lovely place. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
Cons: There was nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old house, full of character with a fantastic view over the St. Lawrence river. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had, produced by a retired restaurateur who takes a real pride in his work.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location just outside town and along the river. The guest room includes a living room, lot of charms. The owner was a great host and served us a fantastic breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very welcoming, informative, generous with his time and he went out of his way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He paid a lot of attention to detail, including the chocolates before bed, a fridge loaded with water and drinks and a gastronomic breakfast. The bedroom has an incredible view of the St Lawrence River. The rental space is huge including a living room, fireplace, TV's in both bedroom and living room and a small balcony off the bathroom. Tastefully decorated with unique pieces and original art.
Cons: Nothing! We just wished the place wasn't booked the following day so we could spend another day...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host and a wonderful breakfast cooked for us as we ate.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was welcoming. He is also an excellent cook! He made us a fantastic three course breakfast. I would highly recommend this B and B for couples. The view from the bedroom of the seaway is outstanding.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived we knew this would be an exceptional experience. The owner, Adrien, was sitting on the porch, waiting to greet us. The personal attention then continued throughout our stay ... one night. The inn is comprised of antiques, each unique piece having a story. Adrien is an attentive and accomplished host. Breakfast was outstanding and he provided us with valuable information on the region as well as tips for the road ahead. Would highly recommend and hope to return some day!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The amazing breakfast. Adrien was very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Nothing could have been better.

Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely ambience of comfort and beauty with a welcoming charming host and staff. And, a delicious breakfast!
Cons: This is as perfect as a place can be.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Villa Ward is one of the most beautifully appointed inns we have ever stayed at. Everything is thoughtfully and beautifully selected and arranged - but without being fussy or precious. The common areas are decorated to reflect the history and culture of the auberge. The rooms also do this but are carefully updated, modern and simplified. Very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. The gardens are a delight. The breakfasts are delicious and of high quality. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Hosts Jamie and Michel offer high quality and value. We hope to stay there again and we have already recommended a stay at Villa Ward to friends.
Cons: That we only booked to stay two nights - and then had to leave! Could we please stay at Villa Ward forever??!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent bed. They need to offer decaf coffee. Loved the hosts. They were great
Cons: Decaf coffee
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Charming hosts, excellent breakfast and location. Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: We happened to arrive shortly after a heavy rainfall - the mosquitoes were ferocious. Villa Ward, however, was very enjoyable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Breakfast; great and friendly hosts. Truly a delight as the place could double as a museum of beautiful antiques. Obviously, the hosts take this business seriously and make it seem easy. Please don't book when I want to go there. Too disappointing.
Cons: Ony stayed one evening.
Gîte Chute Couette & Café - Notre-Dame-du-Portage - Building
3
9.6 Excellent (210 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Gîte Chute Couette & Café in Notre-Dame-du-Portage, you'll be on the beach and 6 minutes by car from Club De Golf De Riviere-Du Loup. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, kind, considerate host. Comfortable room, excellent breakfast. Can't fault anything.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a delight and both food and presentation were excellent. It was a beautiful location .The flowers were lovely in the outside garden and the décor inside was very well chosen. Very good taste even to the toilet tissue holder in the downstairs bathroom. We were pleased that we were able to have our breakfast even if we were early.
Cons: The only help we needed was with the TV remote.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so nice and the breakfast delicious!! It felt like home.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was quite good (but I think the reviews and photos had made us expect something extraordinary, instead of very good). Hosts were really friendly and helpful. It was great being able to walk the beach (it is rocky with small areas with sand so bring sneakers). The sunset was extremely beautiful.
Cons: Room was tight and not soundproof. (I think this is an older house that was converted into a BnB). Parking was awkward. (I think they have one more room than parking spot... so we had to wait for others to move their car to get out - the owner managed this very well and all went smoothly, but it felt awkward having to report on our timeline. I don't think this would bother most people)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly greeting and tour of facilities: kitchen and common seating area with balcony overlooking the beautiful St Lawrence river, lower terrace with waterfall. Superb breakfast. Spotless and comfy room.
Cons: Difficult to think of anything we did not like...walls offer little sound proofing would be the only comment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beatiful bed&breakfast, with very nice owners!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This little house, once a duplex is just charming. We booked the double room with private bathroom. The bathroom is across the hall and locks to ensure it stays private. This is located on the second floor and next to the kitchen and common area which is available to all guests. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Our room had a beautiful view of the river and the adjacent common room has a balcony with the same view. The other guests were quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was delicious with coffee, crepes and fruit, followed by an egg breakfast with homemade jam and pâté. The hosts were amazing and welcoming. They speak English and did a great job including us the breakfast conversation.
Cons: Honestly, nothing. But if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs because this is a house which means that the rooms aren’t sound proof.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are gracious and friendly. Colbert conversed in English and accepted our attempts at speaking in French. Lovely beach just across the road for catching the sunset over the St. Lawrence. Colbert happily made a dinner reservation for us at a nearby “Auberge” and suggested we ask to share the “plat complet”, which worked well for us. Second stay here and would definitely stay again. Conveniently located midway between Ontario and Nova Scotia.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow! Where to begin! This is a charming hotel in a heritage building, decorated with antiques. Aside from the electricity and TV's, it feels like you're walking into another time. Our room ("Mr James") had a front porch patio and a clawfoot tub! SUCH a treat staying here!! And the staff were friendly and helpful, even though my French speaking and comprehension is poor at best; they really made us feel special and welcome. Breakfast was included, too! We also (VERY MUCH) enjoyed a steak supper and cocktails at the sister-restaurant next door, where you check in. The cherry on top is when I realized - two days later - that I had forgotten an important power cord behind! The staff I spoke with was sympathizing, did his absolute best to speak English with me, and shipped it off in the mail the very next morning. Accommodating, welcoming, and so so charming. I highly recommend a stay or two at the Auberge Mr James! We will be back!!
Cons: I loved that breakfast was included, and the plates were generous! My only criticism at all would be that the breakfast was completely comprised of sugary items. Sugary waffles, pastries, sugary cereals, fruit, juice. Great for my sugar-bug husband, but less than great for me. I found it all too sweet to enjoy. (I know, counter-intuitive, right?)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious room with fireplace.
Cons: Leaky tap in bathroom.

Pros: The parking at the patio door was beneficial along with seating outside when travelling with your pet. Mini fridge is helpful when travelling with a cooler and ice packs. Staff was very nice and location is close to canadian tire and many fast food establishments along with grocery store.
Cons: Understandable but hard to visit the pool with kids when dog cannot be left alone in the room. Also a $25 charge for the dog as well.
