Pros: The owners of this hotel are simply the best hosts ever. No one has ever met us so hospitable. The hotel is ideally located in the center of a nice medieval town. Amazing unforgettable views. The style of the 18th century is perfectly combined with modern comfort. Great homemade breakfast. Wonderful place to stay!
Cons: Nothing to dislike. The hotel has only a few rooms, so book in advance as we did. Otherwise, you will be late :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very nice and we had a warm welcome. The view from the rooms is extraordinary!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful accommodation run by loving hosts with many details. The rich breakfast consists of self-made, local products and guests from all around the world invite into the day. The building is historic, very clean, quiet and the guest rooms and balcony have a great view of the castle and lower town. Fougeres is a small, quiet and ancient town with a lot of pubs, shops, historical sights and little traffic. It's not far to the north or south coasts (no toll). If you want to come to rest, you will be in good hands. As a family, we had a fantastic week here and will definitely come back soon.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A charming stone built house with wood panelled interiors. High ceilings and cool even in a heatwave thanks to shutters. Amazing view out of the window overlooking the castle and located right in the centre of Fougères. Breakfasts were feasts including homemade cake. It felt like the real France. Wifi speed was exceptional.
Cons: It was all good. Limited checking in times but owner was very good sending texts to make sure she was there at the right time.

Pros: Fabulous, friendly, knowledgeable hosts. Superb grand building with fabulous view of the chateau. Large room with very comfortable bed. Good shower. Superb breakfast with fresh produce, french toast with apple a delight. Potential to be fantastic accommodation with a few tweaks

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast and lovely friendly hosts
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location and an historic building which was quirky. Letitia and her husband could not have been nicer. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast was lovely.
Cons: We didn’t realise that you cannot get access to the hotel until 5:00pm. Which wouldn’t normally be a problem but we cycled and had nowhere to leave our gear so we were limited to how much we could explore. The time was on the paperwork so it was our mistake though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, views, style, authenticity, friendly hosts, everything really...
Cons: Nothing

Cons: By mistake we arrived at 15:30 and the gate was locked - opened at 17:00. That was written on the reservation, but we thought it a mistake. anyway, no problem, we went looking for a coffee shop - nothing was open in the 2 small towns around. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, tasteful equipment. We felt at home.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice lighting and a fairly large suite with comfortable bed although we would have liked some clothes storage nearer to the bed.
Cons: Our check in was dreadful. We arrived at the time we had indicated on our booking but nothing was ready. We rang the bell 3 times but no response. I then found a side door and shouted up the stairs several times, still no response. Five minutes latter I returned to the side door and shouted again. This time a man appeared in a some what flustered state. We then had to stand outside with our tandem for 15 minutes whilst he made the bed, by which time my wife was cold. Then we found there were no towels. It took a further 10 minutes to produce towels and another 5 to get a hairdryer. There were dishes to eat from but no tea towel to dry them with was available. In fairness the lady who owned the place did apologize the following morning saying that there had been a problem with the previous guest. This is all very well but the chap who checked us in did very little to welcome us or ensure we were comfortable.

Pros: The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in. Even more comfy than home

Pros: a quiet room with a relaxing garden view - but you have to ask for it, the half of the rooms are situated to the street
Cons: I missed the vegetables and a richer warm offer for breakfast, this is probably the cultural thing
7.5 Good
Pros: I really liked the breakfast, it was small and simple but with good quality products and selection which I appreciated.
Cons: The hotel couldn't call a taxi for me for the following day, I didn't quite understand if it was because it was too late (20:00) or because for some reason this was not a service they offered any longer. As a non-French speaker this was quite difficult for me.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff more than excellent
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quite location and a good base to visit Dinan, St Malo, Cancale, Mont St Michel, Rennes, etc. Breakfast was simple but consisted of wholesome produce and satisfying. Although I am not a jam fan, the strawberry jam provided was delicious!! The room was basic but spacious and clean. The hosts were welcoming and attended to our requirements, including early departure. Free parking on site.

4.3 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The hotel is called Le Privilege but it was anything but a privilege to stay there ! We had asked for a ground floor room because my husband is not very mobile and there was no lift. The room they offered was in an annexe and quite a walk from the dining room with a big slope to contend with. Not even an apology for not telling us in advance about the annexe. We booked for dinner but found that though dinner was available as it was a Monday was a set menu with no choice -pig's cheek main course. Again no apology for not warning us in advance. The room which we finally took on the first floor was very basic to say the least and rubber sheet over the mattress on a not very wonderful bed. Food OK if like pig's cheek but not otherwise though they did give us a cheese platter and did not charge extra.
6.8 Good
Pros: Good value. Food was good
Cons: No air conditioning or fan available in the room.

Cons: The room was rather dark and we needed electric light most of the time.To be fair, the weather was not good so perhaps if the sun had shone this would not have been a problem. A little fridge in the room would have been a nice touch. There was no cafe or restaurant in the village .....just a place for take-away pizzas.

Pros: The owner was very pleasant and spoke excellent English. The owner also told us all about the history of the chateau and recommended places to eat. The room was amazing and we had a fabulous stay. Lovely home made crepes for breakfast too.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a very unusual and a very interesting, and a very charming place. It is really a stately home, rather than a small castle or palace. It is a very much lived-in grand country manor, so not at all pretentious in spite of its outward grandeur - a family home. But the grandure is certainly here. The site is a fantastic world class Italianate topiary garden with a terrific view on one side, and a dignified courtyard on the other. Suptuous comfortable public rooms, formal dining/breakfast room, very grand bedrooms, nice big baths. Charming friendly host and hostes. Awesome outdoor swimming pool Visiting Brittany is not complete without staying at this welcoming amazing place. Worth every penny !!
Cons: Nothing

Wonderful hospitable owners have real pride in their establishment and are very friendly High quality refurbishment carried out in the last few years and a lovely rear garden Plenty of parking outside at the front
Cons: Very little - It would help to have a sign at the front showing the name of the building more clearly.

Pros: Great hotel, very clean and comfortable, awesome breakfast. 100% recomendation
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was a spotlessly clean tranquil oasis after a long day’s drive. The bed & pillows were the most comfortable I think I’ve ever slept on. Breakfast was beautifully presented with award winning croissants & home made crepes. We felt very welcome and the owners were very hospitable & friendly. We enjoyed meeting them very much and greatly admired their garden (it’s a shame the weather wasn’t good enough to sit outside). The area is lovely and quiet yet not far from Rennes.

Pros: We were two people who arrived and were duly met by Ben himself. A young person who looked after us very well and recommended a place for us to eat when we arrived. The breakfast was continental. This place was just outside Fougeres off the D812. We stayed two nights in a very spacious room and found it to be a very good start to our holiday.
Cons: Everything was fine
