We booked the junior siute for our 25th wedding anniversary and were delighted with the accommodation. Had dinner onthe night of our anniversary and though the service was good the sommalier lost interest leaving us to pour the second half of the bottle ourselves.
The quality/design of the rooms, fixtures and fittings - in particular a very comfy bed. The facilities of the hotel/gardens were really nice.
It was so pleasant and comfortable. Food and food service was wonderful and fresh. Nice walk into the village and museum and great location to explore all the prehistoric sites plus the church beyond the the back garden is not to be missed as a fortified church. The pool could use an update. The other guest reviews seem harsh. We had a room overlooking front courtyard and there was no road noise and we stayed for 4 nights. Parking was limited in regular space but enough spaces on sides of hotel.
Our room was very comfortable and suited our needs well. Access to and from parking was a little difficult, especially at night. The garden area was very lovely. We ate one dinner in the restaurant, which was disappointing as to quality and value. Our meal was not consistent with a "fine dining" reputation.
We loved the feeling of decor, the proprietors, the amazing garden with pool - and the food was a gastronome's delight - impeccable service and quality - presentation - and the outdoor terrace are beyond description.
The garden. the ambience. the staff and beautiful food all excellent.
Quiet location but very convenient for village - 5 minutes walk, which has all the facilities you would need. Staff could not be more helpful Storage for clothes is a little limited.
It was a charming setting and the staff was very helpful. the room was perfect for the 3 of us. The only problem was that we needed to have the windows open for fresh air and the street noise prevented us from getting much sleep. Perhaps a fan would help. We had one in London and it was a great and easy solution.
Excellent location with a great swimming pool. Triple room was quite cramped and decor was dated. It was expensive for the facilities.
Location, facilities (swimming pool) and friendiness of staff. no air conditioning in room
Well organised, easy access to rooms, good pool for swimming, friendly & informative staff, good breakfast available without fuss.
Traditional hotel. Rooms well furnished bright and airy, friendly staff, secure parking. A five minute walk to the centre of Saumur - really worth a visit
Receptionist spoke good english and provided helpful information about the area. The swimming pool was very nice and clean, just a bit cold, but the weather was lousy anyway during our stay. The hotel groiunds are well maintained and there is a lovely little garden at the back, leading down to a stream. I would have preferred a duvet on the bed, rather than blankets. The bathroom did not have adequate shower facility, only a bath. A kettle in the room would have been helpful.
It was a nice location within walking distance of village, shops and restaurants and with a nice pool area. The decor was extremely dated on the inside of the hotel. Bathrooms were small and lacked ventilation, drain smells. No A/C
The staff were wonderful, really helpful, warm and welcoming. Really some of the nicest people I have ever been met in a hotel. It was handily situated, attractive and clean and had a nice feel. The reception and exterior was lovely. The breakfast was good value also. I didnt really like the room, which I didnt mention to the staff because they were so nice. The beds were very soft and had a french style bolster, the room had mad flowery wallpaper and no built in shower, although the shower head in the bath was adequate it wasnt aesthetically pleasing. Better beds, plain coloured walls and a shower on the wall would make it perfect.
Relaxed and friendly staff made stay there very enjoyable. Hotel is certainly the best positioned in the town. Great swimming pool and gardens. Would not say we did not like but felt there was a lack of choice of breakfast items.
I loved how the rock came into the hotel itself, making it a part of the reason I visited this area. The food was wonderful as well. Wish I had been there when it was warmer so I could try the lovely looking pool. I think the breakfast should be included in the price.
Room was lovely, staff pleasant and excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Our room faced the road and was a bit loud. Also no air conditioning and it was quite hot (although this is common in Europe.)
The hotel was quiet & calm & relaxing. The food was good, the staff very good and the ambience excellent. We did not have enough pillows & what we had were not very good quality. We had to have the window closed because of the noise of the traffic over the railway crossing but we were too warm & lacked fresh air during the night.
Good restaurant, great location
Especially, dinner was good !! It's small problem but there's only one English speaker
Valerie (co-owner with husband Laurent) speaks English well and was very helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of several archaeological sites and near decorated caves we visited. Laurent is the chef, and dinner here was my favorite of the entire trip to France.
A very homely, comfortable and welcoming host. Very nice spacious room with nice oputlook. Will definetly return. No.
In general, our stay was positive. We had a very good dinner in the restaurant and the staff was quite cordial. There definitely needs to be an elevator in the hotel. We had people with bad knees and bad backs in our party and had to lean on the staff for baggage carrying. The twin beds could have more firm mattresses.
Lovely hotel, very comfortable lounge and restaurant, bed room spacious but poor sound proofing between rooms!
Quite countryside location but in easy reach of all the sites Rooms were a bit cramped.
Friendliness of all, situation was stunning with garden with tremendous view. Room was spacious and airy. No
Located in an ancient village, excellent views, landlord is most pleasant. GPS is a bit slow, we used tom-tom, it got us there alright, but you have to wait for signal will catch up with your driving. very poor insulation, feels like everyone in the same room, you can hear clearly your neighbours bathing and using toilets, snoring, etc. However, you feel OK about noise, it is a good place to stay.
Very helpful staff and quiet location.
Hotel Mounea is a quiet little town close to all of the attractions. The managers of the hotel are wonderful and accommodating. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.
Lovely manager, lovely countryside and great food at dinner. Seems like a traditional French rural hotel. Kids loved pool and mimi golf. Room decor a bit dated.
Beautiful countryside and pleasant walking.
Location in the countryside, however was situated away from towns so use of a car is essential.Peace and quiet, nice swimming pool. Very dated decor in the rooms.Very clean but a little dismal due to decoration.
The hotel is well situated, close to several points of interest. The staff were helpful, food was good. Overall, a very positive experience.
The staff warmly welcome us. The room is confortable designed with a simple and old country style. The view on the valley from the balcony was very relaxing. The bathroom is split in 2 rooms (wc and shower), but the shower is modern and functional. The restaurant at the hotel is very good. The cleaning of the room could be improved.
The hotel is surrounded by pleasant countryside. It is only a few miles away from Sarlat & Les Eyzies.
Check in was untill 7pm but I got there at 11:30pm and the nice woman let us in
Landscape and tuoristic amenities close to it , relaxing and quiet enviroment specially for children ( minigolf and swimmingpool), great individual attention (few rooms), good and not very expensive dinner. Slightly old furniture and small TV, but nothing to complain considering the two stars category of the hotel.
The hotel is cosy and beautifully set. Ths stuff is extremly helpful and friendly. Excellent location just in the midst of Perigod attaractions 1. The room was too small. 2. shower with curtain..... 3.no window in the room 4. No lobby !!!!
Tranquility and location No dinner served. The bathroom in No. 4 was too open for us and not very private for the toilet!! It could easily be enclosed.
Quiet, comfortable, friendly and very competent owners. Easy to get to and near the places we wished to visit.
Lovely old farmhouse and building in attractive setting. Very friendly and helpful owner. Wonderful having the swimming pool as it was weather was hot. Not a complaint but if you want an evening meal you need to arrange with owner before you arrive
Quiet country surroundings and close proximity to Sarlat and the Dordogne No
hotel with the caracter of a chambred'hôtes -beautiful location - very gentle hosts -clean enquiet room
Family run by an absolutely charming couple. They made our stay a delight. The food is excellent too. The village has few amenities. There is nowhere else on foot to eat or drink. Not a problem for a short stay as eating in is a must!
This hotel came up to our expectations. It was clean and I think had recently been refurbished. no pool
Where to start. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed, central to all the goodies that the region has to offer. The best cuisine for miles at affordable prices, pleasently served and in good ambiance. I would recommend to all and sundry, although the restaurant is not for a young family. Watch out for your hosts, they are a captivating couple, with simlpe English, but a joy to be with and the type you instantly warm to. Sitting right on the river, just outside of Lalinde the location is perfect for easy access to Sarlat, Perigord and Berjerac with all the medival hamlets, towns and villages, the most spectacular caves, landscapes and scenery, chateaus and castles, or just enjoy the finest cuisine you could hope for. Not a long enough stay.
Côte Rivage is the most romantic hotel I have ever visited. It is situated on the Dordogne riverside in a charming small village. The hotel is elegantly decorated and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Our room had a balcony with a beautiful view of the river. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the nice lady at the reception. She even gave us a little present when we were leaving. In the evening we had a nice meal at the restaurant, and breakfast was also good.
Very good room with balcony and view over River Dordogne and hotel in a very peaceful location. Only one menu which we thought was overpriced, so not ideal for our stay of 5 nights. Relatively isolated location meant that a journey was required for variety.
The room was clean and convenient to the castle area. There is a pool that was sparkling clean but too cold to use in June. We will probably try another hotel in the area when we return. Our room was on the third floor and no elevator, it was hard to negotiate with a large suitcase. We ate dinner the first evening and paid a great deal for very badly prepared chicken which was extremely tough and did not come off the bone. The vegetables were unimaginative and the desert was rather bland. We did not eat there again. We had to ask three times for more bath tissue, a light was broken in the bathroom over the sink and there were two other lights bulbs out in the room. Children who lived at the hotel woke us one morning. There were no extra plugs to charge cameras and cell phones in our room.
Good central location for key sights in Perigord Noir. Next to busyish main road, so some traffic noise in rooms on the road side of the hotel. Fantastic views over to nearby castles, so the name of the hotel is a good description. Nice terrace (with pool) with views over the valley and to the hotels. Good restaurant, with lovely food, which was a highlight of our stay in the area. Compact bedroom, with limited storage space for clothes, so felt a little like living out of a suitcase, given that we were there 3 nights.
We had a room with a balcony on which there was a table, chairs, lounge chairs etc... It was great to sit out there and sip a bottle of wine looking at the chateaux lit up at night. I also loved the fact that there was a small fridge in the room...... now if only there had been a coffee maker and internet access for those of us who do not carry laptops or Ipads...
Fabulous location. Swimming pool and room beautiful. Dinner very good. Breakfast poor with little choice. Room bathrooms not working, leaking shower. Too many fake flowers.
Location was good for touring the Dordogne area. Pool was nice after a hot day sightseeing. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent - superb food and service. Morning checkout was slow due to only one person doing breakfast service and reception.
The pool was absolutely wonderful. The food brilliant & room ok. The hotel in a good location. No drawers to put clothes in & due to the heat a fan would have been usseful. No extracter fan in the bathroom which, once you had had a shower made the room unbearable.
The staff were pleasant. The room we had was v good and large. Lot of plumbing noises from other rooms! Breakfast. We thought the breakfast was poor. We were considering going out for breakfast as there was no fresh bread and the menu was limited. We did point this out to the staff.
We stayed for one night at the end of our holiday, it was the perfect place to stay. The room was clean and comfortable and the view superb, overlooking fields of corn and asparagas, and at night the surrounding chateaux were lit, very romantic. The swimming pool was very welcome on a hot day and clean. The staff were pleasant and at least one spoke very good English. I would stay again. Breakfast was ok but small for the price!
A wonderful hotel, great location. Polite and helpful staff.
Coffee was lukewarm for breakfast but this was rectified the next day.
Excellent location within village and Perigord Noir area. Very good food, if you could afford it! Friendly, helpful staff. No wall point to put shower head on, when having a shower. Toilet not fixed to floor securely. Small bath. Not much in way of a comfortable longe area inside the hotel.
Attitude of staff and restaurant nd food quality. Room and particularly bathroom were too small.
Close to the river and an easy walk to restaurants. Free parking behind the hotel.
Nice and comfortable rooms
THe staff were very welcoming and helpfuk, the location was exelent
. insects in the bed. Too much traffic noise during the night
Very pleasant staff, relaxing and enjoyable hotel.
We loved the service, the food, the central location. We thought it was gorgeous and we are already planning our next trip. We had the junior suite great value for you money. Please note we upgraded to the junior suite We enjoyed it all!!
Friendly helpful staff at a small hotel in an ideal location for sightseeing. We also enjoyed the breakfasts.
Beynac is a very pretty small town, complete with its own castle. Village well worth exploring. The photos indicated that the hotel was overlooking water, when in actual we could only obtain breakfast at that site. Hotel rooms very small, particularly the shower which was very difficult to get in and out of. We had not expected to be so cramped.
sImple, no frills, nice, clean place to stay. a bit noisy but its not the hotels fault it is just near one of the main roads
Air con, very clean, good location in centre of village. Breakfast is not in the restaurant its above a stairwell in the hotel - very strange. No parking.
The building was interesting and in a good location, and was a good value. The owner was very nice and accommadating. For instance he picked us up and dropped us back off at the train station 10 km away. As a two star hotel you can't expect everything to be perfect. The shower had a broken sprayer, so it wouldn't stay in place on the vertical rod. The room decor needed some updating (dark and in need of minor maintenance).
Clean great location for this quiet small town Dont stay in beynac if you want a bustling town with things to do
Great location - Beynac is a gorgeous village! (Access to car parking was good too, if you don't mind a bit of a walk up hill!) Breakfast was included, but I never did manage to find out where it was served!
Clean, friendly, helpfull Early closure of restaurant
The location was amazing, right underneath a huge castle on a cliff. Our room was right on the road and although there was some traffic noise in the morning, it was great to open the big shutters and lean out into the street. Parking wasn't a problem, free after 7pm. Although there were a number of restaurants nearby we drove to a nearby camping ground for a real value for money meal. Sarlat is only 9kms away and easy to find. Chose this hotel based on price and closeness to Sarlat. Was gobsmacked as we drove into the village and saw the castle on the hill, like staying in a fairytale! The size of the room was almost claustrophic. If the removed the enormous freestanding wardrobe from the bedroom it would allow a bit more space and if a wardrobe is necessary just have the one in the bathroom. The suitcase stand is located in the bathroom right beside the washbasin - a problem if you splash water about. Our room was right behind the reception desk and as there was no one there people arriving thought that our room was the office. This was bit embarrassing. Didn't have breakfast as there didn't appear to be anything other than wheat products (no yoghurt, cheese etc for gluten free diets).
pretty village. convenient. Photographs indicated that it was by the river. The hotel was 100 meters up a hill away from the river - the restaurant of the hotel was by the river.
I loved the surroundings and the beatiful setting. Enjoyed the swimming pool too. A shame that the hotel did not have a restaurant.
the owners and staff are very welcoming and kind. Also we liked the salted swimmingpool and the terrace is beautiful. The breakfast was excellent as well as the home made apple pie! Thank you for that. Also thank you for the snacks that were offered by the house when we were having some white wine sitting on the terrace, besides the breakfast room. May be it's an idea to place the buffet against one of the long walls (i.e. in front of the kitchen door) in stead of in front of the fire place. Also I liked the mosaic on the floor, which is not seen now. May be some light snacks could be served at the terrace.
staff very friendly, breakfasts excellent with lots of variety no
As old couple did not speak English at all, I could not communicate with them and then had bad experience. There was a big dog suddenly chasing me when I entered the garden. It was very scarely.
Everything Hot water was on and off. Finished my shower with cold water in chilly morning.
The hotel itself is is quiet and beautiful , it has a good size pool which we were unable to enjoy because of the weather . The location is excellent with easy reach (short drive) from main places of interests. No dinning facility option
Grand building in a beautiful setting. Staff were attentive and helpful. Room was clean and spacious.
The building is magnificent, and in a great location. We elected to stay in the annex, which was absolutely fine, although in retrospect would prefer to have stayed in the chateau. We were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Due to a strike by French Air Traffic control, we were unable to stay the for the first of our two nights booked - whilst this was unfortunate, the hotel did not charge for the 'lost' night. Although the hotel does not provide meals, an excellent continental breakfast was available.
Staff were very friendly. View was really lovely. Room was very hot (fan only available)
Beautiful building and grounds with a lovely terrace where we were able to get a beverage in the afternoon, everyone was pleasant and accomidating. Breakfast was mostly breads. We booked the "bagain" room for 108 E. After seeing the beautiful building we were pretty disappointed to be led up to the highest tower room #9 (four flights of stairs) with two very small IKEA type twin beds - something like a former maid's quarters. It was hot and stuffy and terribly uncomfortable - we didn't sleep at all as our feet dangled off the end of the beds - no romance whatsoever. Opening the windows was not really possible as the wind was fearsome. I guess worst of all was the fact that there were many keys left on the board downstairs - they could have easily upgraded us and made a very happy customer. This room should have been used as the last resort - no matter what was booked. Glimpes of other rooms looked better.
Friendly staff, and the view from the room was fantastic. The rooms were nice, and spacious.
location superb Standard of service only adequate, certain areas grubby and badly in need of refurbishment. O.K. for a one night stop-over which is a shame as Le Bugue is an ideal base for visiting the area and the hotel could be a wonderful attraction
The staff was excellent, from the reception to the restaurant servers to the lounge/bar attendants and housekeeping. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The location on the river is fabulous, and the proximity to restaurants, the marché en plein air, the boulangeries and the delights of the Vézère Valley are exceptional. Definitely request a room overlooking the river. The roof top terrasse was spectacular at sunset. The rooms could use some updating, but everything was clean and in working order. All non-smoking rooms would be an advantage. If you're not used to traveling outside the US, you may not be as pleased with this hotel as we were.
We were made extremely welcome in this very family orientated hotel.
The staff couldn't of been anymore friendly or helpfull ! The rooms are big and spacious and the view was beautiful (we booked a river view room) Although the rooms are big and spacious it was far too warm, there isn't any airconditioning and it's a must in France in August!!!!
Very pleasant, helpful staff who had a cheerful attitude with customers and each other. Very well located
the location is very good, the staff friendly and helpful, we did not like the standard of comfort this is not 3star quality. the rooms are basic decor poor in need of refurbishment, menu lacks imagination
Position in the city and surrounding area (lot of sites to visit by car: caves, castles etc)
Its location is quite good. The village is nice, but specially due to its surroundings: the river, the villages of the region,... The personal was nice and the swimmingpool is great. We ate in its restaurant, and the meal was good. The worst thing is our case was the bed: they should be urgently changed. It is an old-fashion hotel, but somehow charming at the sametime...
The staff at Le Vieux Logis was incredible! They were SO customer service oriented and met our every need. The little town of Tremolat was very charming. There was nothing we did not like.
I loved everything. The service, friendliness, food, rooms, comfort, pool were all great
The grounds and location of this property are very beautiful. It is a good location to explore the Perigord area. The resteraunt and bistro serve very good food.
Excellent staff, excellent food, beautiful gardens and rooms
The atmosphere, the gardens, the relationship between the inside (room, lounge) and the outside (garden and courtyard).
We liked everything about the hotel: brilliant friendly staff; lovely food and wine [we had the menu gastronomique]; excellent room; most attractive setting, lovely grounds in an interesting village.
The staff were super helpful and friendly, and the restaurant was wonderful. Nothing
the servis was excellent the room we stayed in would benefit from a bit more illumination inside
Although our room was small it had all the elements and opened on to the lovely garden. We liked the understated luxurious French country house atmosphere - the gourmet restaurant with good wine list and excellent service - the restaurant has only one Michelin star - a gross oversight in our opinion - a second is certainly deserved especially for the tasting menu with wine. The friendly and helpfull staff and general attention to detail in a professional but relaxed way. Although not a budget option no visit to the Dordogne would be complete without at least one night here! We are already planning our next visit! We wouldn't change a thing!
The food was wonderful. The staff were very helpful. The hotel and gardens were delightful.
What a delightful place and great little hotel. Highly recommend the restaurant in the hotel - after eating there on the first night we did not eat anywhere else during our stay. Our room looked over the Dordogne River and up towards the chateau on the cliffs above. Nothing
Good restaurant and friendly service
The setting was superb, right beside the Dordogne. The Chateau above the hotel was a real highlight along with the gardens at Murreasyac? amazing buxus huge garden. The food/ menu could be more quality less quantity.
We were very pleasantly surprised - the hotel was much nicer than we had expected for such a reasonable room rate. The hotel is superbly located in the village - right beneath the castle and looking across to the river. (There's a free car park across the road, so no need to navigate narrow streets either!) The staff were all really friendly, the room was nice enough, clean and warm, and the restaurant was brilliant. (Massive portions and good selection. Good breakfasts too.) We stayed for three days and used the hotel as a base to explore the area - had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay there. We thought the hotel was excellent.
beautiful location, great food, lovely owners
Enjoyed the delightful atmosphere and excellent menu.
Christophe was very attentive
The helpfulness of Christophe and Sarissa, the managers. The food was excellent in the restaurant. We also loved the hotel location and the availability of parking near the hotel.
the bed was comfortable. The room had a balcony which was shared but still nice to look out onto. we booked a budget room and didn't realise that this meant 'budget' as in old and scruffy. the loo was separate from the shower and hand wash basin and as you lay in bed you looked at both cubicles. The loo door didn't close properly and the shower/washbasin cubicle did not have a door. The staircase leading up to the room was in need of decoration to the point where the wall paper was black.
Excellent restaurant Room was small and very hot. Pool area is through the basement and you pass by some very smelly bins to get to the pool. The pool area also only has chairs and no sun loungers.
The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and very efficient. Lovely pool and grounds but no real view.
Fantastic relaxing hotel, Immaculate service>
Upon arrival we were greeted by the charming receptionist who directed us to our room. The first impression was lasting. The staff, particularly Florence were enchanting and made our stay of 7 nights memorable.
La Métairie is a charming hotel in a lovely setting. We enjoyed the small, intimate feeling and welcoming hospitality. The food was fantastic. I booked a twin room and in booking sought assurances that there were indeed two beds in the room. However when we arrived we were given a double room and told that as they were full there was nothing that could be done about it. It was disappointing and out of keeping with the rest of our stay that there was little by way of apology or offer of discount.
Charming, well-located small hotel with an excellent restaurant. Christophe will make you special dinners for the regular cost. He also speaks English very well and is anxious to help. Hotel is very close to aquarium and other attractions for kids.
Staff were extremely friendly and the rooms were very clean. The hotel was warm.
The location of the Hotel and friendliness of the staff. Not really
Very friendly, excellent food, excellent value. Highly recommended.
Freindly and helpful staff. English speaking manager. Very good location, both locally and for trweling in the area. Food in the restaurant was a culinary achievement. A recommended choice for staying a few days in the Dordogne area.
Nice family-run hotel. We particularly enjoyed the mannerly dog next door at dinner every evening. No lift. Our room on the top floor was a long climb with heavy suitcases.
good value, good location
excellent staff and service
Hotel staff were always so eager to please would have liked the star rating to have appeared on the website
Excellent restaurant/food No lift (acsender)
Everyone was very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and I just relaxed!
Convenient for my work meetings. I asked for a quite room and ended with a very noisy room above the bar and on the main street. I had to work in the evening and the broadband in the room as advertised by the hotel was not available. There was an internet cafe which was totally unsuitable for confidential work. A disappointment as this was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel.
Located in the centre of Le Bugue. Very basic room, common areas badly lit
convenient and value for money it was basic
Hotel was in a lovely old building right in the centre of Le Bugue, so we were able to go for an enjoyable walk in the evening. Had to wait a while before staff stopped at the desk so that we could check in. Were told we could park outside but not that we needed a parking disk as the hotel was in a blue disk area and so we had to move the car. Then we found out that the hotel had the blue disks but had not offered this information.
Pleasant staff Nothing bad about the hotel but some of the guests there were noisy early mornngs - (guests banging doors etc and noisy water systems from toilets etc in other rooms)
The staff was very friendly and flexible. We arrived around 02:00 am and that was no problem, they also left the breakfast longer to let the kids sleep longer. It was not too clean. There were hairs in the bathroom and shower that did not belong to us.
Simple, comfortable, friendly, excellent food, attentive service
A beautifully restored small chateau. tastefully done; an excellent meal; very friendly owners and staff. We'll be back!
great location, fabulous food...and very attractive village on your doorstep
We received a very warm welcome at this lovely hotel
Ideal location, welcoming staff, and comfortable accommodation - would certainly return Unfortunately the restaurant was not open, but the one recommended was excellent and we understand owned by the hotel and within easy reach.
Chateau style building, nice pool and bar. Good food. First floor rooms much bigger than second. Carpets a bit shabby in public areas.
The Best. The food was exceptional!
Pool, setting in a historic town, welcome, friendly owners Shower is difficult to use
A very nice place to stay, with little touches that make it a pleasant stay
