Convenient location: in comprehensive distance Mount Saint Michel and Saint Malo. Hotel on the sea coast. Few cosy local restaurants, where You could enjoy sea food. Irritating smell, coming from kitchen downstairs. Small bathroom; poor furnishing
Hotel de la Baie has absolutely everything: great location; welcoming and helpful staff; fine modern facilities; and excellent cooking. All those things would normally add up to high cost but the Hotel de la Baie is remarkably good value. The rooms are very reasonably priced and the restaurant will awaze you. And just as you are about to leave you find that breakfast is only 5 Euros. Shocking. Go there.
Clean rooms, very close to shore, quiet. Close to places like cancale, st.malo, dinard, dinan... no hair dryer although it is mentioned in the web site.
We found the hotel and restaurant closed but a key had been left for us to get in. A booking should not have been accepted by yourselves. We would welcome your explanation. Hotel effectively closed. Room outdated and shower control fell apart.Hardly a superior room!
Nothing whatsoever Room 9 at top of Hotel overlooked roof of nearby Building. V.noisy Toilet when flushing. V.bright Blue standby light on TV - i.e. unable to switch off TV. V. unprofessional waitress in Restaurant - e,g. no notes taken when ordering meals - result = wrong dish arrived for my wife.= long - winded dispute when paying bill on departure
The location was excellent with only a short walk to beach and village. Breakfast was excellent and had lots of choices. The pool could be opened earlier in the morning than 9pm before breakfast like most other hotels with facilities. The evening dinner menu should be more varied and generous with portions.
really nothing at the hotel; appart fromt the very nice view .and the access to the beach hotel seemed very 'run down' and old fashionned. definately not value for money for a short stay. the staff was non existant, the rooms were nothing better than a cheap roadside hotel type.breakfast was appaling considering the cost.if you go there for the spa the experience is probably different
Pleasant surrounding and good quality Value for money - 75 / 25 - It is a little expensive for what you actually get in room .Good quality facilites for spa and reelax but rooms very sparse.
A Very good location. Excellent views. Good linguistic skills of staff. The building is getting tired, time for a review of details, not good enough just to use maintenance staff to keep it alive. After many years in the service industries I would be happy to elaborate. Car parking is only just acceptable, a parking attendant would ease the frustration caused when seeking a space.
Far better than what I expected.
Its location... Room Size
The position of the hotel with all rooms facing the sea. The main attraction in the Hotel is Talasso. However if the hotel want to attract more guests and to Talasso as they must speak at least main languages. Now only a few people speak English and no one - Russian. There is no information in Russian inside the hotel. The website booking.com has mor information that hotel and Talasso themselves.
The services of the Hotel, the position and the breakfast are very good. It's incredibile that in such kind of Hotel some persons of the staff don't speak english!!
Cleanliness of hotel in general - staff in terms of attitude and service Breakfast was poor quality for the price - we elected to have breakfast elsewhere
Nice room & restaurant. However, I want bathroom in the room.
Cleanliness and help when checking in.
We really enjoyed our stay at La Mere Champlain. We had a nice room with balcony. The owners are very welcoming and the staff is very kind as well. The bathroom is not large but everything you need is there and it's clean and pleasant. The breakfast is ok (ham, cheese, croissants). Before we arrived at Cancale we stayed in some other hotels (Loire, Nantes) and I have the impression breakfast in French hotels has improved. The restaurant is ok. Busy, so book a table in advance. But if you are an oyster lover you also have to try the oyster at the oyster bar "Au pied d'Cheval", it's only a few meters from the hotel. Anyway if we go back to Cancale we will certainly stay again at La Mere Champlain. No remarks. The only advise I would give the owners is to install air condition in the rooms, because the windows of the rooms are large and the hotel is at the sunny side, so I can imagine that in summer it might be too warm in the rooms.
hotel was excellent with position overlooking sea and walks through interesting port town parking and carrying bags was a bit of a hassle
Very cheerful staff in the evening and good welcome to the hotel. Balcony and view lovely. Food was good. Service in the morning was poor and loud jazz playing was not appropriate for breakfast time.
Lovely situation overlooking the sea-nice balcony Not much passing traffic- on the flat Good selection of restaurants nearby None
The seaview from the bedroom which is beautiful...
That the bed for the third person was a proper bed and not just a put-u-up or a mattress on the floor. The hotel was not overly decorated as some French hotels tend to be. Fantastic shower!
We had evening meals and breakfasts, both were very good. One evening meal was from the a-la-carte and was excellent in every way. Another evening I chose from one of the set menues also very good and excellent value. The staff were excellent contrary to some reviews that I had seen. Nothing.
I found the staff to be attentive to the guests needs and able to communicate in the english language when needed.
The location is convenient to the surrounding areas we were visiting. The staff were friendly and helpful. A cute place for the budget we had. The bar lounge/outside deck area is nice when watching the sky change colors over the water in the mornings. We left out the Do Not Disturb sign on our door when we would leave during the day, however, the room was still entered and cleaned. We never brought it up to the staff though, but everything else was fine.
Very helpful, breakfast very good value
Excellent friendly and knowlegable staff, Good restaurant facilities Would have like tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms also I felt the triple room was crowded.
Good value for money. Nice breakfast. Room narrowness. Ceiling 2 meters high.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and there was a very good restaurant for this budget end hotel. The rooms were very clean, especially the bathroom. It was very simply furnished. Small rooms and no snacks available, but would stay again
Very friendly staff who did well to speak english. Our room needed a towel rail in the bathroom, and another easy chair. The menu needs to change every few days
We were travelling down to La Rochelle so was an overnight stay. The bed was uncomfortable.
Very handy and attractive location for catching ferry from St Malo. A clean, efficient operation with well-trained staff.
The service and size of the cold plate of food that I had - I arrived after the restuarant had closed, but had a massive and very tasty selection of cheeses, pates, bread etc, with three desserts - it was sufficient for my breakfast as well. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Comfortable bed, good shower - what more could you want for an overnight stay? Nothing
Convenient location after a late evening arrival from Jersey.
Excellent quality hotel in all respects; reception, service, staff, comfort and the restaurant was quite outstanding. The hotel was full and we took the only room available and yet we could not have asked for better service or attention. Will certainly return.
Our room had a small and very attracive terrace that overlooked the very well-kept gardens.
Really good food and excellent, unobtrusive service
The hotel is ideally placed for a night before the St Malo Ferry.Every thing about the food and service justified it's Michellin Star category. We went on a friend's recommendation and we would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a special treat.
pleasant and helpful staff, superb food in luxurious surroundings, great rooms and swimming pool and close to the coast. What more could you want.
Very pleasant staff. Attention to detail. Amazing food and convivial surroundings
Excellent as ever. First class service, lovely room and superb food. Also close to Cancale for a big plate of oysters for lunch on the way to the ferry.
i like the responsiveness of staff ,the restaurant no
Comfortable, nicely decorated, peaceful, warm welcome from the staff
We were impressed with the lovely, spacious accommodation and the cleanliness of the room and bath. The dining areas are well appointed and provide excellent surrounding for dining. The service was also quite good. No
Very well sited close to the quay. Very nice room which appears to have been recently re-fitted. Excellent breakfast in popular restaurant attached. No lift
It was an excellent location to the town and had a good restaurant. The room was small and dark and very hot. Staff were busy and preoccupied to help. We were offered alternative accommodation for our last night but in the end it did not happen.
Comfort of hotel, its location and the great restaurant. Location of our room we were above back door of kitchen which was noisy.
The hotel very welcoming, smart and comfortable The ajoining restaurant great value
The view of the shoreline from the open eating area was attractive. The service was pleasant and efficient. Fourth storey bedroom difficult of access (no lift) and wall table bracket broken. (reported)
No WiFi in the room.
the design of the rooms Although it has been furnished with elegance, is neglected.
nice seaside location and a good restaurant bed was very small double and uncomfortable
The sea views coupled with a buzzy atmosphere and delicious sea food the air conditioning plant room along the second floor landing appeaars not to be sound proofed and creates a continuous droning noise
Lovely room. Lovely restaurant, but expensive. Huge range of shops and places to eat nearby. Very clean and comfortable. Great location right next to harbour. Breakfast was expensive. Room was hot at night & no air con. Noisy with window open.
Facilities and helpful multi-lingual staff. The pool, gym and garden terrace were a great feature as was the location. Given ugrade from superior to deluxe as staying for 6 nights. Rooms could do with tea/coffee making facility and an additional chair or two. Although the breakfast is excellent some form of express breakfast would be good as 20 euros is expensive if only a coffee and croissant is required. Very noisey in early hours as no airconditioning means windows need to be left open.
situation and friendly staff
Location in Dinard was perfect. The bedroom provided did not have air conditioning.
Very professional staff No complaints
friendly, helpful staff having to pay extra for the car
Just about everything you would want at one site. VFM probably depends on whether you want to use all that the hotel has to offer. The hotel made a mistake with our booking and could not accommodate us the first night - their response was excellent (eg free alternative hotel, upgade for the remainder of our stay). If your room has a balcony, ask for the wing on the right as you look at the hotel as it gets the sun - if that is what you want but means your room also gets warmer. Rooms at the front of the hotel can suffer from a bit of street noise and as they overlook the foyer, also from those returning from the casino, more so if you have to leave your window open to cool down. Hotel car park a bit pricey at E16 per day.
Staff were helpful and the room was very comfortable. Lovely swimming pool. Luckily we spotted that we'd been charged for breakfast (40 euros!) when we'd only had coffee.
The welcome was good and as expected. Garden, terrace and pool pleasant. Staff helpful, pleasant. Disappointed in room- dark with no view, not good value for. money
Excellent facilities & Location The fact that Parking & Breakfast was an extra charge.
Quality of the swimming pool and the roof garden to relax in.
A newly opened hotel (April 2010) with ultra modern fittings clean and tidy.Friendly staff and v helpful.
it was adequate for our needs being on the ground floor we were unable to leave our window open and because the radiator was on all night in the bathroom it made the room rather hot
Peacefull location out of main resort area staff helpfull newly refurbished Roms on small size
Although the hotel was a little of town, the facilities (room, restaurant, breakfast) were excellent and the staff were exceedingly helpful. It was good to have a car park available within the hotel grounds. Not applicable
Very helpful staff who spoke 1st class English. The room was nice and comfortable, with a posh bathroom. Do on the bathroom was a little difficult to close, but apart from that room was excellent.
The Hotel is well situated for the N137 route into St Malo and despite its proximity to the motorway was quiet. The hotel is located in a commercial area with only a Macdonald's or Pizza take away to compete with its restaurant. The ambience of the restaurant was uninspiring and the food overpriced.
Perfect location for our needs having a restover before going on to the Ferry the following morning. Excellent breakfast and evening meal Tends to be getting a little pricey for a one night stay
A good welcome and good value for money with regard to the room and the meals we took there.
comfortable room.plenty of hot water good central heating, easy access. secure parking. good TV. We booked an evening meal. The buffet was very unattractive, the main course was ok,but the dessert was stale and unappetising. Breakfast was fine.
Staff could nt find our reservation when arrived.took some time.
The place was very clean and tidy
Easy to find. Very comfortable. Friendly welcome. Good food.
Reasonably quite and convenient for the ferries to UK
Friendly staff, good choise of food in restaurant
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, a good spread for breakfast. A little overpriced.
It is situated near the center of the city The best room's price is much higher than the standart, but the difference is so little (about 3 square meters - it means nothing)
We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very central to the beach and restaurants Our room although being very clean and comfortable was a bit small
the exceptional friendliness of the staff. We liked everything. Would have been nice if the hotel has restaurant facilities.
Efficient reception, comfortable room, clean modern shower, external electric window shutters. Walking distance to beach 1 minute, walking distance to good selection of great restautrants 2 minutes, great walks along the seafront with summer boat service across the estuary to St Malo. BBC World on the TV lots of French channels but so many times you can watch the news if you don't speak French, other hotels in this town have more English tv channels which would be a plus.
proximity to the beach
Recently modernised very comfortable helpful staff
Friendly staff. Good location. Comfortable room Room rather dark. Would have liked to have coffee/tea making facilities
The funny/friendly attitude of the staff though very professionnal - location - design - "piano bar" Price/quality of breakfast
The small swimming pool facility All facilities except the small swimming pool were not included, and cost Euros 20 per half hour!
Excellent value hotel, located in a nice garden, with swimming pool and spa. 15 minutes stroll to the town of Cancale and its port. The port of Cancale is fantastic for good, well priced sea food. In addition, Saint Malo, Dinard, Dinan and Mount St Michael are all within easy driving distance.
Clean, comfortable with a very good firm bed. You can walk to the port with its great range of bars and eateries in about ten mins - approx 1 km. Nice if you wan't a good meal with a bottle or two of wine. No need to drive. Nice pool and a gym. Quite noisy due to the main road that runs close to the accommodation. Windows must be closed if you wan't any sleep. Walls are thin because they are basically log cabins, but our adjoining occupants were considerate, so it was not a problem.
Good location (for St Malo ferries) and price, interestingly-shaped 2-floor rooms in chalets were clean and well furnished. Small pool was great for a quick splash. Walk down to Cancale Port (15mins) for restaurants and you won't be disappointed. We chose not to have the breakfast at EUR 7.00 extra.
Shower very slippery and needs a non slip mat
Excellent location, very clean and tidy hotel, well kept gardens and helpful/proffesional staff. Thin walls in rooms, could hear above and adjascent rooms using the bathroom. F.ully appreciate its a French hotel in France but would have been nice to have one English Language TV station even if only BBC World news
The facilities (particularly the swimming pool), cleanliness & ease of access Slightly cramped feeling to say it was a studio - it had everything we needed but we thought there may have been just a bit more space to sit
receptionist spoke fanastic english, pool was a bonus for kids on rainy day. the mattress on the bed was devine. good base location for st malo and the beautiful Cancale, gardens lovely Tiny living space for a family of 4. cleaning staff were very persistant in their knocking at the door to do room,
Environment of the hotel with private parking, the cleaness of the hotel, breakfast room is very cozy
poor quality of the first room shown to us; dark and difficult to access ,certainly not a top price room. D9ning room and bar closed on mondays
Free laundry and great reception staff.
location was good for exploring surrounding area.Peaceful and quiet position.
the quality of the accomodation the add ons were expensive - breakfast, drinks etc
Excellant room. Well maintained grounds. Helpful and friendly staff.
The setting of the hotel was very tranquil and well laid out. There was a small pool , which we didnt use. The restaurant was closed, which was fortunate as we found much better value in a restaurant in the nearby town. The 'suite' which we had booked for a treat turned out to be 2 small and badly lit rooms in the attic connected by a narrow passage .Access was via two flights of a steep spiral staircase. Once we saw it , we tried to negotiate an alternative but the receptionist refused. There was a complete lack of comfort and sense of space, and although the bathroom was well fitted out it, it also had a sloping room and felt cramped. As the door was directly opposite the toilet door , skilful co-ordination in passing and use of doors was required.
Beautiful setting in gardens and the Manoir is a lovely villa. Les Angelots bedroom was large and overlooked the bay of Mont St Michel. The Manoir has lovely antique furnishings and is ideal for someone who does not want a standard chain hotel experience. The swimming pool roof could have been pushed back as it was August - was also easy to hit your head on roof when leaving the pool. Old decayed greenhouse could be removed.
We travel to Cancale a couple of times a year and have already passed on details of this hotel to friends. We shall definitely stay here in the future. A true find!! None
Lovely room, very luxurious bathroom, excellent breakfast
Freindly staff, good service, quiet, no noise, good room Too far from the town of Cancale, you need your car to go and have dinner.
The location of the hotel is lovely overlooking the mouth of the River Rance. The staff are friendly and the food excellent with an attractive terrace for eating or drinking.
quite comfortable, very small room, the restaurant and cafe was extremely expensive for a 3 star hotel, staff very friendly. room, bed and toilet far too small. Towels too small and thin.
The hotel is magnificently located, the tide laps at the door and the gentle sound of the tidal flow filled the room. The room was spacious and stylishly comfortably furnished. Free high speed internet access was appreciated. A quitet corner of Dinard with ready access to everything is rare and greatly appreciated.
Lovely room with great view. I think at the rate they were charging , breakfast should have been included. The rooms were incredibly noisy and it was possible to hear neighbours flushing toilets etc. The bathroom smelt of drains but admittedly when we mentioned this on departure the staff said they would look in to this.
nice hosts, good breakfast, sea view. room a bit small
Clean and tidy hotel with attentive staff. Food good. Food rather expensive.
Staff were not particularly friendly compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Dinard and was not child friendly. Could not get a reservation in the restaurant during our stay which was one of the reasons for booking this hotel. Not the hotels fault as maybe we should have made table reservations earlier however got the impression they did not like children in the restaurant. Unfortunately the room was very small and did not reflect the pictures on the website. Lack of wardrobe space and the toilet was very small - felt like you were in a cupboard!. Could only keep the windows open with the exterior blind down which blocked out all the light. Probably not an issue for someone without children but not a suitable room with children.
Great position and excellent value. Definitely to be visited again.
Stayed the 13th to the 20th Sept 2009 and found the staff very friendly and helpful.Recommend you book early and ensure you have a room with a sea view like we did. Balconies on all first and second floor sea view rooms. Parking was fine but could imagine in the summer to be more difficult.
A beautifully modernised hotel in a fabulous location. Rated !0/10
Very comfortable rooms, scrupulously clean and delicious breakfast. We reserved 2 rooms with sea views but only one had any view of the sea, the room being at the top of the building. Apart from that, all very satisfactory.
I liked the position and good comfy room - excellet bed and views across the bay. I didn't like having to climb 3 flights of stairs - or that parking was in a public barrier car park - that did cause some anxiety.
The hotel is very central to Cancale and ideal for evenings with young children. The accommodation is comfortable and excellent with young children.
room comfortable ,position excellent, breakfast grossly overpriced for a croissant and a baguette minimal butter and jam 9 Euros. I felt that the price we paid for the room should have included the minimal breakfast!!
Very helpful when I discovered I had booked the wrong night. Interesting and quirky hotel in a prime location on the seafront in Cancale close to a multitude of excellent seafood restaurants or the oyster stalls if you want to open your own and eat them sitting on the slipway watching the tide come in with Mont St Michel visible in the distance. You must be aware that check in ends at 19.00.
We liked the way that the atmosphere of hospitality and welcome was extended by the patron in such an unobtrusive way.
Very close to many seafood restaurants
The room was comfortable, the double bed was large. The en suite facilities were good. The owner was amicable and made us welcome. Sea front loaction & proximity to a vast array of excellent restaurants. The breakfast was a little expensive for what we received and quite basic. No choice. Parking was a little hit and miss - we found one of the last spaces in the public car park. Otherwise I'm not sure how far we would have had to park.
Exceptional room with personal touch; cleanliness; care- when late, the owner called the agency to alert them while leaving detailed instructions- when I called him he left me with his personal cellular no. We could not stay more nights, since we have already been booked somewhere else.
The location is excellent for the port area of Cancale The Parking is opposite and though paying is not too bad No
central location (though far from ferry station, 10 min walk), big rooms uncomfortable beds (they move when you move), dark in the corridors
Booking.com said there was private parking that is why we booked but we were told on arrival that there wa not. A little disappointing.
Hotel location is excellent -just 50 metres from main beach. Rooms were small but clean and sea view was good. Hotel needed lots of tlc but could be great. Breakfast was expensive and lacked value and choice. Proprietor did not really build up any rapport, or show us the hotels rooms or its facilities or discuss the general ammenities within the resort.
The location just across from the main beach is perfect and it is handy for the shops and local restaurants.
Its location close to the beach Breakfast was expensive
comfortable beds, clean and functionning facilities, good breakfast, easy access to town, not too noisy pity no parking, pity no hospitality tray (tea and coffee), would like real soap.
close to beach and all amenities. good value for money.
Great position and lovely outdoor patio area No bar!
100 yrds from beach, comfortable room, 24 hrs come & go. no coffee/tea making facilities in rooms (minor niggle)
A friendly and convenient base from which to search for a now-defunct hotel I stayed in as a child in 1954! Didn't dislike anything
