Pros: Amazing place on Blaye. A work in progress with passion. Felt like owning a mansion for a few days with incredible collection of antiques and artwork. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place. Wife fell in love and didn’t want to leave. Helena and Fernando and their son, Lucas, were fantastic hosts. Merci beaucoup!!
Cons: Exceptionally nothing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The manager Helena is a fabulous host. The property is beautifully designed and finished and in a beautiful wine region in France. The breakfast was superb.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The exceptional rating this accommodation receives is well deserved. The conversion work that Fernando and Helena have carried out on the property has been done very well, and the addition of a pool has added something extra. We loved the way that they have kept as many original features as possible yet have created modern, comfortable rooms in which to stay. We slept in the Angelus room overlooking the pool and it has an enormous double bed which still feels lost in the middle of the room due to its size. The best feature without a doubt was the modern bathroom with a huge walk in shower. Attention to detail was fantastic and there are interesting accessories and ornaments not only in the rooms but all over the property. Breakfast is a communal affair around a large table and is a great opportunity to mix with other guests. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely stay here again when we can
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place and wonderful hosts. Very rare to find a perfect place such as this. Will definitely try to stay longer next time!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was a good typical continental breakfast eaten with other guests which was enjoyable.
Cons: Didn't like the toilet being on one side of our room, with no washbasin, and the shower room being on the other side. Presume this was unavoidable but it was slightly annoying. Also, there was a large cupboard hanging on the wall in the toilet which had a sharp corner and could have been a hazard in the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated.very clean and comfortable. Our hostess welcomed us and made us feel very at home.

Pros: perfect located in the lovely country side of Bordeaux (Cote de Bourg). Beautiful house and a very friendly host, respect and 'grand class'
Cons: nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom is not en-suite but we found this fine as our family occupied both rooms upstairs. The host was lovely and the continental breakfast was delicious! Added bonus was swimming pool at the rear of the property.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Elderly but beautiful house with somewhat tired gardens and a nice outdoor pool. Their vineyard is a few yards away and produces an excellent red wine. The room & bathroom on the ground floor was simply decorated but clean and comfortable and parking was a few feet away. The breakfast was one of the finest I've ever been served in France. Fruit trees were dropping delicious apples and figs on the floor - a shame to see it wasted so I picked up a couple for later. Our second stay at this property. A short walk through vineyards to a good view of the Gironde estuary. No evening meal but Bourg nearby had good restaurants.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Sheer delight. A beautiful quintessentially French maisonette d’maitre. Fine white linen, excellent breakfast and made to feel very very welcome. A taste of French living.
Cons: Nothing.

We all love this property will come again for sure.

Pros: Great location, relaxing and charming accommodation. Staff super nice and breakfast has been great. Really recommended if you want to relax and enjoy a weekend away from the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was during the harvest which was great to see. It made for a very in-depth property tour and winetasting. Our tour guide was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
7.0 Good
Cons: We been told that no one in the place except us but at late evening a couple came in and said that we are live here. So we felt very unsecured. We booked apartment with breakfast. Just before final booking I asked for a early breakfast and had a positive confirmation. Unfortunately we got two types of dry cakes and were able to make tea or coffee even without milk. I would expected to have a discount for unserved breakfast and unsecured statement.

Overview Reviews
Located in Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse, Le Domaine de Canesse is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of Gironde Estuary and Grotte de Pair-non-Pair. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming place for a short stay. Our room had s view onto the garden. The host was lovely and gave us a good restaurant recommendation, plus a present in arrival - a very good bottle of wine. A perfect stop on our drive to Spain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really comfy and beautiful. Our host was so friendly and also very understanding about our extremely late arrival (many places wouldn't have let us in that late). Extra points for great organic coffee!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location, original building with sympathetic ongoing renovations.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A rambling house with well appointed and very clean rooms. The bedroom (which overlooked a lovely large garden) was somewhat idiosyncratic in that it had a large, gilded (but at least to my wife and I - benign, even comforting) statue of the Buddah in one corner. The owner was very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. The property is in a very rural location but there is an attractive village with restaurants and a supermarket a few kilometres away.
Cons: Shower not working.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: No croisants room wad musty.
Cons: Todomot
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The host was so very nice, rooms are nicely decorated & comfortable big bathrooms. A true French experience. Breakfast was prepared by our host with a lovely table setting.
Cons: A bit of remolding going on but nothing we could overlook
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom were great. Patrice is still working on the property but overall it was very pleasant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm and generous host, lovely room and food. Could not ask for better. Highly recomended.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The care and attention that Patrice, the owner, is showing to the refurbishment of his property is second to none. The rooms are being done up to a very high spec, more as if he were doing the work for his own comfort than that of paying guests. This attention to detail was mirrored in the warmth and friendliness of the welcome I received. It's a good location for visiting the area, and I felt very comfortable in my short stay there. Shame I couldn't stay longer!
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: It was a great experience that I can see the vineyard on my own bed! A great bedroom, a great bethroom, the winary tour also great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The grounds are beautiful. A complimentary winery tour and tasting was spectacular and unforgettable! Big bathroom and best shower ever.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely night followed by a gorgeous breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely host ( she really cant do enough for you) and outstanding Breakfast. Handy location for local area, though a little difficult to find in the dark.
Cons: At 70 euros we thought this was over priced, having stayed at an apartment not that far away for considerably less the previous night. Our opinion is that there could be better deals to be had locally. We're with 'Jean from Senegal' ( see previous comment on this site) re the decor; it is 'odd' rather than stylish or even quirky. The bathroom set up is also rather unsettling, with a glass section ( albeit it not entirely clear, but not frosted) in the dividing wall with the bedroom, allowing anyone in the bedroom to see any toileting by a partner.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant and efficient hostess Tranquil garden Modern room, super clean, with a comfortable bed Comprehensive breakfast
Cons: Room was slightly cramped - fine for a night or two, perhaps less so for a longer stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room and shower. Great breakfast.
Cons: Had to drive to restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Estelle a fantastic hostess. location glorious, lovely premises. everything you could want in facilities (even a pool (pop-up) in garden not mentioned in spec. nothing too much trouble, she's really lovely. you might want a car, everyone else had one, but we were being transported by family so no problem for us (we knew in advance and used taxi when we preferred)
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, clean and functional with a warm welcome. Hosts have taken every care to provide all that guests require including air conditioning which was much appreciated during a heatwave. Large period home set in landscapes garden in the country. Perfect mix of being tended to and given privacy. No question I would stay there again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the friendliness on the hostess, the beautiful aspect of the building and easy proximity to Blaye and Bourg.

Eric & Sophie are amazing hosts and we met some wonderful people from Aix Provence and Holland .. such a wonderful way to meet others and enrich the experience... bed very comfy super clean and NOTHING was to much trouble.. We would give
Cons: Having to leave . Fabulous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and decor, large bathroom. Great pool. Warm welcome from very friendly hosts, very nice breakfast and evening meal. For fellow motorcyclists, don't worry about parking as gravel is contained in plastic grid and is perfectly stable.
Cons: Difficult to think of anything negative, just that the WiFi was very slow, but probably due to rural location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful service from the owners Sophie and Erik complete with fantastic French breakfasts and dinners. Sophie is an amazing home chef and made us a lovely dinner of sea bass, cheese souffle and mango mousse. Erik knows his wine and recommended a delightful pairing. The home is removed from the more congested touristic towns but still an easy drive to all of the different appelations in the Bordeaux wine region. A quick ferry ride puts you in the Medoc region or you can drive east to St Emilion or south with a quick visit to downtown Bordeaux. I hope to return!
Cons: It was all wonderful - I have nothing to suggest for improving the experience. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Sophie and Eric, the setting, the food and wine
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: The hosts were extremely helpful and kind.
Cons: Well, for two very oldies the stairs were quite daunting, but of course they cannot be changed as it’s a very old and amazing building.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly staff, very accommodating and provided good suggestions for wineries and places to eat. The breakfast was really good and set you up for a morning of wine tasting. The location was ideal to cover all aspects of the Medoc region. The bed was comfortable and the room was very spacious. We would not hesitate to stay there again during a future visit.
Cons: B/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: they felt us at home
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Médoc de Maxou was an ideal stop on a 12-day cycle tour of the Gironde. The location is perfect. It is conveniently located near the Lamarque-Blaye ferry terminal and is just a short walk from the Dôme de Lamarque. The property has been recently renovated and is beautiful inside. A spiral staircase leads from the large common sitting area on the lower level to the guest rooms on the upper level. The large window in our room opened over the garden at the back of the property. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was recently been redone in a modern style. The bed was comfortable. The excellent breakfast was served in the common room below. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Bonus for cyclists - the property provides a secure garage in which to store bicycles.
Cons: I did not dislike anything about this property. There does not seem to be much in the way of restaurants nearby (we went back to the port for dinner).
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Friendly hosts.
Cons: Spiral staircase to rooms difficult with heavy cases. Internet link for payment dodgy so had to pay cash.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in a quiet town just down the road from the ferry crossing. Friendly hosts, delicious breakfast, good advice from hosts on restaurants and vineyards to visit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, lovely breakfast, wonderful proprietors. So friendly & helpful and recommended and booked an amazing restaurant for us in Saint Julien about 10k away for our evening meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we arrived at around 8 pm we needed some dinner. Knowing that on a Monday most facilities would be closed we asked for assistance. Without hesitation the owners picked up their phone and called a place not far. Even before looking at our room we left to get dinner, and therefore checked in properly much later, but with a problem. The room was stylish yet functional, modern bathroom, and the double glazed windows helped insulating against the cold weather! The location was right in town, we could walk to chalets for wine tasting, just great!
Cons: Something that didn't trouble us but might be a hindrance for some: The stairs to the upper floor are very steep, also if you are wheel chair bound this property is not for you. So for us there was nothing negative to say.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent - right in middle of the village Amazing staff and so friendly Character property, lots of charm Lovely sitting area to have a glass of wine
Cons: One toilet / bathroom. Little bit noisy with floors and doors, but it is a old house with character. Minor minor points
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming structure, very representative of the style of the French province. Very good breakfast. Good value for money.
Cons: I found the bathroom a bit small and, above all, even if the room had a double bed and, therefore, is intended for a couple, I would have liked a real bathroom door, instead of a curtain, which guarantees more privacy even in a couple.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was excellent with superb service and very welcoming. The lack of own toilet is easy to forget when eveything else is perfect.
Cons: It is small and cosy but the walls are thin...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We chose the Villabordoh because it was on our cycle route and near to the ferry crossing across the Girond to Blaye. The accommodation was OK but sharing a toilet and showering facilities are a bit unusual nowadays. But the beds were comfy!! Breakfast was good and plentiful and the staff serving us were excellent.
Cons: Sharing a toilet and shower. We were lucky as we were the only folk upstairs so actually did not have to share, but, if all four upstairs rooms had been occupied that could have been a different story! Storage for our bikes was outside in the front garden, Some sort of shelter would have been better!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Room was very uncomfortable up a very steep flight of ladder like stairs. Brown sheets, uncomfortable bed, no door between toilet and bedroom only a curtain, not very clean. Breakfast was awful stale croissants not acceptable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is very comfortable and spacious. The design is very boutique style and countryside as I like The breakfast is beyond expectation and plentiful the Staff is very much welcoming and professional
Cons: The check-in time but it comes with the style of the property. However, I arrived late and the staff was very much accommodating. Very much appreciated

Cons: Up stairs carrying luggage. Not what we thought we had booked. Looked out on overgrown yard with cat which never stopped crying.
6.7 Good
Pros: The room was clean and well laid out, the strangest shaped pool I've seen but welcoming after a hot day's riding.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in this beautiful chalet for 2 nights while we visited Blaye. It was much more spacious than expected and very nicely decorated. There were some chairs on a terrace facing the vineyard and some next to the pool area at the back- both of which we made good use of. It is around 20-25 mins walk to the main area with bars etc. in season be sure to check out the live music and bar at the ferry port! Smashing. The breakfast was lovely. A mix of cheese, bread, crepes and fruits and coffee. We had a great stay and throughly enjoyed chilling out and spending time in this lovely chalet. All the hosts were extremely welcoming adding to our experience. Highly recommend. Thanks again to you all

Pros: House itself was stunning on outside & in. Rooms were huge, v tastefully decorated. Clean & v maintained. Also loved the fact that although b&b you had use of dining room & lounge, which was solely for use of the 3 b&b rooms. Also the hosts were fantastic, soo welcoming & friendly, helpful. I booked this as a Pitt stopp on route from Caen to Costa Del Sol & would love to return another time.
Cons: Only negative for me was that there are no walkable restaurants or Taxis...but saying that we were offered to get a takeaway pizza (which was delicious) and eat at the House, accompanied by a fab local wine, which we purchased from the Hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely atmosphere all around the house and the gardens, super large room, Sarah the owner was absolutely brilliant, really helpful, nice and friendly. We totally felt at home and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Pros: My wife, Bowdie the Spaniel and I had the pleasure of meeting Isabelle and staying for a night in September. We were made so welcome and despite it being harvest time on a busy working estate, we were treated to a tour of the cellar and were gifted some wine to share with our alfresco supper, which we enjoyed immensely as the sun went down. Isabelle allowed us to walk the vineyard with the dog at will, which was a lovely chance to unwind and absorb the atmosphere. We left filled with knowledge, relaxed....and with a few cases of some of the most delightful wine I have ever tasted
Cons: Nothing at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Isabelle was a really nice host, always available to help. She offered us the house wine as a welcome. They have a really good wine and an amazing wine cellar. We will sure come back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A nice continental breakfast. Fresh orange juice etc. But best of all we were able to sample and buy wine from the vineyard which has been an excellent purchase. Family run and very friendly, we will return.

5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The shower was superb and the living room was ok. However the sleeping area was awful. The ceiling was too low - not shown on any of your photographs. It was completely unsuitable for an older couple like ourselves especially as I am claustrophobic. The stairs were narrow and steep. Non of this was mentioned in your information and we spent an uncomfortable 3 night's there. We asked to move but was only given an alternative for 1 night so wasn't worth moving. Our clothes wouldn't fit into the wardrobe as it was so narrow. It certainly wasn't designed for comfort profit perhaps. We do think the blame lies with booking.com as the photographs as information were misleading. We will be putting a similar review on Trip adviser.
Cons: As above. Higher bedroom ceiling.Room to move in the bedroom. More accesible stairs and a bigger wardrobe. Perhaps the owner could have been friendlier and talked to us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing apartments with the jacuzzi. Very spacious rooms, nice quite place, good french breakfast.
Cons: Not all the staff speaks english, it’s a problem of all France hotels.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Local restaurant run by owners was excellent.
Cons: The sharing platter was very over priced. Breakfasts should have been included in the overall price.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property. The descriptions of the rooms were accurate. The pool area and grounds are sublime. A peaceful oasis.
7.1 Good
Pros: Swimming pool; the style inside and outside; the trees, the gardenfurniture. The breakfest. Their restaurant in town.
Cons: No minibar in every room (while it was 43 degrees)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was outstanding and very good value for money. The room was so unique and cosy, brilliant terrace area as well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nestled in the Bordeaux countryside 30 minutes from Bordeaux but with plenty of the true Bordeaux region surrounding you. Their restaurant is 5 minutes away on the edge of the estuary. Delicious food and environs. The pool was a welcome treat in the 40deg heat.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a wonderful place to stay - really beautiful!
6.3 Good
Pros: Bad start to our stay as the owners were not even there to welcome us! Waited outside for a while, then called the mobile number I had. We were given the code to the gate so we could get in, but it was another 40 minutes before anyone arrived. Very poor welcome. The room was fine - designer chic, but quite small and cramped.
Cons: See above. Also no restaurants anywhere near the property. We drove for 20 minutes to the place the owner recommended - the worst meal of our 3 week trip to France. So for us, an inconvenient location and rather arrogant owners who made us feels as if they were doing us a favour by allowing us to stay in their house, though the price they charge is high. We will not be back.

Pros: Location
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Visited Villa Simone last year too. Great little place with very friendly staff - Lara is amazing - always more than happy to help with information and suggestions to make your trip more memorable. Close to centre with quite a few bars and restaurants, few minutes walk to Citadel and there is a car ferry that you can catch to the other side of the bay. Very easy and missed out a big chunk of Bordeaux on our way to Arcachon and Biarittz.
Cons: Nothing, all good!
7.9 Good
Pros: Very nice and friendly welcome from Laura. She is the perfect host she gave us tips for restaurants and bars and I don’t know how one can make it better. They provided us a safe room for our bicycles. The room is big and clean and smells so so good. :-)
Cons: very used and old furnitures also the bathroom is quite old
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. we travel frequently around the world, and we are in despair of the lack of originality and care in this day and age. However this place has everything, character, fabulous staff, very clean.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, beautiful, characterful rooms. Very useful and well equipped kitchen.
Overview
Lovely large bright double room with king size bed and en-suite shower room, which sleeps two adults. With high ceilings and two large windows over looking the gardens. The room has a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The room is part of Vine House b&b and is perfectly located just a short drive from Bordeaux's tram system and the major motorways, set in the vineyards of this beautiful wine region. The house was once a wine producing farm but now has been transformed into a beautiful bed & breakfast. We have two other letting rooms, all with king size beds with private shower/bathrooms. Also there is an apartment with king bed, shower room, lounge, tv, kitchen, dining area, private courtyard with bbq for outside dining. There is a relaxed atmosphere, we like our guests to feel at home and enjoy the house, gardens & swimming pool. We also have two four bedroom gites for rental. Located in a small hamlet, surrounded by vines we are 35 mins drive from Merignac airport, St-Emilion and Bordeaux city center. The small town of Bourg 7mins drive and Blaye 10 mins have many restaurants and weekly markets but are very lucky to have a very nice restaurant 2km away open for lunch and dinner serving a set menu in true french home cooking style.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location in the heart of Margaux. Really friendly staff and a comfortable bed.
Cons: A little run down, but that just adds to the quaintness!
6.0 Good
Pros: The host was very kind. House is locaed in a nice french town. Good place to stay when planning wine route. Connection to the BOD airport was good. Free car park outside.
Cons: No glasses in the room which is bad when beeing in a house surrounded by wineyards. I think there is a mismatch between room and restaurant pricing and standard. Room is very basic and inexpensive comparing to other offers in the area but restaurant is good and rather expensive. Fixed meal in the restaurant is about 25 euro per person + wine starting from 10 euro. Dinner for a couple cost more than the room for a night which means some of guests can't afford to eat there. By the way, there is no affordable food places in town.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast and the staff during the breakfast.
Cons: The price of the room. It's not during high season.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly & helpful
Cons: The towels need replacing
5.0 Okay
Pros: We woke to see that the vendange (grape harvest) was going on in the vineyards around the château.
Cons: The room was dowdy (but functional). And the price was poor value for money.
