A very pleasant place to stay with most hospitable hosts. As an Englishman on his own, they were most accomadating.
We arrived after 19:30hrs and the proprietors were very accommodating with providing a later dinner for my wife and young children. The location is peaceful with a running river on your doorstep and is quite secluded. The eating area was dimly lit and the hotel had a musty smell. In need of a refurb I think! But to be fair, the room rate reflected the level of luxury and facilities.
Location by the river, very peaceful, helpful proprieter. Hotel dog, a black Labrador, was entertaining and adorable. Slightly musty smell in some parts of hotel.
Very easy to access Staff were very good The room was clean. Access to the Town of Issoire very very good
ease of booking and comfort/standard of rooms for amount paid. convenient stop over location
Reasonable size room Breakfast like a bun fight, insufficient staff and not made aware of what was available.also as with most hotels in the ones we looked at on your website coffe/tea facilities in rooms would have been nice.
very comfortable, no
Hotel receptionist was excellent, she was very friendly and helpfull. Hotel is well positioned with secure parking. No tea or coffee available in the room.
New, light, spacious and clean rooms. Friendly staff, excellent food/restaurant - everything you need - including free fast wifi, free, safe parking and near the motorway, None at all
Very comfortable clean bed
There was some confusion as I had booked a family room but was told I could not stay in the room with 3 children. I explained that I booked this and enquired before I travelled and it was ok. I also explained that I had a another booking in August 09. The receptionist cancelled this booking without really offering an alternative. Very abrupt
This is a very good hotel for the price range. The rooms are clean, a good size and the beds are comfortable. Its also within walking distance of places to eat. Liked everything
Good size rooms and comfortable bed
This was our first stay at Issoire and we found it with ease and, was received with a very pleasant young lady with a smile and, was very helpful when I had difficulty connecting to the internet which was free of charge. I found the cost of meals rather expensive
newmodern facilities, efficient & friendly staff & breakfasts
Quiet, good beds no
Easy to find . The room was comfortable and the shower and facilities where good. The food was good The hotel is in the middle of an industrial estate but no noise at night except for the alarm of one of the industial units which went off three times during the night.
The well -thought out layout of the room.It was not particularly big, but there was room for luggage, for toiletries in the bathroom and a decent sized bench/table top in the actual bedroom The concrete stairs for the upper floor made rather hard going if you were not in the first flush of youth!!
Good for an overnight halfway stopover travelling to the south of France or Spain and very close to A71 Autoroute. Rooms are compact and recently refurbished. Good shower / bathroom, free wi-fi and comfortable beds with little traffic noise from Autoroute nearby. Restuarant food is varied, but as usual in France not very good value compared to say a Beefeater near a Premier Inn in the UK. Though better value than an Ibis or Novotel nearby. Located on a small business park that's quiet after 18:00hrs. Most staff speak english and very friendly. Car park is a bit tight with limited spaces, watch out for damage by other drivers coming and going, my car was hit. Food in restuarant buffet area is left uncovered and flies on food are a problem.
IT was ckean, comfortable, quiet, good restaurant. everything you would want for an overnight stay on the way to somewhere - it's in the middle of a light industry area. Nothing in particular - the place is just one year old.
Near the autoroute We asked for a change of one room due to it having an unpleasant smell.
New look - much brighter and cleaner looking There was nowhere to put shampoo etc in the shower
Clean, comfortable. roomy. Good breakfast. Good value overall.
The cleanliness of the place and the very available and very nice staff. The breakfast was really good and the site easy to find.
Friendliness of my reception. Cleanness of the facilities. I did not have to look far to have something to eat after my long journey. My car was behind a closed fence I see as a plus.
Comfortable bed, hot water, good breakfast. Very helpful person on check in desk.
Price, Location, restaurant availability, safe parking
Nice guy at the reception. Good value for money.
Very good value for money, nice clean rooms, free internet, free parking, perfect choice for overnight during travel We had only problem but very unpleasant, during shower suddenly change temperature of water for very hot, happend more times, quite dangerous
Positioned close to motorway The towels in the room were dirty and looked like they had not been changed. There was also dirty water in the sink and the room in general appeared not to have been cleaned after the previous guests
Good location even though the area is built up. Restaurant next door was handy after a long trip. Good stopover location if travelling south.
Good stopover location, safe parking, easy access from the motorway The breakfast basic but OK fot the price (5,5 EUR), surroundings
Enthusiastic welcome. Room was good size, clean & comfortable. Effective air conditioning. Close to decent restaurants. Private parking. Good price. Breakfast was quite basic but adequate.
Free wi fi. Friendly staff. Easy and relaxed
As a triple room we had plenty of room and it was all very clean Apart from the prices at the bar nothing really
very comfortable room ,Staff very helpful and friendly
convenient for stop-over while travelling, with friendly staff and a cheerful breakfast room. We were grateful for an excellent recommendation for dinner as their own restaurant was closed. Quite a noisy street location, (though there is double glazing which helps if you don't mind sleeping without fresh air). The lift goes to half-landings instead of to your floor which is a bit inconvenient for carting luggage. We thought it rather expensive for what was on offer - compared with other hotels in France.
Easy to find, very good location with it being just off the main road, quiet, on the whole very pleasant indeed. Service in the restaraunt slow, but in all fairness to them, the receptionist did warn us that there was a large party in that night and that they would deal with them first, we just picked the wrong night, unfortunately it was our wedding anniversary.
For a stop over this is a convenient location to the autoroute and the room was clean. Breakfast ok, worth taking. Use of half landings for lift access makes heavy bag handling difficult - not for the disabled. Restaurant closed on Sunday (noted in booking confirmation) but few local options open made stop over a bit of a pain. The Buffallo Grill 1 mile away was ok though.
Very helpful and friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good location close to town centre and motorway and the icing on the cake was the sunny pool which was ideal way to cool down and relax after a long day's drive
The hotel was in the centre of Issoire and not far from the beautiful countryside around. The room was large and very quiet.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel is convenient because it's close to the interstate. The room did not have a shower, only a bathtub. I think for 3 stars there should be a shower. We stayed on the night that the hotel restaurant was closed. The staff recommended a local restaurant for dinner. We did not have a good experience there.
Very helpful and friendly staff booked us in at a local restaurant when the hotel one was closed. Very quiet rooms and quite spacious for 2 adults and 2 children.
The lovely large comfortable bed, the warm welcome and the helpful staff.
Nice building, lobby, parking available, very central location breakfast only very basic (but for the price...)
the environment, the staff and the originality of the hotel It would be nice if you could dine at the hotel (currently only breakfast)
We situated hotel in a friendly town. The suites are best value.
Very central.Room on !st floor corner was small but fine.Breakfast was not very varied, basically lots of breads but nicely served and freshly prepared. Corridor areas make it feel like a hostel. There was no bar area in the hotel and the downstairs lounge area was very big and in my opinion uninviting. I was very glad to be on the !st floor as there is no lift!
pleasant staff, good location for walking or skiing. the rooms are fairly basic but comfortable.
Le Grand Hotel is a great place to stay with loads of character and right in the centre of Mont Dore which is charming and very near the mountains. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and very accommodating. Would definitely like to stay there again!
The situation is good. It is a typical old fashion hotel that has been partially redone, they didn't redo the outside yet which makes the first look a mistrusting surprise. We had a "new" room to the garden, which made it quiet and cool, the installations are minimalistic however everything worked. It was clean.
Clean and comfortable. Helpful staff. On site parking. Central location Hairdryer did not work.
The owners were very helpful. Very good bed and breakfast with lots of restaurents nearby.
The staff is very friendly and efficient. I wasn't able when booking to reserve for a child as the third occupant (I believe because of booking.com's poorly designed website that doesn't allow to do so, unlike its competitors), and the staff helped out by upgrading me to a room with two beds without charge. Nicely furbished room. I confirm highway noise is not a problem.
Clean and comfortable for an overnight stay. Pity no snack or food available on arrival on Sat. eve - although I believe this was already mentioned - but I forgot! No, only as mentioned above no snacks available on Sat. eve.
Quiet room (is was to the back), very easy ac cess from the A75 miotorway (only 500 meters!). Only 5 minutes drive to Clermont Ferrand and 10 minute drive to the airport. Only 3 min drive to a recreation area with losts of restaurants (junction 1 of the A75) limited food choice for dinner (so we ate out all nights). A farmer burnt thinjks in his backyard (next to the hotel) for half of the nights. if the wind is north-East it blows the fmes into the rooms.
Nicely renovated hotel, good quality fittings and bathroom. Great breakfast. Not really close to any shops or restaraunts
A really good hotel, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast, conveniently located and friendly staff. There should be more hotels like this one.
A nice clean and modern hotel. Close enough to autoroute to be very convenient but not too close. All rooms have balconies , our room had excellent facilities and a pleasant view over the countryside. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We used the hotel as a one night stopover and would certainly go there again. The restaurant was good, but for some reason it is closed over the weekend. I've no idea why, but this would be a put-off if I needed a weekend stop.
Modern, clean and comfortable hotel, good restaurant and friendly staff. Near a motorway but roooms are very quiet with windows closed. Lovely views at the back of the hotel over the countryside. We only used it as a 1 night stop over so location near motorway suited us. N/A
Simpel, clean hotel which looked great and was easy to find. For just the night this is an excellent hotel close the main road to Clermont Ferrand with a lot of restaurants. Paying extra for breakfast is always a downside, so we just bought ours on the way for a third of what they charged.
Excellent facility - The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, but only one person was on duty and checking in and our was slow. The restaurant management was abrupt and rather rude
lovely setting. Balcony Decor needed updating. Broken light fitting in bathroom. Room cramped due to extra bed. TV lead had to go across the main entrance into the room.
The area was especially lovely and within reach of some lovely countryside and towns. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed at the end of the summer season and found the lounge and sitting areas tired and inhospitable.
Countryside views and location near village of Besse excellent. The restaurant food is excellent but limited to one of two fixed menu'S. More than three days would exhaust the choice. The reception time is limited to before 22:00. There is a bar and lounge but getting a drink when the reception is shut is impossible. Breakfast was limited to continental.
Warm friendly welcome. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner. Fantastic central location. Free skibus was a real bonus. Will definitely use this hotel again. We opted for a duplex room to sleep six, one bathroom was a bit restrictive particularly when we all came off the ski slopes together.
Good size comfortable bed. Peaceful surroundings.
Excellent location in the heart of the Auvergne area, in the cute town of St. Nectaire. Very nice facilities, including indoor and outdoor pool, and a wonderful garden. Not sure why this hotel advertises for access to wireless internet, and then wants you to pay ridiculous amounts to actually provide that service. The afternoon/evening reception staff needs coaching on his attitude that transpires condenscendence rather than hospitality. The morning staff is very friendly indeed, but requires coaching on technical functions like payment by credit card and ....the wireless service.
Location is good, the town pleasant but we were out of season. The pool is too small to swim in, it has a jacuzzi in it but it's not warm enough to be relaxing, the building and grounds could do with some attention. Overall the stay was disappointing
good breakfast.....restruant staff..........relaxing Reception staff not advisory.....corporate
Clean, Modern, Excellent Food A Hotel of this size should have laundry facilities
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent Rooms were a bit cold, both temperature wise and comfort wise. Thought the price was a bit high for a 3 star.
The hotel was close to the centre of town without being right in it. We had a very pleasant view of the mountains and waterfall. The hotel was old and shabby and over priced. It did not reflect the pictures on the website. During a very warm time of year, 30 degrees and no airconditioning or cooling provided it was innappropriate to be given a thick winter duvet and no top sheet on our bed. Staff were not friendly or helpful. We seemed to be only two of four people staying at the hotel.
We liked the environment and the hotel as the castle in the surroundings no hot water and no reduction on the considerable cost of one night stay
large rooms with extra rooms for sitting with all the extras of home and lovely hosts
beautiful chateau in a tiny old village, very nice owners, devoted to restoring the castle, complimentary visit of the chateau with a stay, authentic atmosphere. The place is truly charming! We started considering the purchase of a chateau...maybe...some day :) flies...a couple of them in the bathroom...
