Located in Alma, Aux Pignons Gite is a 1-minute drive from Saguenay River and 6 minutes from L'Odyssee des Batisseurs. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Louiselle is a wonderfully warm host and she plays a mean clarinet. The back garden and dock area are beautiful. Guests were welcomed to all these areas. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and reflecting different cultures. The common area allowed us to meet other interesting guests at night making breakfast conversation very easy.
Pros: Our hosts !!! And the breakfast :-)
Pros: Everything the breakfast was awesome
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home. Even allowed us to wash our clothes in their washing machine. Breakfast was brilliant and very enjoyable; made by people who really enjoy food: fresh cut fruit, eggs were from own hens and all ingredients sourced locally.
Cons: Only negative was the shared bathrooms, but one of the bathrooms had a hot tub (my wife enjoyed) which certainly made up for it.
Pros: Louiselle and her husband are so kind that I cannot describe. Their home is amazing and you can feel the peace and the love once you get there. The view and the proximity to the lake (charming)
Pros: The house is gigantic, more than fully equipped, and all bedrooms are amazing. We also had a view on the lake. The Gite aux Pignons is a beautiful location which also has access to the lake and a huge garden to relax. I can't recommend it enough... you'll also have a different breakfast every day and the nicest hosts you can find in Quebec!! :)
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
Pros: exceptional hosts , wonderful scenic location on a river, breakfasts were way more than expected, well prepared and wonderful .The hosts, Loiselle and Landis , were very helpful with suggestions on what to visit within the region. I would return here in a heartbeat.
Cons: not very much
Pros: The proprietors were very kind and generous to us. They transported 4 of us and our bicycles to a better starting place for our trip and they took us into town to get dinner.
Pros: Beautiful spot overlooking the lake with expansive lawns and a small above ground pool. Comfortable outside sitting area and a small but cozy communal area for guests upstairs. Super warm and helpful hosts. They were happy to let us use their oven to reheat food for dinner and they have a separate refrigerator for guests. Room was quiet, clean and cozy. Breakfasts were a gourmet treat, prepared on the spot and served at a communal table. Excellent coffee!
Cons: All four rooms were full when we were there which put some pressure on the shared bathroom, especially in the morning. A minor quibble since everything else was excellent.
Offering a barbecue and sun terrace, Auberge de Jeunesse du Lac St-Jean is situated in Saint-Gédéon, on the shores of Lac St-Jean. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property. Guests may also ask the staff for tourism information. The hostel also offers bike hire. The Véloroute des Bleuets is in front of the hostel, and guests have access to a bicycle storage space and a repair kit.
Pros: Lovely place near the lake and close to other attractions. The hosts were friendly and available when neede---they even mailed me my lost drivers license. And free bikes too! Well-recommended by us.
Cons: Building is on the main road and can be a little noisy at times.
Pros: Everything. Very friendly people.. great food.... great location. Thank you
Pros: This is a "luxury"- hostel, in a nice house. Very nicely set up and friendly common rooms. Everything there to cook dinner or breakfast. Close to the lac saint Jean, with a beach, but apparently one has to cross campsite (and pay). Good restaurants around.
Pros: Seems newly renovated, Super clean.

Located in Chambord, Village historique de Val-Jalbert is in the historical district, within a 15-minute drive of Historic Village of Val-Jalbert and Ursulines Garden. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The room is designed in a clean, rustic style, but with modern amenities. Very pretty, comfortable and clean. Lovely, quiet setting, on the well maintained grounds. Dinner in the old mill was very nice. The local specialties were tasty. Also, the panoramic film about the history of the town was excellent.
Cons: Surprisingly, breakfast was not great. The food was disappointing and the coffee was poor.
Pros: Very nice staff. Super good dinner. Very well organized.
Cons: Noise from bathroom not cut by the kind of sliding door. Small breakfast room
Pros: We stayed at the old magasin général and were surprised by how lovely and well appointed the rooms were. The domain itself is I te resting and well taken care of
Pros: Val-Jalbert was the highlight of our Lac Saint-Jean/Saguenay region trip. Along with your stay, you get access to the historic town as well as dinner and breakfast. The food was great and the amenities top notch. We loved our room on top of the General Store; they thought of everything from umbrellas to flashlights. They also put a lot of time and effort in restoring what they could and in recreating how life would have been like back in 1900s-1920s Quebec. We highly recommend visiting and staying in Val-Jalbert, the experience greatly surpassed our expectations!
Pros: The view from the top of the mountain. The room was well appointed. Lovely bathroom
Cons: Prices in the gift shop and concession grossly inflated.
A stay at La Maison du matelot places you in the heart of Alma, steps from Saguenay River and a 2-minute drive from Alma College. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The whole experience was very satisfactory and the location exceeded our expectations.
Cons: N/ANo complaints
Pros: Breakfast was amazing!
Pros: Nice breakfast from friendly lady. Nice setting on inlet.
Cons: Check-in desk a little hard to find...across the street from the rooms. Doors stuck and squeaked (they need a carpenter). 2nd floor stairs were steep and unsafe with no outside railing. Wifi router was across the street in the office so reception in the room didn't work...had to go sit on the curb outside the office to get reception. Mattress was too hard.
Pros: When there was no room available in the main building we were assigned a spacious two-floor condo attached to and behind the registration office, which was very well equipped and comfortable - excellent value for the few dollars extra that we paid for it. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and capable.
Cons: There was nothing that we did not like about our stay - and we hope to stay there again next year.
Pros: Everything was great ! I usually stay in a Marriot ! So didn’t miss the Marriot
Cons: The only thing maybe would be a suggestion Have a tv in each room That’s it
Pros: Wifi was exremely slow and nearly unexistent
Cons: Friendly and good breakfast
Pros: B&B located in an independent house, giving access to the complete house and a deck overlooking the lake. A great breakfast was prepared in the morning. Rooms were well equipped but quite small.
Pros: Best place in Alma, though relatively unknown.
Cons: Bathroom sink in the bedroom.
Pros: Very friendly staff at breakfast. Terrace overlooking water. Good facilities for relaxing in the sitting room.
Cons: Bedrooms are much too small.
Pros: Excellent location adjacent to river, kitchen facilities were a plus. Comfortable bed and bedding.
Cons: Wooden floors and creaky floorboards. Were awoken at 6.30 by lady arriving to prepare breakfasts which was immediately outside our bedroom door, and by people moving around in room above and using the stairs. Struggled to get a comfortable overnight room temperature.

Pros: Friendmy, good atmosphere
Pros: Eccentric place, very comfy and cozy! The rooms are amazing. I recommend the regular view, which is basically the lake view.
Pros: Amazing place to stay! Very well organized and taken care of. Collective kitchen and homy ambience. Very pleasant.
Pros: The unusual building - an ex monastery. Quirky, friendly and informal.
Cons: It was maybe a little too informal for us - no-one there to greet us on arrival; breakfast a little haphazard. The owner's extended family were visiting at the same time & we felt very much like uninvited guests.

Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Restaurant in house, good food.

Pros: Beds were great and it was easy to park
Cons: They need to change their pillows. Horrible pillows with no neck support. If you are a side sleeper, good luck.
Pros: Cleanness, Gym, Pool and Bathroom.
Cons: 1- Room service was only cleaning the bathroom and not the room. 2- Statement on booking.com says add $10 for breakfast and the cheapest breakfast I got from Pacini restaurant was for 20 CAD
Pros: The staff were very kind and helpful. The restaurant food was great! We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Our waitresses were great!!
Pros: We speak English plus just a tiny bit of French and the staff made every effort to help us in English or to work with us using French to communicate our needs. Very friendly and helpful! The Pancini Restaurant had great food and wait staff.

There is a shared kitchen, hairdresser's, and gift shop at the property. Free use of bicycles is available at this property and the area is popular for golfing. There is also an array of bars and restaurants within 50 metres.
Pros: Calm, clean, the owner is very nice. Great microbrewerie next door with an amazing waitress.
Pros: Nothing enjoyable comes to mind about the room, aside from its location right next to the Brasserie du Lac.
Cons: Not a great experience for us staying at l'Unik... cleanliness was highly questionnable as there was a rotten potato bag in the cupboard. The smell was very bad, no air circulation since the ''apartment'' and all other rooms seem to be in the basement. There was no doors to the bathroom (??), the room waslocated literally behind the reception so a lot of light got in from the corridor, very noisy refrigerator, no coffee for the machine in the room, no dish towels although it is requested that clients clean their dishes... We decided to leave after one night and had to argue with the owner about not paying full price. In spite of all elements described above, she still found reasonable to charge us 112$...
Cons: The walls are a little thin, but for the money it is a good buy
Pros: It was exactly what I was looking for. Clean and a place to sleep
Pros: well organized, even without staff on place

Pros: Good location, quiet part of town. There are a couple of pubs and shops nearby.
Cons: Smell javex or something . nobody at reception after 11:00

Pros: View from the room! Very friendly host.
Pros: The view
Cons: There’s no AC so you have to keep the windows open during hot night but people talked outside until very late in night. The pillows are not confortable so are the beds.
Pros: There was a bed.
Cons: We booked a room at this place mainly because of the breakfast and the late guest policy (we were supposed to arrive at 21.30). We were there at the designated time (21.30) and there was no-one in the reception and an envelope in the door. When we woke up the next morning to go to the cafeteria we saw it was closed and light off. We went to the reception and the guy told us that since it was to early in the season they were not providing breakfast so he charge us 10CAD less than the room price. So, at the end we spent over 100CAD to sleep in the middle of nowhere. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING!
Pros: View on the lake
Pros: Beatufull view to the Lake!
Cons: It was quite noisy from the pasding cars and truks! Alsdo we ran out of hot water. My daughter had to take the cold shower! Two star moter priced at 180$ with no hot water?

Pros: Loved the location, the view of the hotel is great! Employees were very nice to us too
Cons: The ambiance music on the restaurant can be tiring, maybe change that instrumental monotonous music for something else. I know it's a matter of preference, but if you stay 1 hour at the restaurant you want to run away. Other than that, all good.
Pros: The location and room was airy, lots of natural light and amazing view.
Cons: The lady at the front desk told me that i should have booked directly with them in order to obtain the breakfast included and one hour of kayak. I paid the same price for my stay but these were not included. She did not want to compensate for this. Otherwise great place.
Pros: The view was amazing. The room was clean and beautiful and the bed comfortable.
Cons: The food was excellent, but restaurant's daily menu very limited. Adding 1 or 2 vegetables dishes or salads options could be great.
Pros: The view from our balcony was amazing!!!! And dinner was perfect!!!
Cons: Everything was fine
Pros: Staff friendly.
Cons: Part of the property we stayed in was a but “tired”.
Pros: Chef and waitress morning and evening (Caroline) gave us exceptional service.
Cons: For our purposes games room and a pub would have been nice.
Pros: the meals at the restaurant were tasty and well presented.
Cons: The access to the Auberge should be marked better from the town Saint Gedeon.
Pros: Being close to the lake
Cons: Large construction going on all summer (s.foto, received 10% compensation), 2of 3 Nights were full with party groups (Wedding with loud music well after 3 am; response of staff: we chose the wrong hotel since it is known as wedding hotel)
Pros: Great location and there is lots to do.
Cons: Construction started early and end late on the dates that we stayed. We were given a warning at check in. But never an apology. 7:00 am wasn’t a wake up time that we were hoping for on our holiday.

With a stay at Motel aux Ecluses in Alma, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Saguenay River and Alma College. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: This was a very cheap hotel located above a gas station. I expected it to be a place where I could sleep and not much more - I was not disappointed. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the room which was an unexpected perk for this type of place.
Cons: There were a lot of dead flies in the bedroom near the window and in the hallways under the lights. The water from the faucet had an off flavor.
Pros: The weekend staff member on duty was excellent. He was friendly and helpful. This business is on top of a gas station and that is its primary business. But he still made time to try to help me.
Cons: I was there for three days. On the second day I was shocked that there was no visit from housekeeping. It took some work to get them to deliver me fresh towels. On the third day, still no housekeeping. There never was an attempt to see if ai needed toilet paper, towels, toiletries or anything else. This was a 4 day/three night stay. Daily housekeeping is written in the description.
Pros: Very large, clean room. Quiet. Good value for the money.
Cons: The room was stinky and they didn't do anything except a green tree
Pros: nice place....all ok and clean, i would stay again

Pros: it was well centered in the city and close by to the sites we wanted to see, it was what I expected for the price, the storage space for luggage and other stuff was adequate, the view at the terrace.
Cons: the carpet looked uncleaned and I find carpets have alot of bacteria and prefer a place that has no carpets, no choice for breakfast as the only thing was 1 egg and 1 meat with a few potatoes, no clock/alarm clock.
Pros: Breakfast was good, staff was friendly.
Cons: Room was very small, there was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom dispenser, the room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke, and the restaurant was closed on a Wednesday night.
Cons: the room was terrible, a lot of noise, dirty, disorganized
Pros: Location, big rooms
Pros: The room was really clean.
Cons: The WiFi connection was not good, very poor reception.
Cons: Parties going on at the restaurant, too noisy and (not the hotels fault) they threw their shot glasses into the parking lot. 2 big potholes in the sloped driveway that leads to the rooms. You cannot see them until you are already in them. Very bad for your car.
Cons: On arrival reception had no trace of our reservation with booking;com!
Cons: Needs an upgrade. Dark and grimy felt dirty.
Pros: The location
Cons: Lack of parking during an event in the bar
