Our room was a decent size and we could walk out of our patio doors onto grass at the top of a cliff overlooking the sea (however the tide was out til approx 4pm most days). We were right next to the pool and the staff were very friendly. Very nice beach. We did take a trip to St Martin which is approx half hour drive away and that was beautiful, lots of little bars and restaurants overlooking the marina, definately worth a trip. The location of the hotel spoilt our stay. There wasn't much around. Approx 30 to 40 minutes to the sea front where you would find restaurants, no stand alone bars, just restaurants. It was extremely windy when we went (August 2010) but that may have just been a one-off but overall the hotel was nice and clean and spacious.
excellent location - very clean - excellent staff - relaxing and comfortable hotel.
We thought the view from the room was magnificent. The meals were reasonably priced and good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful. The way the sun shone on the faces of the diners in the evening in the restaurant was a bit unpleasant - might have been nice to have some shades.
Family room for up to 5 people - good value for money. Very friendly/helpful staff on reception Family room would be a little small for longer stays
staff at the reception are fantastic.. they speak english well to communicate with us. where other hotels we had to try real hard to communicate in french and they didnt even try their english. the staff at the restaurant was pooring, we waited for 40mins and still didnt get no service.. it wasnt busy at all for them.. only 25% tables were taken. they really let the quality of the hotel right down. food wasnt too brillant either.. so we eat out on the next night instead. The branch in Brest airport is better by far in comparision to this one..
the peacefulness the price per night is excessive for room only accomadation
Very pleasant staff and good location if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the centre of the town
Good to have tea and coffee facilities ~ very welcome. Sadly you couldn't take us last night and we had to stay at the Ibis instead ~ not nearly as good and we won't stay there again ~ at least, not if you can accommodate us!
Ocean view was great. Breakfast was pretty good. Bit over-priced. Beach 10 min walk away. Hotel was a little bit run-down. Could be a lot nicer.
Comfortable bed. Clean room. Access to cliff path. Polite manager. Ample parking. Pleasant lawns. Caged swimming pool. Small, hard pillow. Poor breakfast service.Found on Isle de Re web site and annoyed not on Isle de Re as this was why we chose hotel.. Advertised cost of room 100 euros but charged 110. Advertised as room with country view but actual view was big tree and car park. Some guest reviews accurate for some of our experiences.
It's Ibis, so you know what to expect: clean rooms, small but clean bathroom with shower and bathtub, no extras but the basics are just fine. The restaurant at the hotel itself offered quite mediocre and even poor dishes at medium cost. The staff were nice but I doubted their competence when it came to serving food. When I mentioned part of my dish was clearly overcooked, they just smiled and walked away.
We liked the position, the views and there was plenty of parking space. The buffet for entrees - the spoon handles had fallen into the food.
Price of a bottle of water.. 4.40! 18cent in the supermarket!
People were helpful, room was very nice and newly redecorated very tastefully.
The uncomplicated way the check-in and check-out took place
Friendly helpful Staff. Convenient to Beach. Room not soundproof. Noise could be disturbing at times
Closeness to beach No car park
no restuarant open at weekends
staff excellant very helpful.Location. Restaurant Food very good, Room decor past sell-by date, small,. outdated fittings
the closeness to the beach
Excellent location and friendly staff in a lovely town.
location Breakfast was very poor
old mid 19th century house, recently refurbished, very good breakfast the restaurant offers a fixed menu if prior reservation is made. no other places to eat in the village
Lovely setting. Good welcome. Menu presented to us in English which is always helpful and food was good. Nothing really to see or do in village itself.
A nicely appointed room, windows that opened wide, lovely large comfortable bed, high quality all-cotton bedlinen, and a superb shower; all very clean and very quiet; free wifi an excellent addition; hotel has off-street parking and the location is ideal for anyone wanting to explore La Rochelle, Saintes, Cognac, or the surrounding region. The food was good, but the set dinner menu at the hotel restaurant was expensive for the limited options it offered; the town has a good bakery for anyone wanting an alternative to the hotel's breakfast, but is without alternate restaurant facilities; that said, there are numerous restaurants in St-Jean-d'Angely, only a few miles away.
Quite typical french hotel in nice surroundings ,Good food at reasonable prices No lift to first floor could be difficult for people with large luggage but proprieter would carry cases if desired.
An attractive rural hotel close to a small town with a fine walk along the river The food in the restaurant was a disappointment
We had a wonderful stay, very nice room, affordable priceshelpfull staff and a good restaurant
Spotlessly clean, well appointed, individual and extremely comfortable and welcoming I did not dislike anything. An excellent little hotel.
The welcome was as warm as the hotel, which in January was very important. We loved this hotel. Nothing.
Ease of location, informality, excellent food, peaceful setting, and genuine welcome extended by everyone we met.
We liked the hotel location overlooking beautiful grounds. The hotel has a good, but limited and repetitive menu. Also, we found it difficult to carry cases passed a door at the top of the stairs, which opens over the stairs instead of the landing.
Efficient check in/out, friendly staff
We stayed in eight Campaniles...This was our first Campanile we were so please with our choice the bedroom/bed was spotless floors were clean and the air conditioner worked without stale air blowing in our face at night the food in the restaurant was excellent this Campanile spoiled us as we did not have the same quality with others throughout our stay in France. We were very disappointed in the bathroom it was not up to the quality of the rest of the Room/Hotel it had huge holes in the wall around the shower and mold around the tub... The sink, and toilet were spotless.
Clean, good bathroom and bedroom space. Staff good. Tea/coffee facilities appreciated. Breakfast not good value for money as limited selection - usually wider range in these hotels. We paid Euros 5 for similar breakfast at another hotel on the same trip.
Quality/price ratio Bed was pretty soggy - new mattresses needed?
We arrived late and I was tired having driven for the first time in France. Although the restaurant was about to close, we were able to eat and I was so grateful for that.
I would´t recomend it: too much money for what you get. Location on a suburb spot, near warehouses and industries.
Food was good, staff were helpful. Black mold in corner of bedrooms, rooms damp and very basic. General condition of buildings was poor.
Ok for an overnight stay but not suitable for longer holiday in my opinion
Excellent for an overnight stay None
Very friendly staff, speaking english very well. You can have a good meal (menu) in the restaurant for a very fair price!
Just a place to sleep one night during travel.
The Visit was not a holiday as I was visiting my seriously ill father in hospital
Good breakfast and helpful staff. Good access to nearby restaurants Location not suitable for travellers without car.
The setting of the hotel is nice, situated on a lovely lake. I felt that this hotel was not good value for money, the food was very poor and the room was also not great. Our bill for room and dinner for one night was 250 Euro, we stayed in a 5 star Chateau during our stay for the same price!!!!! Very over priced
well situated downtown and quiet, friendly atmosphere, comfort is modest but sufficient for weekend trip. doors to corridor were not tight allowing people passing by to be heard
Spacious clean room, a pleasant surprise at the end of a dull corridor. Adequate breakfast. Great location. Friendley staff. Would recommend to anyone passing through Rochefort. Don't be put off by the looks from outside. -
Staff were friendly, room was ok The biggest put off was the entrance way and the dreadful green carpet, when we got to the room it was actually ok. Breakfast room was nice and breakfast was great, just the hallway tainted the stay, good location though, quiet but close to centre, staff were very helpful.
Central location very clean and tidy
People very nice Need internet access
central position, free parking, good breakfasts. No
Old fashioned hotel needing upgraded, very central to town, should include breakfast in price. Price of breakfast not included
The staff was very friendlly and helpful.
friendly nature of people, energy conservation
Clean, friendly hotel. The noise at night which is not the fault of the hotel but it was bad.
Quiet in a good location. The room was large and comfortable, if a little dated in terms of decoration. The air conditioning was effective and quiet. We found the welcome a little lacking in warmth
The location, the grounds and the swimming pool area. The rooms were very corporate and so were a disappointment compared to the grandeur of the building overall
The hotel was well situated in the middle of town, staff were extremely friendly and hotel well kept. The hotel was fine, Rochefort on the other hand we found very expensive and quiet, but we we're only passing through on our way to Spain so it was ideal
The staff went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. It had all the comforts of a large, chain hotel (full bar, breakfast buffet, gifts/postcards available at reception) but with the personal service of a small, family owned hotel.
Delightful small hotel in a gorgeous location (historic town of Rochefort). The generous buffet breakfast featuring home-made preserves and yoghurt was an excellent start to the day.
Perfect value fro little money. A pearl amongst the many hotels. The staff is friendly and breakfast better than in most 4star hotels. Room super clean also the bathroom.
Good location, nice hotel and nice staff Be ware of the stairs.
Comfortable room, ask for the first floor front if you want a balcony, clean and good size. bathroom a good size and clean. Ideal for a short stay. We did not eat in the hotel but the restaurant menu looked very nice. Short walk into the lovely town of Rochefort. Rooms at the front are facing a road so a little noisy. Rooms at the back face a back lane.
There is no free WIFI
For the price a very good hotel, I cannot fault the hotel in any way, good clean & friendly hotel. No, all positive.
It was very convenient and easy to find and it was good we could have a family room for our 2 children.
The friendly welcome, courteous staff. Ideal position for purpose of visit The weather was very hot during our visit. Air conditioning would have been very welcome.
The hotel stay was pleasant. The breakfast was reasonable.Only 5 mins from centre of town. We'd stay there again -Irish family with 3 Kids -
location and design no air con - it was hot 90+ degrees. And very noisy from kitchen ventilation shaft next to our room
Excellent evening menu with interesting selection of dishes. Shower over the bath with shower head that would not stay put and showered most of the bathroom.
Near to town...I was visiting friends in Echillais and Tonnay Charente and did not want to rent a car on the days they could not spend time with me. I was able to walk to the Corderie, L'Hermione, Atelier Begonia,Musee de Pierre Loti, to lunch in town etc. Dinner at the Hotel one night was good, buffet breakfast good as well. Service in the restaurant was excellent. More soundproofing so that my phone calls did not bother others. My family was in a different time zone and to speak with them I had to call later in the evening. Thicker towels and updated bedding would be nice but I was comfortable without extra luxuries. Also because I did not want to travel with a laptop, a small area with a couple of computers for guests to use would be helpful. I had to walk to the Cybercafe, not always convenient in terms of hours it was open.
Nearness to La Rochelle and the Ile de Re We thought it a little tired and bland. Could do with redecoration. Also our hotel room smelled strongly of cigarettes. Not very pleasant.
