indoor swimming pool
What a wonderful hotel. One of the best we stayed in on our tour. The proprietor could not have been more helpful and we had a lovely room near the pool which was warm and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and not overpriced for the quality.
The proprietors were totally charming and very helpful. We were given an upgrade on our room as we were staying four nights. Breakfasts were in a beautiful conservatory and were delicious. The rooms opened out onto a courtyard which trapped the sun, and the design of the gardens and the surroundings was artistic. Swallows and sand martins, and the church bells were the only music to be heard. A beautifully quiet and restful hotel, with a splendid restaurant next door, run by another branch of the family. Due to the weakness of the pound when we went, it turned out to be a lot more expensive than we had planned, as meals were £20 a head minimum and breakfasts at £8 seemed a bit steep.
friendly staff, nice pool and garden, quiet location, good restaurant
food dog in restaurant. If staff/you touch dog then table/food !
The swimming pool was a bonus. We stayed here because of the reputation of the restaurant and we were not disappointed. Best oysters we have ever tasted at a very reasonable price. Owners very pleasant. Our room outside was in need of a complete make over. Odd bedside lamps, faded pictures on the wall, curtain hook off the wall, rusty towel rail. We felt 74 euros was over priced for a double room of this standard.
The manager made us feel welcome from the moment we arrive, helped considerably by his great grasp of English (yes, I am one of those Brits who does not have a great grasp of French!). We ate in the restaurant a couple of nights but fended for ourselves for breakfast. This was not difficult as our room had a fridge for fresh juice and pastries which can be bought locally. The restaurant was very pleasant and the lady that ran it was again, very helpfull (ie. Had good level of spoken english!!). Our kids loved the pool and the resident cat and dog. All in all, we were very happy with our choice.
This place is a little gem of a find for a family holiday. Well located for beaches and exploring the area, but not prime location,so very reasonably priced. Welcoming hosts, where nothing is too much trouble. Easy access chalet style accomodation with a superb, well priced restaurant on site.
it was clean, economical nice location convenient en route stop.
Excellent welcome from all staff. Room was great. Restaurant was outstanding. Pool was brilliant.
The owners couple of the hotel is very friendly. The hotel furthermore is simple, staircase to all the rooms, (was there an elevator?) and very basic and quiet old fashioned rooms. The sandy beach is 200 meters walking. Just in front of the hotel is a public parking area, free of charge. The French style breakfast was friendly managed by the owners couple. The connecting rooms were simple. In one room (with twin beds) was a sink and in the other room (with double bed) was the bathroom with toilet. So the older kids had to pass the parents room always. It could be better when the beds are changed to the other room! The door between the connecting rooms could not be locked! So there is a lack of privacy. The toilet made a lot of noise ... poor neighbours!
This is a pleasant 2 star hotel right in the heart of Saint Jean de Monts. We were greeted by the owner/manager whose English is far better than my French. The hotel is 5 minutes from the superb beach and is one block away from the main shopping street. Car parking is just outside the hotel. Breakfast is plain and simple but fresh and well presented. Just one minor point - the automatic light switch might have the timer extended by about 30 seconds in order to reach the second floor from the ground floor.
Convenient location, helpful owner. W-Fi available. Good value family rooms, linked. Public parking sometimes difficult to find space, breakfast times could start earlier than 8.30. Some noise at night, but it is a town centre location.
Friendly staff Expensive, poor breakfast
Absolutely nothing, except perhaps the room was clean We can only give the proprietor the benefit of the doubt and think we were given a room not normally occupied by guests especially as the room did not appear to have a telephone. It was the smallest most depressing room we had ever stayed in and although it did have a wardrobe this remained locked during our stay. We could, however, see through a gap in the door that there was neither a hanging rail or hangers, so we did not bother to unpack. In the bathroom the shower head would not stay attached to its fixture so had to be held by hand. We thought the hotel was very tired and in need of some major refurbishment.
Clean hotel, close to the beach Small bathroom, not too clean.
The location is excellent and the staff was helpful. Great for the money we spent. The room was a bit dark and felt a bit musty, but then again, we weren't facing the street which might have made a difference.
The hotel is very central. The owner speaks good english and was very helpful. Parking was a bit of a problem. We ad to drive around for quite a while to find a space.
There was no indication the hotel was under renovation, which was surprising to see upon arrival and no mention of it at all. There was no advance mention of the renovation going on.
It was located in the town within walking distance of the waterfront, shops and restaurants The hotel was simply awful. Room was grubby and over the road so was very noisy. we booked for two nights but left after one.
Quiet, clean Bland, no flair
Good swimming pool and childrens play area. Rooms a bit run down and in need of modernising.
rooms poor, very small and basic.
Hassle-free, relatively quite area. Cleaning ladies were friendly and understanding...family room for four including two teenage boy's means late rising and slow getting out of their way to clean. The room was quite cramped so probably more suitable for families with young children. Perhaps this is an area Hotels could provide more detail about.
the hotel was centrally positioned and the staff were superb perfectly satisfied on all counts.
Not much. Room smelt, was very cold, bathroom was revolting with very poor lighting and not that clean either. Towels were threadbare.
The swimming pool was great. The kids loved it.
excellent locatin close to harbour area. friendly staff and when we had a problem with the sheets being dirty on our bed, the staff arranged clean bed linen straight away no complaints
The staff were very helpful and accommodating The room had quite an odour of stale urine and dried urine was on the toilet floor. Also the music played during breakfast was far too loud and inappropriate, although the staff, when asked if it could be turned off, did reduce the volume.
The location is ideal for access to the forest and the adventures therein; plus restaraunt and other facilities of the town and the golf course. No problem parking. No a proper shower and no BBC World or CNN on the TV.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel because of the position, near golf course and beach, not too near St J de M because in August the town is packed. no
Very convenient for our short golfing break.Good value at Booking prices for single occupancy of our very comfortable rooms. We have been before and will hope to go again The menu in the restaurant was limited and more geared to curistes than golfers. However, I can appreciate that the majority of guests at this period are curistes
The staff knew the answers to all our questions and were friendly and helpful.
The staff were extremely helpful, the room spotless and it was in an excellent position on the island. Also ample free parking. Excellent value for money. The only negative was a very small double bed (which however seems pretty standard in France) and the sliding doors on the wardrobe that kept sliding off !!!
Pleasant, relaxed, spotlessly clean simple hotel with good breakfast available. Very convenient for the town, which has a range of good eating places. Beaches and other villages a short drive or bike ride away.
Good position near the town, lovely room, good breakfast and friendly english speaking staff No
clean, comfortable room and excellent accommodation for our toddler. Staff all very pleasant and welcoming.
Lovely room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, bicycle storage provided. Everything was perfect.
We were offered a free upgrade to a room with a bath and garden view.
The location was very good. It has a large off road car park at the rear of the Hotel. Essential, even given the generous parking offered in and around the busy town of Noirmoutier. Park the car and a five minute walk takes you to the town centre for the many good restaurants and bars available. The rooms were spotlessly clean and maintained and the staff excellent.
Close to the town. On site parking. Exceptionally clean. Good value for money. Superior room lived up to its name. Very good breakfast.
Sea view from rooms cycle hire couldn't get a coffee or drink at 13.00
We loved the peaceful atmosphere and the wonderful outlook. A most pleasant and relaxing experience with excellent food and service.
Location, exc food, nice layout of hotel No facilities in rooms for drinks, occasional bad smell from seashore- to do with oyster cultivation?-staff not very forthcoming
Location for town and beach very good. Rooms very clean.
Well situated, central yet quiet. Bedrooms of good size, clean and comfortable, though fairly basic. Dinner menus offer good choice and value; quality of food, especially seafood, excellent. Reception and check-out efficient, staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We would certainly stay here again.
good facilities and restaurant
Comfortable, warm, friendly, easy access to village, quiet, good restaurant......... Nothing
Fantastic restaurant for dinner. Food and service top notch. Room basic but clean and comfortable.
It had a lovely atmosphere
We spent three nights at the hotel, the rooms were very comfortable and clean and the staff very helpful, particularly accomodating an extra night that we had not booked. Excellent indoor pool. Good food in restaurant but a bit pricey to eat there every night
excellent location, very private, very relaxing
friendliness of staff
The room at the Robinson was pretty standard, not exceptional, it was what I would have expected for the price range. However the restaurant is exceptional and is reputed to be the best in the area. With the amount of full tables around us in the evening, this would certainly bear testament to its reputation. I would have prefered a duvet rather than blankets on the bed.
The calm and the quiet were notable, and the pleasant walk along an 800 meter woodland path to a secluded beach a great pleasure. The cleanliness of the room and the restaurant was second to none. The welcome and attention of all the staff were excellent. Funally, all the guests were civilised!
It was more than we expected!
The owner was there to welcome us and give us a full history of the Chateau which was very nice. The grounds were excellent and was a 'Bill Oddie' paradise. Cuisine was to a very high standard. Rooms were a little small for the price charged.
nice surroundings bad wifi connection
Location. Very Quiet. Big rooms tastefully furnished. Safe parking. Trusting Staff. Warning: a car is needed as you are in the middle of no where.
Beautiful grounds, quiet, good location for our requirements. Elegant dining room and bedroom No help offered with cases even though to get to our bedroom we had four flights of stairs. (the chatuea had no lift) No tea or coffee making facilities in room. The information via email was misleading regarding the number of evenings the chateau restaurant was open.
Beautiful building and grounds, excellent restaurant. Too expensive
Fantastic building, need some investment to get back to its origin, Rooms very basic and service non existing, No lift, stiff stairs, Food at the restaurant fantastic, deserves to be a Michelin Restaurant but again waiters and staff are not at that level.
Charming old chateau in 17 ha of parkland including swimming pool and tennis courts. Well appointed dining room provides a good range of menus.
Tranquil venue, interesting buildings and a chance to relax. Excellent Gourmet dinners Could have supplied a more varied breakfast, with cereals. Also a hotel wanting to attract international visitors should have at least one TV channel in English. This is typical of France, whilst other countries have satellite TV with channels in English, Spanish, Italian, German, etc.; does not cost much but has high added value.
The food was formidable! The bed caused me severe backache
The hotel is in a good location, back from the over-busy coastal strip. It is very calm, in spite of being on a main road. Our room was absolutely delightful, with a veranda overlooking a lily pond. The breakfast and hors d'oevres buffets were excellent. So near and yet so far. The couple who run the hotel just don't seem to want to make contact with the guests. He was in and out of the (rather characterless) restaurant all evening. Why didn't he, for example take the orders, thus adding a personal touch? And if the breakfast hot drink had been served personally, rather than having been in a pot for goodness knows how long, that would have provided a further opportunity for contact.
Friendly atmosphere with use of the covered swimming pool and tennis court. A bit pricey for the location.
Great rooms, excellent food and facilities, friendly staff
Lovely room, excellent restaurant, nice pool
Very good hotel Rooms very well presented, and staff frendly and helpfull ...... we booked to stay another 7 days ..... Hope to go here again
the room was a surprise as it had a veranda. food was very good
the room was very good. The swimming pool was excellent. The hotel was easy to find.I would stay again if going that way.
Posirion and parking Food was the worst I had during three weeks in France
Friendly atmosphere ideal location and the food was excellent. Avery quite pleasant stay No
Very quiet hotel - good soundproffing, nice little garden, altogether very pleasant
Pleasant staff, comfortable rooms Very expensive meals - but good quality.
Excellent friendly staff with good command of English. Excellent breakfasts. Lack of ventilation at night in garden bedroom unless the door was left open Leaving the door open could result to robbery or assult.
