Pros: This place is just out of a fairytale! immaculately run by Gael and Cecile, our wonderful, kind (very stylish) and most gracious hosts who went out of their way to make us happy - there wasn't anything Gael wouldn't do for us!! The chateau is like little museum, yet very homey, the rooms are super spacious, beautifully designed, with wonderful views of the chateau's massive grounds. Breakfast is absolutely charming, served in an amazing room with attention to every little detail. If you ever dreamed of visiting the Loire and had a vision of how it would be - this place makes it come true on a whole other level. We coudn't have been happier!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the surroundings of the small chateau was exceptional. The charming owner Gaël gave us an insight of the history of the chateau. We felt like home not like guests. It was a fantastic stay and highly recommend it to everyone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing opportunity to stay at a truly historic chateau (built in 1620) that has been completely and lovingly renovated by Gael and his wife Cecile two years ago (they told me that it took 50 people working for two years straight). I stayed with my teenage daughter and son for one night to make the whole "chateaux of the Loire" experience something truly memorable. We got something even better than my wildest dreams. Les Grotteaux is an extraordinary place. Although the overall building is small in relation to the other chateaux in the Loire, the interior rooms are of the same size as larger chateaux and beautifully furnished. Gael explained that the original owner Guillaume Ribier had built the chateau largely as a place to house his library (that occupied the centre of the building). The painted woodwork in the ceiling of the library reminded me of the quality of craftsmanship I saw at Hampton Court. Our stay began with drinks on the terrace overlooking the Cosson and enjoying the last warmth of the sun. My daughter was given the Zeus bedroom with its 400 year old fresco on the wall (and very modern bed and bathroom). My son and I shared the Richelieu suite (so named for the visit that Cardinal Richelieu paid to the chateau in 1628 to try to persuade Guillaume Ribier to become one of Louis XIII's ministers) that had two modern bathrooms! One of the criteria I use to judge places I stay is the water pressure in the shower - on this score, this chateau scores off the charts! Breakfast is delightful experience as you sit in the room that was the original library. Our stay ended with a fascinating tour by Gael... Unforgettable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything about out stay. From our host to the facilities . We can't say a bad word. It was a magnificent stay. We left the chateau like Royalty. A great restoration carried out to bring alive a beautiful Chateau.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is very big. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The place has a newly built swimming pool, that’s good for relaxing in the midst of summer heat.
Cons: Unpaved road with pebbles make it hard to bring large luggage around
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The setting was wonderfull. Lovely room and service. Gael and staff very friendly.
Cons: Nothing .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The château is ideally located to visit East Loire. Is it very close to Château de Chambord (which allows to get there before the crows) and Blois. The Château of Cheverny, Chateau de Chaumont and Amboise are not too far as well. Recently restored château from the 17th century. The château is truly beautiful. Even if the château is small, you feel like nobility. Every detail means something ans the best products that France offers are used in the common rooms. Cecile and Gael are great hosts that take the time to know you. It started with the e-mail they sent after booking. Their advice was very useful, and they took care of restaurant reservations. They offer a tour of the château which was amazing, and makes you realize the great history being that castle. Their Breakfast was probably the best we has in France (croissants, cheese, a complete set of homemade jams, fruits…) It’s a great place to relax as well. They have a nice garden, pool, tennis, table tennis table
Cons: We wish we stayed longer.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was very quiet and also convenient for Blois as well as for visiting various chateaux. The room in the old chapel was large and comfortable.
Cons: A faster internet connection would have been useful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place and peaceful surrounding with owners welcoming you with friendly smile. Outstanding breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Immaculate property, friendly and thoughtful owners, facilities met our expectations. Breakfast composed of a variety of local produce including excellent home-made jams. Owners/staff are also English speaking and can advise on where to eat + what to do (e.g. tips for Chambord chateau).

His English was excellent and he provided us with discount vouchers for local attractions.

Pros: Great location within easy walking distance of centre of village. Very nice, good value, restaurant in village. Our host extended a warm welcome. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Top marks go to our room, the breakfast, the parking, the WiFi and mostly, our host. Our room was ultra modern, with a great shower. Lighting was exceptionally good; better then every other place we have stayed. The WiFi connection was simple and the speed was fast. We could stream video and make WiFi calls. The location was quiet, so our windows were open in the evening. As English speakers, our host helped translate with the other guests who spoke French. I felt very welcomed, and at peace with my surroundings. I truly wish that everywhere we stay could meet these standards. BTW, our room, the "Rose", was the size of a studio apartment.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't stay longer. This is a top drawer place. Don't miss staying here.

The owner was very friendly and helpful and he gave us good recommendations for sightseeing.

Pros: Very nice location. Nice host. Good view. Very clean. Historical atmosphere at the apartment.
Cons: All good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The apartment breathes history! You are in the middle of everything, two steps from the castle. The amenities are modern and you have everything you need for you stay, including a washing machine. A covered paid parking aroung the corner.
Cons: It's clearly mentioned on the website, but there's no lift so the apartment isn't ok fot those with reduced mobility.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I could not have loved this apartment more. It’s in a great location has absolutely everything you need. We had great contact from the owner before our arrival so everything was clear and Bruno who handles the keys was so helpful and friendly. The apartment is very spacious the bed is comfortable and the kitchen is equipped to cook for yourself with everything clean. The place has such character I could have stayed for longer.
Cons: Not that we had a problem with them but the crazy spiral timber stairway is the only access. Getting suitcases up them could be a challenge for some people.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, excellent kitchen and equipment.
Cons: The stairs were steep and narrow with no railing There was no provision to escape in case of fire.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a really amazing and beautiful apartment originally built in the 15th century, Bruno told us ( I hope I'm correct with this information?:), located in the centre of Blois. If we ever come back to Blois, we surely come back here!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The age of the building-15th century!
Cons: The wooden circular staircase, being so old, was a little tricky to navigate but fun at the same time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location and comfortable space like home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best places we have ever stayed at! Beautiful and historic. Close to all the sites.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: the location is quite good, the parking space on the road is available most of the time, if you are not staying at apartment during 9:00am to 6:00 PM, then all the parking on street are free. So I suggest to visit Blois during these time, and do not miss the visual-sound show in Chateau Blois at night. which you may hear from the apartment every night.
Cons: there is no space for dish washer, so your have to wash the dished with hands. there are noise at night from motorbike and restaurant at night, especially during weekend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception ( eventually!) Very nice helpful Bruno. Lovely and warm. Great location apart from car being a way off so problem if you forget anything. Not much you can do about this so not a complaint just an observation
Cons: The very steep winding stairs. Too many different e mails with information. Got confusing hence missed the important one giving information about access. Had to wait about 45 mins before got info. Parking to unload not very good as you block the road so limited time.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: What a pleasant surprise! A modern, spacious, clean appartement, decorated with taste and care, inside a -maybe- medieval building at the heart of old town! A bottle of wine was expecting us! We were sad that we had booked it just for one day! We' ll be back...

7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent meal in the bistro. Food and wine by the glass excellent value. Air conditioning greatly valued in the hot weather.
Cons: Breakfast could have been better organised. Although there was plenty we had to ask for more coffee ( by the cup) and for things to be replaced. Pots of coffee would have simply answered this. Room was fine but small things like coffee on the hospitality tray had been overlooked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice room on 1st floor opening out to little shared outside seating area. Too cold for us to sit outside but was nice to look at through window. Lovely staff. There was no lift but stairs were not difficult.
Cons: Wifi was not good, we kept having to log back in which was a pain. Our meals in Hotel Bistro were pretty ordinary. While we were not expecting Michelin food (3doors down) we feel it could have been better. Particularly the roast chicken, most of which was a bit rubbery. To be fair our lovely wait staff advised that it was a new menu being rolled out that day so, perhaps, there were teething problems.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our brief stay at La Maison d'a Cote, especially the hotel's mid-century chic decor and the lovely breakfast. The staff was professional and very helpful. We had dinner reservations at the restaurant next door, so we were thrilled to find a room in this small hotel.
Cons: The only improvements I could suggest is a few more plugs in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: no black out curtain
5.8 Okay
Pros: The rooms were modern and clean.
Cons: Staff attitude very rude and the meal in the bistro was poor.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a cute, small hotel - very well located for visiting what most people consider the Loire's No.1 Chateau, that at Chambord (it's amazing!); this is only 5 minutes away in the car. A lovely surprise was that there is a Michelin 2-star restaurant, run by Christophe Hay, attached to the hotel: luckily, we managed to get in (superb!), but you'd be well advised to book this well in advance. Easy parking and good wifi. Good shower.
Cons: The hotel has no lift - which could be a problem for people with heavy luggage (we were lucky that the receptionist on duty when we arrived was very strong, and kindly carried our suitcases up for us). The hotel is in a village with no dining facilities other than at this hotel; since the latter are not open every night, it's worth noting that we had a really great meal at the Manoir Bel Air in the next village (about 10 minutes' drive); not only were the food and service excellent, but we also had a table overlooking the Loire - beautiful at sunset!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was closed on the evening we stayed but the Bistro food was excellent, we could not fault it. The wine was from a small vineyard in the Loire, again excellent. The buffet breakfast was very good with lots of choice.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely food excellent service
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fabulous and a bonus dining seat in the kitchen and extra take out homemade nougat, caramels and a muffin for breakfast.

Pros: Friendly owners, lovely setting, lovely breakfast!
Cons: There wasn’t anything I didn’t like!

Pros: A lovely location with truly friendly and considerate owner/operators. Nestled in among the vineyards, only 4 miles from Chateau Cheverny, the hotel offers very simple but clean accommodations, and a pleasant petit dejeuner (a little extra), at an affordable price. The room had a problem with dampness that might cause problems for people with related allergies or asthma but it had been quite rainy, so this may only have been temporary or seasonal. Other than that, we were quite pleased and would certainly go back.
Cons: Only the dampness problem.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Quiet Close to attractions via driving (25 mins)

8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were given an upgrade with extra bed so we can open our suitcase on the spare bed. Although room was small but storage space well thought out. The shower was good. Parking at front of room was very convenient. Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room! Great coffee and croissant! Central idylic location to visit the castles in Blois, Chambord and Cheverny, away from traffic noise.
Cons: The wifi hardly worked! Restaurant in nearby town closed early especially on weekend. The nearest restaurant was in Blois, at least 20 minutes away.
5.5 Okay
Pros: We had the possibility to use the garden so we could dit outsite during the evening
Cons: The word Hotel dus not fit for this accomondation. It is located far away from the city. No restaurant in the neightberhood only a foodtruck.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a clean and comfortable hotel and the staff were helpful.
Cons: No facilities in the room for making a tea or coffee.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was very helpful and kind. I wasn't arriving until after midnight but she explained everything clearly and it was lovely to sink into a comfy bed in a clean room. The rural setting looked delightful - I was sorry I was only staying one night. Breakfast was simple but tasty.

Pros: The manor was a wonderful and very comfortable place to stay. The building is architecturally interesting. Wood lined drawing room with painted ceiling beams. Intimate elegant but not formal separate dining room. Dinners are varied and very good. French quisine with very good sauces. Duck, venision, beef, chicken, fish etc. Breakfasts are simple, just right. Owners are attentive, friendly and pleasant to converse with. They also can provide Loire Valley suggestions for lunches dining, history of the area and touring ideas. We stayed 3 nights and the room was very spacious and comfortable. We would love to stay again.
Cons: Norhing

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hosts! Great chef! Marvelous lounge!
Cons: I liked it all!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the place very much except the breakfast should have been included in price. They don't give you much , spend your money somewhere else for breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a very impressive building to drive up to and the gardens were very well maintained.
Cons: There's nothing not to like about the hotel and restaurant, but having stayed at many chateaux and hotels in France, I would say this offers the least value for money. The hotel was overpriced for what it is, and the room is half the size of most others we have stayed in. Breakfast consisted of bread and croissant, yogurt and Special K - no frills, but at €12, you might have got a bit more for your money elsewhere. The food was good, but we were placed on a table which was adjoining our neighbour's table, and about 30cm away from the next table, needless to say we heard everyone else's conversation, and unluckily for them, they would've heard ours! Zero intimacy in the restaurant which was a real shame. We would rather have been turned away. There are lots of mozzies too, so you will need fly spray to nuke them in your room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely little boutique hotel with easy access to the Loire Chateaux. A great place to stay with friendly staff, superb food and very comfortable rooms.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Very quiet location.
Cons: Some staff were courteous and professional while others were not which is not something you should have to put up with at this price point. It's a shame because with better service this place would be a gem.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Nothing special to either the location or the property itself. Facilities rather basic for this price level Staff somewhat condescending
8.8 Excellent
Pros: very good location for visiting a good number of Chateaux de la Loire (Blois, Chambord, Cheverny, Beauregard) and very close to Blois charming town. Comfortable, chic, very clean rooms; good breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The friendly reception extended to all parts of our 3 day stay. Breakfast and dinner were excellent.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, it is really a chateau with winter garden. We booked the stay for one night also because of the references on booking and we were expecting to have also a dinner at place which is quite normal in 4 stars hotel, but we were told that they were fully booked which we found out was not really the case. The room was nice, quite a lot of space. We appretiated the airconditionning. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom in the attic was not what we expected. No mirror in front of the wash basin and only on the door of the bathroom. There was only a small bathtube not very comfortable for a man. The breakfast was nice but you have 30% cheaper breakfasts in every hotel around Loire with same choices. We liked the winter garden. The hotel is supposed to serve nice dinners but without booking not possible. So if you are traveling like us (all day visiting castles and driving) and then you are told to go for dinner to Blois there is really no need to book this hotel because you will not benefit from the location of the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quaint country house very close to Blois and many of the Loire Valley chateaux. Great spot for a vacation intent on a quiet spot to stay but easy access to all the Loire has to offer.
Cons: Found the breakfast (while good) underwhelming given the €16 price tag. Either it should be included in the room price, reduced, or be more over the top. A nice lunch or dinner in Blois run you about €16.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The property grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed a very picturesque walk along a small river in the town surrounded by flowers and trees, absolutely beautiful. The host cooked us a delicious dinner and the wine was excellent. It was gorgeous to sit outside on the terrace sipping wine and enjoying a wonderful meal in this setting. Do stay for dinner, the food and dessert are great. I particularly recommend the creme brulee.
Cons: Slightly stuffy smell which normally accompanies old buildings and furniture.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Lovely hotel. Friendly and helpful staff.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location cleanliness
Cons: No services available after 8pm,couldn’t get a drink. Premises locked up.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet hotel in a small town. Big room with a very nice bathroom.
7.0 Good
Pros: The facilities were good and the room was clean and comfortable.
Cons: We made a dinner booking for 3 people for 7:30pm and waited almost 2 hours before being served our meal. Other guests arrived later and were served before us. This ruined our evening and I would not recommend the hotel to friends or family. No apology was made to us for the poor service.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel in Blois. We were only passing through, so I don't know how the location is relative to sights or attractions. The staff was very friendly, and the room was the perfect size. The air conditioning is more European, then American (read that as a little on the warm side). But that is something that all properties probably have. I would certainly recommend this spot.
Cons: Stronger air conditioning, but that is me being used to American air conditioning!
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovey pillows, comfortable bed, good location with secure parking and good breakfast.
Cons: The rooms need updating. We had a privilege duplex room that was very strange. Steep staircase to the bed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Located on the promenade by the Loire it provided a first class opportunity to celebrate Bastille Day Fireworks. All facilities were of a high standard and staff were courteous and helpful. The restaurant was very good with a reasonable choice of courses.
Cons: Upon arrival and for the first time after visiting other Mercure and chain hotels on our tour, we were asked to provide a card as guarantee against the account. This was provided and we were assured that nothing would be deducted until departure. However, upon checking the following day an estimated sum of several hundred euros had been deducted immediately. This led to significant confusion on departure and has led to a dispute which has yet to be resolved.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and great location.
Cons: The bed was quite hard. A double bed is small for a couple.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very spacious and clean.
Cons: The hotel didn't cater to guests with food allergy and the breakfast had few or no options.
7.5 Good
Pros: Business type hotel, in close walking distance to the centre and attractions
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great restaurant on-site with full breakfast and excellent dinner! Super close to Blois city and attractions. Free parking close by, also at hotel. Located right along river. Nice bar too.
Cons: Rooms were a bit basic, but still very nice and comfortable. Also, no weights in the fitness gym.
6.8 Good
Cons: Sofa too small for 2 kids
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was all great, we requested a quiet room and got it. Air-conditioning was a requirement as it was quite warm weather. Pool looked great, but didn't use it. Breakfast was fantastic, we didn't need lunch that day!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly and helpfull staff, great facilities and convenient location. Perfect base camp for exploring the Loire region!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly & helpful. The room was very comfortable & well equipped. Breakfast & evening meals were very good. The location was excellent for visiting the Loire chateaux.
6.3 Good
Cons: Restaurant and bar was understaffed, pleasant staff were too busy and thus service was not as personally attentive as it could have been. Bedroom was very small and lacked tea and coffee facilities.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel close in walking distance to Cheverny Chateau and an easy drive to other Chateaux in Loire and Cher valleys. Completely refurbished rooms were very comfortable (we were on top floor under eaves so they were quite small). Good and generous breakfast. Good evening meal options in hotel or nearby.
Cons: If you are visiting in the next couple of weeks note that the village centre has blocked roads due to a refurbishment project - which will look great when finished. The shops and hotel car park are accessible.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Bed was uncomfortable, room was small, bathroom tiny
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The comfort of room and the quality of food in the restaurant
7.5 Good

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent and room comfortable - bed very comfortable
Cons: Only small amount of toilet roll in bathroom - could have done with more.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Room was not ready--beds were not made; there were no towels in the room. To our surprise, our room was a 4th floor walk up with a very narrow winding stairway that would be inaccessible to many people. There was no one to help carry luggage. There was no front desk and the one staff person, when you could find him, was curt at best in contrast to staff at all of the other places that we stayed. Finally, the dormers meant that one had to be careful where they stood up in the bathroom so you would not bang your head.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very cozy little hotel. The room was rather large and and bright.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
7.5 Good
Cons: Almost no toiletaries, no water nor glasses in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was all lovely and a good start to our holiday.
Cons: Shame about the parking but quite understandable considering the location and we were warned
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were lovely and friendly. The layout was lovely and well designed. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was an additional €10 per person but was worth it. Great stay!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location Quietness
Cons: The fan in the bathroom is a bit noisy. However, by closing the door of the bathroom you can easily solve the problem!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is superb! They helped us to find someone to deliver our luggage to another city, since we were moving on bikes. Breakfast was also delicious: especially the homemade jam!!
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Big room, nice decoration and great location. Really convenient for a couple in visit in this cute city!
Cons: Not really a 4 star ranking. No A/C, no elevator for bagages, no fridge and pretty noisy due to the old but charming building. It's more of a high standard guest house than a 4 star hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect and it was nice and quiet at night. Close to good restaurants. Lovely big rooms with everything we needed
Cons: Nothing it was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful 400 year old building with a fabulous original spiral staircase. Bedrooms were large and modern. Great location for exploring Blois. Thomas was very helpful with suggesting a restaurant for dinner and breakfast was great.
Cons: Although I knew there was no onsite parking satnav struggled with the location. We found parking quite easily but in summer it would be more difficult.
