Pros: What a gracious and helpful host! The room was lovely, and all the amenities both in our room and in the commons rooms were super. We were en route to the south and had a late arrival. But also this was managed quickly, professionally and with a wonderful smile in this charming house with beautiful gardens. Good also that there was separate parking just for guests. Delicious breakfast, charming guests and good converstation at the table! We'll be back.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed four nights here when visiting our son and family who were on a Eurocamp holiday. The Room is more like an apartment with a bedroom, lounge, bathroom and toilet with its own private entrance. The hosts, Evelyn and Patrick were superb. Breakfast, continental style, was delicious with fresh fruit from the garden. Tea/coffee facilities in the room is very unusual in French chambres dote but these were provided along with bottles of water. Excellent wifi as well. The chamber dote is in a beautiful old building over 200 years old with an equally beautiful garden. Probably the best stay in France for us and we have been coming for thirty years.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent

We have stayed at hundred of properties over the years, and this was hands down the best yet. Their home was super clean and charming, and the hosts were so nice and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. The town is cute and charming too.
Cons: Are you kidding, we loved everything!

Pros: A perfectly comfortable private apartment, not far from Besançon centre.
Cons: Nothing significant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything our host Richard was great he welcomed us into his home showed us our accommodations and even parking. We were sitting having a drink before heading for a walkabout and brought us glasses of rose. Next morning he served us breakfast in the garden...it was just perfect and peaceful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Didn't really realize it was almost a small apartment. Separate street entrance and even a private door to the back garden area. It was a bit of inconvenience having bathroom downstairs and bed upstairs. Lots of room in sitting area/breakfast room downstairs. Private breakfast served promptly at the agreed time. We would be happy to return!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was very warm and our host, Richard could not have been more helpful with suggestions for places to eat and to visit and directions for walking into town etc. It was an easy 15 minute walk into the old part of Besancon which is a lovely and interesting city. The Citadel is well worth visiting. Breakfast was excellent, served in our own private ‘salon’. The accommodation was charming, spacious and totally private.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Richard was an excellent host, and the chambre d'hote facilities were charming and suited our purposes perfectly. We enjoyed a glass of wine in his lovely garden, and following Richard's instructions were able to walk into Besancon and find a restaurant for dinner. Breakfast the following morning was enjoyed in the garden, but there is a small dining table inside also. We would happily return to Villa Molina if we were in the area again.
Cons: Nothing!

Cons: No on site parking but we were able to park in the street outside the house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in a convenient spot with easy walking to city center and restaurants.
Cons: Parking could be iffy, but in our case no problems. Steps could bother some folks, but we( age 74) were just fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, lovely breakfast, spacious room, parked right outside, easy walk into town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Florence was lovely, very helpful and went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. It is a great location near the city centre, nice room and lovely breakfast with local specialities.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s a lovely old property that has been immaculately maintained and improved to provide comfortable accommodation in a good location 10 mins walk from the centre, with the cathedral and citadel a short walk further on. There is a guest lounge, nicely furnished and where you can make hot drinks. Breakfast is excellent, with fresh, local meats, cheese and yoghurt.
Cons: It may have been just our room, but we did not like that there was no door, and hence no privacy, for the wc/en-suite. Otherwise everything was perfect, and excellent value for money!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful reception. excellent accommodation, very comfortable and spacious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Host, Florence is amazing and kind! After a flawless check-in to this wonderfully restored 1904 mansion, she gave us hints and a map to walk around the old city center. The City is wonderful and full of life and colour. On our return, we sat for dinner and a glass of wine as she brought us freshly made crepes for dessert! After a quiet and comfortable sleep in a spacious room overlooking the citadel and the gardens, we were served an unbelievable, locally-sourced breakfast that she took the time to explain the contents and customs around. We were sad to leave and hugs and goodbyes were still full of smiles. We would recommend Les Fontenottes to anyone... absolutely top notch in every way!
Cons: Softer pillow would be nice but we didn't ask and slept just wonderfully.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: We weren't quite sure what to expect at this accommodation but chose it because of its great reviews, and were very glad we had. The guest room is on the ground floor of Carlos' home, with en suite bathroom (with a very fancy shower, but you can just have a regular shower in it!) and a sauna should you wish to use it. Carlos lives on the upper two floors. The living room and kitchen on the photos are his, on the first floor, but he seemed to very much want us to feel at home in his home, and to make use of the facilities. As we were only staying one night we didn't really have time to do this, though really enjoyed a beer and some comte cheese and crackers which he invited us to share with him when we arrived. As other reviewers have said, Carlos is a great host. He was very patient with our rusty french and we really enjoyed our interraction with him. Besancon is a lovely town and well worth a visit.
Cons: Be aware that the room is on the ground floor and the windows open straight onto the street. There are curtains and shutters so no problem re privacy, but with the windows open we were aware of occasional traffic noise and conversations on the pavement outside.
6.3 Good
Pros: There was nothing special to highlight
Cons: Complicated showercabin to set up right jets, watertemperature a switch on switch off Could be dangerous for somebody who does not like such equipment no profesionally made floor in the guest room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find, parking right out front, restaurants within 100 metres. For tired travellers passing through it was perfect. Double shower unit comes with music/radio steam, lights, two stools, massage jets, hand held/overhead and loads of hot water. Bed comfortable, no traffic noise. Carlos is the perfect host: quietly helpful and generous. We didn't have breakfast (rarely do) but he made us good coffee in the very modern kitchen area. There's also a sauna. Can't fault the place.
Cons: Couldn't access the wifi in the bedroom so Carlos will install amplifiers. Kitchen area wifi very fast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fabulous accommodation, complete with Sauna & up market facilities! Walking distance to the Old Town & CBD The host "Carlos" made our stay

Pros: The location and setting was fabulous. Hosts were super friendly.
Cons: Although we were apparently upgraded to stay in the gite we were told we could not use the kitchen. So much for the Upgrade. I think I would have preferred the room I booked and paid for.

Pros: The location by the river and the surroundings. Excellent hosts. The location is one of those places that make a trip.if you have a chance to stay there, don't pass it up.
Cons: Nothing. Meals at the hotel are only served on certain nights. Not a bother as we drove 1.5 km to another resteraunt that was open.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful riverside location with a warm welcome from the owners.. .
Cons: The bolster on the bed rather than a pillow. I could not get comfortable though my wife didn't have quite so much of a problem. If it wasn't for this it would have been a score of 10.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location next to the river. Breakfast was prepared fresh for the guests and croissants were still warm by the time we sat down.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is in a pretty location near the river, within easy walking distance from city sights. Owner was very pleasant and accommodating. Room was clean and tidy, perhaps a little cramped. There is a restaurant in the same building. We ate there and food was fine. Breakfast at the hotel was nice.
Cons: Do not let google maps direct you to the hotel. You cannot get there by car. You must park in a nearby parking lot/garage, which was difficult to get our car into. The lot costs only 1 euro, so was affordable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a great location, right on the river and in the center of town. Our room faced the plaza side, unfortunately, which stayed busy and loud until 1- or 2 am, so had to leave the windows closed. The room was quite tiny but nice and very clean. Reasonably priced and good value.
Cons: The wifi connection was terrible, we were barely able to check e-mail with it.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Small room, but comfy and nice breakfast!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely surprise in the centre of historical Besancon. Parking was easy through pedestrian malls due to friendly staff at reception and great directions. Due to limited spaces it is essential to book parking in advance. The room was lovely and decor was historical and whimsical at the same time. Excellent quality continued with breakfast was also part of a great experience. There are plenty of quality restaurants nearby for dinner. Beautiful city to explore, great accommodation and we will come back.
7.9 Good
Pros: Really helpful arrival instructions provided by the hotel Good location Quality towels
Cons: There was a horrible smell of Indian spices on the first and second floor, the lift and in our bedroom. The smell was present for the whole of our stay and was really unpleasant
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Best location. Own parking (you can reserve it). Good value
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location is central and the on site car park was really good. The breakfast was adequate, but not fantastic. We paid to upgrade from the standard room, the new room was really large. The secure parking was good.
Cons: Unable to find any fault with this hotel, It was a long winding walk to the room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The central and quiet position is perfect. Parking instructions and car park fine (8euros a day). Welcoming and friendly reception and staff. Comfy beds and pillows. Attractive rooms and bathrooms. Clean throughout. Nice breakfast, usual continental with fresh fruit, cereals, cheese, bread, etc. plus scrambled eggs, bacon and boil your own egg. Good coffee and tea. All for 13euros. We spent hours at the Citadelle and walking all over beautiful Besançon. Had good meals at the Brasserie de Commerce, la Plancha and the Poker d'As. Enjoyed a drink at the lively Café Bohème.
Cons: We were 4 couples with standard and deluxe rooms. We all regretted that there were no shelves (apart from the one with the extra pillows above the small wardrobe, quite high up) or a chest of drawers. There are half a dozen coat hangers, that's all, so difficult to unpack. Despite notices about not changing towels if not put in the bath/shower, used towels were changed everyday and pillow slips too, quite unnecessary. These are our only criticisms and the Hotel de Paris is a great place to stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located. Secure parking. Nice large room. Good value for money.
Cons: The weather!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Central location, friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Cons: Lack of place to unpack into. No cupboard and very small hanging space for 2.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Pretty convenient to the central town, but it is just a little removed if you want to really be immersed in the downtown. The room was really nice and comfortable, but the walls were very thin so if your neighbours are very loud, that is a bit of a problem. But aside from that, it was an easy walk to the downtown and it was very close to the Porte Noire and a lot of other pretty sights.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice enough room, nothing to write home about but spacious and clean with a great shower-room. Car parking pre-bookable was essential. Breakfast was superb, cereals, meats, cheese, pastries etc. Superb location for the old city and the Citadel.

Pros: Hotel is in an excellent location, right in the centre of the old city. The breakfast was very good - though modest, it included freshly-squeezed orange juice and very fresh bread and croissants. The staff were most helpful.
Cons: We ended up moving to another hotel as the weather was so hot and the hotel was not air-conditioned. This was my fault for not checking when I booked. There were fans in the room but they didn't really reduce the temperature and the noise made it difficult to sleep. If you have a room on the front, the street starts to be noisy quite early in the morning. The general decor of the hotel is rather run-down and old-fashioned.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great location, close to many restaurants in the rue Bersot a couple minutes walk. Parking facilities within a few minutes walk. Good size room and bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Old hotel with old furnishes and fittings. Worst of all was the musty smell, the smell that tells you the property is overdue for renovation. In particular, no shower in our bathroom [bathtub only with a hand held shower head and no anti-splash panel]. Minimalist continental breakfast, good croissant and fresh orange juice, plentiful coffee. But no toaster and sliced bread (whole meal for example), baguette only, no slices of ham or other protein, no eggs, the whole fruit was of poor quality, the jam selection came in little industrial packaging and was of poor quality, the cheese selection comprised pre-packaged slices of Camembert (creamy but non distinct) and pre-packaged Vache qui Rit. Not even slices of Comté, THE flagship cheese of the region. All in all, disappointing, particularly as it would not take much to make improvements. Management just isn’t trying.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was excellent
Cons: There was no wifi connection
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, wonderful staff.
7.1 Good
Pros: Excellent location in the city center, with the opportunity of parking in the pedestrian area. Kind staff. Clean bedroom.
Cons: Building looks a bit old and could use some renovation. Bathroom was not very big and lacked a curtain for the shower. Breakfast was served at the table (not buffet) and could perhaps have offered more varied options, though croissants were good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great, helpful and friendly staff. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of the city, close to everything including the Via Francigena
Cons: I would have liked a coffee maker or kettle in my room.

Cons: The location too far out of town. The walk into town not easy - no proper footpath available, or too narrow
7.1 Good
Pros: First night of a touring holiday by car.. easy to find, close to motorway, ample free parking onsite. Great to find it had a swimming pool after travelling 500 miles in a hot car!! Great outside seating area, the location is not pretty but was secluded by large trees and a nice terrace with umbrellas. Clean and comfortable room/bathroom, with a good buffet breakfast choice. Nice that there was a bar/restaurant on site as there did not seem much else to use nearby. Friendly polite reception staff.
Cons: The bar/restaurant was not easy to get served at... although there were staff available and it was not at all busy, they seemed unwilling and not friendly, being watched over by a grumpy manager they appeared to be scared of?!. Very expensive beer.. bad measures, not filling the glass. Also after a swim and a beer, getting changed came back down for dinner but was told by rude staff we did not have a reservation (for an Ibis?!). There were clearly tables available. . eventually, reluctantly, we were lead to a table inside and told where to sit . . we wanted to eat outside on the terrace as it was a lovely warm evening and we had been in a car all day.. they took so long to come to serve us we walked out and did not eat that night! :-(

Cons: Small rooms, sleeping on sofa is uncomfortable.

Pros: Clean and modern. Convenient location. Nice restaurant.
Cons: Air conditioning made me too cold, blankets too warm. Was. Hard to find a balance. Z
