A stay at Manoir de Ponsay places you in the heart of Chantonnay, and within a 15-minute drive of Priory of Grammont. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Everything - the location, the atmosphere of the manor house, the comfort of the room, the food, especially the dinner cooked by Aurèlie (incl. family recipes) but also the copious breakfast, the hosts
Cons: Nothing- it was a “sans faute”
Pros: Charming manoir surrounded by beautiful countryside. The owners are amazingly warm and welcoming and made us immediately feel at home in this impressive chateau. The rooms were incredible with original pieces dating back from across its 400 year history. Both the breakfast and breakfast room the next morning were an absolut delight! Would highly recommend!
Pros: From our first greeting by Lauren and Aurelia to our farewell. It was a lovely experience and we echo all the good reviews of previous guests. Fantastic array for breakfast and extremely tasty dinners. We had the standard room and they have small window so we would go for a more superior room next time to get the best view of the countryside
Pros: I loved this beautiful castle and how the owners put so much care and effort into this wonderful establishment. They are simply the nicest people you may meet. They genuinely love what they are doing and that feels and means a lot. It is just a magical place. Merci. Ps we will be back for sure hopefully soon
Pros: Beautiful castle & wonderful stay. We travelled with our 3 children & felt so welcomed by owner We arrived very late & owner was very kind and understanding. Highly recommend for families, but also such romantic setting. Would also recommend for couples traveling in the area.
Pros: Everything was fine
Cons: The stairs
Pros: Warm welcome and superb dinner.
Pros: What a beautiful place to stay! A beautiful Manor House, with absolutely wonderful hosts. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was beautiful and clean and the bed very comfortable. We booked a meal for the evening and it was lovely. The next day, before we left, we were shown around the property and Laurent explained a bit of the history of the place - really appreciated the personal attention.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: The property was stunning and owner very happy to share the property’s history with us. The family running this Manor were extremely friendly and eager to please - no request was too much trouble. The food was amazing and worth every penny. We enjoyed the real sense of French living during our stay and would most definitely return should we ever visit the area again. Many thanks
Pros: Large room, perfect for a family of 3-4 persons. Availability of pool table and giant chess which made our evenings nice. Swimming pool and seating area. Nice smaller seating areas around the castle. Seating with a view. Quietness in the area and room. Tips of the owners how to maximize a visit to Put du Fou.
Cons: Nothing specific. But keep in mind that the bed in our room was a four-poster bed. Which means that me (1m83) could just fit. So if you are 1m90.... It might be too small.
Pros: Beautiful location.Fantastic meal and good table service.
Cons: Did not find the hotel staff very welcoming or prepared to help with confusions.
Pros: Oweners are extremly helpful and supporting, room design is great and there are a lot of facilities we have been there with 3 kids who did not want to leave ...
Pros: The quiet remoteness of it all was so different from a coastal hotel. The owner was charming and helpful. A truely international prescence.
Pros: Manoir de Ponsay is a nice place-to-stay for one day or more. Actually it was only a stop-over in our case, but exactly the very quiet and restfull stop we were looking for. The owners are nice and sincerely friendly with their guests.
Pros: A beautiful family owned manor house. We had the family room in the tower which was lovely reflecting the era of the manor with a modern en suite with a great shower. The owners are lovely and speak very good english. Great traditional breakfast.
Located in Bournezeau, Chambres d'hôtes Domaine de la Corbe is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Clemenceau Monument and Eglise de Sainte-Hermine. Planning an event in Bournezeau? This cottage has facilities measuring 4090 square feet (380 square meters), including conference space. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: great and beautiful domain, had a great relaxing time.
Cons: Too bad the pool is closed after 8, but i understand that it is for security reasons.
Pros: Everything, totally stunning place will make a return visit.
Pros: Large pool. Location, scenery was lovely. Owner was very welcoming. Overall excellent experience:)
Pros: Breakfast was delicious
Cons: We couldn't check in until 4pm and had to leave at 10am, it's a lot of money for 1 night to not be able to have a longer time in the beautiful pool and gardens! Kitchen in property was a bit pointless....you couldn't actually prepare any hot food and nearest food place was a 10 minute drive away! A small cooker would make it much better! The bedrooms upstairs were stifilingly hot! No fans available! We actually had to have cold baths before bed to cool down!
Pros: Great place, lovely gardens and woodland, private fishing lake, friendly staff, close to motorway, great swimming pool. would definitely like to return.
Cons: Unfortunate that there was no restaurant on the property, our apartment also lacked cutlery and plates etc should we have decided to cook for ourselves but I'm sure they would have been provided had we asked. Other than these two small issues everything else was brilliant.
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful owners. Very convenient location for an overnight stop. Plenty of parking and beautiful grounds. Delicious breakfast, with good variety.
Cons: Limited places to eat locally, and all required driving. When the restaurant our hosts recommended turned out to have been fully booked by a large party, we struggled to find anywhere else, and the supermarket had closed.
Pros: Enjoyed the expansive gardens, trees and pond. Host was informative about the property and while we were the only guests the breakfast smorgasbord was excellent.
Pros: Everything! Located very conveniently just off the autoroute...it is a beautiful place...lovely gardens and woodland walks. Also a beautiful swimming pool. Our host, Alain, was very pleasant and made us feel most welcome. Breakfast was gorgeous, served in beautifully restored stables!
Pros: Idyllic surroundings. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast.
Cons: Air conditioning could be added to make this place perfect!
Pros: The location and setting were fantastic. Very close to a main motorway but in a peaceful rural setting on beautiful grounds. Breakfast was very nice with fresh fruit salad in addition to the usual offerings.
Cons: I mistakenly thought there were cooking facilities when I booked it so that was a minor problem. But entirely my own fault!
La Baudonnière is a 16th-century manor house and is located a 4-minute drive from the centre of Montsireigne and 13 km from Chantonnay. If offers an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and rooms with free Wi-Fi access. All rooms are individually decorated and feature garden views, a wardrobe and a private bathroom with a shower. Breakfast is served every morning at La Baudonnière. Some rooms include a kitchenette with a coffee machine. Guests are able to play darts and table tennis at the property. Le Puy du Fou is 20 km away and free private parking is available on site.
Pros: This is an old house, probably 400 years old, large house, with large and rooms, situated on a large domain. It used to be owned by farmers in the recent history but then was bought by a family that turned it into a hotel. They did a good job. It is comfortable but still preserves an air of the past glory. Breakfast is nice and the owners are very friendly. There is room to park in the yard for the people sleeping in the hotel. We saw a lot of mobile homes as well, on the domain, it seems like a very popular destination for that, people come and stay for weeks to get away from the city We didn't do that. We stopped for just one night, on route to Puy du Fou. The owner says 90% of the people who book a room there are going to the amusement park the next day.
Cons: There is no sign on the building or on the wall surrounding the yard so we did not know if we even came to the right place. That caused 5 minutes worth of confusion and some driving in circles but it turned out OK.
Only 25 km from Le Puy du Fou, Le Prélude offers 1 double room / 2 persons and a second double or triple room (breakfast included) with bathroom and private entrance in a place, at the same time, green, quiet and close to Parc du Puy du Fou and unmissable visits offered by the Vendée Valley so rich and varied. The Prelude, a simple way of life and well being. Upscale room, comfort assured.
Pros: The hostess was charming and the accommodation delightful with a luxurious bathroom and a large bed with a beautifully furnished bedroom. Breakfast was superb taken in the garden .
Pros: V comfortable bed, Friendly hostess and good breakfast. Very peaceful room
Pros: The bedroom and en suite were extremely well designed, really beautiful . Everything we needed was provided including use of the kitchen , dining area and lounge.
Pros: The owner was wonderfully helpful and friendly. She couldn’t do enough for us.
With a stay at Château de Belle-Vue chambres d'hôtes in Sainte-Cecile, you'll be 8.1 mi (13 km) from Priory of Grammont and 9.7 mi (15.6 km) from Étang de la Tricherie. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Hosts, very welcoming and attentive
Pros: Character & comfort in a tastefully decorated chateau. Excellent dinner & breakfast. Lovely hospitality.
Pros: Incredibly helpful hosts. Delicious table d’hôte dinner. Very large rooms in a period chateau. Excellent breakfast with brioche French toast amongst other things! We arrived early (checking in is not till 5.00pm) but we able to go to our room and settle in which was great.
Pros: Very helpful hosts and lots of garden space for our dog.
Pros: Fantastic over night stay. Beds were really comfortable, rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was excellent and the hosts really friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.
Pros: Although we were the only guests as out of season we were made very welcome it was warm a real bonus at this time of year. Breakfast was superb very interesting chateau will definitely visit again.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
Pros: Lovely owners. Beautiful chateau
Cons: Not very clean. Bathroom was clean, linen was clean but lots of cobwebs and dust. Cat on breakfast table was not good.
Pros: It was like visiting your rather grand but impoverished cousin, faded grandeur,. We loved it, but we like crazy! Vincent was a charming host and treated us to apperitifs in the salon. Followed by a four course dinner with wine, all very reasonable for the price. Although a wee dusty it was clean and the breakfast very nice. The rooms spacious and the beds comfy, what more could you ask for.
Pros: Owners deserve you a warm welcome at arrival. Very kind and extremely helpful to any need. Breakfast excellent. Rooms gorgeous
Pros: The hosts were extremely welcoming, their English was good and they were very generous and funny! Highly recommended.
Pros: Lovely chatty lady who is really knowledgeable on Pay Du Fou.
Cons: I was really shocked that the swimming pool was over the road and not at the property. We did venture over and had a swim but having to cross over the busy road with kids is a bit much. I'd have been more upset if my children had been small as it's such a busy road. Not a child friendly environment as too busy.
Pros: Nice garden to sit in. Very helpful owner.
Cons: The air conditioning is a unit that requires the window to be open for the hose to get outside, which makes it very noisy as the unit is noisy and the property is on a very busy main road. The pool belongs to her brother's property which is across a busy main road (as you can see in the photo I have uploaded), whereas the description made it sound like a 50 yard stroll, not ideal for children.
Featuring free WiFi, a restaurant and a barbecue, Domaine de l'Etanchet offers pet-friendly accommodation in Saint-Hilaire-le-Vouhis, 37 km from Puy du Fou Theme Park. Free private parking is available on site. Certain rooms have a seating area for your convenience. You will find a coffee machine in the room. There is a shared kitchen at the property. Cholet is 47 km from Domaine de l'Etanchet, while La Roche-sur-Yon is 19 km from the property. The nearest airport is La Rochelle - Ile de Re Airport, 57 km from the property.
Pros: Double bed too small (1m40X1m90)
Cons: The decoration was not to our taste. The modernisation of the house is done of bits and pieces, with no good taste. The host do not stay in the house. We are left alone in this house, the main door is not locked even at night. No keys are given to the guests (except for the bedroom). Breakfast was prepared the day before (chouquettes were not very fresh in the morning !).
Pros: We arrived considerably earlier than expected, however Magali was there within 15 minutes after we gave her a call which was great. Large, well equipped (if not over equipped) kitchen. Massive house which may be good for large group vacations.
Cons: The grounds were messy and not well maintained. House feels a bit tired and needs a good clean. From what we saw of the pool... I wouldn't swim in it.
A stay at Le Logis des Chouans places you in the heart of Chantonnay, and within a 15-minute drive of Priory of Grammont. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and multilingual staff.
Pros: Ideally situated for us and good WiFi
Pros: Very friendly owners. Good restaurant. Enjoyed our stay.
Pros: The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room was on the small side but well appointed and good value for money. Theshower was new and had lots of hot water.
Cons: The room was small and as the night was hot, it was warm. No air conditioning.
Pros: Place was clean
Cons: We arrived on a Saturday night, restaurant was closed, bar open from 5pm until 7pm. Very basic.
Pros: Spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Lovely evening meals. Will definitely be back.
Cons: Breakfast only fair
Pros: Excellent staff, centrally located and secure cycle storage.
Cons: Dated rooms and bathroom. Restaurant closed on Sunday night as was pretty much everywhere else in the town.
Pros: Reasonable price and comfort for what we paid
Pros: Nice small hotel in near the town centre.
Pros: Staff very pleasant. Comfortable bed. Enjoyed the breakfast.
Cons: The room was very tired and needed redecoration- had a sort of 1980's feel to it, hey, that might be your thing. Chocolate brown bathroom again very tired and dated not particularly nice.
Pros: Room bright and clean
Cons: Hotel appeared closed. Reception open for one hour only
8.1 Excellent (253 reviews)
See hotel page Vronique and Philippe will be delighted to welcome you to an idyllic setting in the heart of the Vende. Their 3-star hotel, The Originals City Le Moulin Neuf La Roche-sur-Yon East, sits overlooking one of the Chantonnay lakes. With its 60 ultra-comfortable bedrooms, pool and restaurant, this welcoming hotel is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy everything the Vende has to offer.
Pros: From the distance approaching the hotel looks fantastic, once there you realise it is a bit of a 1960's style block. Front of hotel looks quite good - strange how they got planning permission for such a lovely location. And it is a lovely location That aside, the hotel was friendly, food was pretty good, value for money and we enjoyed our stay. The important question on all of these reviews is 'would you stay here again'? The answer to that is very much yes.
Cons: Being 'picky' perhaps the general decor is rather tired - an abundance of 'Artex' everywhere including walls ready to scratch the unsuspecting. But, weigh up everything else. It was OK
Pros: Fabulous location and so peaceful, good sized room with a balcony and excellent evening meal with good service, didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment.
Cons: They need to give a clearer address as a bit out of the way
Pros: Location great. Staff excellent. Breakfast basic. Evening meals fantastic.
Cons: Rooms basic. Good beds good shower.
Pros: The staff
Cons: Very dated hotel, staff lovely. Food so so
Located in Saint Vincent Sterlanges, half an hour's drive from the Puy du Fou Theme Park and in the heart of the Vendée region, the Auberge Le St Vincent offers budget accommodation in a quiet and friendly atmosphere. The hotel offers a family room for up to 5 persons, making it the ideal place for a stopover on your way to your holiday destination. You might also want to linger and discover the natural beauty and rich heritage of the Puy du Fou region. The hotel's British pub welcomes you to its warm atmosphere for a well-deserved drink among friends. Gather for a game of pool or unwind in one of its comfortable sofas.
Cons: Owner is not welcoming at all, not helpful, not flexible, not polite, she should not work in the tourism industry nor in any job involving clients. Checkin is at 5pm, check out is at 11am with NO flexibility whatsoever (we had to attend a wedding anc couldnt shower after a 5h car drive). Even though the place is close to Puy du Fou and orher touristy areas, do not stay there. The rooms are clean and as per the photos but there is no common area in the “hotel” between 11am and 5pm.
