10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The location is terrific and I felt safe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. The morning breakfast was very good, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, fresh fruit, waffles, it was very satisfying. I will be back!
Cons: I can't think of any way to improve.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location, the friendliness of staff, the hospitality.
Cons: The facility and room, while preserving it's old character falls short on necessary quality improvements such as the bathroom, linens and carpet/floors. The bathroom has no ventilation system, making for a very damp, moldy and musty environment. Parts of the shower/tub are buckling and distorting due to the moisture. The door to the bathroom was filthy as if it had not been wiped down in many years and it could not close shut, providing no privacy and allowing steam into the room (which in an already humid South Louisiana, is very uncomfortable). I certainly can appreciate the attempt at keeping its old character and charm, but there was no charm preserved due to the lack of detailed maintenance over the years. For $90 a night, I hoped for a cleaner-appearing unit.

The Dansereau House - Thibodaux - Building
6
8.5 Excellent (68 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Thibodaux, The Dansereau House is a 3-minute drive from Nicholls State University and 9 minutes from E. D. White Historic Site. Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator (lift). Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable. The house is beautiful. Good location for restaurants. Friendly staff.
Cons: The downstairs porch wasn’t off limits, but wasn’t as accessible as it is for private events. Should start breakfast at 8AM.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Clean, spacious bathroom. Comfortable mattress. Looked as if this was a grand old mansion at one time.
Cons: Innkeeper seemed disinterested; gave us very little info upon arriving. Breakfast wasn’t served until 9:00 so we were unable to stay that long waiting for breakfast. Innkeeper didn’t seem to care. We were able to find some Kuerig coffee in the dining room (decaf) so we could get some coffee in am. The grounds must have been quite lovely at one time but are quite shabby now. This B and B certainly did not live up to our expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and charm
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely building and the porch was wonderful. It was easy to walk for our meals.
Cons: We wished that we could have had more contact with Linda. Everyone spoke highly of her but we only saw her on our way out. It was lonely letting ourselves in to this beautiful house from bygone days but we couldn’t be there by 5.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The manager told us that a cooked breakfast was served at 9am and, athough we were the only people staying in the house, she refused to bring this forward by half an hour to 8:30am , though she did leave us a cold breakfast which was adequate.
Cons: Our room was above a boiler which rumbled extremely loudly, coming on with a great crash every 20 minutes, and so we had a very poor night's sleep. The room should not be offered to guests if the boiler is always so noisy. The bathroom was freezing - there is no heating in the bathroom. There is no welcome of any kind - the keys were left for us in an envelope at the front door - and the manager hardly said two words to us at breakfast the following morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Romantic yet very comfortable. Friendly staff makes you feel at home.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Incredible historic home. Beautiful views.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Linda was very sympathetic, but it's not enough for this old house which need a lot of works. The photos you see on the presentation are no more available !!!
Cons: NOT GOOD ADRESS -PASSOVER !!! 1-IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE WINDOWS (it's not a tower but a 3 floors house ) 2-VERY NOISY AIR CONDITIONNED (imagine your night) 3 NO HOUSEKEEPING !!!!!!! It was written behind the door ''Use the door tag to let us know if you need housekeeping" !!! and we used the tag but NO HOUSEKEEPING AND NO FRESH TOWELS !!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the spectacular antiques throughout the home. The 12 foot ceilings with chandeliers in every room, period pieces from the 1800s, enjoying rich coffee on the veranda, breakfast served in our room, warm and friendly staff, everything was great!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home and gracious host. The perfect location to walk in the historic part of Thibodeux and near greasy restaurants.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: I didn’t like anything about the property the manager Denny was very disrespectful and man working the desk heavy set, African-American, and tall that morning was very disrespectful also.
Cons: I didn’t like that I was being watched the whole time I was there. I couldn’t stay the whole time (3pm-11am) because he said i was never allowed back to HIS hotel unless i went through him first, and all kind of things at 8 the next morning when i went to get breakfast. He called the hotel office phone and made his receptionist bring me the phone & while on the phone he was very disrespectful. i recorded a little of it so i can let corporate listen to how he was being very disrespectful to me.

6.8 Good
Pros: The bed and bath were clean
Cons: No staff ever around. Dirt on floors. No windows In room, continental breakfast was a joke. Cold biscuits, packages of grits and oatmeal. Fire alarm went off no staff around to figure out why. I guess they cater to plant workers etc .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Unique atmosphere, old world charm! Clean rooms with fridge & microwave, free laundry room & free breakfast. Very nice staff was plus!
Cons: Room had no windows, no elevator, no room info like TV channels or how to contact front desk in room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The price was very reasonable for a room right in town. We were able to walk to dinner. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I like how they have renovated an old historic building into a comfortable space with laundry room, exercise room, and a huge breakfast/lounge area. They had a light breakfast for extended hours to accommodate guests. The bed was really comfortable. As previous reviewers started, the less expensive inside rooms don’t have windows, but the rooms are bright and spacious, so you don’t feel claustrophobic. We really enjoyed stayed there, and would stay there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic, well renovated building with high ceilings beautiful rooms. Hosts are very friendly and hospital)
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The building was historic. The owner very nice.
Cons: Breakfast is very limited. We went to Minnie's Cafe for breakfast. Loved it. Not much to do in the area unless you are visiting the plantations.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel itself and the room were beautiful.
Cons: I did not see a single staff for the entire stay. Not even to check in. The keys and receipt were left on the desk for us to check in. Did not see another human being.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming, friendly staff, good breakfast and coffee, large room & bath that were clean, central location for touring plantations in the area. The restaurant The Grapevine is a block & a half away & was really good with a cool vibe & live music.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just what we needed for an overnight stay before heading to some Plantations on River Road. Was very clean and the owners were very nice and welcoming.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Staff friendly when they were around. Enjoyed the band in the bar on the Saturday night and loved meeting friendly locals. Finished at 12 which was fine for us but would have been very noisy if you wanted to sleep- though I think the bands are only monthly. Would highly recommend a trip to Donaldsonville- a quiet friendly place full of history and a great base from which to explore local plantations.
Cons: Breakfast was very poor. Whilst there were drinks fruit and cakes on tap there was no fresh bread available.
7.0 Good
Pros: Proximity to the catholic church
Cons: Room not dark enough for sleeping. Light from a/c unit very bright

10.0 Excellent
Pros: the grounds....particularly the huge....live oaks....that plus the good maintenance of the overall facility....which of course reflects on the management...it is easily the choice plantation on this neighborhood...indeed perhaps in the country.
Cons: nothing comes to mind
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully landscaped property and feels very private! Room was nicely appointed and the bathroom was nice! We had dinner at Latil's Restaurant and breakfast at the Carriage House and they both served fabulous food! The included guided tour of the mansion was great and very informative!
Cons: Our room faced the street and it was quite noisy during the night with the trucks whizzing past.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious! Staff very friendly and attentive, location very accessible and easy to find, and only 5-10 min from interstate!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable accommodations and the golf drivers get an extra star for friendliness and helpfulness. Breakfast was pretty good...service was slow however. The location is perfect to explore some of the other plantations on both sides of the Mississippi.
Cons: We had dinner in their upscale restaurant..very expensive and the meal was so so but the service was horrible. We were neglected while the waiter visited with another table. This was my second trip here and I will not return for an elegant dinner ~ which is what I expected but did not receive.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We were treated very well. Everyone was nice and the lady at the desk went out of her way to change our room to a 2 bed room. It would have been much easier for her to just say no. Its the second time staying there that the desk made accommodations that made our stay more enjoyable. The servers for dinner have always been polite and engaging when possible. A very kind server took the time out of his busy schedule to show us the impressive wine cellars, which I never tire of seeing. I'd love to meet the owner on one of our stays!
Cons: Everything was great! The only thing I could possibly say was the new steamboat building addition (in my opinion) breaks up the whole scene of the beautiful gardens and grandeur of the setting of such a lovely place. More of the fantastic gardens would have been much more appealing. This is my fourth wonderful stay at Houmas House and won't be my last. Wish that they'd have discounts for regulars. ;)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Tour of the House was interesting (cannot recap the name of our tour guide, would say she barely half interested in her job sadly, delivered a well remembered documentary with little if any enthusiasm) Our dinner meal and breakfast in the Carriage House was fabulous, in particular our dinner, our evening waiter was polite, helpful with menu and wine queries, it really was one of, if not the best meal we had in Louisiana. Our Cottage accomodation was comfortable.
Cons: Our Cottage accomodation was adequate and comfortable, the room was tight, there were no coat hangers and we were not able to source any, a suggestion would be to have torches available in the rooms or the restaurant to assist with the walk to/from the restaurants in the dark
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. A magnificent property.
Cons: We made a reservation for a bedroom for 4 with breakfast included, but we were only given 2 breakfast vouchers.
