10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Canard au Parapluie Rouge is a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Kathy and Martin are the most delightful hosts and make you feel at home the moment you arrive. In truth, you are not staying in a Guest House in the traditional sense, you are staying in Kathy and Martin's home. And it feels like you - and the other guests - are part of the family. Sharing dinner, beautifully cooked by Kathy, around a table with people you've only just met is a lovely experience. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and, being in the quiet countryside, ensured a great night's sleep. This is the second time that I have stayed here and it will not be the last!
Cons: There is nothing to dislike about Le Canard au Parapluie Rouge
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Made to feel welcome by the hosts, a very good experience, one to remember, we would hope to return someday.
Cons: To be able to pay by card as we have got used to a cash free world!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were lovely and the other guests were very interesting. Dinner was cooked perfectly. The bedroom was very comfortable and we both slept well. Breakfast was delicious. They even provided gluten free at very short notice, which was truely exceptional.
Cons: Nothing, it was all great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property with fantastic friendly hosts, be sure to join them for Kathy’s evening meal.
Cons: There was nothing not to like
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Owners were very sociable , it was a pity to leave , too much to discuss! Breakfast was elaborate and setting very charming. Expansive grounds , parklike , different seating arrangements if you want. The fast connection to the Autoroute. For us ideal en route to Spain.
Cons: Nothing particular to worry about. The train is gone in a blip and we didnt hear the Autoroute .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cannot fault this place. You will have heard the old cliche about being "home from home " this place is better than that. Having an incredible homemade evening meal served outside with all the guests sat around a huge dinning table is the icing on the cake. Kathy and Martin work very hard to make their place as good as it is. We have used quite a lot of overnight accommodation on France and i can honestly say non can come close to their place. Another big plus is its proximity to the motorway system. We Will be back.
Cons: Leaving.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Attention to detail and the kindness of the owners. Also, all the guests sat around the same table creating a convivial atmosphere
9.2 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staying at Beau Soleil is AMAZING! The decor and facilities are superb and the hosts Wilhelm and Ren are welcoming, fascinating and generous. The room was fantastic with wonderful views and exquisite furnishings. Antique linen on the beds and wonderfully fluffy towels are just little samples of the thought and care which have gone into ensuring guests feel truly cosseted. Barack the dog will be delighted to see you too. The breakfast which is served on the terrace overlooking the garden is delicious- fresh fruit salad, homemade yoghurt and bread, warm pastries and unlimited tea or coffee. The area around the villages is known as the French Lake District. We enjoyed exploring unspoilt villages, nature reserves and cycling along the smoothest, quietest roads possible. Wilhelm and Ren recommended places to eat which were really memorable. They even booked for us. A truly wonderful place to stay and sample the French countryside.
9.6 Excellent

Pros: The castle!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This place is like in a fairytale, gorgeous and well taken care of. The couple that runs it is very friendly and humble. It's also a great place for kids to run around in and there's an old ice cellar where you can get in to find some bats! Breakfast was simple, but very nice with a variety of fresh fruit and lots of great coffee!
Cons: They should keep the parking away from the seating area, then it feels even more 'fairytale-ish'!

Pros: A hidden oasis in a beautiful medieval cite. Walk through the old wooden gate into a beautiful garden overlooking the river. The suite, with its sitting room and balcony, bedroom, bathroom and dressing area, is a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the views. We stayed for one night en route south but could happily have spent several days in this property. The owner, Barbara, is welcoming and friendly. She recommended L’Auberge, a restaurant five minutes walk across the bridge for dinner, which was fabulous, but we would never have found on our own. Thank you

6.0 Good
Pros: Super location and helpful staff. The hotel has nice "charme" but is overpriced on booking.com. Cheaper to book directly.
Cons: The room was very noisy . Facilities below expectations (ex. : toilet room was very small) ,mainly the isolation is poor. Of course it is an "old" hotel the charme and the hotel has surely the charme but the isolation is poor. The breakfast was below expectations, mainly because we arrived on 10th of October = out of the season and the breakfast offer was "reduced". The price with booking.com was higher than the price list for direct booking with the hotel and for me ,honestly ,the price/quality is too high.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: .Lovely garden area with small pool and bar. Peaceful and secluded. Proprietor was very helpful. Pleasant buildings. Great location
Cons: Breakfast room was too small to cope with a rush of early risers and staff struggled to keep things going.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Flying in from California via CDG we needed a stop halfway between Paris and the Dordogne. A friend found it online and we were delighted by the inn’s old-world charm but also nice, modern bathrooms. Caroline, the proprietor, was very helpful with dinner reservations and everything else. Not only was it just steps from river and CenterVille but it also had a beautiful parklike garden with a pool and bar under leafy trees. We will definitely book again when we return to the Dordogne as it exceeded our expectations.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where to start?! We loved everything about it. We had a lovely view and slept better than we have in months. Carolyn was so friendly, very nice to deal with. The breakfast was delicious, a big selection. We sat outside along the river. Bliss! In future trips to France, we will go out of our way to stay here again.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very friendly and accommodating (American) hosts - Ted and Carol. Large house in a peaceful rural setting. We opted for the in-house evening meal which was well worth it and eaten along with the hosts and 2 French couples. A great evening of multi-national, multilingual eating and drinking sat under the covered terrace overlooking the garden. An excellent communal breakfast concluded our stay in the old dining room.

Pros: On site restaurant was great, room was a decent size and had a toddler bed.
Cons: Room was supposed to have a balcony but didn’t (we couldn’t see any rooms with balconies so think this must be a mistake with the room description on booking.com). Would have been nice as we were travelling with small children and couldn’t leave them to sit in the main garden.

Pros: Beautiful location, very hospitable staff, nice and clean rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fantastic and beautiful property. It is a home, and a wedding location. There are no evening eating facilities, but you should not let this influence your decision. You will be missing s great experience if you do so. A taxi to Argenton is 50 euros return or a short drive away (7km) and we dined at the Cheval Noir. An excellent meal. Just prepare to budget for this. To a previous reviewer, I am also 1.88m tall and view the low beams as a historical feature rather than a hindrance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing. I will be going back!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding building. Typical french Château in an area of total isolation. We were lucky enough to be the only guests at the time so had the entire place to ourselves. Wonderful continental breakfast. Would certainly recommend this place to others. Great value for money.
Cons: Could do with a guide book for guests with tips for local restaurants etc. Only an bath in our room which given how hot it was at the time was not ideal.

7.9 Good
Pros: A simple, clean, overnight stop. Bar was quiet, but beer was good. The room had a shower and it ticked the boxes. Fab boulangerie over the road and river walk nearby. Didn't charge for my dog, which was great. Very quiet, town simple and basic amenities. Will use it again.
6.7 Good
Pros: Position of property was very convenient for our early departure on the ferry. Ability to park on the property as the road was very busy.
Cons: Although the check-in system was very efficient, we missed the human contact and welcome. We were comfortable in our room but spoke to no-one on arrival or departure.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The sheets and towels were clean that’s all I can say.
Cons: Did not open on time so we were kept waiting to check in. It was shabby, run down and nothing felt clean. The room was like a sauna and very noisy with the window open. Not a restful night after a long journey. The town was closed so we had to travel to find somewhere to eat. Would not recommend this place.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: a traditional french village hotel, still exists
7.1 Good
Pros: very cheap acoommodation for myself and my 2 kids and 1 dog. Good local parking and friendly staff. Big family room - 2 separate rooms for us and kids. Shower and toilet perfectly good for the price.
Cons: It was a Sunday so unfortunately as is the case in many French towns, nothing was open so we had to drive 10km to a larger town for dinner.

Pros: Friendly hosts Location
Cons: No hot drinks faculty in room

5.8 Okay
Cons: The bathroom was really dated ,the shower door and tile grouting needed replacing. Two meals- lunch veal tagline was awful..no spices - had better school lunches. Dinner at 35euros was fair,BUT, the hotel guests and local patrons were on different sides of the dining area, ok their local diners are important as they bring profits all year...as dusk came the local diners were brought candles for their tables!! Hint residents no longer welcome ! Also, the pool is in a building opposite across the road.Don
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff and food good but the manager/ chef’s manner needs to be addressed and improved but maybe too old to change. Other people delightful.
Cons: As above. Manager very helpful but either did not care for English speaking people or had something troubling on his mind. He needs cheering up with life in general.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Confort. No air conditionning. Dificult to stay in the room due to high temperature
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel. The owner/manager/chef was very helpful on check-in and even let us park our motorbike within the grounds, directly under our room.
Cons: Air-conditioning would have been perfect, but the fan supplied was sufficient.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Michelin recommended excellent repasse
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Argenton-sur-Creuse is an ideal location being halfway between holiday destination and channel port. Hotel is in a quiet street very near to town centre. Free public car park is across the road. Superior bedroom is fairly spacious and clean. Evening meal - 29 euros for 3 courses - is of extremely high quality with good service. Breakfast is very much a do-it-yourself basis with various options for continental breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
6.3 Good
Pros: Dinner was very good.
Cons: The room was basic and had few facilities even though we had booked a superior room. It certainly was not worth 95euros.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Goodfood
Cons: Lack of facility to make hot drink in room.I wake up early and this is often lacking in French hotels.
