The size of the rooms and the shower The noise as the rooms were not very soundproof and children running up and down the corridors early in the mornings.
Peace and quiet also the staff and food was v good none
Lovely room, with many designer touches. The wait staff in the dining room was especially efficient and helpful. Beautiful garden. The hotel is in a handy location. I found it difficult to read by the very dim bedside lamps.
Friendly and very helpful staff - comfortable rooms, open fire in the bar, excellent food.
Lovely relaxed hotel with excellant food. Enjoyed it all.
Clean, modern and comfortable Nothing at all
The luxury room A wedding was on at the hotel on our first night and we were put in a room directly above it. It was not a quite christmas getaway we had hoped for,
The room (Roxby)was small. The bathroom wass poorly laid out ie you virtually had to climb over the toilet to enter the shower and the lighting was wholly inadequate.
The staff was lovely and most helpful.
The location, the view from the room and the contemporary decoration in the room The fire alarm that went off at 3.30am! The speed of the service wasn't great either, drinks in the lounge took ages and breakfast was a slow process
Very friendly staff, and location was brilliant with lovely views and grounds to walk in Nothing
Lovely setting, excellent food comparable with michelin starred restaurants we have used, friendly and attentive staff. That we couldn't stay longer!!
It was more than expected excellent I would have liked a bar area
Very good staff and pleasant surroundings The facilities for smokers were an insult and absolutely appallling when most pubs in slums do better as of course most hotels do too. Those at the wedding that was going on when we were there were equally disgusted on this issue. All my comments herein are all subject to this one criticism.
The staff. Attentive and courteous and professional
The food and the room.
Missed breakfast however they still provided us with a breakfast in the lounge whihc was excellent
The hotel is in a fantastic location, and verry easy to find. The hotel grounds are wonderful, well worth a walk riubd. Our room was large and well decorated, and very comfortable. Very expensive, breakfast portion was tiny!
The lovely gardens and grounds, and table-service in the restaurant.
High quality escape from business Nothing
I spend a lot of time in hotels and this time I felt as though I was in someone's home - A crisp autum walk around the grounds followed by hot chocolate in front of a real crackling log fire..heaven. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and breakfast fresh cooked rather than kept warm under hot lamps. Bedroom cosy and comforable with stereo /cd with cds and i pod dock, candles and oil burner in the bathroom. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to avoid the 'corporate hotel' My only suggestion for any improvements would be that the decor in the room I stayed in was rather tired ( a bit 90's) and I would have loved a reading lamp in the armchair seating area to complete the experience.
We attended a wedding so only had bed and breakfast in the hotel which was excellent. The wedding arrangements all went well and seemed well organised.Having viewed the menue we will return for dinner at some furtre date.
just about everything, the whole experience was most pleasing! no
hotel is immaculate and in stunning surroundings
lovely large room, very quiet and relaxing. beautiful grounds , had a nice walk through the woods. bed not comfortable due to mattress topper.
The helpfulness of the staff, very obligeing The room could have been better for the price. It was cold and small
Location location location!
position of hotel, lounge, restaurant particularly evening dinner one window in a narrow luggage alcove in the corner of the room did not have a drwa curtain/blind and allowed early morning light to flood in
fire in lounge loud unloading outside bedroom wndow early morning
The location. Centre of Richmond on the market square and near the castle 1. Accommodation. Room very small and Fire exit was through our room and bathroom. 2. security. Fire escape door was in bathroom and right next to window into our room. The window had no lock. 3.poor housekeeping standards a)Sorting dirty linen on floor of public landing. b)Not having room cleaned and tidied by 1.30pm although we let them know we were going out at 8.30am and room available for cleaning.c) providing insufficient linen. 4.lack of managerial response to complaint. Reception staff said manager would ring us on the Monday as they did not work weekends. This never happened.
View of Market Square. Good base for touring Northern Dales Friendly & welcoming staff Car Park a bit tight Noisy outside Saturday night
Friendliness of staff. Superb breakfast. Lovely spacious rooms. Excellent bathroom. Was looking a little tired (but there again it is 300 years old!) We were in the annexe which does not have a very attractive approach or entrance.
The excellent meals. The hotel is a little 'tired'. Facilities dated, but staff, cleanliness all good.
we found the hotel to be clean and the staff helpful .the food was of a very good standard the price we booked for on-line was not the price charged by the hotel .It was much dearer
Hotels location was great for our purpose. We were originally given a room without widows we could see through. (Room 12). On asking at reception we were changed to room 4 which had great views of the square. Helpfull staff.
