10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building in lovely country setting. Very well looked after by hosts. Fantastic breakfast. Very comfy room. Dog was made very welcome.
Cons: For us with new hips the stairs were a challenge!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool was lovely- and really clean. Breakfast was amazing and we loved the resident cat and dog. It was lovely to have breakfast outside. We had a lovely meal in the pizza place in the next village- les delices de l’abbaye- huge choice for our fussy teenagers.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property is very clean and very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the owners were very friendly - English conversation was not a problem and the restaurant recommendations were all good. Would certainly stay again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The hosts, Nicolas & Bridgitte couldn't do enough for us. The breakfasts were amazing, with selections of breads, cakes, more breads, pancakes, fresh melons, fresh jams, hams & cheeses. Pancakes were also made to order for our daughter & nutella re-stocked when she finished! We had a nice evening meal of local produce & wines, in which another guest 'outed' my love of croissants so they then also appeared at each subsequent breakfast, which shows the attention to detail that justifies their high marks. The property is amazing with beautiful interiors & lovely grounds & pool. An added bonus was the selection of outdoor games within the grounds (basketball, archery, table tennis & badminton). An ideal place for a holiday or a relaxing stop over, we hope to return! Nickolas - the wine was tres bien!
Cons: The only thing that could've improved the score was perhaps having a fridge in the room, as for us we were perhaps unusual in that we were there for 6 nights, whereas I suspect most people are there for 2-3 nights tops.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were first class, on arriving we had not booked a meal so the owners booked a table at a local restaurant for us and also took us to the restaurant and joined us for a meal, just the best. Breakfast was a feast, lovely fresh bread, all you would ever want, thank you!!
Cons: Our room did not come with private bath room but the bath room was just outside our bedroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful big old house with lots of character and stone staircases in a tranquil setting. Lovely grounds. A massive bedroom with private bathroom. Storage for our bikes and our dog welcome. Magnificent breakfast. Friendly welcoming hosts. I wish I'd packed my swimming costume because the pool was lovely. The best place we have ever stayed in France

Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like.

Pros: What a wonderful place to stay after a long day driving. This place is most certainly a little gem. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the room lovely and the location was fabulous yet so close to the motorway. Breakfast was amazing and kept me going all day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It’s charm and the wonderful hosts.
Cons: Having to leave.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. They made me feel like one of the family. Superb breakfast with home made yogurt, fruits from the garden and eggs from their own chickens.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hosts and breakfast too.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome to this small and delightful B&B which has one bedroom with adjoining children’s room. Simply charming and attentive couple who fed and watered us really well. Had dinner in their quaint dining area full of lots of interesting chabby chic pieces they had up cycled. A plentiful meal comprising mainly pastry-based dishes with home grown vegetables and lots of cheese! Breakfast was a veritable feast of their eggs, home made jams and yoghurt and a tart which was wrapped up for us to take away as we couldnt eat it all. Lovely comfortable seating area outside the room with well tended garden area. Comfy bed, a fridge with water and a wide selection of teas/coffee. Even a microwave!
Cons: The main ventilation/lighting to the bedroom was the French doors. Perfectly safe to leave open - otherwise would be hot - but could be a problem in inclement weather. The shower arrangement was a detached shower hand-held whilst taking a shower- a bit clumsy and difficult. Would benefit from a screen of some sort so the shower could be attached and one wouldn’t have to worry about drenching the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is very comfortable with all sorts of interesting and unusual features. The hosts are super and very willing to communicate although they have little English. Their food is wonderful, genuine family food, much of it from their own garden. The terrace is a lovely place to sit and relax. The nearby Marais Poitevin is well worth a tour - by car, bicycle or boat!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owners, pretty house and garden, lovely small village and a great location for a stopover on our journey south. Optional evening meal was absolutely superb as a treat, the owner is a very talented cook. Lovely breakfast too.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were delightful and breakfast was excellent. Location is good for motorway
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The very friendly welcome, hospitality and good home cooking. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: Nothing, we have stayed 3 times and it is a perfect stop over en route to the ports from SW France to the UK.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic property hidden away in the Vendee. Both hosts spoke very little English but that didnt stop us conversing with basic hand gestures and nodding. The accomodation is great, very comfy bed, bathroom with power shower and ususal tea & coffee in the room. Fantastic breakfast in the owners kitchen/diner, highly recommend for getting away from it all
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location seems very remote and peaceful and is yet really not that far off the beaten track.
Cons: I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it, but you need to be able to speak French to communicate with the hosts. One disadvantage is you have to drive to go out for an evening meal. But then Christophe sorted out a reservation for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This rural property is pleasantly situated on a quiet road beside the La Sevre Niortaise. Our room was comfortable with a walk in shower as well a bath and separate toilet. We thought it a bit strange that the decoration should be an Ile-de-Re seaside theme in the middle of the countryside. It had a small outside terrace with a table and chairs and was quite charming. The breakfast is included and was served in the family room with the other guests. There was a great deal of choice and freshly made crepes as well as delicious home baking. It's a relaxing place to stay and the couple who run it are friendly and welcoming though they only speak french. We arrived on a motorbike in very hot weather and were keen not to have to rely on using it when we were staying. We did walk to le Mazeau one evening but that's quite a trek but interesting bird and animal sights along the way. The village has a boulangerie and shop that sells wine and local products but that's about it. Next day we were able to borrow two bikes for free and cycle to Coulon which is more of a town with cafes and restaurants etc. Cars are restricted by narrow roads with many small bridges so we thought cycling was the best way to get about. The boat hire thing was not for us an option in the scorching heat.
Cons: With access to bicycles and a relaxed agenda, it's a great place. We would have enjoyed the area more in cooler temperatures. It is green and rural so you rely on entertaining yourself.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or helpful. An amazing stay in a wonderful location. We hope to return soon!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens, cute swimming pool to cool off after the journey, superbly friendly welcome and delicious breakfast (with home-made jams). We were only staying for one night to break up our journey but were sorry to leave and would gladly have stayed longer.
Cons: For us the kitchen area was a little bonus and absolutely fine, but if you were relying on it as a main feature then you might find it a little under-equipped.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very, very hostile people. Quite and peacefull place wit a Nice garden. Great breakfast prepared with love.
Cons: Room with only a window in the door. We slept with the door open which was safe and ok.

Pros: very friendly welcome and very nice host, beautifull location !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely house and pool, really quiet, delicious breakfast.
6.8 Good
Pros: The pool and breakfast were great.
Cons: We were unlucky that it was a very very hot day but the ceiling fan was broken and we were not offered a replacement. The description says air conditioning but this is a freestanding unit with a tube that you put out of the window so not practical to use all night. It was so hot that we didn't really sleep. If it hadn't been so hot it would have been fine. The arrival time does actually does seem to be a 30 minute slot which is a bit tricky if you are using it as a stop over on a long drive. Also the hosts do not speak English so probably better to stay there if you speak French.

Pros: Little gem in the middle of nowhere. Friendly, welcoming, good room, good pool, great cat. Beautiful.

Pros: Beautiful setting, really friendly owners gorgeous breakfast We would highly recommend it. Lovely pool.Brush up on your french! fantastic lake nearby by car with watersports and a waterslide for kids!
Cons: Restaurant down the road closed and paid 75 euro for takeaway pizza!
7.5 Good
Pros: Warm welcome by the owner in a nice place. You feel that the owner takes a lot of care of the environment for their guests. The breakfast is very good with a lot of self-made or local products. The swimmingpool is an extra point and refreshing after a long warm day.
Cons: We were travelling by, so the location was not that important to us. Despite the fact that the house is lying close to a busy street you do not hear anyting from the traffic in the rooms, as they are located at the backside of the house.
