Good wifi. Comfortable. Good size rooms. No English-speaking television stations.
Comfortable and large beds, good location for eating out, parking and helpful staff. Breakfast seemed expensive, especially for children.
Situated in the centre of Montlucon, near the medieval area. Room adequate for an overnight stay. Parking available. Very small room. Very hot, no air con or fan for hot weather.
Simple and Clean
Very convenient for an overnight stop on the way south (or back!). Hotel staff fantastic - really friendly and helpful. Good location for looking around town and plenty of places to eat. Rooms decent size and clean, breakfast great.
Convenient to town bars and restaurants. Good value for money, good breakfast and friendly staff.
No rear access from parking at the back of the hotel
The manager was extremely helpful as i had made an error in booking the room which he then sorted out for us, in an extremely helpful and friendly manner.
Very friendly staff. There was not much choice at breakfast. It would have been nice to have ham and cheese instead of just croissants and jam. Also, would be good to have at least one english TV channel, since it was advertised as having satellite tv.
From the moment we arrived at the Hotel , Fabrice was very charming. Although both my children and I speak French, my wife does not, and he spoke very good English. He his a Charming, hardworking patron. Good value, i would definitely stay there again. No dislikes
Nothing The room was tired and the bed very uncomfortable. Also, the shower was the worst I have ever used anywhere in the world and given that you normally get good water pressure etc in France, it was disappointing.
System seems to work well. Restsaurant good; food seemed less in variety and quality than inprevious stays. Rooms adequately equipped. Very poorly signed to find the hotel. Even with satnav it was not straightforward. Very small tv screen.
Although clean the decor dates back to the time of the Paris riots. One can imagine Serge Gainsbourg sloping around the breakfast buffet, Gaulouise in hand, seriously hung over!
Convenience to old town.
Directions to the hotel were poor and it was difficult to access due to Montlucon traffic management near hotel. Parking was virtually non-existent when we arrived due to the hotel sharing car park with a Commercial Centre. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and it was near impossible to park near the hotel. Also the restaurant wasn't open at the weekend for dinner, your site did not make this clear. After eating in the town centre we returned at 21.30 to find the hotel locked. The standard of decor in the room was poor, but it was clean. The bathroom was clean and well appointed, although rather small.
High quality accomadation in an interesting town The ventillator system of the hotel had a large fan mounted close to our window - the noise from this was similar to sleeping on a cross channel ferry. I would have been disturbed - however I was so tired I slept anyway. I informed the recepotion about this problem in the morning - they said that they could do nothing about it....
Very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant excellent, food very good. Breakfast very good. Service very good . There is nothing to dislike about this hotel and we wished we could have stayed longer. Will definitely go back.
good location, great restaurant serving very good food at a reasonable price, good wine list again at reasonable prices. no
The location was ideal for an over night stop
Clean comfortable well appointed hotel. Excellent location in very pleasent town. I would have liked to been offered a room at the front as these were available and we had a room at the back. No, great hotel
great location. Value for money. Air conditioning a great plus. At the front of building which was great.
Cleanliness, high standard of decor, furnishing etc Tea, coffee in room would have been beneficial
The hotel is well located in the town but also very quiet. There is adequate parking close by. I would have liked a balcony but didn't get one. The breakfast was not very good value for money and we had a wait for ages before the coffee was refilled, Next time I would go instead to the Mini Golf Snack Bar where we had dinner the night before as it was very good value for money.
We were amazed and thrilled that it had a small refrigerator and since we were traveling with our daughter, it had a separate room for her. The only negative comment I would make is that possibly some bowls and plates and cups could also be provided.
Thw view on the casino Breakfest
The staff were very friendly an extremely helpful The hotel looked extremely shabby from the exterior and was very tired inside. ( carpets and curtains were old and tatterd and faded) Needs a lot of work.
The communal areas and exterior were shabby. The corridors smelt damp and the carpets were badly fitting and shabby. The curtains in our bedroom were threadbare and looked about to fall apart, however the sheets and bathroom were spotless. Bathroom was out of keeping with the rest. It was 3 star while the rest was 1. Oops see above
second stay in this hotel. This time we did eat in the evening, and had the residents menu, which was excellent, although our choice of dishes was unfortunate, every one elses food looked nicer than ours. There were a couple of minor niggles about the room and I mentioned them as we checked out. The owner thanked me for telling him and made a note to fix them. I felt that he did "care"
A warm friendly welcome on arrival. most enjoyable evening meal.
Everyone was very friendly and I would definitely recommend the hotel to our friends and family.
The lay out
The location, the general relaxed ambiance of the hotel and the presentation of the garden and pool areas.
Extremely pleasant staff. A very spacious room with a very large, comfortable bed. An excellent evening meal, delicious food and attentive service. None that we were aware of.
This is a really charming hotel with very helpful staff, our room was beautiful and real value. If you travel through Bourbon L'archambeau stay here. It's a really nice town and this hotel is right in the middle of the most scenic and historic part of it. Eat in the resturant of the hotel, the food was excellent.
Charm old-fashion hotel
Beautiful building, lovely gardens all of which were well looked after in a slightly "faded" way. breakfast expensive and not well organised.
room was quiet and cool, overlooking the court yard, unfortunately we did not eat at the hotel in the evening, ans so can not comment about the food. How ever the breakfast was excellent, and the only suggestion to improve would be to add hard boied eggs with the cold ham and cheese none
Having a lounge to relax in. Food was very good. General quiet ambience. Lovely countryside to walk in
Elegant and relaxant atmosphere.
Fantastic, friendly staff and beautiful grounds surround the chateau. The chef is incredible and we enjoyed every meal.
Service poor in restaurant
Easy to find, near all the resturants and shops, easy check in. Air conditioning not good, and room very cramped.
Friendly, clean and comfotable and more than adequate for anovernight stay.
no free parking
Good location close to the town centre and convenient for all shops and local attractions bars and restaurants. Close enough to the train station to walk if you had no car. A small but comforatble hotel, very clean and tidy, comfortable beds, and our room had a lovely view of the river and the fountain which was lit up of a night. Good value for money and would stay here again.
The bar food we got at 11.25pm was not nice at all. Chicken was luke warm and rice was the same. Not good at all.
An ideal stop-over heading back to Calais after a short break on the Canal du Midi. Easy to find, central location. Excellent evening meal. It would have been nice if there had been coffee/tea making facility in the rooms, although there was 24hr room service.
Staff are very friendly and the location is good. The room I booked was non-smoking but it had been smoked in. The breakfast waiter told me that children's breakfast was free but then I was charged.
clean room and comfortable bed
The only hotel which had rooms left breakfast is very poor.
the price no ac
internet for free the brakfastroom was small, or there were a lot of people because of the vacation.
Comfort and convenience.
Outside stairs to rooms, rooms very basic
Very cheap Very basic
Nice relaxed atmosphere; great location; places to walk the dogs; no supplement for dogs
The room was warm and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value for money. The room was like being in a submarine; very basic, no natural light, no comfy chair to sit on, a bunk bed above the head of the main bed, no telephone, no instructions on how to use the Sat TV; no bath mat to soak up water after a shower and finally very noisy neighbours.
Convenient, functional. Although very basic it was acceptable for a overnight stop.Staff were friendly room was OK Breakfast as you would expect. Overall good would consider using again
Convenient overnight stop
Clean - good WiFi connection - an excellent buffet breakfast. Room had recently been decorated and was very clean.
Friendly welcome and very helpful owner who spoke English. Hotel extremely clean, quiet location very close to centre of village with parking available. Good value for money and we would be happy to recommend this hotel.
Good on the whole; helpful and comfortable.
This is calm, has good parking space and is close to a wood for jogging. The bedroom and bathroom are of a comfortable size. No.
Friendly staff, who remembered (or looked up) that last year we stayed there with children. Good, not too sophisticated food, adequate bedding. On arrival, we doubted if we better should have booked a twin room instead of a double, but everything worked out well...
Friendly & helpful staff. Clean & comfortable room with excellent large en-suite. Very good breakfast. We wished there had been a restaurant. The one recommended in the village although very attractive inside didn't produce very good food.
No nonsense, family hotel, fine for a one-night stop in transit across France We had two rooms, the keys seems to open either room.
The hotel offfered family rooms, always good when you are travelling with children. Room was clean. Perfect for a stopover when travelling through. Value for money. Private parking also handy. Quite outdated; like stepping back into the seventies. Stairs and floors in the hotel have a tendency of sloping to one side.
It was clean comfortable and you get what you pay for, the family room had enough beds for us all to sleep in but was a bit noisy as it was next to the Station!
it was a stopover en route from spain to england and ideal as it offered a family room for 5 whereas the main motorway chgins make us take 2 rooms
