Not much, however the room was quite comfortable. The services in the bistrot was very slow...
The hotel was beautiful and roomy, with a relaxed feeling. Le Bistrot restaurant was excellent, as was the lounge bar. It was nice that the guests had free access to saunas and the swimming pool. The hotel was well worth its price. The room was a bit plain and didn`t have the same comfortable feeling as rest of the hotel. The bed was terribly soft and uncomfortable, and we did not sleep well in it. The treatments in the spa were not worth their price, and felt a bit unprofessional an uninspired.
i liked his location and the room was very big but had a very bad smell. the staff at the reception should be more kind and helpful. and the smell in the room...
Staff, pool, food, cleaniness, helpful, relaxing Bar service was too slow, waiting for long periods and very expensive.
Centrally located with original period details and close to good restaurants, shopping and the natural waters for which Vichy is famous. It is perfect if you plan to visit The Opera House which is opposite. Parking was a bit of a bit stressful. The hotel does not have a car park so there is competition with fellow guests and every day users of the town for the limited number of spaces close to the hotel.
The hotel represented what was good about the Art Deco period. However, this hotel although clean needs a lot of refurbishment.
First impressions from entering the hotel were that it was very old fashioned, but we were pleasantly surprised when we entered our room. It was very nicely decorated and not old fashioned at all and the bathroom was modern and very clean. It would have been nice to have had directions for hotel. Had to stop and ask in the middle of Vichy, and then found we had to park nearby because of the one way streets and not being able to find our way to park in front of hotel.
Please write at least 15 words wifi did not function in floor five or in dining room although clearly advertised as being hotel-wide. Room smelt of smoke and had an ashtray allthough it was designated non-smoking. No mention of wether we wished supper when we checked in mid-afternoon but and was full when we asked at about 1815. Hotel reception did not volunteer any information outside of a direct question, for example when asked for some options for an evening meal no map was offered and a somewhat curt direction was given. All the hotel light bulbs were the minimum to see by, no clear lighting anywhere, the pool area was scruffy, the second lift from our corridor was very dirty with encrusted food and debris on the torn carpet. All in all the hotel appeared tired and run down, no door staff visible or offered for help up the steps of the non-disabled access. We had booked two nights but left after one.night.
good steak in the restaurant Hotel pictures on the website are way nicer then the hotel actually is. As if time stood still for about 100 years
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location in centre close to river, shops, restaurants. Interesting, attractive 'older style' building.
The welcoming service, spotless, warm room (winter visit). Lovely location on the park. Good restaurant, fine service.
My overall impression was a good and positive one. The positives are: It is locatable by satnav. Good and free parking. Literally a 5 minute walk to the centre. Attractive and spacious foyer. Lift to all floors. Large bathroom. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Clean room and bedding. Bedroom was warm on a cold and wet day. Free and good speed Wi Fi. A fixed one choice menu for dinner was too limiting. Our bedroom was slightly smaller than we would have preferred. The shower did not drain properly so the water built up in the tray quite quickly. Tea and or coffee making facilities in the room would have been helpful. However, the above did not detract from our stay. The experience would have been enhanced if these aspects were acted on.
Restaurant is good. Wifi is very slow and do not work from the room, only in the lobby, but not always. Not suitable for business people. Website reflect different impression than reality.
The location of the hotel is very good, the shops and restaurants were in close proximity. The hotel itself was lovely and had great facilities and great value for money. I was on a business trip so appreciated a comfortable room after a days work. I would of liked more choice for Breakfast i.e. Cooked breakfast is my preference but the continental was nice its purely a personal preference.
I stayed for the second and last time in this hotel because of my experiences below. The restaurant menu is still in French only! More worse was that the air- conditioning was switched off in the entire hotel with an outside temperature off more than 27° Celsius!!!!!!!
We have stayed at the novatel several times, for several nights as we like Vichy and have friends living near. We like the novatel because rooms are a good size, there is a swimming pool and there are parking facilities. I think it's the only hotel in vichy with a pool. It is central, very near to shops and restaurants. WFI is a little expensive. In many hotels there is no additional chargae. Probably beginning to need some refurbishment.
Hotel reception staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel has a good location in the city center of Vichy. Hotel restaurant diner menu was only in French not in English or any other language.
The hotel looks really cheap, I would never go back, the worst is that I have choosen this because of fitness room. But the access to the fitness is 18,5€.
It was easy to find after a long journey and a comfortable stay before the next leg of our journey.
Location. Only. Yes. I was promised the use of Thermalia complex for 6.5 euro per person. When we arrived we could enter it for free but there is no use in that - they have only cabinets there with expensive procedures which you should book long before hand. The stuff spoke zero English in Thermalia, the complex itself looked like the hospes - lots of 70-80 old people. Only. Waste of money - i would not come there if they told me on the phone that i cannot use the Thermalia.
the location and parking facilities are about the only qualities worth mentioning of this hotel. Service is non-existent, utilities do not function, staff are simply not interested in their guests and very unhelpful, the rooms are gloomy and for the price charged it is clearly misplaced in your ranking. It should be one star with a warning.
location, parking double bed too small. It looks a bit old, a renovation would be welcome
Good food, thoughtful and friendly hosts, made to feel very welcome.
The Patron and his wife are charming and very helpful. This is a charming old fashioned French hotel - as they were in the 60s and 70s. It does not feel like a chain hotel at all. Sample it while you can - before they disappear! Very convenient for Vichy centre with 4 covered parking spaces. Bedroom cleanliness was patchy - some bits excellent & bathrooms very clean. Some of the doors and French windows are tight in the frames
The staff were fantastic, very helpful and very friendly, highly recommend. Not a thing.
Location, quality of facilities Reception closed until after three. Not warned and we arrived at twelve.
The location on the river bank and the ease of parking Not so near restaurants
location room too small
Good location, on-site parking, clean and efficient, pleasant service Would have liked in-room tea/coffee making facility
Reasonably priced, parking on site, good location. A bit run down, lift failed towards the end of our stay, lower stairs in a poor state of repair, reception closed between 11:00 and 15:00hrs, inadequate waste bins in rooms.
The central location and hotel car parking Nothing
Good location, easy to find, with very helpful staff.
Good position, relatively quiet, one receptionist friendly (but one not) Poor cleanliness of crockery (eg plate chipped), poor standard of breakfast for price
Convenience to centre. Nice walk by river into town. Receptionist very helpful. Parking facilities free.
Confortable bedroom Good linen & towels
This hotel is a true find. We took a superior double (for 2) and found it to be large and comfortable. While not luxurious, the room more was generous in size. Breakfasts were generous, and the staff and management perfect. I cannot envision a better hotel in Vichy for location and value, and the Management team's warmth on arrival and throughout our visit was really the icing on the cake.
staff very helpful and cheerful/ hotel central for City sights, shops and restaurants
It was a really nice clean place whith some romantic touch in the design. Loved it.
Very friendly and extremely helpful owners, quiet but central position, overall a very positive experience
The frieindliness and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding Coiuod do with re-decorating
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room, especially compared with the norm for hotels of this class in France.
The hotel was in a very good shape and the manager and staff were all very friendly and nice. I really had a good time in their hotel and strongly recommend it to others.
Very welcoming, pleasant, and helpful hosts, who gave us a good dinner recommendation (Brasserie du Casino). Easy to find the hotel with GPS. Just enough room in the street to unload our bags, then the hotelkeeper took our car to the hotel's garage for the night. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the spas, opera, etc. We enjoyed our brief stay very much. We did not like that the room keys were kept on a board in front of the reception desk, which wasn't manned every minute, so someone else could have taken our key. This is our only complaint.
Well located & good value for money. Very helpful and pleasant staff. parking nearby can be a problem
A very solid value for the money House keeping woke me up at 8:30...
Very nice and accommodating staff, excellent facilities. Not enough towels for a full family visit.
The hotel is conveniently situated for the activity I was engaged in - motorcycling holiday. It was fine but nothing special. I would not use it other than for this purpose and that my friends were all staying there.
The staff were friendly and the hotel was in a very convenient location for exploring Vichy. The bedroom was a very good size and the hotel had nice period features. Thought the bathroom and soft furnishings could do with a bit of updatinf/modernising.
The staff being very helpfull, although when arrived they had no record of the booking from booking.com, they managed to accomodate.
Breakfast, air con reception/bar area
Very clean & comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast with plenty of choice
Location and staff were very good. Godd restaurants close by as well as at the hotel
Good location Parking was not easy at times.
well run hotel and warrants a 3star rating
very bad the hotel and staff .. but near very good very bad the hotel and staff .. but near very good
The hotel was convenient for the city centre, Rooms were modern and clean although small. The lack of air conditioning was a negative. the front of the hotel looks onto a main road and traffic noise would be problem if you a a light sleeper.
Hotel is located very central. No hotel parking available but enough parking lots near to the hotel once the shops have closed. Then free parking until 9.00 in the morning. Free wireless lan in the hotel. In the morning there was only one staff available for checkout, breakfast and room service.
room was tiny, one meter only on one side of the bed, two meters at end, almost no lighting. see above
Very attentive and friendly staff, excellent breakfast, although the weather was very cold the Hotel was always warm, ideal for exploring Vichy. Would stay again if in the area .
Owner delightful. The hotel was close to parking in the city centre was reasonally priced and had a faded charm about it.
The location was great for walking around the town. The room was quite small but comfortable enough. The staff doesn't speak English, which was okay for me because I speak a little French, but for travelers who don't have any French it would be much more difficult. However, they were very kind.
The service and food in the restaurant was superb The room facilities were just a little tired.
city centre locatiom
The Hotel du Rhone is a charming "old fashioned" French hotel which is ideal for people touring France...as I was!
The hotel is very well located in the city. You can reach easily all points of interest in Vichy. The staff gives you a warm welcome. The rooms located to the inner garden are very quiet.
The hotel is in the centre, walking distance from hte points of interest. Good hotel for the price. No english speaking, no elevator, bathroom small.
Peaceful room overlooking garden yet very close to station
Very friendly staff although language was a bit of a problem
Warm welcome. Easy quick check in.
Good location, clean and decent, friendly reception, reasonable rates Should have had an electric kettle provided for tea or coffee
Very friendly management, good service
The staff were very helpful and cheery
Very clean. Room was basic, but location was great.
Good bathroom. Breakfast was sparse. Traffic noisy.
friendly owners, local parking free on street till 9 am rooms not very comfy or welcoming
The owners were very friendly and welcoming.
A very central location and very considerate other guests. The room could have used a lick of paint.
The room was new and good; the WiFi in the room was great. The noise, since it is on wood floor. At 9 am we could listen every step of the cleaning people like they were on our room. The curtains let the sun light pass. Bottom line, excellent if you need to wake up early, poor if you need to rest in the morning.
Lovely building, gardens, pool, good tour of the castle, very quiet, lovely room and bathroom, lovely area, kind people There were no bar, no room service, no activities at night which made it more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. The breakfastroom was impressive, but the breakfast itself quite simple.
The history and setting of the chateau The bath would benefit from a shower screen to prevent unavoidable soaking of the floor which is working its way under the floor covering
the way the castle is being restored comform original design and the quietness and the space
The chateau was in a georgeous location, and very peaceful. We had a lovely welcome from the staff, and an excellent meal in the dining room. We were also invited on a tour of the chateau, which was interesting. Other reviews have commented about the quality of breakfast, and although a simple continental breakfast, all items were of a high standard. We had two double rooms - one for the boys was good, but ours was a little grotty / dated. It did have a water bed though !!
Staying at Chateau de Busset is an exceptional experience. You are handed a bunch of keys and treated more like a family guest than a hotel guest. The buildings, gardens and surroundings are absolutely splendid, and full of history. There is an optional tour of the private rooms thrown in with the room rate. After making the booking with booking.com we received a separate acknowledgement from the hotel pointing out that the restaurant would be closed on the day we would be there (a Monday) and offering to make a reservation at 'La Petite Auberge' in the village - which was excellent. Altogether a memorable experience. It may seem a small thing in the midst of all the splendour, but the breakfast coffee could have been a great deal better! Communications are not good - minimal mobile signal and no telephone in the room (or perhaps there was one, and the room was so huge that we didn't find it).
nothing - it was like camping out in a really strange building without any one else about after 7PM this is not a hotel nor do they like having guests,,,no food, no wi fi as advertised, take a tour if you must but don't stay
Very peaceful village. It's a real "chateaux", still inhabited, with some rooms for tourists. We liked the place very much and were sorry we stayed only one night No real problems (but there is no elevator, mind that if you cannot use stairs). If you do not choose to dine at the chateaux, you have to leave the village of Busset to find a place to eat; but since you most probably arrived with a car, as I said, it's not a real problem.
Interesting chateau with plenty of atmosphere, comfortable, peaceful and close to Vichy.
