Pros: Very large well appointed room and quiet.
Cons: Bed was a little hard for our tastes.
Pros: Excellent hosts with a large spacious room and an enormous bed, a wonderful breakfast and a small pool to cool you off after a long hot drive.
Cons: Not so much a complaint but a suggestion, the use of rubberized under sheets make for a very sweaty night's sleep, we removed ours as we have encountered the discomfort previously
Pros: We love this wonderful and extremely comfortable place set in a middle of the Cognac wine country. Corinne and her husband were truly exceptional hosts making sure that we had the very best experience visiting their Cognac region and have all the comfort we were expecting to have from their wonderfully renovated house. The large room was nicely decorated, the bed extremely comfortable, the bathroom super, and the breakfast to die for. In many way, the enjoyments of life are dependent of unpredicted circumstances, staying at La Charentaise, is one of those unique occasions where everything comes together in the more positive aspect. We love that place and unconditionally recommend it for a day, a week or a month. Try your-self it you do not believe us. rather special for those who like nature.
Pros: I was loved this place,so nice and clean, the owner very kind... Very good place for stop there ,thanks Victor Santos
Pros: Very friendly accomodating host she really goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are happy, I would highly recommend to other travellers.
Cons: Only minor thing was it was very hot and some fans in the room would be welcome
Pros: The room is nice, clean, and the decoration is pretty cute. The host of the house is kind and friendly:)
Pros: Christophe and Corinne were Excellent hosts, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome they were so warm nothing was too much trouble we would definitely go back we absolutely loved it!
Pros: such a wonderful welcome and a gorgeous room with a mezzanine for the children which was a big adventure , breakfast was deliciousy presented x
Cons: directions from booking .com were not the best
Set in Chaniers, le Logis du Plessis offers accommodation with seating area. There is a private bathroom with shower and a hairdryer in each unit, along with free toiletries. Continental and buffet breakfast options are available every morning at the bed and breakfast. Le Logis du Plessis offers a terrace. After a day of hiking, cycling or fishing, guests can relax in the garden or in the shared lounge area. Royan is 46 km from the accommodation, while Saintes is 8 km from the property. The nearest airport is La Rochelle - Ile de Re Airport, 89 km from le Logis du Plessis.
Pros: The property is very conveniently situated 3 or 4 kilometers off the A10 at Saintes, with ready access to the Town with its many restaurants. We suggest that you enter the property from the Saintes / Cognac road, not from the D124 via Chaniers. (We got lost). The welcome was delightful with a (free) drink in the garden to calm the mind and meet the host. Breakfast included fresh croissants and marvellous home made confitures, plus a superb home made panacotta with blackberries from the garden. The bedroom and shower room were very clean but 'rustic' in style. Excellent value for money. We plan to return.
Cons: I would have preferred a more substantial bed but that is being picky. One or two furniture items in the bedroom were on the fragile side for my overweight frame!
Pros: Hospitality and friendly reception Accuracy of listing
Pros: This B & B is the closest you will get to the France of the past. From the moment you pass down the drive France becomes the Logis du Plessis. Jean Roger, who is a very genial host, was waiting to welcome us and showed us to our room and explained everything. The facilities might be from the past but the comfort and service is very much from 2019 ! (The only exception being the Wi-Fi which was available but we could not make it work so that was probably down to us.) We had a quiet and comfortable night in a lovely period room and the en-suite bathroom facilities were likewise period but modern in their functionality. Breakfast was served in the lovely and spectacular dining room by both Jean and Marie-Cecile (English perfect !) and we thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience and meeting such nice Hosts - Merci beaucoup pour tout Jean Roger and Marie-Cecile. Merveilleux !!
Cons: Nothing - a lovely experience all round !
Pros: This place is a welcoming oasis of peace and quiet. Although we were at the verge of a heat wave, there was a nice breeze outside and the spacious room was actually quite cool. The hosts are a lovely amiable couple, who are very helpful and they even welcomed us with a refreshing home made drink in the garden. You have lots of room to park, the breakfast is simple but tasty, very good croissants and baguette, and home made marmelade, and we got some eggs from their own chickens. (As well as an assorted cheese plate on the request if we could get some cheese as well) If you are travelling with children, (or even without), they have a large shed with a ping pong table, a fussball table, a large box of legos etc. which our son loved :) The B&B is in a beautiful region, with sunflower fields and vineyards around the corner.
Cons: Not an issue for us at all, but there's no tv in the room.
Pros: Amazing location. Amazing friendly host. Good breakfast. Clean room. Peaceful rustic French location
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect. Rustic France at it's eloquent best.

Pros: Very cosy Bed and Breakfast, in a very quite and nice place in the countryside. But not far from a nice and interesting town as Saintes, where you can find plenty of restaurants and shops. As well as some historical and architectural sightseeing. We had a family room for 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 baby; and the room was absolutely big enough. The breakfast was quite complete, including some home made products. The owners are really warm and friendly. Always ready to assist and have a nice chat.
Cons: The first time you go there it may be a bit difficult to find. But if you pay attention you will find some signboards showing the way to the house.
Pros: The quietness
Pros: Lovely location, beautiful room and charming hostess
Pros: Bedroom pretty and air con
Cons: Water was not provided nor tea/coffee. Breakfast basic. Address even wirh sat nav very very difficult to find. We're ready to give up and move on.

Pros: Very friendly welcome. The host recommended and booked a table at a lovely restaurant for us. Enormous bedrooms
Pros: The entire ambiance was wonderful! The flowers the stars the atmosphere the recommendations from Fabrice the gardens the whole relaxing atmosphere was a total joy!
Pros: Friendly owner
Pros: Owner very friendly!!! Rooms big and comfortable.
Cons: I booked 2 rooms because we were 4 people. In the description, it said One room accommodated max. 3 people. But when arriving at the property, we saw that 1room could effectively accommodate 4 people. In short, we booked 2 rooms, but slept all in one room. Leaves a very bad mouth taste, smells fraud...
Pros: The really friendly helpful owner The spacious room
Cons: Nothing at all !
Pros: Lovely, peaceful stay 15 minutes from Cognac, and amazing orchids discovered on a short walk up the lane behind the chateau. Masses of pyramidal, man, bee and fly orchids too - I was in heaven!
Pros: Fabrice is a very kind person. He prepared breakfast at 6.30 on our request!
Cons: Quiet place.
Pros: Beautiful location, extremely kind and friendly staff, we had a big room with great view to the garden; breakfast was all we needed, very good and all fresh, exceptional. We stayed just one night, but it was great!
Pros: Everything, one of the best places we have ever stayed in. Fabrice was so welcoming to us and our dogs. A definite....we will be back.
Pros: Excellent guest approach, very helpful and nice receptionist. The castle is nice and romantic, recommended for couples. Good location for exploring Cognac area.

Pros: Wonderful nature and staff
Cons: No idea, it was perfect
When you stay at Gite du Calme in Cherac, you'll be 15 minutes by car from Chateau de Cognac. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Such a pleasant atmosphere. Warm welcoming stay.
Pros: Pet friendly. Lots of children toys in 'Deluxe Family Suite'. Very welcoming owner. Nicely decorated.
Cons: There is no soundproofing at all, from common area you are separated by one layer of floor planks. You literally can hear people breathing and I imagine they can hear you too...
Pros: Great B and B. Great room, amazing for the money. Quiet location but close to Saintes and Cognac. Julia the host was totally lovely. Really relaxed, friendly and went the extra mile to provide a great breakfast for me with dietary issues. A hidden gem on our tour of France. Totally recommend.
Pros: Everything! Amazing cute place in the middle of the vineyards, super near to the town of Cognac ! Dream spot!
Cons: Julia, the owner is super attentive and makes sure guests are taken care off at all times. Will definitely come back again.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owner, nice guests
Cons: It's a bit hard to find, especially if you arrive at night
Pros: Lovely room. Relaxing friendly place
Cons: Nothing to dislike. Is a bit tricky to find though!
Pros: Toys and books for kids
Cons: Nothing all was perfect
Pros: I loved the location of the B&B, very peaceful in the middle of French country side and surrounded by vineyards. The garden was great for my dog who loved to run around and chased some cats! I also loved the decoration of the house.
Cons: I was a bit disappointed with the mattress in the double room upstairs. I could feel the springs. I spoke to the host about it and she recommended putting some sunbeds mattress on the bed covered by another sheet, but still wasn’t very comfortable. I appreciated that Julia tried to help but I still think the next investment should be a new mattress for that room. The breakfast had a great selection of pastries, cereals, porridge etc However, there wasn’t any soya milk for my coffee or my porridge. I only booked last minute, but if you can, I suggest you book a couple of days in advance and you let Julia know your dietary requirements, so she has time to get some soya milk or whatever you need from the shop. Apart from this, it was a nice stop on my way from Spain to England.
Pros: Comfortable bed, nice shower, well equipped kitchen and pleasant garden. Good spot for a few days break and good value.
Cons: Larger gite du calm sign at property entrance would have meant i found it quicker.
With a stay at Logis de l'Astrée in Saint-Bris-des-Bois, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Arch of Germanicus and Golf Louis Rouyer-Guillet. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Sophies friendliness and genuine warm welcome. The charm of the restored old buildings is overwhelming. Dinner was also a delightful home cooked experience with all drinks included. There is also a great swimming pool avIlable.
Located in Saint-Bris-des-Bois, Hôtel du Grand Chêne is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Golf Louis Rouyer-Guillet and Abbaye aux Dames.
Pros: Very quite and pacefull - in the middle of nature. Good value for money if you love classic countryside hotels Not too far from Angouleme or Cognac makes a good pacefull visiting base for the region
Pros: Cheap hotel - we wanted to stay overnight for a wedding in Abbaye Fontdouce and it did the job.
Cons: - There was more noise from traffic than we expected in such a small village. The hotel is on the main road of the area with cars from surrounding cities passing by in high speed - Bathroom was really subpar. There was mould in the shower and my wife spotted cockroaches in there. The shower door was broken. - There is no reception, it's the bar downstairs which is only open during the day and evening but not at night.
With a stay at Design Hotel des Francs Garçons in Saint-Sauvant, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Arch of Germanicus and Golf Louis Rouyer-Guillet. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Guests may use a train station pick-up service for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beds really comfortable. Nice decor
Cons: Where shall I start. The hotel had a massive parked right at the entrance on arrival and half of the road was being dug up. Check in was v easy and pleasant We were woken up at the crack of dawn by the giant digger in full swing outside our bedroom window. Couldn’t open the shutters as the builders were level with our window. Went to go to clean our teeth to find we had no water. We were then told that the water was off! So we were unable to have a shower, wash or even use the toilet. I politely suggested to the lady on reception that it might be a good idea to give us some bottled water so we could at least clean our teeth. There no gesture or even a solution and actually no apology. Instead a bill of just over 140 euros for our stay! They should not have allowed bookings in the first place. We were pretty disgusted by the whole experience and should have been offered a refund
Pros: The checking staff waited for me until midnight as I was late and asked them if it was possible and that was great The breakfast is all sweet stuff but very good products Room is nice Hotel design is really nice
Cons: There were works in front of the room outside and that woke me up at 8:30 with lots of noise. But I know it's not the fault of the hotel
Cons: I picked this hotel due to the advertisement of a gym. The gym was a cross trainer and a rowing machine in a very small room. There were no photos of the gym online
Pros: The nice cat outside.
Cons: The pictures were very deceiving on the website. I picked the place so my kids could swim, after seeing the pool I wouldn’t have let my worst enemy get in it. The carpet in the room was disgusting. I don’t think it’s been vacuumed since it was first installed. The bathroom was nasty, thank god I had some cleaning stuff in my car. I believe I left it cleaner then when I checked in. No shower curtain or glass on the shower so after you shower the floor is covered with water. The place in general is in need of a renovation. It could easily be four star hotel if they would put some effort into making it more comfortable for their guests. The drive from Cognac to the hotel was about 20 minutes away...it was further then expected when I booked.
Pros: Lovely quiet location, very comfortable beds, nice pool to cool down in, friendly staff.
Cons: There was no shower in my room due to the ceiling height. There was a full size bath. If you want a shower, ask before you arrive.
Pros: Everything. Staff was very professional. Eveyone found a way to satisfy our needs.
Pros: Very quiet, charming village, delicious breakfast
Cons: Parking can be a little difficult
Pros: The location is fantastic. The little bistro across from the hotel had a great atmosphere and served great food
Cons: The hairdryer only blew cold air and was covered in a sticky substance and dust. The shower was in the bath and hand held so you had to sit in the bath to shower. The window of the room was tiny so very little light. The bed was completely hard. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room. When we arrived I had to search the hotel for someone to check us in, despite calling the number displayed. The hotel is adjacent to a church, the room they gave us faced the church and the church bells ring from very early in the morning, which woke us up. All this for over 100 euro per night with no breakfast or tea/coffee making facilities, it was way overpriced.
Pros: The owners were most welcoming and could not have been more obliging. The food was superb and those who provided dinner and breakfast were friendly and helpful.
Cons: I don’t see what else could have been provided to make our stay any more pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
