9.6 Excellent (206 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Gîte Chute Couette & Café in Notre-Dame-du-Portage, you'll be on the beach and 6 minutes by car from Club De Golf De Riviere-Du Loup. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, kind, considerate host. Comfortable room, excellent breakfast. Can't fault anything.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a delight and both food and presentation were excellent. It was a beautiful location .The flowers were lovely in the outside garden and the décor inside was very well chosen. Very good taste even to the toilet tissue holder in the downstairs bathroom. We were pleased that we were able to have our breakfast even if we were early.
Cons: The only help we needed was with the TV remote.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so nice and the breakfast delicious!! It felt like home.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was quite good (but I think the reviews and photos had made us expect something extraordinary, instead of very good). Hosts were really friendly and helpful. It was great being able to walk the beach (it is rocky with small areas with sand so bring sneakers). The sunset was extremely beautiful.
Cons: Room was tight and not soundproof. (I think this is an older house that was converted into a BnB). Parking was awkward. (I think they have one more room than parking spot... so we had to wait for others to move their car to get out - the owner managed this very well and all went smoothly, but it felt awkward having to report on our timeline. I don't think this would bother most people)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly greeting and tour of facilities: kitchen and common seating area with balcony overlooking the beautiful St Lawrence river, lower terrace with waterfall. Superb breakfast. Spotless and comfy room.
Cons: Difficult to think of anything we did not like...walls offer little sound proofing would be the only comment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beatiful bed&breakfast, with very nice owners!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This little house, once a duplex is just charming. We booked the double room with private bathroom. The bathroom is across the hall and locks to ensure it stays private. This is located on the second floor and next to the kitchen and common area which is available to all guests. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Our room had a beautiful view of the river and the adjacent common room has a balcony with the same view. The other guests were quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was delicious with coffee, crepes and fruit, followed by an egg breakfast with homemade jam and pâté. The hosts were amazing and welcoming. They speak English and did a great job including us the breakfast conversation.
Cons: Honestly, nothing. But if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs because this is a house which means that the rooms aren’t sound proof.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are gracious and friendly. Colbert conversed in English and accepted our attempts at speaking in French. Lovely beach just across the road for catching the sunset over the St. Lawrence. Colbert happily made a dinner reservation for us at a nearby “Auberge” and suggested we ask to share the “plat complet”, which worked well for us. Second stay here and would definitely stay again. Conveniently located midway between Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Pros: Couteous staff. Clean and well located. Good for a one night stay.
Cons: The description mentioned that there is a pool, so you expect an outside garden or terrace and sitting area. But the the pool is located 10 minutes walking distance away at another hotel owned by the same group. So yes, there is an access to a pool, but no pool at this hotel. So I felt cheated. I selected this hotel expecting some outside amenities.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from our room was amazing. The balcony was nice. The location convenient for our sightseeing. The restaurant recommendations were good.
Cons: Mostly great. Bathroom a bit small, furniture a bit banged up but still nice to have a table and chairs in the room.
7.5 Good

Cons: very short of electrical outlets. gad to unplug fridge to plug in TV
5.0 Okay
Pros: View, room was ok, personnel was ok
Cons: Tap in shower dripped and there was only cold water for a morning shower
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Big room with jaccuzy (?) bathtub. Comfortable bed. By the the St.Lawrence river. You can ask for a room on the river side (beautiful view). We had one on the street side. Good service. I complained that there were hairs in the bed and they sent someone right away to change all the sheets. They explained that it happens sometimes even after washing the sheets. I had no reason not to believe them. Anyway, they apologized and took care of it quickly, so I was satisfied.
Cons: The layout of the bathroom. The toilet is too close to the wall, and the toilet paper holder was poorly located (I had it in my armpit when sitting).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is clean, the room is enormous for a hotel room! They even have a huge TV! We didn’t need it but it might be of use for someone like a family. The bed are sooooo confortable and after a long day we really needed a good night of sleep and we got it! Three huge mushy pillows and a soft comforter, the bed isn’t too hard or too soft it’s just perfect to be comfy for pretty much anyone. The staff was so very nice and they even if I booked the room last minute, they had extra blankets set up before we arrived (I asked for it when I booked the room) The location is wonderful and right in front of the water and the room has a balcony so you can enjoy looking at the river ❤️ Would 100% recommend and I am now a little sad that we can’t stay longer
Cons: The ferry is right in front of the hotel but it leaves only 3 times during the day so it’s not a big deal.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: It could have had a continental breakfast.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Well located, clean room. Nice staff.
Cons: No reason to complain about.
5.4 Okay
Cons: The room was dated without any AC. It was overpriced. The locks on the doors were inadequate.
7.9 Good
Pros: The view, with whales !! They do have whales there as well. It was the whole house by the road to Taduossac that we rented, with beach, near good supermarket and gas station with lots of food. It’s 25 min to Taduossac not including the Ferry. Taduossac is very nice place but there was no more hotels available
Cons: Communication is very poor, people don’t speak English only some a bit.
6.7 Good
Pros: the bathtub , very big
Cons: the coffee
7.9 Good
Pros: Perfect accommodation! Next to the river! With a wonderful view!
Cons: Bed was not so confortable
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location of the main hotel was spectacular...but that is not where we were put (see the "negative comments"). the town was nice and the staff was nice and it was very close to the ferry.
Cons: The main hotel was very nice looking...but when you book on the site it is very unclear that to stay in the nice part, you need to select "FLEUVE VIEW" If you select "MOUNTAIN VIEW" you end up in an overflow motel across the highway with no real view, unless you like parking lots. There is an interesting whitewater river feature, but it is nothing like the photos on the site which would indicate you have a view of the St Lawrence river. The price for mountain view is slightly less, but for the type of motel you end up staying in should be significantly less. We felt quite misled, and the difference between the booking types should be MUCH more clear on the web site, and the type should be accompanied by photos: Fleuve view showing the river, and Mountain View showing the parking lot. The motel was clean, but for the price, very simple and basic and minimally supplied. I would expect much more for $180, and have stayed in similar motel rooms for $80 and which often include breakfast!. I was paying for a location that I didn't get.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really HOT water available; mountain river at the back porch; bathtub; fridge and coffee available; spacious parking; fresh air. Generally, everything that was needed, was there. Even a coupon for the restaurant (but the restaurant wasn't that good).
Cons: Dust on lamps; poor sound insulation of the floor; door lock didn't work at all; not quiet warm room; reception is pretty far from the rooms; not good English at reception; bad window shades; humidity in the room.
Gite la Charmeuse - Saint-Siméon - Bedroom
13
7.2 Good (164 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It's an old house with interesting curves. There are a lot of amenities available including a turntable and vinyls from the 60s. The beds are nice and the breakfast and the swimming pool are awesome. The place makes it easy to end up chatting all night long with the other guests. The owner is very friendly. I stayed there only for one night and I loved it.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The house itself has a very charming living room and dining area and the main bedroom on the first floor with ensuite bathroom is very nice - WAY nicer than the upstairs rooms. Those rooms have decent beds but there are some issues. The host, Marc, is friendly and informative but his partner is another story. There is a modestly equipped kitchen and a couple of BBQs available to use. Be aware that only the top of the stove works but there is a toaster oven in the dining room. There are plentiful dishcloths and cleaning supplies in the cupboards. A continental breakfast is included (mostly wheat-based croissants and toast with a small serving of fruit and yogurt) so if you are gluten-free make sure to pack your own breakfast food. BTW if you are a croissant fan this is a highlight as they are made fresh on site.
Cons: If you've got balance issues be aware that the stairs going up are crooked and the floors are on a slant. In the upstairs bathroom the shower looked like it was developing mold on the floor (bring your shower shoes). The outdoor pool was warm but somewhat slimy making us wonder how often it had been cleaned. There is a trampoline that the three kids (age 12-14) enjoyed - until the morning we were packing up when the host's wife yelled at them to get off and said they were not allowed to use it because we were leaving. It was well before the 11:00 a.m. check out time. BTW - there are no signs posted near the pool or the trampoline to indicate hours of availability or rules. The rules seemed to be made up on the spot whenever the host's wife saw us attempting to make use of something. In fact, it was the attitude and behaviour of the host's wife over the three days that really affected our rating. Each time we had to bring something to her attention (i.e. no soap in the upstairs bathroom 2 days running; burnt out light bulb in the upstairs bedroom) she stomped over to the house to verify that we really needed what we had asked for and then responded with varying degrees of civility (supplying the hand soap without rancor but accusing us of touching the light bulb and causing it to break). She seemed really uncomfortable and irritated with our children. She accused one of the kids of "messing around with her dogs" - located behind a fence beside the path to the house - they walked by and the dogs barked at them (as dogs do). When one of the kids was sitting in a patio chair near the house checking their phone, she stood nearby glaring at them. Recommendations to hosts (1) put the house rules in your listing and also post signs on the property re: the rules for the trampoline, the pool, the path by the dogs, etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and super nice place! The breakfast was yummy. We shared and made a bbq with the other people living with us for the night. Everything was great
