Pros: Laurence and Francois-Xavier were absolutely fantastic hosts. Really wonderful people and I would say that they made our stay really special. They’re happy to help with anything you might need and made me feel so welcome ♥️ We had dinner with them one evening and there was another Belgium family staying - what a beautiful evening. We ended up eating, drinking wine and talking for hours, such a lovely experience. The breakfast was perfect too. Enough to suit every taste. The location is stunning and really peaceful. I will absolutely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, sound fulfilling break away.
Cons: only thing I’d say is that you definitely need a car, but that’s no reflection on the hosts or actual accommodation though - just a recommendation as taxis are very expensive - if you actually manage to get one.

Pros: Great place to stay as we were visiting family, also a great place to use as a base to visit the beautiful surrounding area. Carol was a great host and with some great restaurants nearby you won't go hungry. Very relaxed atmosphere at the B&B and were able to relax after busy days with a nice bottle of wine and maybe a cheeky wee beer which were available to purchased at a very reasonable cost. Breakfast was lovely and with home made bread which was amazing we were set for the day.

Pros: Fantastic rural building and very nicely decorated rooms. If you looking for very peaceful night you should pop in. Ideal stay to rest on the way to somewhere else. Garden full of cherries and I was invited ro pick as much as I wanted.
Cons: Not just here but I found the communication in France somehow difficult - my fault of course (I do not speak french) ☺ I think we became reliant on the english language too much!

Pros: Les Forges is in a wonderful old farmhouse. We were told by the owner that the previous owners had a forge and did horseshoeing. The setting is pastoral and very serene. There are chairs in the garden to enjoy the amazing sunsets. One morning I woke up about 5 am to look out the window. The sky was filled with stars that seemed almost within reach. Beautiful! We were in the area to explore personal family history in a nearby village. The location was perfect. Lidia and Cristienne were gracious hosts, most helpful and yet respectful to allow guests space. There is a kitchen and dining area downstairs for guest use-- with microwave, confection oven, refigeratot, dishes, utensils, etc. We were able to go to a nearby town for groceries and cook several of our own dinners. Each morning Lidia had a lovely table ready when we came down with coffee, tea, juice, breads, pasteries, jams, yogurt. Lidia and Cristienne asked about our comfort each day, and were helpful in linking us to area persons regarding our family research. All of the people we met in Dompierre-les-eglise including the mayor's secretary and several area village people were so kind. The church in Dompierre-les-eglise is gorgeous with beautiful old painted sketches of the Stations of the Cross drawn directly on the stone walls Because our main purpose was ancestry-related, we stayed close by. But, we did have have dinner one evening in Bellac, and went to the Oradour-sur-Glane museum and Village of Martyrs. That is one of the most moving memorials we have ever seen. We had not known about it before and were so impressed at the efforts of the town and France to make sure the martyrs were not forgotten and that we should not let that happen again. People are fairly quiet as they walk through the streets of the destroyed town where things have been left as they were on June 10, 1944. I would highly recommend Les Forges and the Haute-Vienne area.

Pros: The manor is beautiful, its location in the yards gives a wonderful experience
