10.0 Excellent
Pros: It has been one of the best places I've ever been! The host Geneviève is adorable and very hospitable. We immediately felt at home and this was even before we saw our room. It really exceeded our expectations. Geneviève has decorated the place with her heart & soul (it's her profession as well ;-)) and we wandered around the place falling from one surprise into the other and eventually we fell in love with the house (and a little bit with Geneviève as well). Breakfast is a real treat, whatever you can think about for breakfast, Geneviève had it and most of it was home-made.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were fabulous and couldn’t do enough for you. The house and room were beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and available at the time you requested. The town was beautiful too.
Cons: Perhaps a curtain on the shower as staying as 2 couples in the same room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Geneviene, our hostess and property owner, was helpful and provided useful suggestions and tips on area sites. The hotel was selected by us for its central location to a number of major medieval villages and chateaus in the area. The hotel location is in the center of Penne d'Agenais, a quiet and quaint village, with public parking just at its doorstep. The room was clean, large, and tastefully decorated with the personal touches of the owner. Breakfast was generous with fresh breads, fruit and homemade yogurt and toppings. The hotel was a welcome and restful retreat after a day of touring.
Cons: The hotel and its location in the village is excellent. however, the village is quiet with minimal nightlife and a limited numbers of restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, beautiful decoration, exceptional service and care. Delicious breakfast in the morning. Lovely and comfortable outdoor courtyard for ready. Highly recommend.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous house, perfect host! The house is stunning with absolutely beautiful interiors and the host Genevieve could not have done more to make our stay fun, relaxed and memorable. We all - including our two young boys - loved her! Her breakfasts are the best I've ever had in France! Delicious homemade breads, jams, yoghurt - all beautifully served. The caramelised apples and chopped fresh pistachios were sublime! The village too is utterly charming - after 4 days we just didn't want to leave!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very stylish and charming maison owned by an equally stylish and charming host - Genevieve, who could not have been more welcoming or keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Her breakfasts were outstanding with home cooked produce e.g. brioche, conserves, cakes. She has excellent local knowledge and is happy to share it with you. I cannot praise her or her home too much. Everything was outstanding. We loved it. Go!
Cons: nothing, it was perfect.

Pros: The stuation was loveily. Very rural but a truely peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Our hosts were extremely hospitable, friendly and attentive to our needs. They were also, good fun and took interest in us. We were travelling with an elderly relative who was given lots of attention and enjoyed swimming in the beautiful pool.
Cons: Nothing really. Finding our way there was tricky as it is in a very rural situation, satt navs not picking up the address, so, we were a little stressed before we finally found it! The stress subsided very quickly!

Hosts very friendly, helped us with local restaurants and great breakfasts! Love their doggies and cats too!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are two absolutely fantastic people - the kind of people that make you feel nothing whatsoever is a problem. The property itself is a delightful place in an exceptionally peaceful environment. Really can’t recommend this place enough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner made us very welcome and the property was delightful. It was so peaceful in the countryside. We used the pool and had dinner in the garden. So lovely.
Cons: Nothing but you do need a car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Though there was a misunderstanding about whether there was a kitchen or not that was quickly resolved due to the kindness and generosity of our hostess Annie. Our rooms were a whole separate building with two floors. A large living room, bathroom and small coffee room with a fridge on the main floor with a huge bedroom and bath on the second. There was a lovely patio off the side entrance. Great pool area and we were lucky enough to be there in fruit season so there were plums, apples and pears. Our hostess Annie though she said she couldn’t speak English did an amazing job and way better than our French. She was helpful, thoughtful and made our stay so enjoyable.
Cons: Aside from the fact we were expecting a kitchen and there wasn’t one I can’t think of anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb hosts and a wonderful property and location. Excellent breakfast in a quiet, romantic, terrace setting... Have travelled extensively..Le Colombier is a gem...thank you!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcome and great hospitality throughout our two night stay. The accommodation is spacious and immaculate, with ample, secure parking and delightful breakfasts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had had a nightmare booking in a hotel which we left after one night. La Perriere was the perfect antidote - a lovely property with views over its lovely garden and beyond, in the countryside but only 15 minutes' drive from Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Our hosts are a joyous Dutch couple, equally fluent in English, French and German, and most welcoming - our first half-hour there was spent on their terrace, enjoying their company and their generous hospitality. The large bedroom overlooked the terrace, and the views beyond, and had a sofa, sideboard, and wardrobe, and an ensuite bath/shower room. Breakfasts were very generous, and our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and even gave us detailed recommendations of where to visit in the area, and restaurants in the town, which made our visit even better. Returning in the evening, we were able to sit out on the terrace under incredible starry skies. Their front garden also provided lots of parking for themselves and their guests. We would recommend this to anyone!
Cons: We felt that our stay was close to perfection, with two lovely people as our hosts, we have nothing to say against our stay, our hosts, or the area.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything in general. The hosts were wonderful, they really loved having us stay and so we did not feel we were intruding in their house. The breakfast was delicious and the addition of a freshly boiled egg was great.
Cons: The chambre d’hote was further than a walking distance from town and the roads were too busy if you wanted a long walk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Harry and Margo were very welcoming. The room was excellent—great facilities and super clean.Stayed for breakfast which was ample and very good. The view from our balcony was superb...10/10.
Cons: It was raining in the morning!!Not their fault!!!

Pros: Very clean. Linen and towels of very good quality . Felt cosy which is unusual in a castle . Very calm area. Beautiful park. Nice walk around. Fun colorful hotel with « kind of Disneyland deco ». Brings up child memories. Also try the restaurant. Good food. Everything is there to make you relax and enjoy. The receptionist Anita is great.
Cons: Some employees /staff

Pros: A small warning, it's a bit "off the wall" design wise, but it really pulls it off. Don't let the the photo's put you off and if you liked the photos you'll love your stay. The staff were all lovely people, so patient with my appalling french.
Cons: It was lovely.

Pros: Breakfast was great - home made yoghurt and home made jams with croissants and bread. Excellent location and extremely helpful and thoughtful owner with good recommendations for eating in the town and generally very helpful. Secure parking for our motorcycle too.
Cons: Shower head holding bracket would be better if it was adjustable and can be angled so that the shower can be directed to the correct position in the cubicle, but we found this type of fixed bracket is not unusual in hotels we have stayed in.

Pros: Lovely choice of foods at breakfast. Good coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit, and definitely won't be our last. We had the room with the small balcony, and it was absolutely lovely looking out over the river. It's such a peaceful and relaxing place, and Madame makes you very welcome. Excellent breakfast too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is stunning, overlooking the river Lot. The accommodation is rustic, quirky, spacious and spotlessly clean. There are only 2 bedrooms, so it wouldn’t be suitable for a large group/family, but it’s a very romantic setting for couples. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. She doesn’t speak much English, but it was easy enough to communicate with expressive gestures and simple French!
Cons: The breakfast could have been fresher. There was a good choice of products but the cereals, jams etc. had all seen better days.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, Great Hospitality
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Over our 2 stays, we occupied each of the 2 rooms. They were both clean and well appointed, with beautiful views overlooking the river. Guests also have the use of a large lounge with TV and a kitchen and dining room downstairs. The owner is charming and we were made to feel very welcome. I can highly recommend this place.
Cons: In my previous review, I was a little critical of the breakfast. On reflection, and following a second stay, I should report that the breakfast was very good - although I would have appreciated a second croissant!!

Pros: Just a one night stay in Villeneuve with an early start the next morning so we did not experience breakfast. Hotel was clean and comfortable, reception was friendly and the adjacent restaurant served magnificent duck.
Cons: We didn't think too much of Villeneuve. There were some nice historic buildings but we wouldn't plan to stop here again. If we did, we would use the Hotel des Remparts.

Pros: Very friendly host. Parking very easy, next to the hotel. We would return to the place.
Cons: Very hot and no airco. Not sure the croissants were fresh of the day.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Too early for breakfast at 7am, so can't comment. Looked nice though. The owner was fantastic, shook hands each time we met. Didn't speak English but we communicated, sort of. This was a budget trip and we didn't pay a lot for the room but it was worth every penny and more.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was good - easy to get to shops, restaurants, riverside walks etc. Staff nice - allowed me to check in a bit early which gave more sight seeing time. The restaurant next door was fine and had a varied locally based menu and there were many other choices nearby. The gentleman in charge provided a great space in his garage to lock up my motorcycle - BIG thanks.
Cons: My room was small and very hot. The ceiling fan did its best but really only moved the hot air around. There was a pop concert on a floating stage nearby which I thought would be noisy but in fact was OK.

Pros: The location. The breakfast. The parking was free from Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
Cons: Nothing.

Overview Reviews
Located in the heart of the South West, between Bordeaux and Toulouse, Le Moulin de Madame, an 18th-century mill, now houses a panoramic restaurant and a spa. There are also 30 charming rooms, spread throughout the 9 villas adjoining the mill. The majorit y of these rooms have either a garden or private terrace. There are also 2 seminar rooms. All this together with an unforgettable view of the River Lot.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Nice location. Very quiet. Rural.
Cons: Facilities were not in keeping with its 4 star rating. The continental breakfast was ok, the cooked option was poor. It was cold or at least barely warm. Acute shortage of staff on duty to deal with it. We were also charged for 5 breakfasts despite staying on a bed and breakfast basis. Apparently the room had been booked for one , despite 2 of us staying. This point was not picked up on registering. The coffee making facility was a joke. Only 2 creamers and coffee sachets per room per day. Asking for more was like trying to get blood out of a stone. Housekeeping were authorised to give us an extra 2 per day! The shower in the first room was over the bath with a wrap round curtain. Not a problem until you realise the taps and toiletries were on the outside, causing a flood when you used it. We were actually told that it wasn’t a shower. All in all a very poor experience, sadly in keeping with our previous experiences with Accor hotels. Never again would I use Accor Hotels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, spacious, overlooking river.
Cons: Not quite in town if that is important
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was beautifully furnished
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom was very well appointed- we had a fabulous view. The staff were discreet but helpful and bent over backwards to help us with any requirements.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant
Cons: What am amazing find. Beautiful location and the best restaurant. Thank you
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is set in a fabulous location overlooking the river, though a little tree trimming to thin the trees growing on the banks would help as the view of the river from the balcony of some rooms is nearly obscured. That said, we sat in the restaurant, in the old mill house right on the river eating our breakfast and twice saw Kingfishers, and also watched an Osprey catching it's own breakfast. Magic. The room, almost a suite, was excellent and the staggered balconies have been well designed to afford some privacy. We ate in the restaurant one evening, and the meal was very good and sensibly priced too. There is also a good curry restaurant in Villeneuve.
Cons: Just a couple of small niggles ( in room 302 ) , it was impossible to adjust the adjustable shower head as it wouldn't hold and simply slipped back down the riser . There is also an overhead shower head so this was not a particular problem, just something maintenance needs to look at. Likewise the basin plug mechanism was entirely disconnected so that pulling the plunger up did nothing. you had to push the plug down, which still didn't seal enough to hold water. You then had to pick at the plug with fingernails to be able to remove it. We informed reception, hopefully they should have sorted that out by now.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, peaceful location. The room was of a really good quality and very spacious.
Cons: Unfortunately the beautiful French cheese was served chilled, fresh from the refrigerator. Otherwise the meal was delicious.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, pleasant and kind. The lady who checked us out had been very helpful during our stay. We asked her a number of questions, she always went out of her way to give us the correct information. I would return to the hotel again, and I would recommend it to friends. It is nice to be greeted by people who show they are there to help you, they always had a welcoming smile.
Cons: 1 paper cup each, not acceptable for hot coffee/tea. I would prefer to see a porcelain cup and a spoon. We went out and bought cups and a spoon. The shower was slippery, I asked the cleaner if I could have Two bath mats, one for in the shower and one for the floor. The young lady was very understanding and pleasant, she brought them for me right away. It would be nice to have an English language channel on the TV something like France 24. The 5 channels on the TV were mainly cartoons, I did not see any children in the hotel. I had reserved for our grandson but he did not come with us because he was ill.

Pros: Clean and efficient
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The 1st floor which consisted of a beautiful large bedroom with exposed old beams, a further lovely bedroom (which we did not use) and a separate toilet and basin. The garden was very secure for our small dog who was welcomed and enjoyed her freedom.
Cons: The ground floor was dark, dated and dangerous. This open area consisted of a lounge, kitchen and separate bathroom. Outside of this area was a old conservatory which prevented daylight into the room making it very dark. The kitchen area was tiny and had a sink, a fridge/freezer, a microwave and a gas camping cooking hob (no oven)all within a space of approx 5 square metres. All of these appliances were extremely old and needed replacing. The bathroom was adjacent to the kitchen area and although it functioned reasonably well, like the kitchen was in need of updating. The staircase was very dangerous with small different levels at the top of both flights of stairs. The entrance door had a similar problem and needed highlighting to show the step up into the dark lounge area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Perfectly comfortable but a little dated. This is a homely place with some genuine French quirkiness! Please don't get me wrong, the host was extremely pleasant and the house more than comfortable, clean and tidy, but a modern, newly refurbished apartment this is not.
Cons: The kitchen was a little lacking, there was a hob and microwave with a small grill but no dedicated oven. Not a deal breaker but this may be inconvenient if you're hoping to cook. No air conditioning was a bit of a struggle for us and the gite is generally lacking natural light.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely people. A good place to meet French people in their environment.
Cons: One bedroom was off of the other one.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly reception. Refurbished nicely, very clean and comfortable. Huge bathroom and great shower. Nice breakfast.
Cons: As to be expected given location a bit noisy from traffic but not too bad but our bedroom door banged when someone used side entrance which was a bit annoying
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location good, in the centre of town. Price reasonable.
Cons: Unfortunate timing for me because the complete hotel was being refurbished inside and out. Also, the hotel is locked most of the day with nobody on reception which only opens between 4.30 and 8pm.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave us advice on where to park locally. But we were surprised to be asked to pay for our whole stay, including breakfasts, in advance - in fact, before we even saw the room. There are a few restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk and we were happy with the one we chose.
Cons: The hotel is at a junction of a major road. An older building, the stairs are tricky to manage with luggage (no lift or help available). The room was clean, with a small plastic 'pod' containing shower, toilet and washbasin in the corner. It was hot during our stay and with no aircon, we had the window open. We heard traffic noise during the night but, particularly, were woken early by the loud noises of large lorries outside, including refuse collection and/or street cleaning. Clearly not the fault of the hotel but we decided not to stay beyond the first night. The staff refused to even discuss the possibility of any refund and have continued to do so. The breakfast room was very small, as was the very basic breakfast..
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money. Friendly staff
Cons: All good
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely room with large ensuite bathroom. Modern decor. Comfortable beds.
Cons: Check in time was inflexible. As we were at a family wedding at the times given, we requested to collect the key slightly earlier or later but were told we could not do so. As a result, we missed 1.5 hours of the wedding (wedding breakfast & speeches) which was very disappointing.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The Huguets is located in a lovely high place in a forest with a lovely view. They have a pool so I gues in the summer people can enjoy it too. The onwers are very simpatics . If you have a car, it is a far better choice from any hotel Villeneuve sur lot can offer.
Cons: I would like my room to be cleaned and tide up and the towels to be change , I don’t know maybe this hotel doesn’t do it, I didn’t see it written. For us, not a young couple it was not enough light in the room, and we missed a small table to be able to sit and write. I also would like to have something fresh for breakfast , like fruits or vegetables.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the location was wonderful, the people were lovely and the peace and quiet
Cons: we did not have a plug in the wash basin.

Pros: Having to think hard - OK, the location was convenient.
Cons: The restaurant wasn't open ! On a Friday night ! For a party of 12 ! Who had booked more than 6 months previously ! And the reception staff were unable to arrange any taxis to take us into town so we had a 2km walk each way.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find close to main road, Typical Campanile, staff always have a smile and are always helpful. Breakfasts are always good. I needed a ground floor room and they gave me one
Cons: Sorry, but I find the evening meal in the restaurant a tad expensive for what is on offer.
