Pros: The whole package. The hostess and husband were lovely - quietly very polite, professional, and charming. The privacy and tranquility of the locality. The garden and furniture wAs a lovely area to sit out in and arriving earlier than many chambre d'hotes allow made it such a relaxing afternoon before the next day's long drive. The size of the room and the excellent little shower room along a little prvate corridor so nice a change from ensuite. The breakfast all homemade was exceptional. All perfect what a great place to stop for rest and relaxation en route south from St Malo.
Pros: The owner disponibility, we arrived after 23 pm. Breakfest at 6.30
Cons: The parking place need to be improve. As it was very rainy, all were mudy
Pros: The owners were very welcoming. Great continental breakfast with home made bread, jams and cake

Pros: very nice B&B with very friendly service. Perfect nice quite place for people who are looking for something different
Pros: The garden was astonishing the friendly couple whom run the place and that prepared me an amazing dinner and with whom I had an incredible time they were simply the nicer kinder persons ever. I truly suggest to go to Chez Brown!
Pros: Friendly owner and good breakfast included
Cons: A bit remote from village. Parking is a bit scarce and hard to locate without help.
Pros: THE PERFECTION of comfort - Feeling coming home. You come as a guest-you go as a friend:) Everything is done with love and out of love and from first till last second its the high quality this wonderful couple gives you a treat like you can't get in a 6star palace (including the fabulous room, garden, house, food etc). Thanks for the hospitality, deep talks and nourishing time.
Cons: That we stayed only one night:(
Pros: Perfection all round.
Pros: Wonderful, courteous, and sensitive to our needs host! Tasty dinner; the owner/host was the chef. Very comfortable bedroom, sitting area and outdoor seating with a beautiful flower garden! A+ in all areas.
Cons: Can’t think of a thing.
Pros: Friendliness of the host and hostess
Pros: Noel and Lindsey have created a very warm and welcoming atmosphere where you can relax and feel at home. They are extremely accommodating hosts with lovely breakfasts and comfortable rooms. We'll be back!
Located in Saint-Fort-sur-Gironde, Château des Salles is in a rural location, a 2-minute drive from Church of San Fortunato and 7 minutes from Gironde Estuary. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely old house, well restored
Cons: Short of electrical sockets, like all chateaux
Pros: The chateau has an old world charm and the room was very clean and comfortable. Sadly, this is more or less all we enjoyed about our stay here.
Cons: We think that the human candor and welcoming spirit we encountered during our trip through Bordeaux was completely absent at the Chateau de Salles. We don’t deny the fact that Sylvie might be a charming person and host, however she kept this qualities hidden from us. We felt rather like in a boarding school run by an uptight headmaster, than as valued guests in a nice hotel. The room and property, although lovely, did not make up for the cold welcome we received. Therefore, to all those traveling in the area, we recommend the Chateau la Rose Perrière, where Pierre is a lovely host, the rooms are amazing and the grounds absolutely fabulous. Here you can also enjoy a bottle of wine from theirs own vineyard at no additional cost. Or, for the old world enthusiasts we recommend Chateau de Pernan in Avy. Here, you can have the unique experience of staying in a medieval tour and the hosts are a very lovely couple. All in all, we were expecting more from this hotel and hosts, but this might also be because the other hosts along our route have set the bar so high.
Pros: Comfortable airy room. Dinner was superb, very good breakfast. The owner was charming and very helpful.
Pros: Nice location in amongst the local vineyards. The owner of the property was delightful and spoke superb English. The history of the property was very interesting and the building has been superbly renovated. The Continental breakfast was lovely. We will visit again.
Cons: Nothing for us
Pros: Excellent evening meal and breakfast
Pros: Beautiful, well restored chateau. Interesting grounds, with vines etc. Delicious cooking, dinner and breakfast both extremely good. Host and hostess charming and knowledgeable.
Cons: A small fridge in the room to keep water cold would be nice.
With a stay at Hôtel Moulin de Val de Seugne in Mosnac, you'll be on a river, within a 15-minute drive of Les Antilles de Jonzac and Chateau de Plassac. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel is in a lovely location on the river. We had a wonderful large well appointed room on the river. The room had a small deck with a a table and chairs allowing relaxation sitting outside enjoying the flow of the river and the menagerie of animals that roam the opposite bank and woodlands. The receptionist and also waitress was welcoming, friendly and efficient as was the head waiter in the restaurant where we had a delicious evening meal.
Cons: The hotel policy requesting guests refrain from bringing their own food and drink for use in their room. I appreciate that food would be unacceptable but when you are in a wonderful wine region of France having your own bottle of wine (or other refreshment) to enjoy while on your small deck over looking the river without paying hotel prices for their selection of wines seems a little O.T.T.
Pros: The setting of this hotel is lovely if you enjoy peace & quiet. Watching the animals & birds from a balcony is a pleasure. The meal in the restaurant was extremely good & the staff very pleasant.
Cons: Nothing really. We have stayed a few times & have always enjoyed it.
Pros: Location size of room
Cons: Price no robes in room and food prices extortionate
Pros: Lovely staff and the surroundings are beautiful! Very good dinner!
Cons: Beds were not comfortabel.
Pros: We liked the room with balcony looking onto a small island where the wild animals were roaming around. Very pretty Mill Hotel. The room was comfortable.
Cons: The location was extremely difficult to find and more directions were needed as when you were there it was still quite hidden. Restaurant service was poor and we had to ask for bread and butter at dinner after sitting for half an hour. Staff were poorly trained and running around without being efficient. Food was very disappointing and lobster dish could hardly be recognised and didn't taste of anything.
Pros: Fabulous. Just stayed for a nice as a break to just relax and unwind. Location was great. Just switched off !
Pros: Beautiful view over the river from our room, wonderful and warm people went out of their way to help us and make us comfortable. We initially planned to stay one night but loved the place and extended our stay :) Michelin restaurant in the property -excellent combination of a perfect hotel and perfect restaurant. Would love to come back :)
Pros: Charming location, well equipped bathroom. Breakfast good and included a choice of cooked to order items.
Cons: Bedside lighting poor. Bird feathers on terrace and in room. Lack of atmosphere in restaurant in the evening- bright lights and inappropriate music, expensive dinner compared with others we had eat recently. Breakfast coffee not very good flavour, luke warm and served in a teapot which didn’t pour well.
Located in Saint-Thomas-de-Conac, Domaine de l'estuaire is within a 15-minute drive of Church of San Fortunato and Vitrezay Nature Center. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, a library, and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Fruit from the garden was delicious. Homemade cake and bread. Gorgeous coffee. Beautiful building. We arrived late and the local restaurants were all closed so they made us up a lovely snack/supper. The room was huge and really comfortable.
Pros: The house is a charming old village ¨Manse" nicely restored & decorated. A mixture of the old and modern. They were very welcoming and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Best of all was the unexpected pleasure of their dinner as we arrived on a Monday, when everything was closed in the area. Lovely vegetarian dinner with their home grown tomatoes and courgettes. They also make their own delicious yoghurt. We love this sort of thing (slightly fed up with too much meat on our travels) so this was most welcome. The breakfast was also perfect for us. Home made bread & yoghurt, also their own jams. Plus lots of other choices. They are also clearly animal & dog lovers, so this was great for us. Their enchanted walled garden provides a safe run for dogs & walks in the countryside are not too tricky. We will come again.
Cons: Hate french pillows! Alternative would be welcome! If they have many UK visitors I would suggest kettle & tea etc for morning tea (its a national habit) Starts the morning with a smile.
Pros: Welcoming atmosphere with a nice host couple. Beautiful house and garden, where cold drinks were served. Our dog could walk freely in their garden. The host we kind to book a restaurant for us in the village within walking distance.
Pros: Newly and very tasteful renovated property. Everything was clean. The hosts were very helpful and provided us a nice dinner with great wine. To bad the weather was not nice to discover the nice garden and area. Breakfast was homemade or fresh from the area. We really enjoyed our stay at this fantastic place. Thank you for everything
Pros: The house is beautiful and our room was very comfortable. The owner was friendly and very helpful. We were served a simple, but very tasty, three course dinner with excellent local wine. The breakfast was the best we have had in France so far.
Cons: Loved everything
Pros: Beautiful house in the countryside, furnished with taste. No restaurant around so either eat before arriving or sign up in advance for the dinner prepared by the owners. You will receive delicious vegetarian dishes from the garden.
Pros: This was a charming stay in a beautiful old house. We had a lovely big room which was also available for people who have limited mobility. The nearby village had a great bar and pizza van on the day we were there. It was a lovely breakfast too.
Pros: Comfortable room Friendly hosts Fabulous home made breakfast
Cons: It's very quiet

Pros: Friendly welcome. Big garden. Lovely breakfast with homemade jams
Pros: Clean room, comfy bed and new bathroom. Very friendly hosts. Great value for money. Might come back for some days another time, to see the nearby villages and do some hiking in the surrounding hills :-).
Pros: Very comfortable bed. Very quiet and relaxing place. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We could use de swimming pool. Good restaurants with views near the house.
Pros: Nice little cottage style accommodation , perfect if one wished to stay longer than one night and take advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Excellent coffee at breakfast, and fresh berries from the beautiful garden, very peaceful and relaxing place.
Cons: Nothing to complain about. Would have appreciated a little cheese for breakfast, just to have something salty to counterbalance the abundance of sweet offerings.
Pros: Lovely hosts. Couldn't do enough for us including helping my husband to fix a punctureearly in the morning
Pros: Great homemade breakfast, beautiful garden, grounds
Cons: No place to put suitcases,
Pros: We liked the region very much. Our hosts were helpful and hospitable. The guests could enjoy the garden and the swimming pool. Facility inside of the apartment was basic but we got everything that was advertised and required for a short relaxing stop. I would recommend for families.
With a stay at Château de Mirambeau in Mirambeau, you'll be 7.3 mi (11.7 km) from Chateau de Plassac and 10.8 mi (17.4 km) from Les Antilles de Jonzac. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: This chateau has great potential but it is in a town/area that is clearly declining. The approach to the chateau makes you feel like it is right next to the sad town rather than approaching it down the longer drive (that gate was closed). The staff was ok but not particularly friendly or warm and service in the restaurant needs some work for a restaurant of that quality as it seemed rushed. The food was delicious and the dining area was lovely.
Cons: The rooms were in the newer wing and felt a bit impersonal. The lighting was harsh and overly bright. One of the rooms had a shower were dirty water backed up into it.
Pros: Beautiful building and grounds
Cons: The beds were hard and awful pillows ! The price was expensive for what it was The breakfast was not very exciting Lacked ambience and the clientele were rather old and it was a bit stuffy!
Pros: it was perfect for us, we felt very welcome
Cons: our room overlooked the swimming pool which happened to have a very noisy family using it all day with lots of energy!!
Pros: The Chateaux is outstanding. The interior and exterior is absolutely beautiful. It's very clean and well maintained and kept. The staff is attentive towards their guests and go above and beyond to meet their needs. The gourmet dinners were delicious and breakfast buffet was great.
Pros: The view from our room was amazing. Staff were attentive and helpfull, we never had to wait long for any services requested.
Cons: It felt as if the cheapest room advertised was only there to entice you to book the hotel. The room we originally book had a nice view, but the size of the room.....let’s just say it was the smallest hotel room I’ve ever been in. We paid extra for a more suitable room which was a worth it for us, but our daughter didn’t like her JR suite. The flood light out side her window kept her up and her room was too hot for her liking. The windows did not have black out curtain. The bed was also too hard for her. We paid to up grad her room too, but she said she was more comfortable in the little room we originally booked. Maybe the smaller room is good for 1 person, but if you’re traveling as a couple...at the very minimum you’ll need to book a JR suite
Pros: Beautiful building, lovely grounds, lovely staff. Comfortable luxury
Cons: Choices on dinner menu limited. Continental breakfast very expensive for a basic breakfast
Pros: Wonderful chateau. Beautiful rooms.
Cons: Location was a bit off - middle of the way between Bordeaux and Cognac. Breakfast could improve.
Pros: The chateau is in a lovely spot with extensive gardens. Our bedrooms were very pretty, beautifully decorated and furnished with very comfortable beds The staff could not have been more helpful or attentive.
Cons: To be honest I think breakfast could have been slightly improved with more choice of fresh or stewed fruit etc - quite expensive at €25 before one thought of having anything hot
Located in Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge, Relais de Saintonge is in a rural location, a 3-minute drive from Chateau de Plassac and 7 minutes from Church of Saint-Palais-de-Phiolin. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Strange room, reception a bit icy, possibly because my French is not up to much, but in its favour lovely hot shower and super comfortable bed!!
Pros: The story of this place, firstly as a coaching inn then as an early petrol station and now a relais for lorry drivers is fascinating. The perfect place to watch France get to the world cup final!! Great value truckers menu (although you can use their restaurant if you want a more up market meal). Great staff.
Cons: Rooms on the front of the hotel are a little noisy when the weather means you have the window open. This would not be the case in cooler weather.
Pros: Room and food good but....poor welcome and not particularly friendly staff
Cons: My wife ordered duck for dinner, was served veal, which the waitress insisted was duck. Transubstantiation taken to a new level! Was initially given a room with shower but no toilet. We had booked ensuite.
Pros: Great staff good food
Cons: Noisey at night due to proximity to main road.

Provided with free WiFi, the rooms have a simple décor and include a private bathroom with bath or shower. The superior rooms feature a four-poster bed and a small seating area. Jonzac Train Station is 31 km away while Cognac Airport is 1 hour away by car. Free private parking is possible on site.
Pros: The highlight of the place is the owner, who is really nice. The breakfast did not include savouries other than fried eggs, but he gave us four per person! Plus lots of fresh bread and sweet pastries, and yogurt. It is not a buffet.
Cons: The bathroom was very dated and badly ventilated. The walls are very thin so it feels like your have the people next door inside your room. It is all very basic and the only comodities available are the free wifi and parking. We travelled on a Sunday, the restaurant was closed and there was no terrace as per the pictures. The only place to eat is a pizzeria in the next village. The rooms seem to be very variable and ours was a bit of a mix and match and obvious sections of basic DIY. The photos in the website do not reflect at all what we had.
Pros: Parking right next to hotel
Cons: Only one of our rooms had a fan and it would have been great to have mosquito nets.
Pros: Spacious room. Very nice breakfast with bread, crossaints, yogurt and juice. Nice staff
Cons: Our mattress was very hard, which not everyone likes. Street was very busy, which you heard in the early morning
Pros: Staff was great!! Well the one guy can’t remember his name.. so friendly and helpful!
Cons: Some rooms are newer then others
Pros: The owner was extremely generous. He was an absolute treat and went out of his way to help his guests! Great breakfast and again the owner was very attentive and made sure you had enough of everything! Absolutely wonderful experience.
Cons: Rooms could do with modernisation but this is clearly underway.
