Pros: Great location, peaceful and quiet. Romain and Clementine are excellent hosts, we had a wonderful evening meal, all locally sourced and beautifully prepared by Clementine. Our room was large and comfortable, and breakfast was first class. Romain showed us a spectacular scenic route to take when we left. We very much look forward to returning one day.
Cons: We could not fault anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Romain and Clementine are very attentive to their guest's needs and make sure that everything is there for them to relax and enjoy. They now have a full course dinner which Clementine prepares with fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs from their garden and everything was delicious. We enjoyed our stay very much.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely charming Young couple. They were taking great care of us.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hosts Clementine and Roman were both extremely helpful, engaging, knowledgeable, helpful, hard working and superb cooks. My Wife could only eat Gluten free food. This was no problem and they went the extra mile to make sure she was catered for. I stayed here a few years ago and was returning as we liked it then. It is now under new ownership with Clementine and Roman who have raised the bar even higher and made it an even better experience. 10/10
Cons: I wish I stayed here for the entire length of our holiday instead of staying elsewhere for 2 of the nights. We had to leave as we had pre paid the next destination. There was nothing not to like. We found it faultless.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and accommodating hosts. They provided a portable air conditioner as our room faced west.
Cons: Nothing was bad. But you have to come to Vercors region with a purpose like cycling or walking

Pros: After a long trip with my motorbike I needed a nice rest. This is the right place. Very nice place. Rooms very well cleaned and toilet as well. Romain and his wife are young and lovely ready to satisfy as much as request they can. They also opened their box for my motorbike. Good dinner served and great position to visit Combe Laval. It’s a pity that I stayed only one night! I will visit you again next year! Thank you guys!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb guesthouse run by a lovely young couple with delightful children. Nothing was too much trouble and Clementine is a great cook so the optional evening meals, accompanied by plentiful wine and beer, are a must. Excellent location for exploring the Vercors and situated just outside St Jean en Royans which is perhaps the best centre in the area.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Nice rooms and terrace
Cons: Bit expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, peaceful and charming and such an excellent host and hostess.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the river (but fenced off from it) the accommodation is in a lovely location and the room was comfortable and clean. Each room has its own outside entrance so you can come and go without disturbing anyone else. The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to look after us, even finding some black tea for me when we arrived. Even though we had not booked dinner they offered to provide a meal if we needed it. Breakfast was good and plentiful, too. The local town of Pont en Royan is well worth a visit and if you like driving, many of the roads in the area are spectacular.
Cons: Being built into the hillside and having a covered patio outside the door, the room was a little dark. However, this arrangement would be a bonus when the weather is very hot as I guess the room would stay cool.

Pros: warm welcome by the hosts, always ready to help

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel exceeded our expectations: very friendly and efficient staff, excellent value for money. A stunning view of the mountains from our bedroom, hearty and wholesome food. We will come back!!
Cons: This is a minor issue, but when you took a shower the water in the shower room/wet room flooded the rest of the bathroom and soaked the bath mat.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for a weekend escape in the mountains
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room with a balcony on the 2nd floor had a fantastic view of the mountains and over the valley towards the Drome. Marie and Giovanni are excellent hosts - very welcoming, giving us helpful information on the area. The meals, prepared by Giovanni, were delicious with the mix of Sicilian and local specialities like the "ravioles". The hotel is well situated to explore the region.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Both owners were so friendly and helpful, and Agnes particularly was great at giving us ideas about what to do and where to go. She also used Google translate to great effect! And her breakfasts were wonderful, tasty and fresh!
Cons: Only the fact that the toilet was separate from the bedroom so in the middle of the night you had to tiptoe out quietly! But this was a minor point.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location for our motorcycle trip around the balcony roads. The welcome , all the facilities, our hosts. Tres Bien
Cons: No negatives at all most excellent

Pros: Our room was very nice- large and overlooked the warm, good sized pool. Lovely, varied breakfast with homemade jams - taken outside or inside. Very nice dinner, if you required, also taken inside or outside. Lovely pool area and setting. Very friendly, helpful couple.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a nice simple country auberge, close to two motorways surrounded by pleasant countryside and run by a very nice husband and wife team. We stopped en-route to the South and there is plenty of secure parking. In fact I wish we had had more time to explore the countryside. The food is good, local, cuisine served on an nice veranda. It's not a luxury establishment but I prefer this to faceless roadside motels.
Cons: The viaduct is close by and the trains make a little noise. The room was spacious but not luxurious and it might be a bit warm in the summer but there are plenty of windows.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: excellent food, excellent service, top service is well and very pro , the details in everything , restaurant is superb

Cons: No complaints whatsoever
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Location was stunning. Amazing views with the entrance of Combe Laval only meters away. The Owners Daughter Airianne (not sure if that is the right spelling) was extremely helpful, warm and engaging. Airianne did her utmost to help with interpreting and recommending places to see and do. Room was lovely and clean with amazing views.
Cons: The Manageress's immediate frustration on arrival at us not being able to speak French. My wife can only eat Gluten Free. We were offered breakfast only to be told everything contained Gluten. My wife can only eat Gluten Free. We were offered dinner only to be told dinner would only be a salad. We tried to ring the hotel but we could not converse as the owners did not speak any English.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very quiet environment, loved it. My compliments to the chef regarding the menu!
Cons: Nothing really...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location at the summit of the col de la Machine in the Vercors. It has been in the same family for six generations and is a lovely mountain hotel. The staff were all friendly and efficient. Our room was a good size with two comfortable twin beds and a view down the Combe Laval. Bathroom with good shower. The wifi was reliable and a reasonable speed. There is a bar and a restaurant attached to the hotel. You will need to eat at the hotel unless you want a night time drive up the col de la Machine from St Jean en Royans. The food was good and wine was a reasonable price. The breakfast was the usual price for French hotels but with a good choice.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location on top of the col right by Combe Laval. The weather was hot in July and an outdoor pool was available. Great food in the restaurant. The staff were helpful and friendly. An early breakfast was made available.
Cons: Not really a complaint but the hotel is quite remote and therefore very quiet with no wi-fi and poor phone and TV reception. The room and bathroom were quite compact had no aircon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, lovely people, very helpful in advising on walks. Suggest that menus could change a little more and use more vegetables but dinners were excellent as were the breakfasts. Lots of very good things. We loved the place and will happily return And all the other guests were friendly and chatty as well
Cons: A little more of a changing menu, but it is France ! And more use of vegetables but again, old France but this in a modern way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely mountain retreat. Beautifully decorated. Staff were super friendly.

Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: location close to the river restaurant views restaurant quality-price bath renoveated
Cons: room size breakfast with more options
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We got a warm welcome and a safe place to store our bike. Staying at the hotel gets you free entrance to the Water Museum! Bathroom was excellent. Restaurant was friendly, and, after a little mix up over our order, we were looked after very well. Buffet breakfast was very good.
Cons: The room felt sterile - like it used to be an institution - nothing to directly complain about, but it almost felt like we were in hospital or a boarding school - totally lacking in atmosphere. If you don't get free entry to the water museum, I wouldn't bother paying for it!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are small and very clean.
Cons: The mist fountain right in front of the Terrace...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a basic hotel in a great location. We had a view from our room of a waterfall and the “hanging houses” over the river. The walk in shower was good and the hotel had a lift. The restaurant attached to the hotel served a good evening meal. Parking was conveniently located right outside the hotel.
Cons: The twin beds (with small doonas) were not very comfortable. There was no kettle or tea making facilities in our room. The bath towels were small.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere of town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The amazing setting and the value for Money
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, right by the river/gorge, the room was a good size, bathroom was freshly refurbished and modern, parking for our motorcycle was within the hotel courtyard so pretty secure, the attached restaurant served excellent food, had views over the river and was staffed by friendly people, as was the hotel itself. Free access to the adjacent Water Museum was a bonus but unfortunately we arrived too late to take advantage and needed to leave too early the following morning. The hotel would be a good base to spend more time and explore the local area, on this occasion we were just passing thro'.
Cons: Our room, tho' spacious was a little on the stark side and very simply furnished - I would perhaps have expected more for the price paid but it is in a prime location so I suppose that justifies the price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location on the river near a swimming hole during very hot weather. Also a pleasant village with a variety of eating options. Food in the restaurant was local fare and came in ample amounts.Plenty to do in the region if you have a vehicle. Walks are possible from the hotel to the next village up valley and to the caves. Room was adequate and air conditioning appreciated.
Cons: Internet connection was variable. No hot water for showers one evening. Missed having a kettle and bar fridge for cold drinks

7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, evening meal was very good as was the breakfast. Secure parking and a central location in the town. Good for access to the Vercors and Combe Laval.
Cons: The building is rather tired and in need of some maintenance. Our room was comfy enough but quite basic and why no chairs for the balcony?
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Not staying longer !

6.3 Good
Pros: Restaurant and central location in Saint Jean. Bread at breakfast excellent. Staff in the restaurant were excellent in the evening.
Cons: Lack of chairs on balcony. Breakfast room small and as a consequence can be crowded and struggled to keep up with demand. Pictures in booking.com advertising did not show the front view of the hotel and as a consequence did not show its central location in a busy town.

6.3 Good
Pros: We stayed 5 nights in July/August 2018 and booked pretty last minute (only 2 to 3 weeks upfront which is short term for the busy summer season) so this one was the only hotel left that had availability. Let me start by writing down the positive things: 1) The location near the river: stunning, that goes without any doubt; 2) The pool which was a welcome refreshment during the very hot Summer days; 3) The size of the room and bathroom: very spacious; 4) The bed is hard but pretty good. Now the downsides: 1) There's no airco in the room, we were literally melting. The only thing we had was a ventilator (which uses the same hot air that is already in the room). The room was on the third floor (no elevator so don't even consider this hotel if you're not fit) right under the roof so it felt like being in a boiling pan. 2) Despite TA saying there's free parking, their own parking is NOT free. It is secured but it comes at 5 EUR/night. Even on booking.com it's misleading cause I read it as a 5 EUR one-off fee. When I made a remark about it upon check-out, the owner just replied "well, it's 5 EUR PER night." They should correct it on TA and on booking.com in order not to mislead people. There is a free public parking at 5 min walk from the hotel (not handy if you have to drag your luggage though.) 3) There is no wifi on the third floor. Actually, my iPhone could not detect wifi coverage in any of their places. There is a free desktop available at the reception but my point is that they shouldn't claim that there is wifi when there isn't. 4) We definitely missed a fridge/minibar in the room. We couldn't even keep our bottles of water to a reasonable temperature for drinking (and 23 degrees Celsius would still have been reasonable for me.
Cons: Gebrek aan koelkastje, airco, wifi, goed restaurant, ... Zie Engelse review.
7.0 Good
Pros: Owner friendly, perfect position, good breakfast, evening meal was good.
Cons: Single beds, shower curtain, little blue light shining on tv module.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a traditional French stay - slightly quirky and we loved our stay. We liked the pool (real bonus after hot drive), great restaurant and good breakfast. There was a large veranda on the first floor overlooking the river which was a find. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed walking into the town along the river.
Cons: We had the cheaper room on the top floor which faced the road rather than the river ... bit hot and noisy at times but you get what you pay for ... I'm sure the ones overlooking the river would be better. We liked the pool but it would benefit from a bit of a tidy up as broken furniture still round the pool.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quirkiness and location
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, roomy room and a swimming pool to cool of in
