excellent welcome and friendly staff who could not have done more to help us. Excellent!
the room was large, well appointed and comfortable. it is in a very quite town, even though it is on the main road. The swimming pool looked lovely the restaurent is lovely, the food excellent, but it is an expensive place to eat - not quite right if you only want a simple French meal
The staff were extremely friendly and the menu in the restaurant absolutely excellent. The set menu was a delight and good value for the high quality of the food served. I was travelling with my 8 year old daughter, and the food served to her was in her words "the best" that she had eaten as a children's menu during our entire stay in France. The atmosphere at the hotel was romantic with lots of couples staying there. The rooms were a little overpriced I thought, given what is available elsewhere in the Loire.
Very nice to have small patio. Food was excellent.
The hotel has been renovated from an old horse changing station, where travelers would have changed horses or spent the night. We like that you can still imagine that past within the hotel; it isn't hidden and it adds charm and character. Everything was clean, the rooms seem to be named after Loire chateaux (we were in the Amboise room, which was beautiful), the staff were absolutely wonderful and very attentive. We had the breakfast buffet, which we thought was very good: ham, choice of cheeses, yogurt, fruit (fresh and dried), croissants and baguette as well as assorted pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, coffee with warmed milk, juice...all plentiful and delicious. We would happily stay here again; it is a good base for exploring the area with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Plus it is literally a 5 minute walk to the Azay-le-Rideau chateau, which is not to be missed. We felt welcomed and very comfortable here. Recommended!
Everything I expected from the website: a very impressive building, delightful grounds, very attentive staff, a comfortable room and an excellent restaurant. None
The Domaine was a beautifully situated chateau with large, comfortable rooms, a great restaurant and very friendly staff who provided great service. Only quibble is that breakfast was quite overpriced.
Excellant restaurant Over priced compared with other accomodation in the Loire.
The location. the building. the breakfast. the staff. the fires the view No kettle in the room to make tea and coffee. Hairdryer not strong enough
# Restaurant excellent - menu, quality, staff and service. # Hotel staff pleasant and helpful. # Convenient location for exploring the Loire Valley region, close - by car - to Tours, airport, train station, main chateaux etc. # Limited drinks range in hotel bar. # Lack of atmosphere and facilities meant an evening in the hotel/bar not a realistic alternative to travelling to town (which requires driving) # Lack of full room service facility. # Rooms (in outbuilding), while clean are somewhat tired and in need of overhaul and updating # Insufficient car parking spaces meant footpaths and public areas were full with parked cars.
Peace, calm, lovely staff, location, and beauty of chateau and gardrns Food
The unusual accommodation, the ambiance, the restaurant, and the beautiful crocuses flowering in the hotel grounds. the quality of the shower in our room.
Fabulous experience. The staff were so helpful & friendly. The bedroom decor and fitting are of a high quality. The food in the restraunt was firs class as ws the service Shower screen was not ideal - got the floor wet, but tha was it!
It was like stepping into a romance novel. The room and the view of the Loire Valley was superb! The cuisine was some of the most enjoyable "gastronomique" that we have tasted. Coming during late September we got a glimpse of the fall foliage. Outstanding! Easy access to all the other chateaux of note. We are eager to return.
Great location We were charged extra for parking in the hotel car park and were not told until we paid at the end.
Convenient location to visit local castles. Sweet little town.Staff helpful, but spoke little English.
Centrally located with free parking. A 5 minute walk to the Chateau, cafe's restaurants etc. Good wifi connection and comfortable room. Breakfast was OK but a little overpriced.
Close to town centre, but immediate surroundings disappointing. Noise from toilets being used in adjoining rooms along with the noise of guests arriving and leaving the hotel resulted in a sleepless night.
The location was excellent. It was within walking distance of the chateau and there were plenty of places to eat dinner. Room had an odor, walls paper thin and we could clearly hear the people in the next room and across the hall. Bed very short.
It was not so big hotel so there was no elevator. It was hard to bring up heavy luggage to second floor.
Convenient location for local sights Aircon not working for some time in my opinion
The location is fine close to the centre of the charming village of Azay le Rideau. There are some excellent restaurantes to eat at within a short walk and beautiful scenery along the Loire valley a half hour cycle ride away. Hotel staff were friendly and met all our requests promptly. free wi fi a bonus. The rooms are rather small ( though clean ) and we had to ask for facilities to make a hot drink. Rooms at the front of the hotel are pleasant with the balcony but are subject to traffic noise from before 7 am (particularly those irritating mopeds) a problem made worse by the location of the hotel on the main road out of town. Breakfast is 11 euros per person - perhaps to discourage.
Friendly helpful staff and lovely breakfast including some home baked cakes. Our room was pretty small
The hotel has beautiful public areas that can be viewed by all. The staff are extremely friendly and charming. The restaurant did not meet my levels of expectation; I did not feel that I got value for money and the atmosphere was strained. The degustation in the cellar was an extreme disappointment- 3 tastes of mediocre local wine that was limited to still white and did not reflect the area's potential.
The room and grounds were beautiful With a few notable exceptions the staff was unfriendly to the point of rudeness. They would ignore you when you came in, never smile, and were outright rude if you asked a question that made them actually work. I asked for a receipt showing that I paid at the end rather than one showing an outstanding balance and they refused!!
Lovely location Excellent restaurant great breakfast good helpful staff Pillows could be better
Services at the restaurant as well as at the bar were disappointing. The bar was too noisy for such an "expected" atmosphere.
I thought your Chateau was gorgeous and well manicured I thought your breakfast buffet was lacking with only one hot item--eggs and the selection of pastries was fair, no availability to order from a menu. In addition, we ordered room serice of pasta and salad. The pasta portion was very soft and inedible. Because of this room service we chose to not eat dinner at the chateau.
A beautiful chateau in a beautiful location. Nothing
The room was lovely, with fantastic views. The staff were superb and dinner amazing.
Lovely location and building. Room was finewith a large, comfortable bed. The food was well cooked and nicely presented. The practice now in France (but not in Paris) whereby one has to order desert at the start of a meal.
Beautiful chateau/rooms/space/countryside and quiet. Excellent food.Professionally managed. It took over 1/2 hour to get our wine opened even whilst our 1st course meal was served on the table. The sommelier ignored us deliberately whilst he bigmouthed/chatted about himself to other tables with the focus on him not customer service. We were very upset by this attitude.
Decor was attractive, staff helpful, setting nice. I thought dinner in the restaurant was a little over priced, considering that we were able to find other restaurants within a few miles of similar quality with lower prices.
The hotel staff was very friendly and went out of their way to see to our needs. When they saw us looking at tourist fliers, they came up and handed us a regional map with Chateaus highlighted. Its location is very central to many of the local attractions The room was basic, but comfortable. Would have liked a shower curtain for the option to take a standing shower but the bathroom facilities were clean and adequate.
It's a perfect hotel to discover castles situated not far from it. English speaking management. Room is rather big.
Good fairly modern hotel on the outskirts of town. Good bathroom. Good restaurant. Good car park.
Modern, very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Excellent food combined with very comfortable rooms, excellent secure parking, quiet and yet within walking distance of town and its famous chateau
Clean, comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff and owner; good location for exploring the chateaux of the Loire valley. Our room was on the 2nd floor and there was no lift, but to be fair it was classified 2 star so couldn't really expect one.
Great welcome, very clean and modern and reasonable price.
Very good quality 2 star hotel (only the limited hours of its restaurant stop it being 3 star) refurbished in 2009. We had a 4 berth family room with a double and 2 bunk beds which was very comfortable. The room was perfectly decorated with new carpets and was spotlessly clean. It is a beautiful hotel building, lovely wooden entrance hall and staircase, probably a 4 star hotel in a previous life now brought back to life and refurbished on a smaller scale. We recommend the hotel and would stay again. We paid EUR76 for the 4 berth room. Breakfast EUR9.50. Dinner set menus from EUR22 but plenty of alternatives in town. Receptionists were friendly and helpful. A few downsides: (1) The hotel is a little further out of town than many others. Azay is a very small town but this hotel is off from the main road leading to the town, about 15 minutes walk to the Chateau. If you have a car no probs, and you prob won't beat the price. (2) Strangely the bath didn't have a shower screen so it was necessary to use a spare towel to cover the floor. Others have mentioned the same in other rooms but otherwise the bathroom is perfectly decorated with modern fittings.
The setting, the village, the view from the bedroom, the warmth & friendliness of the owners, the interior design of the rooms Now called Coupe de Coeur so spent ages looking for the Auberge
Nice village and pretty village staff very friendly but no english spoken. Room described as a suite which it really was not, and not worth 95 euros, no air con so had to have the french doors open and although in what seemed to be a quiet village the traffic noise was very bad and went on until 3am!and started again at 8am so had very little sleep. The Auberge has only one evening meal availiable which is cold and although this was good you would not want this for more than one evening and it was 17 euros this did include a dessert(again no choice) and coffee but is quite expensive compared with what is availiable generally in France. The swimming pool did not look well maintained and if the weather had been good enough to use it I am not sure we would have.
Ther Auberge de Crissay is not a hotel - it is a restaurant with some chambres-d'hote attached and the name has changed. They do not do evening meals. This makes most of the pojnts on your questionnaire invalid.
We loved the pool, the setting, the wineries, the chateaux...
the view, the staff, the silence, the decoration, the swimming pool, the village. 100% ok there.
Handy to break journey between UK and Malaga.
The realit of the food was better than the expectation The hotel is very run down and there was an unpleasant smell in the room - but this did go once the window had been left open for a while.
