10.0 Excellent
Pros: Villa Claude is the best experience I’ve ever had, welcoming and thoughtful hosts making me feel like a home away from home. Hosts were informative as to how to explore the little town, Cognac. The hotel is encompassed by a vast land area, a lot of nature, and greens - the truly authentic experience of living like a local/French! Definitely will recommend this place to friends or family!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything about the place. The host were wonderful, very welcoming and gave us great recommendations on things to do around town. The villa and room was very clean, comfortable and well decorated. The breakfast was perfect, to start out our day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Patrick and Dominique (and their gorgeous friendly dog) are excellent hosts who went above and beyond. They told us all about the history of the house which was extremely interesting. Patrick printed out good driving routes for us to explore the area. He also dropped us in Cognac when we went to Remy Martin distillery tour. We chose to walk back and it is approx 35 mins from the centre of Cognac to Villa Claude. The house and gardens are beautiful. The room and bathroom are lovely and the bed so comfortable. The breakfast was very good. We will definitely not hesitate to stay there again. We simply loved everything about our stay for 2 nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were lovely and the property was fabulous. Beautiful house and gardens. Plenty of room and the pool was delightful after a hot day.
Cons: Air-conditioning would’ve made it beyond perfect. And just a little too far if you want to walk to town but otherwise great if you have a car. Be aware that taxis are not easy to arrange in this area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellant breakfast. Very helpful host with very useful information about restaurants and places to visit. Very attractive property and grounds.
Cons: A little distance from the town but no real issue as easy parking available in the town.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, outstanding breakfast, and most important the gracious hosts.
Cons: You need a car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room, breakfast, building, location and hosts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: These were the most attentive hosts, extremely friendly, with the added bonus that they spoke English as we do not speak a lot of French. The house was so interesting , especially the dining room, and the breakfast was really beautifully prepared with something lovely being homemade every day, although the bedroom was up three floors, it was worth it as it was huge, with an equally big bathroom, and a lovely place to relax in. There is also a lovely salt water pool that we were able to use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I do not believe 10 is a fair score. These are those unique happenings when the maximum cannot describe the reality. Villa Claude is not a destination, it is paradise:). If you wish to feel royal and to escape the craziness of the cities, this is the perfect place to be without exaggerating. The chateau, because that’s what it is, the amazingly beautiful gardens, the sitting places in the garden, the vibes these places breathe, everything makes the top of it. And above all these, here you have Orion, the owner’s dog whom we just adored and played with daily. Indra, the horse, is another plus:) We spent 10 amazing days here, so if you really want to take the energy of this place and to fully embrace it, spend more days. The history will get to you for sure and the owners will make you feel a wonderful moment. We wish we could come back at some point and we officially declare it out best holidays so far!
Cons: There is not a thing we did not like. Everything was excellent!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, well equipped and immaculate. The bed was large and the bedding was crisp and cost. The bathroom / shower was spotless and well designed with a bright and airy colour scheme. The room check in process was absolutely brilliant and very professional with a tour of the hotel main communal areas. The spa / pool area was brand new and so relaxing with everything you could wish for. Parking was easy and luggage was take from the car to reception The bar and the atmosphere was great. We loved it The hotel overall was one I would recommend
Cons: The brassiere was a disappointing meal and the service in the restaurant wasn’t brilliant on the evening we were there. The bread was dry, no butter offered and the menu was fairly limited. The lady servicing us had broken false nails. The atmosphere was much more like a large chain hotel restaurant not the standard the hotel upheld in all other areas. The breakfast was disappointing with hot foods looking dry and unappealing, bread left out and dry and pastries left to go dry. Again service was just okay.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice house, great breakfast, the best hosts ever I have met so far in the world!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent - The welcome, the breakfast, the company. Beautiful French house.
Cons: I am not sure if the 25 euro supplement for a child, in this case a 13 years old and perfectly able to add to the Conversation, is a good policy. But even the final 95 euro price was worth it. I mention this in their interests.

Pros: Clean, quiet and cozy hotel with spacious rooms in Jarnac. The staff made me feel welcomed and helped when needed. I would recommend staying here if in town.
Cons: Unfortunately the breakfast was disappointing for us, very limited selection and of poor quality. For example, the fruit was rotten and when asked for fresh one no one bothered to change it, not even on the next morning. Hopefully this can be improved for future guests. Also some staff were less helpful and did not speak English, which made the communication a bit challenging.

Pros: The location was ideal, near free parking (19.00 until 09.00). It was central for our needs, impeccable and not too fussy. We don't like cushions thrown everywhere so the simplicity suited us down to the ground. It was quiet and the host was pleasant. We would, neverthless, loved to have known her name! Pros: Bed was super comfortable with pristine bed linen. The view was amazing.
Cons: There seemed to be a lack of thought for the basics in the room. No water, only one glass and one chair in a double room. The owner pointed us towards some local restaurants, none of which were open. Shame really as it could be so good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really great host, help everywhere they can. The location is beautiful, so quit, just amazing. I would go there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were so happy to see the place when we arrived. The place is just like in the pictures. Historical house renovated by a good taste plus a little bit of bohemian style and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The room was beautiful. We enjoyed the host dinner in front of the house watching the vineyards. Extra plus for the excellent wines the friendly hostess had to offer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Le Dojo as part of a house hunting trip. The house is tucked away but easy to find with good signage. It opens up through a private courtyard & the rooms are decorated in the owners cool taste. Breakfast was delicious & set us up for the day ahead. It was a pleasure to wake up with amazing views from the house.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved the house, the view, the peace, you really get ‘the good life’ feel when you stay at this property. The continental breakfast was sufficient to start the day, with a special treat of home-made crepes on both days.
Cons: The poor internet connection was the only negative comment.

Overview Reviews
Located in Chassors, Logis de Guîtres is a 5-minute drive from Birthplace of Francois Mitterrand and 6 minutes from Francois Mitterrand Museum. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful stay in beautiful landscape. The breakfast was so delicious and all homemade. We enjoyed time very much.
6.3 Good
Pros: Logis de Guitres is a beautifully appointed and thoughtfully furnished French manor house situated behind high walls in the village of Chassors between Jarnac and Cognac. Chassors itself is an unattractive village with no shops, restaurants or any redeeming features but it is within a short drive of both Jarnac and Cognac. The lovely themed rooms and very comfortable bed with good quality linen were pristinely clean as was the en-suite bathroom. Each room has coffee/tea making facilities which was a bonus for that early morning cup of coffee. The rooms are in the main house which is used exclusively for guests who also have the use of a sunny sitting room. The continental breakfast served in the beautifully furnished dining room around a communal table was delicious there was home grown fresh produce from the garden, homemade jams and special homemade pastries which were different every morning a veritable feast to start the day. Corrine the hostess was very welcoming and happy to impart her extensive knowledge of the area as well as restaurant recommendations for evening meals. Whilst I cannot put my finger on the reason for it we did feel very uncomfortable and almost as if we were an imposition during our stay at Logis de Guitres maybe because we were the only guests. If you are travelling in the height of the season or in a group I would say that this property would have a very different ambiance. The owners have put a great deal of love and attention into making this property a beautiful oasis but would we stay at here again I somehow doubt it but for no other reason than its location we would prefer somewhere closer to Cognac or Saintes.
Cons: Whilst free WIFI was advertised and available it only worked intermittently and in the end we gave up because it was just so bad that we could not even access emails. I also tried to access the internet via my SFR sim card but this also proved unsuccessful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm and personal
Cons: We visited during a heatwave and would love to have had a swim in a swimming pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every detail thought out, perfect. The place was immaculate with beautiful grounds and personal service.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcome from host, nothing was too much trouble and a home baked breakfast was a lovely treat. Our room was enormous but access to lounge, dining room and large garden was perfect
Cons: Nothing but remember to plan evening meals as restaurants recquire a car journey
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great with range of different home cooked and prepared treats each day. Location was fine if you had a car but in an ideal world would be nearer to Cognac. Jarnac was nearest railway station. Hosts were extremely kind and very willing to help in any way they could. Very relaxed calm atmosphere at the Logis. Only slight downside was old building floorboards and doors creaked and made lot of noise as guests retired at night and adjacent rooms plumbing sounds were very apparent.
Cons: More sound insulation from nose of other guests passing in corridors or using bath room facilities would have been nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast each day with different choices. Lovely setting and the owners gave us a really good recommendation for an evening meal just 3km away. Quite superb and will keep all foodies very happy. Surrounded by lots of cognac tasting venues but sadly did not have the time to partake this trip. We will be back.
Cons: Nothing although it did take a while to find it but really worth it once we had arrived.

Pros: The house is beautiful and decorated with excellent taste. Our room/suite was very spacious and comfortable, like in a 5 star hotel with luxury toiletries and quality towels and linen and the whole place is spotlessly clean. We had a delicious breakfast on the terrace with freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade jams and yoghurt and fresh fruit salad. Christine is a perfect hostess with plenty of good suggestions for restaurants or visits to local cognac houses. Highly recommended. There is ample free parking on the road outside the house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really liked this property. The hostess is welcoming and informative. Breakfast was delightful with homemade yogurt and jams. Our room was the attic but it was huge and beautifully remodeled with lots of towels and a very modern bath. The location is close to the major cognac producers, and walking distance to restaurants and the river front.
Cons: What we were not prepared for was the 2 flights of stairs on a spiral staircase. Since we were on a long trip, with a lot of luggage, this was a problem for a one night stay. I recommend you ask where your room will be if stairs are an issue. Parking is on the street in front and although for us there was a space available, the time of arrival will make a difference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely serviceminded owner. Beautiful renovated hotel, modern but the charm has been kept. Tasty breakfast included. Close to city center. Very clean. Highly recommended!!
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming . The room was very spacious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well we are blown away by the charm. Clean, beautifully presented, great location, parking, charming caring owner Christine who was always there to make sure sure our stay was memorable. Small touches go a long way and here there are too many to name them all. Breakfast was excellent enjoyable and in the most beautiful conservatory room. Fresh home made yoghurt and jam and full of French Pastries. A real gem don’t hesitate to book here.
Cons: There is nothing not to like here.

Cons: No lift. Room too small. Shower cubicle very small.
7.5 Good
Pros: Central location was great and the staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: The hotel is fine as an overnight like we did but the room was very basic and we thought for a disabled person but we would consider staying again in another room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: right in the centre of Cognac, great staff and excellent place to stay
Cons: don't take a large vehicle into the car park :)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very central location
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and welcoming and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable. The courtyard area was great for a cup of tea in the afternoon or an evening drink before going out. The air conditioning was a bonus. The hotel is well situated for restaurants. The breakfasts were particularly good with hot and cold food on offer.
Cons: There was little we did not like.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Although it was within the city center it was still very quiet. My Room faced the little courtyard inside. A little supermarket is exactly opposite the hotel which makes it really convenient if you do need anything but just know all shops open at 9 and close by 12 for lunch then open again around 4:30 to 6. Everything shuts on Sunday.
Cons: Water should be given in the rooms complimentary. Just a thought as there was no water in my room in the middle of the night. Not even in the vending machine in the hotel and I was on medication
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great service, nice, clean room, super owner
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I would stay here again next time I visit Cognac. The staff are exceptional, very welcoming. The breakfast was more than adequate, I enjoyed the cooked items and the home made cake. The hotel is in a good location, just a minute or two from the tourist information office and a similar distance from the Meukow distillery, which is well worth a visit and great value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff excellent! Friendly and attentive! Beds comfortable! Excellent cleanliness. Ideal location for Cognac houses and choice of restaurants! Walking distance to most. Parking on site an advantage. This was our fourth time at Chevalier Blanc and will most definitely return!
Cons: Room could have done with being a little bigger for three adults but that is a minor issue.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcoming hosts very convenient for anyone going barging in Jarnac for an overnight stop
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely overnight stop before barging in jarnac hosts very welcoming and helpful with information
Cons: Rooms a bit small
8.3 Excellent
Pros: They were relatively accommodating during the heat wave. They provided a fan.
Cons: The breakfast could have been better.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was good, with overlooking of the surrounding fields from the room, Owners were excellent, great conversation, good continental breakfast for which the owners were also very informative of destinations locally and with the Cognac region, would stay again in one of the Gites or larger rooms and will be recommending family to visit and stay in one of the aforementioned accommodations. Many thanks to the owners.
Cons: We did take all of our swimming gear, towels etc, to find that the pool was out of action, not a major problem, but we were expecting the facility and may have appreciated the heads up prior to packing the gear, but overall the room was comfortable, if a bit on the small size for a larger person but the Owners were excellent, possible suggest one of the Gites or larger rooms and check that the pool is available if you are expecting a swim.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very clean and in good order. Good shower and comfortable bed. There was a pleasant outdoor seating area and plenty of parking space and secure cycle parking. The grounds were nicely manicured and the abundant lavender buzzed with bees and smelt lovely
Cons: Hosts did not introduce themselves though they were welcoming enough. There are printed signs all over the place with instructions on what and what not to do to a degree which is over the top. We deliberately left the windows open (first floor) to dry some washing we’d done and came back from town to find them closed. There was a very slim chance of shower but no real reason to be concerned over the weather. Odd and a tad intrusive.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Home from home experience, in a quiet location. Janet and Grant were great hosts. l would highly recommend staying here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
Cons: I liked everything. Charming hosts, beautiful property and countryside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly reception from Grant and Janet. We arrived with a broken bicycle gear cable which could of delayed us for several days. Grant very kindly gave us a cable of his from an old bike of his which we managed to fit. Nice spacious clean rooms overlooking the vineyards, and short ride into attractive Jarnac for food.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The price is too low for the standard of accommodation. The owners were friendly and helpful coming into the street to greet us as we arrived.
Cons: It is quite a walk into the centre of Cognac but don’t let that put you off. For the price you can afford return taxis if you don’t want a walk
6.7 Good
Pros: Price is right, basic but you get what you pay for.
Cons: Small prefabricated room, quite hot.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable also excellent shower/bathroom facilities and plenty of wardrobe space. All very private
Cons: It was a very hot night and a fan would have been welcome if available. I don’t think it was clear enough online that breakfast was not included, although there was a kettle etc to make a cup of tea/coffee
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very large comfortable room.
Cons: There was a bit of noise from adjoining rooms, house. Until about 11pm

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, quiet and relaxing place, about 10 min from city center. Free secure parking. Standard rooms with coffee/tea facilities. Good breakfast, but one can buy fresh sandwiches and coffee just around the corner. Overall very good experience.
Cons: On the second floor, there is a small step when going out of each room, it can be dangerous especially at darkness. Initially it was some smell from the shower cabin, which gone away after the first use.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was small, but comfortable. Excellent attentive and professional staff. The front desk arranged our cognac tasting and tour at Hennessy and Otard, both of which are walking distance. They also recommended excellent nearby restaurants. On-site breakfast was very good, setting is picturesque.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite and perfectly situated for walking around Cognac:) spacious and comfortable room :). Friendly staff and delicious breakfast:) next time I would love to stay in one of the caravans
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were gypsy huts or shepherd huts. No restaurant only breakfast (extra) but hut had kitchenette with job microwave utensils so you could make a meal. But it’s only minutes from Cognac central with great restaurants & brasseries & bars.
Cons: The shower room was adequate but could have been a little better. The shower workings weren’t clear but not a big deal.
