cleanliness, comfort and at a perfect distance from the town center. the facilities looked interesting although we only got to use the pool which was heated and very clean. we got back to the hotel at 3 am on saturday, the gates were closed, the staff member in charge wasnt around. we had to wait 30 min until a guest inside went to look for someone who could help us in.
This place dates back maybe 200 years to one of the city founders or something...fantastic architecture on inside...worth just dropping by to see even if you don't plan on staying there. This place is a hidden treasure. I think it was low season so I got in on deal...I tried to extend it a day or two but they wanted 3x what I paid 1st night. Still neat place and would go back when I have more money in my pocket.
Aldea Real is situated in a gorgeous spot overlooking the river and facing a verdant mountain side. The view and the power of the rushing water is breathtaking. The room was neat, clean and well appointed and a balcony provided great access to the view. The place is managed by an amicable young couple who were able to converse in English as well as Spanish, which came in handy. While Aldea Real is in a gorgeous spot, it is not particularly close to town; it is about a 8 minute cab ride away. That said, a cab ride is $2, and I felt the view was worth it. My one recommendation would be the need for dehumidifiers to remove moisture from the air to keep mold at bay during the rainy season.
