The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant provided food of the very best quality and choice.
Ideal location for Castro centre. Room cleaned daily. Breakfast was available but E10 was expensive for what was provided.
we only stayed for one night but found the hotel staff very helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other people.
Good location, nice restaurant Restaurant did not start serving dinner until 9pm. I would have preferred an earlier start.
very friendly and helpfull staff. very good breakfast with really fresh orange-juice. personel approach.
The location, the town itself and most of all the very friendly staff. Nothing
I liked the free minibar and the provision of tea and coffee making facilities in the room.Tea is very important for people from Ireland and Englnd. I didn't see a no smoking section in the cafeteria and I would have liked more choice in the room service menu.
This is an excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff, large well furnished and equipped rooms, lift, useful cafeteria dining facility. Parking is on the roads around or in their secure car park (extra charge). Virtually on the seafront and about 10mins level walk along the promenade to the cental area of the town where there are many places to eat. There are also bars and cafes around the hotel Did not use their restaurant as opened too late for us and always looked empty
the staff were very helpful, the room was always clean and very comfortable no
the location was fantastic-right beside the beach .The staff are so friendly and helpful. We found the hotel offered a large selection for breakfast which was a nice surprise. The rooms were large, plush and very clean. nothing
The room was comfortable. Car parking was an underground car park at the hotel (at a cost) and was very easily accessible. One of the main reasons that I booked the hotel was because it had a restaurant and I could eat at the hotel after a long drive. On arrival I was told that I could not eat at the hotel due to a wedding and that it was a 30 minute walk to a place where I could find somewhere to eat. I was not offered a reduction in the price of the room for not being able to use the facilities for which I had paid to use.
Its location - in easy reach of ferry port and metro into main city. The restaurant staff were not very friendly or attentive.
The amazing views, very peacefull
Very helpfull staff, excellent restaurant and nice rooms
Extremely helpful staff, always willing to give assistance and guidance on local information. They all spoke very good English.
Hotel was amazing - beautifully finished and amazing views over the water. The air con didn't seem to work that well and the restaurant was closed - we weren't aware of this when we booked and as there isn't much around the hotel, this was an inconvenience. However, the food in the cafetaria although pricey was very good.
Very pleasant staff and very well located
Great helpful staff who spoke English well and a nice location with a good view. A little away from the central hub of Bilbao but easy accessible. No but it was very popular with locals for the restaurant as well as the guests so it was a busy little hotspot for occasions, family, kids and couples until around 11 pm each night on the patio. Probably not suited for a quiet getaway but good for socializing.
This hotel is litrally in the middle of an industrial estate. There are absolutely no shops or bars within walking didtance. It's ideal if you are planning to turn up late and leave early. Booking.com said it was in Santurtzi but it was miles away. On the good side the car park was excellent and secure, and the room was very good. The Location (not near Santurtzi where Booking.com said it was. The floor by the bar was covered with discarded tissue and cigarette ends. Absoultely no attempt was made to clear up the mess. As there were no ash trays the smokers had no choice but to use the floor as an ash tray. I would definately not recommend this hotel unless you simply need a bed for the night.
Friendly quiet and secure with safe basement parking Although no smell of cigerette in the room there was a strong smell of stale cigerette smoke from the pillows when lying on ones side.
The large room, comfortable bed, modern well appoimted bathroom The restaurant was not open for either an evening meal or breakfast ~ I had to have snacks from the bar.
A modern hotel with a nice Decoration. Very nice and comfortable.
Spotless rooms & bathrooms. Good underground, secure carpark. Location: difficult to find on industrial estate. In the middle of nowhere. Nowhere to eat other then the hotel itself (and on our first night, the restaurant closed at 9.15). Nowhere to walk in the evening - miles away from Bilbao centre. Also, we thought that we had booked one twin and one double room, but there were no twin rooms, so our teenage children had to share a bed.
I liked the decor of the hotel and the secure parking as well as the ability to catch the train to Bilbao. Rooms were very comfortable and very modern. Just seemed funny having a modern hotel in the midst of an industrial zone right on top of a service station. The smell of the industrial zone and inability to get food close by. Restaurant was closed.
Clean, tidy and easy. Thank you.
Excellent welcome and very helpful staff (Alexandro) - Closed to beaches - Very clean - Good breakfast - Free parking The only weak point was the view from our room in front of the garage but anyway people are outside the hotel so, it doesn't really matter...
the hotel had only a few guests so was very quiet and we were looked after well. if there was lots of guests the rooms would be noisy as very little soundproofing & breakfast would be a little small.
The location and personal were very nice. The issue is not "did not like", but it would be nice to have more pillows available and more shower gel.
Excellent. friendly service of hotel manager Alexandro - he was extremely helpful, pleasant and nothing was too much trouble
brand new facility with friendly staff, very cheap breakfast , modern rooms and pool. no mini bar installed yet. excellent hotel for pass-thru on a 2 day car journey thru spain.
Every aspect was excellent. None
Staff were very friendly. Liked the fact that alongside continental breakfast you could order additional cups of coffee without additional charge.
A superb hotel in a lovely quiet location, Alejandro the manager is an absolute gem and made our stay very special, nothing was too much trouble. The location is quiet even in season, and as the hotel does not have a restaurant please be aware that the few local reataurants all keep Spanish opening hours.i.e.they don't open for dinner until 9.30 in the evening.
smell aroun the hotel (cows)
Staff friendliness and welcome.
the beds were small and the queen size bed would roll apart into 2 single beds without wnting tat to happen
Excellent breakfast, laptop in room, good shower, exercise bike
Staff very polite and business like. Could do with a kettle, coffee and tea in room.
I love the ecclectic concept of the hotel. Different from any other place I've stayed. none
A nice hotel in a good location with friendly and helpful staff
Availability of internet service, location of hotel
Nice hotel, located at the beach. Rooms were ok. Restaurants nearby. Bilbao can be easily reached by metro. We had a large balcony but there were'nt any chairs !
Best hotel i´ved stay till now
Rooms with sea views... beds kept rolling around as you moved on them... not for couples! Very well designed rooms and decor excellent. Poor information about services - no information leaflets whatever in the rooms, nothing about charges for the supplied laptop in the room. Workmen drilling the outside walls and fixing meant a lot of noise even with the windows closed. Very hard to find this hotel when driving from the airport, poorly signed in the area. Staff seemed struck dumb.
i liked the free access to internet, with a laptop installed in all the rooms i didn't like not being inforñed that all common parts were under construction. They are renewing reception and restaurant, but it will look good at the end...Luckily the rooms were already done and looking very nice.
Setting very good. Old nature of hotel but modernized. Friendly owner and staff Design of on-suite bathroom in eaves of house
Small hotel. helpful friendly staff. pleasant gardens. free parking. accept dogs for a charge. Lack of air conditioning, having to open windows to keep cool led to lots of mosquito bits. breakfast poor.
A delightful place to stay. Great ambiance and good food.
Location, design of public rooms and garden, informality, nearness to stunning beaches but not far from autovia Our room could have done with some refurbishment: worn paintwork, broken bathroom fittings, bare light bulbs. Evening meal needs improvement: good value for money but more "assembled" than cooked; and tinned pineapple with cream from a can is not a proper dessert/postre in our opinion!
A beautiful location, with accommodation tastefully decorated and comfortable. Our one night stay in May was a pleasure. The owner, Maria, was most welcoming, and provided a lovely room for my my wife, myself and our two dogs. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the drive to the ferry at Santander a mere 30 minutes. NO.
Location and it was so different
Reception/Booking in was friendly & efficient. The parking was convienent & good. The room (304) was large and comfortable. I was not aware that the hotel was so close to the railway line. I also found the on line pictures of the hotel over flaterring & made it difficult to find as I was expecting it to be in grounds of its own and not in beside other close buildings.
Good standard of hotel Given room overlooking railway station
Clean comfortable and close to Santander for ferry Breakfast was not quite as good as Paradores
Interesting breakfast offer High parking price
Rooms excellent, location very good for ferry, car park security excellent Restaurant only open at weekends, hotel seems to be using a fraction of its potential, actually barely looks open from the outside.
Very friendly staff, good location, would go back.
It was an interesting building and convenient for the ferry in the morning No restaurant in the evening and poor service in the cafeteria due to lack of staff, also no Bar facilities unless cafeteria was open
nice location and beauty Shakespeare castle looking hotel building, music tv program 40 breakfast rather poor, no fishes and vegetables; internet access is expensive, big noise from trains in room in rear part of hotel
Ease of access and parking. No
I wanted a functional; comfortable hotel that I could stay overnight before catching the Ferry from Bilbao. This was a perfect choice. Only the fact that the staff in the Restaurant had a little difficulty taking the order in English but then again we were in Spain...
Usual quality and service at Paradores None
Good sized rooms, bed very comfortable, well equipped and everything works. Restaurant and bar both good, though food at the bar is rather limited. Nice outdoor pool, indoor pool and gym handy for wetter times! Great location for Bilbao/Guggenheim and beaches Not much alternative nearby to eating in hotel restaurant
Our room was large and comfortable. The cafeteria was friendly and had a reasonable selection of food and drink. The outdoor pool was fine The main restaurant was highly priced and the cooking was poor. It was difficult to get information about local events.
Excellent hotel, beautifull location well signposted off the main drag.Only problem there is nowhere in the village to eat and the restraunt is rather expensive.
Large, well appointed bedrooms and public rooms. Good food and value for money.
Return from Portugal to board the ferry at Santurtzi the following day. We knew what to expect, as this was our second visit.
Clean, well-run hotel. Good continental breakfast. Lovely stylish tiled bathroom. Warm and clean rooms. Good value. Second row back from beach. No sea view and room was a little on small size but would still recommend this hotel.
Room was acceptable but unnecessarily hot. Ridiculous window shutter system and flimsy curtains may be ideal for Spanish afternoon siestas, but not much use at night, given no air conditioning. We didn't like Laredo. The old part is lovely but very small and not much in it. The new part is like Clacton. Not somewhere we'll return to.
Easy parking in quiet road. Near beach and town centre.Lovely balcony outside bedroom. Good for an overnight stay. Bathroom nicely fitted but very tight for space. A tiled pillar in centre of room and large door made getting in the bath/shower quite a challenge.
I liked the staff best. Wasn't there for long, so can't say much about it. The hotel was good for the price and really near the very pleasant beach. The place reminded me of Worthing on the south coast of England where my parents retired to! Gentile but slightly gone to seed, nice and quiet, conservative. Very flat, Worthing. I'm sure it was a one-off but I didn't like the central heating being jammed on all night in my room. Slept in bed nearest the window with the window open, which was ok. I also didn't like the curtains being of such thin material. Felt I could be seen straight through them! The breakfast was all stuff in sealed cellophane packages ,even the croissant! Still, it was edible enough, and at that cheap price who should grumble?
We just stayed for one night, it was ideal. Great location, close to the beach and restaurants. And lots of free parking in the street.
they recommended the restaurant/cafe we used for supper - very Spanish & nice - PS we were only pasing through Laredo ! Non
Lovely hotel with very pleasnt staff. We would like to go back there and and stay for longer. Hotel is really nicely designed and very well kept. One of the best if not the best hotel on our three week trip cycling through Spain and France.
Huge room, nice staff, free parking along side and near to the beach but an easy walk to the town centre I booked at 50 euros for a single room, when I got there people just turning up got quoted 37,50. The lounge area is a bit shabby
Quiet location but only 2 mins from beach and 5 mins from the town centre . No lift - would have been easier with the luggage.
Beach, old sity of Loredo, restourans, etc, Very nice hotel and friendly staff, but they have produce air conditions in rooms!!!
The staff were very welcoming and cheerfull. The location is very good being near shops, restaurants and the beautiful beach. the breakfast, there is not as much choice as expected.
The sauna was a nice surprise! It is not easy to find a real Finnish style sauna abroad. The air-conditioning works well. The hotel is pretty humid due to the spa department. The wi-fi did not work at all.
For its size, the facilities are excellent with a good outdoor swimming pool and a sauna/jacuzzi complex inside. Private patio area was a bonus - even if overlooked by adjoining properties. Breakfast choice was poor. Noise from the road and/or surrounding properties could sometimes be a problem.
Friendly staff, nice pool area to relax and swim. Car Park was hard to find. Would suggest signage at entrance to underground car park to indicate that it was for the hotel.
Restraunt and bar cleanliness, friendliness and good food. Maybe only small selection on menu.
Restaurant a bit pricey & food not fantastic. Getting into car park very difficult.
The staff was very welcoming and helping. It was a pleasure.
Staff which I came into contact with were friendly and helpful, most of all the front desk. The charge of €15 per night for car parking FOR GUESTS is far too high. This marked down the hotel in the value for money section.
very nice room, huge bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, very clean and modern premises, good restaurant
While it is a distance outside Bilbao it is easily accessed by Metro. The location is great for touring the region by car. While the hotel charge €15 for parking, there is free public parking at the back of the hotel, which suited us fine. The hotel restaurant was expensive for what you get. We ate most meals in the Doyuno Cafe across the road (under a red brick apartment block). Lovely food great atmosphere and great service. The hotel room is big (we had double room with sofa), but badly needs storage space for guests staying more than a night or two. Overall the hotel is reasonable priced and I would recommend staying there if you have a car or if you don't mind using public transport. Internet connection kept disconnecting. Reception were unhelpful ("the internet access is operated by a different Company" "we have no control over it"). Reception also only mentioned the free public parking when we quizzed them. As mentioned above there is no storage space in the room.
pleasant and helpful staff no
All fine, except : see below bar closes at 11pm. and it was too hot in the room, even with the thermostat at the minimum
It was a perfect location for us, as it was located near a metro station and a shuttle pick-up point for a music festival we went to. However the location in itself is not very attractive for tourism. Parking was not free of charge, we then had to park the car in a dodgy location behind the hotel.
Underground parking was most useful, but a bit expensive for one night. Impossible to eat in smoke filled bar, absolutely stank, you must lose a lot of business from non-smokers, (ie. The majority). Spain needs to enforce the smoking law, send them outside in the rain!
Location and friendly staff No food service in restaurant because of private party
Helpfulness of staff Huge underground car park was useful, but it was dark and there was no disabled access to lower floor.
Central, comfortable and pleasant.
Staff ,position of hotel rooms, easy to reach Bilbao. Price of food in Resturant a bit high
The bar of the hotel was a good alternative to the restaurant, for breakfast and dinner.
Location handy to ferry port. The location by the docks was very pleasant and hotel set in pleasant surroundings.
Everything about the hotel, the staff, accommodation, parking facilities and the fact that it was close to the ferry was everything we needed and would definitely book into the hotel again.
Location very close to the Bilbao Ferry Being in a room above a Disco/Function, that kept us awake until 2.00 a.m.. This hotel needs to decide which market it is. The Ferry or Functions, the two don't mix!
The hotel offered a package including tickets to the Guggenheim Museum. Also, for an additional fee, there is secure on-site parking (we required this). The accommodation was comfortable, with air-conditioning, 'fridge and hairdryer in the bathroom. Hotel is situated on the riverside, near the hanging bridge and the old town, and thre were nearby bars where we found food and drink. As we visited Bilbao on a Sunday, nothing was open (except the Guggenheim Museum).
very nice people who worked hard to bridge the language gap.
nice restored historical building. Excellent breakfast.Friendly staff. B and B feeling. No parking problems.Very interesting area to discover. In the village of Liendo thre is not much to do but Laredo and other interesting places are minutes driving away
We enjoyed the welcome and helpfulness of Mara Alfonso who was very helpful and made our stay very special in fact we returned three weeks later for a further night. The stay was very relaxing in a special place.
Peace and quiet. The building and furnishings. Location (seaside;countryside&mountains).
very friendly, place was full of charm
Good location Spanish bad habit of not eating an evening meal before 9.00pm
Fantastic building to stay in, very quite location, however we where the only guests at the time, friendly staff bit difficult to find, due to poor directions and lack of signs
The little Spa is just wonderful - it should just be cleaned more often. The staff was extremly nice and helpful and the hotel is lovely and quiet located - just perfect. Breakfast is very nice for the price. The hotel is an ancient house so we had to get used to the noises an old house makes (and some of the guestes).
Very nice hotel and rooms decorated in typical old style with everything you need. Very romantic, quiet and great service giving us some good tips for food and a great beach. I would definately recommend it. The only thing missing would be a pool in the garden and perhaps a wider breakfast choice with some local delicacies.
I like all about this Posada It is in the middle of nowhere. But I had car so it's not the problem.
This is a lorry drivers' haven. Very basic rooms and a little bit of an echo. There's nothing here apart from a smoky greasy spoon opposite; you have to walk down the road to the left of the hotel entrance - about 300 metres - to find anything apart from this to eat. I had an ensalada mixta - tuna salad.
