Will be nice when its finished Noisy disco, tv not working, scaffolding and refurbishments going on, had no record of our booking when we arrived, not good value
lovely gardens and patio area for drinks, relaxing, comfortable, clean, great decor, great food, lovely little fashionable hotel
The food was exceptional
Rooms are very clean and spacious enough, staff are attentive without being intrusive and the food truly superb. Samll point but for those of us alon on business the choice of TV channels was limited Location on the outskirts of Tiverton and within a few miles of the M5 made a good base for business in trips down to Exeter. Will not hesitiate to stay there again As above the TV channels selection is very limited to around 10 or so channels including some lesser used ones: this seems like a small point and in essence it is but when away on business the TV is sometimes theo nly evening passtime available when you are not in the mood for reading a good book.
The staff were friendly and were very helpful Wifi was very weak In certain areas
Friendly staff No bedside table, no mirror in room, kettle lead not long enough so had to be used on the floor, window not secure
Lovely location and food was excellent Shower not great and breakfast service very slow
Very helpful & friendly staff, excellent dinner & breakfast Loo wouldn't flush Refurbishment in progress a number of flies in room & restaurant
A very comfortable and welcoming hotel. Staff all very friendly and food excellent although evening meals very pricey.Bedrooms all seemed to have been furnished individually and varied greatly in size. Ours was quite small but very comfortable. Lovely large shower which was quite unusual and towels and bedding snowy white. All that was lacking was a mirror in the bedroom (the one in the bathroom was not easy for doing makeup etc) and as we were going to a wedding, I mentioned this to the owner who managed to find one for me. However that was not going to be a permanent fixture! Having originally booked this hotel for 7 nights we did in fact end up extending it for another night.Convenient centre for touring Exmoor and Dartmoor.
We had dinner and the food was delicious. Breakfast was good too.
The food was great, including breakfast. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful on the whole. Having been told that the bar was open, and we could order drinks on arrival, the male member of staff moaned loudly that he 'didn't expect to be making coffee at this time of night'! This made us feel a little awkward!
staying to visit friends so did not use hotel much. English breakfast expensive.
Freindly staff,near to town,food good. n/a
Resturant food greaty overpriced and only of average quality
The restaurant was improved as was the decorations. Room clean.
recently refurbished room, food good, attended family party at the hotel so very convenient for us
All the meals were very enjoyable but the helpings rather large for us. Availabilty of porridge at breakfast particularly appreciated. Staff very friendly and helpful. Facilities for the civil wedding we attended were excellent.
We stayed there some years ago and it is now much improved Dining room/resturant has yet to be refurbished and is looking 'tired'
Location was perfect to break our journey down to cornwall Prices in the restraunt seemed a little on the high side for the average families to cop with .But the bar snack menu was fine and prices werefar more reasonable
Breakfast was very nice, furnishing were very pleasant. Everyone was very nice. As above, not much atmosphere in lounge/bar area.
Closeness to the wedding we were attending, clean rooms with nice views. Not flexible with breakfast arrangements, to be fair we hadn't booked breakfast, but the owner wouldn't prepare it even with a whole day's notice...?
We only stayed overnight to break a journey but our host was very friendly and helpful with a superb breakfast. The room was very comfortable and clean with a good en-suit. Lack of wardrobe space would make a longer stay a little crowded with only rows of coat hooks - a very minor gripe at an otherwise good b+b, we'd certainly return. Had no time to explore the lacality but the Redwood Inn nearby did excelent bar meals and beers.
Friendliness of owners. Local pub was great for meals Directions took you up very narrow lanes(even discounting the fact we got lost). We prefered the way we found to leave.
Very friendly and helpful service. Lovely family and first class breakfast. None!
the ambience quiet country atmosphere
The personal attentiveness to detail and helpfulness of David the owner - who was really helpful despite my arriving late. The room was lovely - first time in a four poster bed! It would have been nicer if the bathroom had been ensuite but there are no other guests upstairs so it was not a problem
Friendly, quiet and beautiful rural area Kitchen smell in room
The bedroom was compact but lovely with 4-poster bed. Self-serve Tea/coffee was provided. Bathroom basic but functional A small bone of contention. We did not book breakfast with the room and we could not order it when we checked in. This should be made clear in the brochure
Very friendly owner, but not intrusive. Beautifully decorated rooms with great attention to detail. Excellent package.
Very pretty surroundings
The location and grounds were absolutely magnificant. The rooms were also very comfortable. Nothing of note, although Wi-Fi access would be preferred.
The surroundings are superb - very peaceful and quiet. Ideal for a wedding (which is their core business). Beats staying in a modern 'formula' hotel room for sure and so reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed v. comfortable and beautiful bed linen. Nothing ....
Stunning setting. Unique feel. Welcoming
Friendly welcome, lovely and well-heated room in a courtyard off a pretty castle overlooking a lovely Devon river and valley. Breakfast was quite delicious and set in a wonderful dining room. If you're looking for a stay in comfort in the midst of glorious Devon, away from the monotony of metropolitan hotels, go for this. Dinner at the local pub was excellent, too.
Friendly and peaceful atmosphere. Excellent breakfast and very comfortable room.
it was some thing different ideal for a quite break in beautiful countryside but not to far from places to visit. the cooked breakfast was excellent and we were well looked after with personal service and friendly people we doth enjoyed our stay.
Very friendly staff, good restaurant, beautiful setting. The rooms do not have en suite facilities, which is understandable given the planning restrictions on listed buildings like the cottage where I was accommodated. I had not picked this up from the internet details.
Great welcome and friendly staff. Wonderful and interesting location.
Excellent and unusual venue, location and surroundings, friendly staff proprietor, history of site. It was off season so there was no restaurant on site.
