Although I made an online reservation, the front desk attendant decided that he would give priority to other people who walked in and paid him cash. They did not give any reasoning why they did not think my online reservation was valid and simply dismissed us. I was left stranded with my significant other having to look for a different hotel. If you are in Old Quito, I would recommend Hotel San Francisco, which is just down the block from this one.
the cable tv and the excellent hot shower no
The hotel was comfortable and very clean. The staff was helpful. It is located in Quito's old section and very close to many of the sites we wanted to see. The courtyard in the center of the building was a nice quiet place to relax. The hotel provided eveerything we needed-- comfortable beds, hot water, a good breakfast and free wi-fi. I was sorry that there wasn't a restaurant in the hotel. (The information I received when I made the reservations said that there was.) Quito is not very safe at night and we didn't feel comfortable going out at night. The hotel has a refrigerator and we were able to use that which helped.
Location was very good and staff were friendly and helpful. Design of hotel caused it to be noisy sometimes but after midnight it was quiet.
Breakfast was nice, served in a beautiful setting with a view of the city. Good location, close to LaRonda for nice restaurants and shopping and sightseeing. It's noisy in the mornings because most rooms face the enclosed courtyard and you can hear the guests leaving for breakfast and checking out. Not a good hotel for sleeping in.
Great location! Nice breakfast and coffee available 24/7. Beautiful relaxing hotel and rooms.
This is a colonial-style building completely refurbished as a hotel in the old city, with an extremely willing staff. Hotel pick-up at the airport was handled very well, even though my plane was several hours late (after midnight). Staff very helpful and anxious to please, and they do not charge for using their computers in the patio (Business Center) There is no elevator, and you have to go up to the 4th floor for breakfast, which can be a real feat given the altitude of Quito, at least the first couple of days. They serve only breakfast. Although there are several restaurants a couple of blocks away, I wished I could have eaten something at night, say, right in the hotel or closer by. Single room was very small (but very new and well-maintained), and the closet pole was out of reach, 7 feet up or more.
Short walk to main bus station in Quito and short taxi drive to large mall. Staff were very helpful but only speak Spanish. Good simple $2 breakfast. Plenty of hot water for showers - no hot water in the sink but that is the usual in Ecuador. Noisy at times, even in back where it was quieter. Cold for us and no heating, which is probably OK unless it is colder than usual - it was the first 2 days. Rough section of town and the bus station was the best option for lunch or dinner if walking. Reserved a queen size bed but got a double. Unless you stay in a high end hotel in Ecuador this seems to be the norm.
