The best we liked was the staff and the location due to the nearby villages to be visited. Breakfast and toilett supplies could be better.
Very little. The atmosphere was very unfriendly. The beds were very hard and it is very isolated.
It's beautiful The staff weren't super nice and you had to pay for every single thing down to the pool towel
Beautiful hotel, approx 1 km from Monteriggioni. Fabulous pool with jacuzzi inside. Lovely big rooms. No
friendly and helpful staff, nice building design, nice facilities, cleaniness
iot was terrible .. a holiday inn by teh side of theroad. we waited 45 minutes for our dinner due to a large party which keep us up to 1 AM terrible place. dirty room and run down never again we left early
Overall, Il Piccolo Castello is well located for visiting the various attractions in the Tuscany reason. Hotel staff was friendly and provided good services. Breakfast buffet had good variety of food choices. Dinner was also excellent. (1) Air Conditioning - setting are automatically controlled and shut off overnight unless guest requested otherwise. Room can be hot and stuffy without air conditioning. (2) Some ants in room.
Nice garden and pool, good breakfast. The room was cold, the heating was loud and inefficient.
No storagge room
Well equipped, comfortable rooms with good lighting. clean, quiet and well placed for our trip.
tranquility, size of room
i loved the hotel. my only complaint is that it costs 20 euro per person to use the pool. lovely hotel, great area
Very nice staff, excellent rooms. The SPA had very restrictive hours. The breakfast should be better in order to keep up with the rest.
perfect location for exploring Cianti, palazzo fully renovated with all amenities, everything in high quality level,we would like to come back !
This hotel is secluded and quiet. The rooms are extremely well appointed and the staff is courteous and helpful. Internet access is free. Parking is convenient with a large lot that is much less challenging than most European hotle lots. The parking lot is outside the city wall about 200 meters from the hotel. There is a loadng zone for guests in front of the hotel. The hotel is a bit removed from restaurants. The town is very hilly and walking to restaurants is a good workout. There is one restaurant about 100 meters from the hotel.
We like garden, a lot of space for kids to play, pool, nice restaurant by the pool. Breakfast was excellent. No
Professional staff, beautiful surroundings, great breakfast, good location near Siena.
quiet location, beautiful environment, delicious food, elegant furnishings of the room no internet connection in the room; long waiting time for a too big snack
Nice place. Restaurant service was nonorganized and poor. The road to the hotel was bad.
This is a wonderful property, located in Tuscany, near Siena, Florence and in the heart of the Chianti wine region. The staff was friendly, the food was great and the ambiance perfect
The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The staff was exceptional. Our every wish was fulfilled. I can not say enough about the hotel, staff and our stay. We absolutely loved it! To explore Tuscany you do need a car.
Great setting and beautiful grounds. restaurant service for evening meals was terrible. We never returned after the first night.
Rolando at the front desk - sweet man! Tried to be so helpful. The pair of golden retrievers were precious too.
Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere
Beautiful settings, nice rooms and very nice grounds The hotel seems to cater mainly to functions. We stayed 2 nights and due to 3!! different functions in two days, it was not possible to either dine outside by the pool or use the terrace. Guests were not given any option but had to sit inside although it was almost 30 degrees outside!! Also, no effort was put into the buffet for house guests. No decoration, nothing. All the efforts were put into functions (Friday, Nissan and Walt Disney, Saturday night, wedding). If the hotel wishes to cater to large functions then it should have seperate facilities to do this and not at the cost of the hotel guests. Many guests were annoyed and outraged, especially Saturday night.
The buidling and atmosphere and friendliness of staff - we also upgraded our room to one overlooking the old town which was much nicer than the "superior room" we had booked which was very dark and quite plain. Too close to a busy main road and dogs barking all night. Also the restaruant was not open in the evenings and there was no room service - there were also no clear directions on web site or actual signage on the road from Sienna so we drove past etc
Nice atmosphere. Relaxing. For people who like to have a quiet hotel and not crowded. The breakfast was very basic. Not a 4 star hotel quality.
Nice gardens and pool This hotel is over promoted and does not live up to the claims made in its marketing. It is located on the edge of the town and is definitely not within walking distance of town as claimed. It is also not a 4 star property, more a like 3 star. Prperty is over priced and does not offer good value for money.
The staff were charming and very helpful. Very pleasant setting. Pool and gardens were lovely. Breakfast and restaurant excellent. Our room (#401, in one of the newer outbuildings) was a bit dark -- particularly the bathroom. The furniture (bed, sofa) could have been more comfortable.
This is a converted monastery that was built in the 10th century or earlier. It is an amazing hotel. Service is great and the rooms and facilities are very nice.
The place in general , swimming pool
The room was over two floors, a fantastic amount of space. Nothing, the room was excellent.
Quiet accomodation ,fair price for fair room. The facility "decor" is unique but something is missing for the ambiance. Maybe low frequentation that night. The dinner at the hotel restaurant was not up to our expectation. Limited amount of client (3 or 4 tables) probably account for quality of food, which was fair. Wine was just a little over price but service was good.
The location is v.good - short driving distances to San Gimignano, Siena, Monteriggioni, & Volterra. Hotel is on the outskirts of town, but still reasonable walking distance to main centre of Colle di Val D'Elsa. The staff are all very pleasant & helpful. Only very minor things like lack of 1 or 2 ameniites in the bathroom (eg tissues)
It was a super location in the heart of Tuscany. Buses to Sienna and Florence are just up the road and a great cafe and restaurant are across the road. The Hotel had a very relaxed feel and excellent outdoor surroundings/pool. Breakfast was 15 euros per person and very overpriced for what it was. The main bar area felt souless and we saw no-one use it.
friendly clean quite
Good location between Sienna and Florence
Convinient location, good breakfast
Good location, good staff, well located for my needs (cycle trip) and very reasonable price for the quality.
The hotel was in a good location but had a bit of a hostel feel to it. The staff was very helpful though and fluent in English, which was a plus.
location, good breakfast buffet small parking. Need to use public 10min walk
friendly and helpful staff uncomfortable bathroom
It is a nice hotel with excellent location in the center of a wonderful small town. Staff can speak English very well.
Staff courtesy, ample breakfast buffet
good location, good breakfast, especially coffe have to argue with receptionist after 7 hours long drive, because they booked 2 rooms, but I just booked one and then modified booking, bathroom
If you are looking for a small paradise on a mountain, you wil find it right there. Very very quiet and staffs were awesome. Breakfats was excellent!!!! Just one thing that there is no lunch/dinner available anymore.
We were pleased just to be there. It was some signs of previous leaking on the ceiling, not bad at all, I just see certain details more than most of us. There is a big bed with two mattresses on he top instead of one, little inconvenience, just as about everywhere in 3 star accommodations in Toscany.
Our apartment in Residenza d'Epoca Torre dei Serviti was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Bathroom is a bit small, but nothing to fuss about. The tower looks really impressive, view on San Gimigniano. Staff was very helpful, nice breakfast - excellent coffee, decent selection of foods. Definitely worth choosing. Casole d'Elsa is a charming place, very quiet and tuscan style. Great restaurant nearby the hotel with its own enoteca, great selection of local winen and delicious food.
Beautiful old tower, lots of charm and character, spacious rooms, friendly personnel, good breakfast. Decoration a little bit outdated, small bathroom.
Excellent staff and the B&B has been recently renovated to a very a high standard. I would certainly recommend this B&B.There was an excellent breakfast available
Beautiful location, huge, nicely designed and convenient rooms, great surroundings. Amazing view of the Elsa valley from the window, perfect place for a romantic retreat. Very good value for money too. If you stay on the first floor, you may be awaken by noises from the reception.
Spacious, historic room and freedom to come and go
The situation was beautiful with good local facilities, great views and convenient for touring.
near other sightseeings. relatively cheap.
Being moved to room 5 for the last night. A lovely light room with wonderful views and a reasonable sized bathroom. The instant coffee initially supplied for breakfast. The bathroom mat (not needed and appeared dirty) and our very dark bedroom (suite for 4 nights).
Conveniently located. Provides many options for travelers. Close to Sienna and Florence for those that want to visit these cities; however, is in the country so is convenient for trekkers.
The hotel is in a walled Tuscany hill town that is very quaint and charmming. N/A
Comforatable rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant terrace with garden and pool. Was surprised at first that the hotel had no restaurant, but plenty of restaurants on adjacent square so this was no problem.
We liked the whole package! The hotel is beautiful, the staff (including the owners) were very nice and helpful. The Hotel is located in the very center of the mini medieval town of Monteriggioni!
Beautiful location in the hills of Tuscany. Close to several medieval cities to visit and vineyards for wine tasting. Good restaurant (not attached to hotel but close). Staff was very accomodating and spoke fluent English.
The hotel's building was very unique and different making for a memorable experience. The room and en-suite were clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was fine and the hotel staff were more than happy to provide information about surrounding wineries and places to see. The hotel was well situated between San Gimignano and Siena and the Chianti area could be easily travelled to by car.
Very nice hotel the staff were very pleasant, helpful. Good price, very nice breakfast. Quiet, nice location.
Nice quiet location just a few km from Monteriggioni. Everything was great, but there is no restaurant at CB just breakfast so you have to book the village restaurant.
Everything. The place was set in beautiful countryside with stunning views. It was rustic and charming. The staff were delightful , friendly and helpful. It was peaceful and I loved it. No
Quiet area, easy to get to by car, friendly and helpful.
Although there was no employee in the hotel after 10 pm, the staff was very kind and friendly. Good Breakfast, however there was no orange juice in the last morning. There was no employees in the hotel after 10 p.m.. My room was in the attic, and there was a big stair to get there (I had three big baggages, as my wife and I were in Italy for 15 days). There was an opened pack in the wardrobe with old sliced bread (ughhhhh...). There was a sauna, but we would have to pay to use it! Wi-fi internet didn´t work. Not really a castle, but a big house with a cold water pool in the field.
Lovely view from the pool and breakfast terrace. Good selection for breakfast and friendly staff. Great value for money.
This was the most beautiful Tuscan Hotel. Our room was delightful - comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good, too. The village was very small, but the one restaurant was excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. It would be helpful to have a detailed map on the website. We rang the hotel and were given clear directions. But it is not in Sovicille - as the address suggests - but rather approx 8km from the town.
This is a beautifully restored Tuscan Hotel - very sympathetically done with a lovely terrace and swimming pool area. The rooms and bathrooms are very well appointed and the"Superior Room " which we had was very spacious and comfortable. All the staff were extremely helpful and could not have made us more welcome. A very relaxing quality place to stay. Nothing
The rural setting
Whilst travelling around Tuscany and Umbria we had one night's accommodation. This B&B provides excellent value for money. The rooms are large but sparse, the lounges, terraces and pool area are excellent. Breakfast was enjoyed on the terrace outside. There is an excellent restaurant in the small village (200 yards) which the staff kindly booked us a table for. It is also local to Siena and San Guiminano. We would definitely return and would recommend to anyone
Location, staff (Daphne was great), pool
We liked the service at the hotel. Once we arrived to the hotel very hungry and asked whether there was any food. Although, it was already to late to order from the restaurant, nevertheless, they offered us pie from their kitchen with tea. But generally, the hotel does not have restaurant, but there is delivery subject to prior order. We were given a very large room with the direct exit to the terrace, which was very good, but the room did not have bath, which is not so good.
Excellent hotel, situated in a beautiful enviroment. Good services from the staff.
the location snack dinner was not available on the terrace, the directions signs were not adequate or visible
Liked the terrace, the swimming pool, breakfast outdoors on the patio, the countryside setting, and the pizzeria 15 minutes walk away
Location, staff, facilities the whole thing
Beautiful location, nice pool, easy to get to, nice facilities, pleasant staff. maintenance, room cleaning not up to standard.
Lovely location - quiet and picturesque. Good breakfasts. Spacious rooms, and nice showers. Free wireless service. Nothing!
Beautiful setting, great pool and friendly staff. To improve - staff that spoke better english, rooms are really dark (need better lighting) and the air con didnt work properly
Lovely rural location - very relaxing - staff very helpful It may be an idea to have an internet facility for guests.
The setting was even more beautiful than we expected. The staff was exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful and the hotel was pure Tuscany.
Very nice place to stay. Nice pool, friendly people!
Beautiful location very peaceful, excellent facilites, staff very helpful. We had a hire car when we were in the area, which we found very useful, some nice local resturants, but only one really in walking distance of the hotel. Accommodation highly recommended.
The location in the countryside suited us perfectly. we were to stay two nights, but managed to stay for four. Breakfast on the terrace was a delight. We had a car and the commute to Siena was only 10 mins, nice to get out of the city at the end of the day. Great swimming pool, very welcome after 30+ degrees 'C' in town. The staff were excellent and could not be more helpfull. We will come back again. gsm
Very informal atmosphere in beautiful and peaceful countryside with an incredible view. The apartment was very spacious, well appointed and comfortable. We had a problem with the hot water heater which was quickly fixed. No, we loved the hotel.
A traditional residence in the magnificent countryside of Tuscany. Comfortable accomodation and cosy atmosphere. Very helpful staff. Definetely recomended!!!! Having a car is a necessity. -
The area is beautiful! Borgo Al Cerro is close to some wonderful cities to visit. It is also very quiet and peaceful. The apartment was clean and larger than expected. It's not as "kid-friendly" as we expected. My son pulled a piece of furniture over on top of him. The couches were also very uncomfortable to sit on and the cushons slid off easily. Both kids and Mommy fell off the couch onto the tile floor. The pool is not fenced in so you must watch small children at all times outside.
Great rooms in beautiful surroundings and the pool and playground is great for kids and adults. Nope, I would go back tomorrow.
The hotel rooms were clean on arrival . The hotel is very isolated .Even though it over the hill you will need a car to accesss . 4 to 5 km by road & no taxi service in area .
The views were phenomenal in every direction. The hotel is centrally located for visiting vineyards and olive groves in the Chianti region.
comfort, good nature and view around, good place to take trips to historical cites in Tuscane
The fact that it is a family hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff in the center of Tuscany by the countryside, near a picturesque medieval small village. Cleaning, noise from the upper floors, internet availability throughout the rooms, the fact that in our bathroom the heater was not working
Helpful staff, very pleasant location and surroundings, very good breakfast (excellent cappucinos!), good-sized room. Shower arrangement in the bathroom (a curtain creating three sides of the shower) is not ideal as it's impossible not to make the bathroom floor wet, but it's not a big problem. We thought dinner was OK but not special, even for the reasonable charge made.
