good location to gas lamp. Short uber ride.
Bathrooms are filthy. Beds are tiny. Overall grimy feel. Loitering out front
$40 gets you a stay here. There is no central heating, but they will give you a heater if u ask. If they run out of heaters you are SOL. I stayed in a private room twice and it was clean. The showers are shared privatly. Bad lighting so can't tell if they are clean. View and location are actually nice. WiFi works. Elevator is about to break. If you can afford it stay somewhere else.
2 little issues One some junky guys were doinf a lot of noise At night some Asian guy open my room dorr by accidente so all the keys work for all the rooms
I disliked everything it was to small not even a shower or bath I asked to have it cancelled i was told it was cancelled to later find out it wasn't and it charged me anyway.Cas
Would not stay again !
This place was absolutely infested with bedbugs. My girlfriend and I slept there for 6 hours and were covered in bites that remain more than a week later. This places is terrible, they knowingly rent these rooms.
Location was great the outside of the building is historic looking.
The staff was nice but unprofessional . This building was built in 1924 and was the ymca for army and navy and it still looks worse than that. It's totally a place not outfitted to be called a hotel at all the rooms are tiny with no air conditioning they don't even make your bed the put them prison style on top off the bare mattress. Carpets gross furniture old cheap TV remote covered in crap. Bathroom outside of room with the toilet clogged . They need a complete rehaul.
Great for a quick stay in Down town San Diego. No A/C but none is needed this time of year in August it cools down at night! Has wifi and bed and desk .
Get your monies worth.
Nothing too much to like about this place except the location.
Shared bathrooms but oh well. Had to switch rooms because our fan light didn't work. Wouldn't recommend this hotel. And the elevators are really old and definitely had to hold my breath while inside hoping it wouldn't drop!
Everything. Spend a little extra and stay somewhere that doesn't have bedbugs
They refuneed my money.
I tried three rooms and then left. Bed bugs in room 1. Roaches in room 2. Got some bags, the keep them at the front counter, to cover my stuff for room three but decided to leave instead. The staff is nice but the facility is terrible.
Looked like a hotel for drug addicts.
can't beat the location and the wonderful homeless people that smell like shit out front for some transvestites with morning wood and 5 o'clock shadows
Security would have saw the customers the riff raff that comes in off the street
For the 4th of July holiday, this apartment was a good cheap stay. It's got a very different feeling than regular hotels in that the bathrooms are shared/communal ones and not that clean. The rooms are very tiny and uncomfortable. Makes you feel like you're in a prison cell. But for the cheap price, as long as you are rolling solo and minimize the amount of time you're in the room, then it's a good deal since you are walking distance to the clubs in Gaslamp Quarter and the Horton Plaza.
The location is great and its really cheap. Staff was nice enough, when I called ahead and requested a mini fridge in my room they said they don't have many but would put in my request. When I arrived they had one in there so I liked that.
I wouldn't take a shower here, Communal bathroom showers are moldy and smell funny. If you absolutely must shower make sure you bring flip flops to wear in there. I only stayed for one night so I skipped the shower and used my trusty dry shampoo. Only stay here if your trip is super short, and you don't plan on spending any time in your little cubical of a room.
The price is unbeatable and the location is great. I knew what I was getting into and the ratio of dollars to value was right for my needs. It's located right downtown, so you're near most things of interest.
It's in terrible disrepair. Very shabby. I've stayed there twice now, a year apart, and one of their two elevators has been out of order the entire time. The room is almost comically small. For the money, though, what did you expect?
It was not clean enough.
It wasn't costly and was smack dab in the middle of the city. Many restaurants were walking distance, as well as the ocean. The zoo was about a 5-10 minute drive.
Almost closet sized and kind of dirty. Not that I expected much more for the price but I don't see this being a positive note. Bathrooms were communal (but single with locks).
The price and location can't be beat.. it is in the middle of Downtown right near the trolley exit. My son and I needed a room for one night where we basically just slept so the room was a great value for this purpose. Yes, if you compare this hotel to a 4 or 5 star place it will not rate well, but for a $67 room for one night on a holiday weekend; it can't be beat (many hotels charge a 3 night minimum for a holiday weekend). The people working there and the clientele were very friendly and professional. It was a great experience for my son and I.
The room was small, and comfortable, but nothing extra. The bunk bed creaked a little and of course that bathrooms were private, but shared & down the hall.
Cant beat the interior decoration.
Because the building is so old, you notice some wear and tear in the rooms.
the bathrooms were pretty bad
The location the employee was so nice.
the cockroaches, the eviction notice for one of the rooms.
Great location in downtown on Broadway. Makes your trip walkable. Easy bus access to and from airport. Cheap price for a hotel in a big city.
Bathrooms are not in the room and you need the room key to get in. I could only get into 1 of the bathrooms with my electronic key. This would have been a problem if there were more people staying at the hotel. They only gave me 1 key even though there were 2 of us. Elevator is old and slow.
Worse than the worst dorm or barracks I've ever had the misfortune of staying in. I felt like Tobias Beecher in Oz while I stayed here.
Convenient location with everything nearby, restaurants, bars, mall and trolley.
The price and location.
The bathrooms, wetness from the showers near the toilets. Also water wasn't warm in the morning.
24 hour reception, everyone could speak English, venting machines at second floor with reasonable prices,
Only bed, cupboard and table in the room - a chair would have been nice in order to use the table ... No AC - but a tiny ventilator at the ceiling that only moved the warm air around. Elevator out of order - and from the notes on the doors it was obvious that the elevator didn't work for quite some time. One working elevator for this size hotel/hostel is simply not enough!
