I was impressed by the styling and attention to detail at the Griffon. This very old building felt quite modern, and my room reminded me so much of my stays in Europe. The multinational staff was very friendly without being forced.
The HVAC needs serious attention. While the flow and temperature were fine, there was an annoying mustiness throughout the building. No doubt an effect of being so close to the bay, but a thorough cleaning is in order.
The location was perfect for our 10 mile run Sunday morning. You have a great view of the bay bridge. The restaurant next to the lobby was really good.
Location very good for the main route to both shops nad the wharf.
Room was very small and had an internal view ie a wall
Great location, nicely decorated rooms, very nice staff. The valet-guy ran a block and a half to get me a cab! Free WiFi. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Bed too soft
Location, free internet, breakfast included
Worst room in the hotel - inside room with a "view" of the A/C and heating ducts, constant noise from ducts, room was dark, staff not attentive - front desk failed to have my car brought out, valet parking attendant had to be asked to park car - he was more interested in talking to the cab drivers and smoking, no "privacy sign" in room, charge for use of YMCA other hotels in the area do not, housekeeping failed to turn off the alarm clock, breakfast room disorganized - could not sit anywhere to watch the TV they had on in the bar area. I tried this hotel for something different in San Francisco, I will not be returning.
The room was extremely small and poor value. We had no outlook, the window was on to a wall some inches away. The floorboards above creaked and disturbed our sleep several times each night and early morning. The hotel was apparently full, they could not cope with the number of residents and the breakfast items ran out. We complained and the staff on duty were unsymathetic.
