We spent 4 nights at the Doubletree before going on a Panama Cruise and we enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is located in a quiet area but close walking to restaurants, etc. The surroundings are lovely and also it's very convenient to the docks for people going on a cruise. Another bonus is that the hotel supplies transporation to the docks when you ready to board the ship. All in all staying at the Doubletree was a very pleasant experience and my husband and I would highly recommend it.
This hotel does not transport to Carnival Cruise lines terminal in Long Beach. I was misinformed when I called Doubletree San Pedro and asked about shuttle transportation. I was told that they provided it as a complementary service but failed to tell me that this did not include Carnival Cruise Lines (which I was sailing on!) I found the service efficient but not friendly. The dining room staff was very friendly and quick to resolve a problem I had with their white rice (which was terrible!). They resolved this matter quickly. The room was comfortable but the TV needed replacing as it had a terrible picture. It's a clean and safe location but not a 5 star hotel.
We had a very nice 1 night stay at the Double Tree in San Pedro, CA. We ate in the resturant and the food was quite tasty. It was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The front desk people were very helpful and got the room ready for us before the designated check in time, as we arrived early. I loved their cookies! 4 thumbs up out of 5!!!
WE STAYED THERE THE EVENING BEFORE A CRUISE AND LOVED IT...IT WAS BEAUTIFUL...SERVICE WAS GREAT AND WE LEFT OUR CAR THERE UNTIL WE ARRIVED AND WERE PICKED UP BY THE HOTEL VAN. IT REALLY WAS A NICE START TO A GREAT VACATION.
The rooms were nice. The food in the restuarant was very good. The view of the marina was lovely. The staff was courtesy and helpful. The only downside is that the pool, although heated, was outside and it was not quite warm enough to utilize. The fitness facility was stocked with good equipment. I would recommend staying here.
I actually stayed at the wrong place. Our cruise was leaving from Long beach instead of San Pedro, Ca. The hotel provided transportation to Long Beach. which is not their standard procedure. We enjoyed our stay at a very lovely place.
We took the Super Shuttle from LAX. First stop was another hotel. We were in awe of the people getting out at this stop because the hotel was so 'rich' looking. The first stop seemed so 'tight' because the hotel was embedded in the city. We didn't know what to expect at Doubletree. Next stop was the Doubletree San Pedro. Oh my gosh, we felt so lucky! Everything was perfect. The room was clean and well appointed. The balcony was roomy and refreshing. The weather was fabulous. The hotel shuttle took up to a restaurant nearby and picked us up. The morning of our cruise, we have a wonderful buffet breakfast. I would recommend this place just because of the beautiful views. Looking out at the marina was breathtaking plus we saw our cruise ship arrive the next morning! Just try to get a room with a balcony.
Room not ready an arrival. Room not cleaned the next day until after several phone calls. Noisy party on balcony next door not quieted until after phone call. Abt 130 AM.
Hotel was nice with a good restaurant. Fun place to walk around with a park close by. Great shuttle to cruise line.
If you have a boat, this is the perfect place to stay. People are nice. Service was great. Location is a bit out of the way to cruise around LA, but great if you are just staying around Long Beach.
In short, the hotel presents itself as an upper scale water front stay, but is in fact worn down and dirty. The rooms and buildings are showing their age, and have TERRIBLE up keep. Wost of all is the completely dishonest and apathetic staff. The front desk manager tried to at first give me a completely different room than what I had reserved and pre-paid for, then tried to give me a sub standard room. When told that I wanted the room I paid for, I was told that despite being 30 minutes past check in time, my room wasnt ready. I came back later in the evening and got a room of the type I had reserved. It was in poor repair, with exposed wires and loose electrical outlet covers, dirty bathroom, and stank of cigarette smoke despite being a non-smoking room. The next morning there was NO WATER. When I called to ask what was going on, I was essentially told 'tough luck'. I will spare you the saga of trying to deal with management and corporate. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
As I sit in my run down room with no hot water for the second day in a row, I feel the need to warn any potential guests of this facility to not be swayed by the great views of the marina. That's really the only redeeming factor for this poor excuse for a Hilton property. The furniture in the rooms is shabby , dirty and in need of replacement. I do not have a desk chair, but a chair from the banquet facility. No hot water for two days and a staff that could give a flip. I stayed T this hotel last month and I had no airconditioning. I will not be coming back.
The staff was friendly and as accommodating as possible and there weren't bed bugs. Although the immediate neighbors seemed quainte, the city felt a little shady. That obviously can't be helped, but I would have liked to have known that coming in. The parking was extremely tight and precarious. The outside of the rooms looked cozy, like a little nook of college dorms, but once inside all the warm, cozy feelings went away. Our room smelled like mildewy, moldy fruit. The fridge gave out an awful smell when it was opened. There was a used q-tip under the bed skirt. I never took my shoes off because the carpet looked so questionable. I was so grossed out I wouldn't let my baby crawl anywhere except on the bed. The towels in the bathroom were not completely clean and some were damp. There is no AC and the windows were open and unable to be closed. Because of that, my husband had a hard time going to sleep because of the neighbors and noise keeping him awake as well as being concerned for our safety. I have never given a review online before this, but felt this deserved one since most of the others are so positive. I feel bad saying unfavorable things because I don't want to harm a non-chain, privately owned business, especially when the manager on duty was so nice. However, this place was definitely not worth the money and I would never stay there again.
We enjoyed the location near Cabrillo Beach and Point Fermin Park. We could also walk to the Korean Bell Tower. In the next block are two diners serving breakfast and lunch to many locals. The Pacific Diner and The Lighthouse Cafe, which serves home cooking for dinners as well. The motel is on the main bus route. We missed having a coffee maker in our room but quickly adjusted by picking up early coffee at the diner. There was a microwave and a refrigerator in our room and if we had requested a coffeemaker, the hospitable staff would probably have supplied one.

Welcome and hospitality. Ocean was amazing and there was nothing he would not do for us to make our stay happy. inadequate parking for the hotel guests.
The space, and confort. With only a couple of blocks walk to the beach, the location is great. Corner store for last minute needs. Restaurant is a few steps away. take that morning walk to feel the ocean breeze. One of the best economical places i have stayed in. Will be back soon. Liked everything, only thing that kinda bother us was the actual people on the room next to our. So cant hold the hotel responsible for this. Guy found girl cheating or something, hell broke lose at about 3am. Could hear all the fighting and screams, wanted to go and punch someone so i could get back to sleep.
Guy at front was helpful getting us clean sheets and pillowcases after we complained. Dirty sheets, dirty room, smelly, gross.
