In the private rooms, the Wifi is quite good. Location was good too.
There were two cockroaches in our room, one of them ran over the bed when we came home after dinner. After seeing that, it’s impossible to have a good night of sleep.
- the staff are friendly - it's one of the cheapest places to stay in ambergris caye - location is good, really near to a place called Neri's which provides super cheap food! - they let me keep my belongings in the locker in the dorm room past check out time
- The beds are very close together so little to no privacy - 1/2 showers was like a hose but the one that worked was good and hot! - People were constantly peeping into our dorm room, once when we came back there was people laying on our beds and then they left the room when we came back in but unsure what that was about
Place dirty, no air conditioning,
Our stay at Amelia Guesthouse was for only one night, but it was comfortable and pleasant. The room had a fan + air conditioning, was compact but met our needs and was good for the price we paid, which was the most reasonable offer in the area. The location was good, just 5 minutes walk from both ferry ports (from Caye Caulker/to Chetumal) and walking distance to good restaurants.
The only issue was when we checked out early (around 7am) in time to catch a water taxi to Chetumal, there was no one in reception to take the key - we felt bad knocking continuously on the door but had no choice as there was no safe deposit box/space for the key. It would be our recommendation for the hotel to install either a deposit box or a safe place to leave to key to avoid this problem.
Friendly staff, nice showers, nice people and good value all within walking distance of the main island sights. Faisal even drove me to book a snorkelling trip and there was a reasonably priced laundry service.
When you stay at Amelia Guest House in San Pedro, you'll be in a shopping district, within a 5-minute walk of Belize Barrier Reef and The Gallery of San Pedro Ltd. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
