Location and staff were very helpful
The staff were great, the location was very pretty My non smoking room had a very very very strong cigarette smell. I had to sleep with the window open just to feel comfortable.
The vilage and the enviroment not the hotel Contrary to your descriptition there is not a swimming pool and the wi- fi didin't work
nice family hotel, nice family room
Very good position in a picturesque village near to Freiburg and Basel. Owner and staff very welcoming and friendly. Easy free parking near to the hotel. Spacious and clean room with a nice view on the countryside. Last but not least the restaurant which propose a nice traditional regional food.
Fabulous location and friendly staff..Great family hotel
Friendly staff, nice view
I loved the views, the close proximety to the city center and old chapel.
Rural and authentic atmosphere, excellent restaurant
The staff were very professional, friendly and relaxed at the same time. The hotel restaurant/café is also of a very high standard and offers a very wide selection for all tastes.
Very friendly staff Did not sleep very well because bed was rather small and squeaky
Location was great - used hotel for our base to travel through the Black Forest. Breakfast included in hotel rate. Most of our encounters with staff were positive, however, limited as we were away from hotel touring. Delicious breakfast. Charming small town. Hotel located on main road, easy to find. Sufficient parking. Room comfortable. Beautiful view from our bedroom balcony/deck. No complaints.
Same people didn't speak englich
The view from our balcony was terrific! Staff does not speak english, except for one employee who by the way was very nice. The pool closes too early.
Staff very kind, good location
very good room, spacious, with my balcony overlooking the river/forest. a bit out of the way, but a travel pass is provided, and I think on the whole worth the extra bit of travel out of Freiburg to have the beautiful surroundings.
The hotel was easy to find, and in a lovely little village - central to many Black Forest excursions. Breakfast was wonderful! Our kids enjoyed the indoor pool as well. For a family with younger children, we found the hotel's restaurant to be on the pricey side (but this was true of all the restaurants in the village) - got the impression that it's not really a family hotel, though the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Lovely staff and breakfast
Two nigths stay-over on our return trip to DK, excellent restaurant and reasonable prices at the restaurant
We used the hotel as a base for day trips throughout southern Germany and Switzerland. The hotel was convenient to many wonderful places and a great place to come back to after a long day. The staff was "extremely" helpful and accommodating.
Rooms are comfortable and clean. The landlady also run a restaurant that is very good value for money: we enjoyed delicious local dishes.l
Had a lovely room in this quiet village in the Black Forest region of Germany. Great hub for taking day trips by car, bus, bike or for hiking in the area. They have a restaurant available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The owner and resident chef prepares wonderful traditional German food with that extra flair. Try his homemade ice cream and desserts for an extra treat. Be aware that the few shops in the village are closed on Tuesdays.
lovely dining room - proximity to Freiberg no
Everyhing The food at the restaurant is not good enough
Nice hotel looking like a big "chalet". Good rooms and good service. The road next to the hotel is a bit noisy although it does not have a high traffic.
The hotel is quiet and pleasant. The rooms need fans in the warmer season--AC is not necessary, but a fan would have made our stay more comfortable. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is clean and the restaurant is quite nice. No fans in the room, but that's it.
Very nice room with balcony. The food was exelent. Surroundings nice as well.
Incredibly good food, can strongly be recommended. Very nice staff. Large comforable rooms with view of the hills in the Black Forest. Near great sigh seeings.
Nice hotel with parking facility and very good breakfast, wifi-internet access, very nice room
the family, the location everithing was excellent; I only need a refrigerator
good location , clean , good breakfast No air conditioning - not easy in hot days
Courteous professional staff in a family run hotel who made us feel extremely welcome. Excellent food. No.
it really felt like I was in the black forest.. a wonderful old world country experience. The food was superb and I loved the big fat friendly orange cat. He reminded me of mine. just the fact that it was closed when I came back for a few more days
Very nice Guesthouse, we had a large room with a view on the curch. The restaurant is an excellent value for the money.
Nice atmosphere and location. Friendly staff and nice modern rooms with a nice view. Good food (At least the night menu after 22 and breakfast) The church bells in the morning... :)
There were a number of things; the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the room, quality of the restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay.
Very nice hotel, good food and wine and friendly staff
A traditional Black Forest timber building festooned with geraniums. Bedroom furniture is painted in traditional Bavarian style. Breakfast was an excellent buffet. Dinner not taken because the restaurant was closed the night we stayed but the owners recommended an excellent local one. The nearby Church clock which one reviewer commented on is silenced during the night.
The hotelstaff was very kind, we feld at home
We were extremely happy with the guesthouse. The innkeeper was very nice and spoke English, which was very helpful since we are from the USA. This is a great place to explore the Black Forest from. Their restaurant was open for dinner and was gourmet, which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were spacious and clean. We would definitely recommend this location!
We enjoyed three nights at this excellent hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Newly furnished and very clean room with international satellite TV. Friendly staff. Good restaurant. Very good value for money. Only a detail : would have appreciated coffee making facilities in the room.
Family atmosphere in a relaxed environment. Beautiful rooms, each with its own personality. The renovation is just the right mix of old German country barn with new modern materials. A great eclectic mix kept very simple. It really is a unique place. The breakfast and restaurant are absolutely fantastic. None.
We were caught in a heavy snow storm in late March '09 (10"; 25cm). Arrived late night after driving the black forest mountains to it being closed. The manager was extremely nice and made sure to find us dinner which required him to walk to his home and make us sandwiches from his fridge as we were .the first guests of the year due to the high levels of snow they have been receiving. Food in their restaurant was phenomenal when I ate there last year and was disappointing I could not have enjoyed it again this trip, but it is more or less the weathers fault. (highly recommend wild venison with local wine as it will be a treat you will never forget)
The gracious people at the desk and restaurant. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
the service was good and the restaurant (dinner) was also good. the size of the double room was not enough, actually too small
Helpfulness of staff even though English was not a 2nd language for most staff and our German was poor. Owner/chef helped out with menu and in end cooked us something off menu because we said we fancied chicken - food was excellant
The location, the large selection of menu dishes, professional management.
Wait Staff in the resteraunt were very profesional, friendly, and prompt. The food was very good as well. No shower cutain
i liked the location, close to Friburg. i didn't like the reception, the smell in the hotel.
A relaxing and informal atmosphere. Ideal base for hiking trips around the Black Forest, Konus Card a huge Bonus !
The location of the hotel is excellent. It is right in the little downtown and you can walk easily to everything around. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is so accessable being in the hotel. Nice to have an elevator especially traveling with an elderly person and lots of luggage. The one thing we had trouble with was parking. There was a conference going on and we had to park farther away than we liked. They should have some spots reserved for hotel guests only. Also, it would have been nice to have some options on the menu with a bit lighter food choices.
Very new and clean place. The breakfast was sufficient.
Central position, quiet pedestrian area. Good restaurant and good breakfasts
Hotel was really nice, small and cosy. The room was big and we had nice view from a balcony. (Some had only a common terace.) I didn't think that the service was the best thing there. We got everything but let's say "with german efficiency" and it left us little cold. The breakfast was ok and you got your stomach full, but I have had better one with that price...
Very well situated, next to walking trails and very close to centre of Glottertal. Spacious room. Overall a very nice hotel. The only thing was that in the morning the hot water in the shower was erratic.
A great hotel, quiet ambiance, beautiful nature and very friendly staff
Fantastic hotel in a fabulous Black Forest village with wonderful views. Fabulous breakfast with lovely German bread and fresh food. Good sized room, bathroom fine, parking ok despite saying that you have to book. Amazing views, totally peaceful, a hotel definately to go back to. Can be tricky to find as set back from main road, no uk tv channels but you don't really need the tv. Could do with a kettle in the room like uk hotels.
Excellent quiet location - set in vineyards on the edge of the forest, yet just a short walk from a popular village centre with tourist info, shops and choice of other places to eat/drink. Beer garden/restaurant terrace has great views over the valley, as do most rooms. Good buffet breakfast. 2 of our 3 rooms were very good - large, airy and light. Good bathrooms with first-rate showers. Our daughter's single room was small and rather dark.
Fantastic country side! Friendly service. Excellent restaurant. Got more then pay!
People were very kind and the food was really good.
owners didnt give a damn about foreign guest. Very unhelpful in every way. Made you feel like an intruder
Excellent restaurant. None
Quiet environment next to the vineyards
Place was nice in the middle of the forest and with a very nice environment. Perfect to someone that has a car and does not care if it is outside the town. The staff was nice and there were restaurant with good food nearby The hotel missed soap in the bathroom, otherwise it was good relation price/quality
A wonderful hotel, everything was very very good!!! Very nice room, very clean, comfortable and furnished in a so pretty style. Good and fresh breakfast, friendly staff. The hotel is also located in a idilliac small town, near to Freiburg, in the Black Forest, ideal to visit them. Fantastic! Dankeshoen! I will come back again surely. Nothing, everything was very very good.
Located in a quiet village just a few kilometres from Freiburg, Hotel Schlossmühle is an ideal place for a stopover if you don't want the hassle of Freiburg itself. Reasonably priced, the room was spacious, with a large balcony overlooking a babbling brook, and the food was excellent. Parking and internet access were free.
We ate in the hotel in the evening and the food was excellent as was the breakfast. Helpful staff. Probably an unfair comment but we stayed in a heatwave (36C) and our large attic room was very hot.
Nice quiet room at the back of the hotel, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Wonderful setting and beautiful room with balcony. Dining terrace beside the stream, quiet and peaceful. Food delicious. No restaurant facility on Wednesday evening but good meal to be enjoyed in nearby hotel.
We had a lovely, very spacious room at the back of the hotel overlooking the little river with not one, but two balconies! The breakfast buffet was very good and the hotel was an old, very attractive, Black Forest style building. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the location. We had thought that we would be staying in a peaceful village in the Black Forest. Yes, it was a type of village but a very, very long one, stretching along the road for quite a way so that there didn't seem to be a real centre. Worse, the road going through (which the hotel was on) was very busy in the mornings and evenings which meant it was quite noisy. German friends of ours who stayed a night at the hotel had a bedroom at the front and said they found it difficult to sleep due to the traffic noise. Obviously this isn't the fault of the hotel but it does mean that we won't be going back again.
Peaceful setting....perfect for discovering 'The Black Forest Area'. The room (No1) was very comfortable and spacious and very good value for money. We were only passing through but a few more nights would have been very nice. Breakfast was superb and our hostess was delightful I'm unsure whether or not the Hotel Restaurant was open or not, so we ate at a superb hotel just up the road (albeit very expensive)
Comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast each day. The restauraunt was also very good. The staff was very accomodating. It helped that some could speak English. The mattresses were hard and a little uncomfortable.
This is a very pleasant hotel, nice location. Especially noteworthy is the breakfast, which consists of a wonderful display of very tasty items.
Clean and big room even such a low price.
The kindness of the staff was excellent. It appears to be family run with both mom and pop working side by side with the staff and paying careful attention to guests needs. The restaurant was a little pricey but served outstanding food in a charming room.
very nice and quiet location. Renovated room are great. Nice restaurant, nice food. Takes a bit too long time at the restaurant. only german TV channes
Good food. Free sauna. Free wifi (must register first). Staff in local dress which gives a cosy atmosfere. Close to the motorway and Freiburg (+-15km). On the picture of the hotel it looks like it's located in the plain quiet countryside. That is not the case. It's right beside the main road with lots a traffic. Luckily the hotel is well sealed against the outside noise. Got a backside room with view on a tree... I'm getting the idea that when you book trough booking.com that hotels will give you the backside rooms with the poorest view. Happened a few times.
- Room was Clean, Enough Parking places, Restaurant food was excelent, Friendly staff. - Rooms are outdated, Wireless internet doesn't work in the Room, Hot water was cold.
The hotel is excellent. The room was nice and very clean. The stuff were very nice.
Everything was fantastic, the room was really nice, breakfast excellent and staff really friendly.I would definately recommend it to everyone.
The personal attention even at the dinner and breakfast table, the great food, the view, the spacey rooms and the very acceptable price for the arrangement: just wonderful and great personnel!!!
Good typical black forest cuisine. Most if not all staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Pleasant atmosphere throughout. Good position for overnight stay returning to the UK from Austria. Comfortable room. Our room was at the back of the hotel. I would imagine that rooms at the front could be a little noisy, the road was quite busy.
The attention of the staff was really over standart and the dinner excellent
It is located in a farming village outside Freiberg with a forest with walking trails directly behind it. It is a functional clean hotel with a very good restaurant featuring local food and wine. It is probably a little overpriced.
I was a bit apprehensive about the hotel as there wasn't much information about the hotel and Glottertal in general on the Internet. To my relief and pleasant surprise, both the hotel and town did not disappoint me. Great base to explore the Black Forest region and the hotel is really good value for money. The staff are really friendly & helpful too.
Breakfast was excellent. Our room was very big and had a nice view. Hotel staff was also very friendly Room should be better cleaned. We were looking for an earring that had fallen down under the bed and could notice how dirty it was (carpet in the room)
The hotel is veru nice, clean and located in a beautiful area which is very calm!
Spacious and clean Nothing
the breakfast in the garden / the sweet under the roof room with panorama to the valley At the end of our first stay we were told by the land lord that we are going to recive another room for the same money but were not told that is no min. resamblance to the first room.On our second stay at the tobererhof we recived a ugly unfriendly huge room with unfriendly furniture , it was 10 pm when we arrived otherwise we were out . .
Location. Lovely and quiet. Very serene. No dining room. We arrived early evening but could not get a meal.
The room was very clean and the decoration really cozy. The hotel is nicely located and has a nice view of the hill and the vineyards. The bathroom was excellent: clean, with new facilities and spacious. Overall I am very happy for the choice of this hotel, and would definatelly recommend it to friends.
Something particularly special about this place - the staff couldn't do enough for you - the room was simple but lovely. Excellent value for money. Free rail pass into Freiburg or to Titisee was a bonus - station on the doorstep but no noise. A real gem.
The location is excellent for trips to Freiburg and the surrounding mountains and lakes. The guest pass which is included in the price allows free travel on all trains and busses within the entire county, and the train station is just outside the hotel with trains every half hour. The train takes about 15 min to Freiburg central. Food is very good as well. The building is right next to a very frequented road, but this is not really a problem and the building itself is quiet.
A charming and historic roadside Inn (Marie Antoinette is said to have stayed here). The hotel extends away from the road which is not obtrusive; charming ambience; the scenery and walks roundabout are lovely; food good; service pleasant; our room was large, almost a suite. There is even a tiny and beautiful c 1500 chapel in the grounds; and the tiny local train station (some free travel for guests) is 2 mins away. We would come again. It is possible that some rooms may be affected by road noise -- ours was not.
