We found the hotel and the surrounding areas to be visited to be in a perfect location. The restaurant also had great quality food and a superb staff working with you at all times. We were taken care of with the utmost of sincerity from everyone. Truly enjoyed our experience at Hotel Villa San Lucchese. A little hard to find but the views from the hotel were worth finding this special place.
The superior room was rather ordinary, but the view was great. The food and related service was quite good, especially breakfast. I enjoyed the pool. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the villa was very lovely and historical. We were glad we stayed there and not in Florence. The dinner menu during the week was limited.
Friendly staff, great breakfast and convenient location for touring the area.
The restaurant had awesome food, but the waiters were horrible.
a wonderful family run hotel in a lovely setting & beautiful grounds
Stylish hotel, situated on a great location (between Sienna and Florence), within reasonable distance of the main worth visiting spots of Toscany and close to town that offers good transport facilities. The hotel is on top of a hill thus offering nice scenic views) and has very good facilities. Suite was spacious and comfortable with stylish and comfortable furniture and well equipped (minibar, safe, flat screen TV) that offered great views over the surrounding hills. Breakfast was nice and common areas (garden, pool, lounge, breakfast area) attractive. Staff could not have been more helpful. Overall convenience of location, amenities and staff efficiency it represented exactly what my family and I wanted in all respects. All in all, it could not have been more perfect for us. Nothing in particular
It was much below expectations, and certainly not an 4 star hotel. A number of things were not functioning, and the staff was not even tryng to compensate it with friendliness. Dinner was also bad and overpriced. It is a pitty, because hotel is on very nice location, and it could represent great hub for Chianti visit. I would not go there again.
Beautiful villa ... clean room ... quiet Bed was really hard
We liked the personal service at the hotel, the history of the place and the beautiful surroundings. Location was also excellent for visits to neighbouring tourist attractions.
This charming hotel is situated in the beautiful hills of Tuscany with stunning views...There is an excellent restaurant attached to the hotel...
The food was excellant although the restaurant was a bit like a canteen with bright lighting.
I think it's a good opportunity to stay in a place close to one of the most important historic town in the world. It's a quite good opportunity not only for a family but for a business travel too.
Room was adequate size, clean with modern, pleasant decore. Bathroom plumbing worked perfectly with no 'surprises'.
Super for visiting Tuscany very helpful about local transport lovely bathroom(s) good breakfast terrace Forgetting to tell us that the restaurant would be shut on Sunday!
Very efficient stuff, fair restaurant. Unfortunately not a least one chair to sit on in the room. The rest is OK
Ease of access. Stores, restaurants nearby. Breakfast included. Free and easy parking. Hotel very rundown. Internet promised but none--absolutely none--available.
The accessibility from the Firenze-Sienna highway The first night one of the beds was broken, so they had to change the room. The 2 dinners we had at the hotel were so-so.
easy to find, very close to the highway very low quality breakfast
Location of the hotel, if you have a car and you want to visit Toscana, this is a perfect choice
Very good hotel situated between Firenze and Siena from where you can make trips to the beautiful Chianti area, Moteriggioni and San Gimignano. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful with advices.
you have the car this place is the best at good value!
Scenery, swiming pool, in the middle of vigniards Breakfast should be definately be improved
The hotel was in a nice countryside setting. The staff was not friendly or welcoming. It was a very uncomfortable stay because of the manners of the staff.
Glorious Tuscany views and off the beaten path. So relaxing. Never did figure out the heating controls so cool nights were very cool. Breakfast selections were few compared to other Italian overnight accomodations.
Ideal for staying in and enjoying the atmosphere in Lucca, in the heat of the old town and surounded by the shops and restaurants of the old city.
The view from our room was really beautiful and the furniture matched to the atmosphere of Tuscany. We also liked the cleanness of the room. However first it was really hard to find the hotel, we liked the location of the hotel, all the important cities were close and it was easy to reach them. Poor English knowledge of the staff, especially via phone, and the breakfast was a bit boring for 5 days.
Wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside, lovely pool and comfortable room. Ideal place to stay with a car to travel to explore local towns such as San Gimingnano.
The location was very nice. A very quiet and picturesque place for relaxing. Parking also available. About 25km to Siena but also close to access Volterra, Firenze, San Gimignano and the Chianti area. They changed sheets and towels every three days unless you asked for daily changing (10 euros additional). Breakfast was rather poor while breakfast and dinner hours were short (1,5 hour for breakfast and 1 hour for dinner). We tried to have dinner one night and only for that night we had to have made special reservation earlier that day (not that this was mentioned anywhere). The staff's english was quite poor. If my wife didn't speak italian I am not sure if I could get around.
Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff and wait staff. Great breakfast. Close to the town. Old environment with the comforts of today.
Very nice location and drive to the hotel. Easy to find and easy parking. Very authentic and "Tuscany-like". Quite simple, but good hotel with a nice owner.
A lovely well serviced hotel with complete old fashioned charm
the location' the friendly owner' the fppd
Location wonderful, buildings inspiring, owner very kind and helpful Breakfast uninteresting - it would be easy to improve. Breakfast room dark with curtains. Atmosphere among waiters far too formal. Rates for regular rooms excessive (we stayed in reasonably priced annex)
As there was nothing there, we only went for walk & rested. The villa was to out of the way, the food was below standard & so was the room. Not a 1 star let alone a 4 star.
lovely location Accomodation poor- damp room and damp bed. Restaurant was closed for evening dining. Breakfast poor. Service poor, no staff available overnight to help sort out problem with dampness.
I lliked the location, very romantic, beautiful place, and would go back there again, place to go if you want to chill out!
big room; very quiet; reserve covers in the cabinet (and believe me we needed them) were stinky (naphtaline) smell was so strong that we had a hard time to sleep... the hotel team provided fresh covers for the following night
Helpful and friendly staff. Prompt service. Clean, comfortable room. Pet-friendly. Good location for our needs.
nice staff, great location, good breakfeast [but i miss the procuetto secco we use to get] have stayed here a number of times. will be back next year i presume. i wish they would install air conditioning in the rooms along the main road to florence so you could close the windows at night. because it gets very noisey at night with the traffic, barking dogs and crowing roosters.
Italy's best breakfast, nice staff, great garden. This can be recommended strongly
the staff were very frindly and the room simple but clean and tidy and the bed comfortable. the room was noisy from other room activity above and to the side
Nice, friendly and cosy hotel in a small tuscanese town. Several good restaurants within walking distance and more reachable with a car, which is recommendable otherwise also. Parking available. Silent surroundings, churchbells distant, not disturbing. Good european meal, inexpensive. Very good hotel, can be recommended without hesitation. Nothing to complain about.
frienddly,clean, good price,
comfortable rooms, nice facilities, nice surroundings, quietness, friendly staff
Excellent countryside location, yet accessible to enchanting Tuscan city nothing
The setting is beautiful and the hotel has a lovely tuscan country feel about it. The pool and gardens were nice and the breakfast good. Some of the rooms are close to the road but there is not much traffic until morning.
Everything was fantastic, the hotel staff are very nice and the lovely lady that prepare brakefast is very sweet. Also tge location is ideal to drive around.
location (5km to highway firenze -siena); quality rooms; breakfast staff. noise of rooms (especially the ones above the kitchen); allthough landscape-view from the swimmingpool is beautiful, the view of the rooms and restaurant is limited
Very friendly hotel staff, good food, good service, very nice environment and view. Centrally located near all the tourist attractions in Tuscane.
Good location, big rooms. Stupid rules about charging costs if some food eated in the room or if some own beverages were put in the minibar!
helpful staff good breakfast not enough sun loungers around the pool no suitable eating options for children no room service
its a great hotel in a perfect location, with great service, the staff is very friendly and very helfull.
We made the reservation as we had been invited for a lunch by friends in Tavarnelle. The hotel was a very nice surprise; very comfortable room.
Beautiful hotel. Nice views, location. Good price at €100. for a dble. Although beautifully presented, breakfast was skimpy. I love coffee, and this was the worst I've tasted (outside of Austria). Very much a hotel, and not a charming country house as I had thought.
Very good location if your want to visit the Chianty Valley a the near by towns (Siena, San Gimignano, even Pisa). Very good restaurant with good service and friendly staff.. Some of the activities advertise by the Hotel (horse ridding, hot air ballon trips, etc.) are not provided by the Hotel itself, they are near by activities, and in some cases the staff at the reception did not have the information about them or about happenings in the area.
The place in the center of Toskana, The beautiful hotel, The view from the hotel and the nice resterant Nothing
Enchanting, rustic, excellent cuisine, breath-taking location
Superb location - midway between Florence and Sienna in beautiful quiet setting Going home!
The quietness of the estate, the swimming pool surrounded by the nature, the private terrace in our room Cheap furniture in our small room, staff not so friendly, quality of service average, not well kept (road to access the hotel, walk path around the hotel for instance), not fulfilling the expectations of a 4 stars hotel.
The location of the hotel was excellent. In a walking area, in Chianty wine district and near a lot of historical places like Sienna (in hot summers, you can probably escape to this place). The hotel service is kind and helpfull. Our stay was partly in low season and partly high season. In high season the price was higher and the service went down as if they did not expect more people. In the restaurant (of the hotel) this was annoying. We would recommend to stay in the restaurant once or twice during your stay. It was ok, but in a distance of a few km there are a lot of other nice restaurants.
scenery, food walking trails pools quiet authentic buildings & decor it was wonderful
Unrivalled peace and tranquility in a unique setting which was the perfect base for sightseeing in central Tuscany.
We stayed in Primavera Apartment, Bedrooms were spacious and pleasant decor. Nice Location The bath was dated and tiny with a low pressure shower above. Storage for toiletries was inside the shower area and therefore got wet. Not a suitable layout or pleasant experience.
The gorgeous location in rolling hills of Tuscany as well as the beautiful historical and intimate buildings of La Canonica with their comfortable, relaxing outside garden & pool facilities. Serenity reigns in this private, tucked-away spot. All its facilities, esp. the breakfast room, are more beautiful than pictured online. It would be nice to have the breakfast room opened/served before 8am for those needing to get an early start.
The general setup, the living room, the swimming pool and lawn, the dining room The bathtub was not comfortable , the water pressure was too low, the room was too dark
Just Excellent !
Beautiful place and lanscape
The hospitality was wonderful. Staff were excellent, particularly erica in sorting out stuff for us. The place itself is gorgeous and in a lovely part of the world. Thankyou.
This place is magnificent. We stayed in Villa Castrum. The design and quality of interior of our apartment and common areas in the villa is exceptional. The views and the surrounding area are very beautiful. Great value for money and absolutely beautiful experience. In Marco Polo apartment we were delighted to see a dryer machine, but it was not functioning properly.
Very nice place, with good breakfast. additional charges during the breakfast
Staff very friendly initially, making you feel very welcome. Floors coldish & no in-room ironing facilities.
It’s quite difficult to say what we like best since everything was just perfect: the hospitality of our hosts and the friendly staff that made us feel at home, the wonderful, charming property exceptionally restored with beautiful gardens and pool, combined with the perfect location in the heart of the Chianti region. We can hardly wait to return. Many thanks to our hosts Lucia and Stefano! -
the staff were very helpfull and fun the hotel had a quiet relaxed atmosphere, the pool was beautiful and the view from our room was incredible, we loved our short stay and want to come again soon. our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke, and the beds were not too comfy, but these are small problems that did not spoil our enjoyment at all.
Modern, clean, lovely grounds in countryside setting. Excellent access to Chianti region as well as Siena and Florence. Close to several good restaurants. Accommodating staff. nice swimming pool and sit out area . You need to have a car as outside the town of Tavarnelle and too far to walk. The staff was excellent in terms of offering advice on local information. The room was very nice and clean. The hotel staff was kind and helpfull. The breakfast service which was included was really good. There was a fair amount of traffic noise which was audible in the garden/pool area but was not a problem in the bedroom.
Very good location, very good breakfast restaurant would be a big plus
One of the best hotels we have visited on our 14 day trip through Italy. Staff is very friendly throughout the entire hotel. They clearly like their job! Easy to find although my car navigation equipment was not very helpful initially. The (independent) trattoria next to the hotel is slow in serving food. Better take another restaurant in San Donato for example.
Good service and friendly English-speaking staff. Bathroom equipment is in a good shape.
Excellent service, clean room, good breakfast
We really enjoyed our stay here and I would not hesitate to recommend it. The hotel is well located in the heart of Chianti, within easy reach of Florence and Siena. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room had been recently decorated and was spotlessly clean. The incuded continental breakfast was really good and although the hotel does not have its own restaurant, there is a great pizzaria/restaurant just next door. The hotel is quite close to the superstrada, which makes it easy to reach anywhere, but the downside is there is some traffic noise.
The reception staff were excellent, very professional, helpful & had all spoke very good English. They provided very useful information & maps for visiting Florence and Chianti region. The whole hotel was smart & clean. It was very well located for visiting Florence, Siena & the Chianti region. We had our own car, but for those that don't, there are buses to Florence that leave from very close by. There is a free to use, secure, fenced off car park next to the hotel. Although located right next to the Superstrada (duel carriage way) you wouldn't know being inside the hotel. Very good soundproofing. Breakfast buffet excellent. The Wifi in our room was a bit hit & miss. Worked OK though after we asked the receptionist to re-set the modem. There was no option to keep our towels for the stay. They were changed every day, which is a tad wasteful. Most hotels these days change only the ones that are left on the floor.
It was a lovely place but not very close to the main wine region - a good 15 minute drive away. The staff, especially the manager were not very helpful as we wanted to arrange some activities. Also not much to eat in the area - you really need a car to stay here! The manager was rude and unhelpful, patronising and one of the only staff to speak proper english.
the room was very clean and the staff very helpful. In a good position in the tuscan countryside.
the room had not any view of the hills and wifi internet wasnt there
I like how the whole hotel looks, buildings with surrounding. Very romantic place and very italian.
Beautiful landscape, quiet, comfortable, friendly atmosphere. The hotel seems to be a former little vilage of Tuscany, which gives the perfect atmosphere for those wishing to experience a real Tuscany experience. We traveled with locals from Tuscany which all agreed that the hotel has a very authentic decoration of a tipical Villa Toscana. Definitaly recommended to enjoy the Tuscany country side. It was indeed quite difficult to find as there was not enough signs throughout the road. Shower had no curtains which made it quite difficult to enjoy a nice shower without wetting the whole bathroom.
Great location in the beautiful Tuscan country side. The owners are nice and the restaurant on site is absolutely brilliant. The old borgo is fantastic for anyone with an interest in history. I wold recommend it to anyone.
The lady in charge, kind and helpful
Well situated, calm place, nice view on the valley. Classical "we cannot accept credit card, there is a problem in the machine, please pay cash!" problem..
Peaceful restful good location good centre for visiting Florence and Siena and all of Chianti lovely scenic situation no
I loved the view from our room and from the grounds. I loved the charm of the place itself. The woman managing on her own while the owners were away was exceptional in friendliness and cuisine and helpfullness. No
This is a very nice country mansion with a perfectly maintained territory with an olive garden, a pool, sitting areas. It has a wonderful view over Chianti vineyards and Castellina in Chianti. The personnel is very welcoming and makes you feel like at your friends' house Signage on the main road needs improvement: it says "Palazzolo" + the hotel sign, instread of "Podere Palazzolo"
It is a great place to stay in Tuscany. We had a nice spacious room with a splendid view (changed from a standard to a superior to have the view). It is quiet, relaxing and beautiful. Laura (the owner)) is there all the time and very kind and helpful. It is possible to have your dinner there, not a huge menu, but nice and simple food, prepared by the owner herself. For sure we will return when possible. We would have liked aircondition or just a fan in the room (maybe upon request it is possible to ask for a fan up front) Be aware that the owner does not accept kreditcards - only cash.
we liked the service the staff was wonderfull
The courtesy and suggestions of the staff, the breakfast and the location. Close to the Siena-Florence high way and to the Chianti area..
Location Poor breakfast and poor Wi-FI
The location is ideal for touring the area. The staff were very friendly, the room comfortable.
Good value for money GPS could not find the address. Took an extra half hour to find it.
Nice staff. Friendly and good command of english No
Very Clean and confort, good breakfast, good attencion and 15 km to San Gimigliano The hotel is into a comercial centre and don't have a good sign to find it, and were is the entance, the GPS didn't find the number of the adress.
good price, clean and comfortable rooms, large car park, position between Siena and San Gimignano. you need a car, because it is a couple of km from the main city (Poggibonsi), however visiting without a car this area with so many beautiful cities and villages on the top of the hills is impossible.
Nice pool and atmosphere Difficult to find, tom tom took me abot 20km away, needs some better signs.
