We were disappointed with the hotel. Access was bizarrely through an empty room sometimes used for breakfast I suspect. Our room was fine and clean, but had no outdoor space and the hotel was more like a guest lodge. No facilities other than the pool. Not as good as we were expecting for the price.
the breakfast is good (croissant hot from the oven) shower is broken! there is not hair dryer, no cups to drink・・・・ not comfortable.
Charming small hotel with cozy and international athmosphere. Very nice and helpful staff. It was nice to relax by the pool. There was a bus connection to San Gimignano, but it was also possible to walk there in 20 minutes.
The view of the city was great. Staff was very nice. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Small shower in bathroom.
Peace, comfort, location, service.
The Terass with a view on the toscane
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They catered to our every whim at breakfast and even drew maps for us to get around Tuscany. The location was perfect as well.
A pool Traffic Noise, Pockey Room, No Refridgerator and no means of Refreshments
Perfectly situated in rural Tuscany. Very good breakfast, room was enormous.
During my 15 days trips around Tuscany, this was the best accomodation I've stayed! The house is amazing, very rustic, cosy. The rooms are big and very comfortable. Becouse it was autumn, I think the quantity of guest is less, so there was no breakfast available. I saw there was estrutucture for breakfast (kitchen, table, space), but it was not working. It was a little bad for us, cause the hotel was 10 km from San Gimignano, and we had to go there to have breakfast. It was not a real problem, but we felt sorry for not using the kind breafast room and the marvellous garden. But, ok.
Just Excellent !
We stayed in Primavera Apartment, Bedrooms were spacious and pleasant decor. Nice Location The bath was dated and tiny with a low pressure shower above. Storage for toiletries was inside the shower area and therefore got wet. Not a suitable layout or pleasant experience.
It’s quite difficult to say what we like best since everything was just perfect: the hospitality of our hosts and the friendly staff that made us feel at home, the wonderful, charming property exceptionally restored with beautiful gardens and pool, combined with the perfect location in the heart of the Chianti region. We can hardly wait to return. Many thanks to our hosts Lucia and Stefano! -
This place is magnificent. We stayed in Villa Castrum. The design and quality of interior of our apartment and common areas in the villa is exceptional. The views and the surrounding area are very beautiful. Great value for money and absolutely beautiful experience. In Marco Polo apartment we were delighted to see a dryer machine, but it was not functioning properly.
The gorgeous location in rolling hills of Tuscany as well as the beautiful historical and intimate buildings of La Canonica with their comfortable, relaxing outside garden & pool facilities. Serenity reigns in this private, tucked-away spot. All its facilities, esp. the breakfast room, are more beautiful than pictured online. It would be nice to have the breakfast room opened/served before 8am for those needing to get an early start.
The hospitality was wonderful. Staff were excellent, particularly erica in sorting out stuff for us. The place itself is gorgeous and in a lovely part of the world. Thankyou.
Very nice place, with good breakfast. additional charges during the breakfast
Staff very friendly initially, making you feel very welcome. Floors coldish & no in-room ironing facilities.
The general setup, the living room, the swimming pool and lawn, the dining room The bathtub was not comfortable , the water pressure was too low, the room was too dark
Beautiful place and lanscape
I loved the view from our room and from the grounds. I loved the charm of the place itself. The woman managing on her own while the owners were away was exceptional in friendliness and cuisine and helpfullness. No
It is a great place to stay in Tuscany. We had a nice spacious room with a splendid view (changed from a standard to a superior to have the view). It is quiet, relaxing and beautiful. Laura (the owner)) is there all the time and very kind and helpful. It is possible to have your dinner there, not a huge menu, but nice and simple food, prepared by the owner herself. For sure we will return when possible. We would have liked aircondition or just a fan in the room (maybe upon request it is possible to ask for a fan up front) Be aware that the owner does not accept kreditcards - only cash.
This is a very nice country mansion with a perfectly maintained territory with an olive garden, a pool, sitting areas. It has a wonderful view over Chianti vineyards and Castellina in Chianti. The personnel is very welcoming and makes you feel like at your friends' house Signage on the main road needs improvement: it says "Palazzolo" + the hotel sign, instread of "Podere Palazzolo"
Peaceful restful good location good centre for visiting Florence and Siena and all of Chianti lovely scenic situation no
The lady in charge, kind and helpful
Well situated, calm place, nice view on the valley. Classical "we cannot accept credit card, there is a problem in the machine, please pay cash!" problem..
good location, close to amazing san gimignano and to other places in toscana. the pool is a bit shallow
The host 'Alexandro' was very helpful and provided helpful information to us on what to do and see in the area. When he held a tuscan cuisine evening the food and wine was just fabulous - an unforgettable night. The setting was peaceful and also there was a very lovely pool. We had a very relaxing experience.
Kind and flexible host. Large pool. Nice and calm place after having stayed in Firenze and Sienna. Good food. Couldnt find any method to regulate the aircon.
Set in the hills of Tuscany, this 17th century farmhouse has been remodeled and is absolutely gorgeous. About a 5 minute drive from the nearest town, it offers peace and quiet. We loved the winery it's on; you could imagine how it would have been 400 years ago. Very comfortable room with good sized bathroom. Nice breakfasts, friendly staff. Would go back in a heartbeat. Only downsides were: no iron/ironing board available, nor was there a hair dryer. If I owned a hotel, these items would be in every room! I can't imagine that we're the only travelers with wrinkly clothes....
The setting couldn't be any more beautiful. If you're looking for a vacation in Tuscany, you won't be disappointed. The property is very old but beautifully maintained. Disappointed we couldn't stay another night!
We liked everything about this hotel. It was the best we stayed in during our stay in Tuscany and considering we booked it at the last minute we had a very lucky find indeed! Alessandro the Proprietor was more than helpful and attentive, a charming man with excellent English . The room was superb, extrememeely clean, spacious and very very pretty. The food was to die for and we particularly liked the "Taste of Tuscany" evening which was arranged on our arrivval plus the the wine kept on flowing, all included in the price! Just wonderful. The hotel had a real feel of Tuscany and had soul in bucketfuls. Was very close to San Gimignano, about 5 minutes drive away. So all in all a superb little Tuscan gem. Highly recommended. Nothing not to like.
We liked the hospitality of the hotel as well as excellen dinners served by Alessandro - tipical Tuscan food and atmosphere.
The location for what we we're looking for and beauty was fantistic Alessandro was also very helpful in giving us some great suggestions on places to see and a great restaurant to go to Was very happy with our stay
With our rental vehicle we were able to travel from our very comfortable "home" at Il Casale del Cotone to many interesting towns and wineries nearby. The casale was full of history and charm, each room being unique in its features. We loved the hospitality and the beauty of this beautiful country hotel. The swimming pool looked very inviting but it was already a bit too cool as we were there in early October.
Alessandro the manager was very pleasant and the room was beautiful and very clean. It is superbly located but you will need a car to get into San Gimignano.
The location of the hotel was perfect, being outside the tourist area of San Gimignano, but having views of the lovely old town. It was quiet, peaceful and the staff were helpful and pleasant. Not given enough bath towels - we had to ask for more.
The location is across the valleys from San Gigmignano and the views are stupendous. There is a restaurant just down the road from there a nd we ate there almost every nght . The food was good and the people were very friendly. I found the management not very congenial, perhaps the language was a problem..
Perfect in all its ways! Very helpfull staff Staff isn't always around or sometimes hard to find
Location, breakfast, large pool
The hotel really is as prettily located as it seems on the pictures. The swimming pool (deep enough for diving) has the most amazing view of San Gimignano. If you're up for it, and don't mind the heat, there's a road next to the wine fields leading to the city after about 20 minutes walk. Don't forget to bring water. The podere has a good parking place, nice breakfast served every morning and each room has its own little table and chairs outside to sit in. I had expected two things, which turned out to be incorrect. They do not produce their own wine on-site (although they have bottles from nearby vineyards for sale) and there are no cooking facilities where you can prepare your meals (which is common in other agriturismos). Your pretty much only choice for dinner is the nearby restaurant (which turned out to be excellent though), unless you take a cab/drive to San Gimignano. The lady who was hosting when we were there didn't understand English, but was very nice and patient in trying to grasp my very limited Italian. This was a nice agriturismo, but I still feel the ratings here at booking.com are rather overrated.
The best view over the valley. A true Tuscan scene. Good swimming pool, breakfast was ok. Very quite location a few klm out of town San Giminano which has a castle theme. Great to explore and shop and eat. Room was small for a triple
The view of San Gimignano was incredible! The patio area and pool were very inviting, and made for a relaxing stay.
It is only a short drive from the main town and close enough to other areas to travel to by car Our room was quite dark
The hotel is in a lovely quiet location with a wonderful view over San Giminano. The breakfast was very enjoyable with a lovely selection of pastries and savoury local food. The weather was much warmer than we thought it would be so the swimming pool was a definite bonus staying at this hotel. There was a really good restaurant a short walk up the lane. The staff were very helpful. Unfortunately the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable
Good pool and stunning views of San Gimignano. Rooms comfortable and very clean.
coming and going as I pleased, use of rooftop terrace, ensuite bathroom and comfortable bed - and then there was the view from the bedroom window - stunning.
I loved this hotel and can not fault it in any way. Great room and views, staff, breakfast, cleanliness and possition. no
This is a great location with some interesting rooms and a great observation deck for viewing the San Gimignano. The staff needs to smile and be more greatful for guests. The Chambermaid was very accommodating and friendly. If it were not for her we would never have been able to check into the B&B when we did. We had stayed her before and loved the location. It was very noisey this trip because of a motorcycle racing through the narrow streets for over an hour. This is not the hotel's fault, but the towns problem. I would stay here again, but only in one of the two rooms on the garden level facing the garden. Smile next time and say happy you're here spending your money with us. Because you did not have your % off for eating in your rest. we eat somewhere else. Short sited, just because the concert was in town.
The views from the roof terrace and their fabulous, inexpensive restaurant (in town) Staff weren't always there, otherwise, nothing.
Lovely hotel, lovely location. Everything was just perfect. Already decided i will be returning to this hotel and have recommended it to family too. Can be difficult to find if you do not get a map from the restaurant Madragola which is owned by the same people
Large, clean room. Excellent garden. Prime position in town. Check-in time is limited and there are not always staff available in the hotel.
It was in the centre of the old town, with a lovely view from the roof-top terrace. The girl at reception was only in the guesthouse for and hour in the morning and then in the evening, and the front door was locked, so dont check in before 2pm or you will be left waiting outside the door. It was frustrating if you had a query, you could never guarantee she would be there, and if you locked yourself out, you had no hope!
It is right inside the town walls, close to the main square. The room was spacious and offered value for money. It is not airconditioned and as there were mosquitoes about, we could not open the window and the room was very stuffy for sleeping. The roof top terrace that we had read so much about was locked and inaccessible. Having to stop at the restaurant for directions cost us 2 euro in parking for 10 mins when they could easily put the instructions in an email. It is a ploy to get you to make a reservation there I think.
The style of the hotel. the rooms are small but very well decorated. The breakfast was plain! one choice of cereral. The same choice of bread cheese and cold meat every morning!! The sweet crossants were good but i would have preferred better cold cuts and better bread.
charming rooms, nice decor, nice location there is no one available at the front desk- after you check in; they give you a key for the front door, and disappear. we only saw the guy at breakfast time which, by the way, is only an hour ( 8:30- 9:30am). there is no wake up call service. there is not an alarm clock in the room, no electric kettle or safe either.
The hotel was great. The people were great and we chilled out It was quite remote, only 1 mile as the crow flies from S.G.but a taxi took 4.5 miles and cost 30 euros. We did not hire a car!
it was nice and quiet and relaxing it was a bit too quiet
They could arrange for more umbrellas around the swimming pool as there was only one.
Position was great The service was not very good, and the ownes smoke in the hotel
The fantastic view of San Gimignano from the pool - this is our sole reason for recommending the hotel. Our host was courteous but did the bare minimum, and his manner was not welcoming. The young woman who assisted him, however, was a pleasure to know. Little things, like the provision of a cork-screw and glasses, and perhaps a kettle that would have enabled us to make a drink during the day, would have enhanced our holiday.
everything - though the hotel was difficult to locate being down an unmade road and not sign-posted well. Better sign-posting would bring more visitors, I suspect no. we thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and will certainly return there.
We checked in early but it wasnt an issue, staff were friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast buffet. Beautiful setting with amazing views of the countyside and so peaceful. Large room and good facilities. The pool was closed when we were there. Need to be aware that it is a 10min drive or 60+ minute walk into San Gimignano from the hotel and will be inconvient for travellers without a car/transport.
The hotel was in a beautiful spot and the room was very comfortable. we had a nice breakfast and overall the staff were very nice and helpful. We did like that it was not busy. Our visit was at the end of the 'season' and it felt a little like we were tolerated more than wanted. ie the outside pool was not available and not much information was offered about local opportunities/wines etc. The staff overall were nice but again the owner appeared a little less interested than he might have been. The hotel is a little out of the way and at the end of the season it felt a little unwelcoming although it was also nice to be quiet. The dogs also barked during the night but it is on a farm after all.
location, house, rooms,
Friendly and polite staff, but unfortunately they don't speak english. Nice, clean room. It was messy around the pool - old chairs and an old scooter were left there, and the machine used to clean the pool was just left in the pool. The breakfast was not good - the bread was dry and the milk, ham and cheese were just left outside in the warm air (30 degrees) from 8.30 to 10.00.
