The village where Cal Sestre is located is picturesque but a bit of a tourist village. Lots of good hiking trails. Way over priced for the value of the hotel. The breakfast was poor with little variety. Noisy- especially one maid which we could hear on the third floor. Decor average. Would not recommend. Would not stay again. The affiliated restaurant was likewise overpriced and one of the waiters was very rude.
Lovely location in very attractive village of Santa Pau. Great views from garden. Handy for walking in La Garrontxa and also handy for our onward trip to Costa Brava.
The ambience and the location. There was no staff in attendance when we arrived at 4.00pm, eventually after checkin, about 30minutes later, there was again no staff around. This situation occured again on Sunday where we had to let ourselves inside. Consequently, we couldn't access the bar, make or recieve phone calls nor ask for ask for any assistance.
Fantastic location; very friendly and helpful staff; excellent breakfast Room was very hot, and no fridge
The rooms were okay but not sound proof. The bathroom was large and nice. The food in the hotel resturant was great!! No internet access in the room. No towel service for the pool or beach. We had to buy towels that we threw away because we had no room to carry in our luggage.
spacious rooms, food, location, bed service in restaurant (variable), staff seems to loose their good spirits on a busy night.
the breckfast nothing
Good safe parking. In a rather "run down" urban area.
To our surprise the room are small apartments with a small kitchen, bedroom, bath room and livingroom. Rooms are clean and the personnel is friendly and speak english. The hotel is a 15 min walk of the city center of Olot, which is a picturesque town with trendy shops and restaurants. The nearby volcano park offers a great surrouding for a walk along volcanos (very old ones which are completely overgrown by green and dont have the appearance of rough smoking mountains still hot from the lava below). A real pricewinner is the trip to Ribes de Freser were you can take the train to Vall de Nuria, a monastery build in a valley about 2000m above sea level. The train ticket is a bit expensive 20 euro pp (return ticket) but the ride is spectacular We had no negative experiences.
The friendly staff. Nice room.
The staff was excellent and did everything they could to make our stay in the hotel a pleasant experience
There was plenty of space and, though busy, it was very quiet. There was plenty of off road parking right outside and, although the tone of the area was not fantastic, it was only a 10 minute walk into the town. There was a very handy supermarket right opposite (we were "upgraded" into an appartment rather than the room we had booked. But that was great for us).
The staff at the reception and in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. This made our short stay most enjoyable! The breakfast selection was generous, and it was delicious. The passages to the parking garage were extremely tight and also very steep into the garage, making it somewhat difficult to maneuver even our small car. However, this was not a very important factor in our stay, thus only a minor problem.
Good place for the money. It is clean and you have your own room with air and your own bathroom. The parking outside is easy and it is a nice small town with close proximity to the park. The walls are thin as somebody mentioned, although if you turn the air on I found it to be fine. I would definitely stay here again.
