Herdade Do Azinhal is located near the picturesque Santa Clara-a-Velha village and has an outdoor pool. It features stone houses and offers free Wi-Fi and private parking on site. The traditionally decorated rooms offer a patio and a private bathroom with amenities. Herdade Do Azinhal offers a breakfast buffet. The surrounding area features hills with cork and holm trees plus offers several walking paths. Guests can also try hiking and cycling, or go fishing at the nearby dam waters. The white sand beaches and high cliffs of Costa Vicentina, are no more than 40 km away from the hotel. Herdade Do Azinhal Hotel is located 1.5 km from Santa Clara-a-Velha railway station, and less than 80 km away from Faro Airport.
On a bike holiday it is important to have a room in the right place and this was it. The rooms are pretty simple but at only Euro 50 a night it was fairly priced but probably Spring and Autumn
In November it can be 10C at night. Heating was limited to an electrical/oil heater. Ok for a small bedroom if left on for some hours, useless for a bathroom and no use at all for a sitting room. There is a big fire why not provide firewood?
Staff is very friendly to guests. Very calm place which is great for a relaxing stay.
Relation price/value: very expensive considering the offered conditions. Breakfast is served too late (starting only from 9:30 am) and the diverity is rather poor. A single leaving room is shared by all the guests but this space is most of the time used by the staff people, which I consider this as a lack of respec (the first day we entered into this space, a staff person was layed donw in the sofa taking a nap).
Good location just outside of the village with good views. This is a new complex so everything worked. Breakfast served on the terrace was a bonus and led us into talking with other guests. Free Wi-Fi. The village is great and the reservoir super. When all the wrinkles have been ironed out this could be a great get away from it place for a short break.
The Alentejo gets very hot in summer and there was no air-con or even a fan. No daily room service. Close to a working (?) farm so had bites/flies. Only local Portuguese was spoken by the only lady on site.
