Good value, easy access to airport, kitchenette stocked with essential dishes and pans, great place for a family to stay, close to the beach, parking was convenient Check-in was at a different location, it was a bit chilly, kitchen linens/dishsoap aren't provided
Excellent hospitality throughout our stay.Wonderful breakfast, cost extra but well worth it
Thoughtful attention to our every need. An elegant building furnished with character. The breakfast was astounding. We only booked for one night and hated to leave.
Lovely friendly service from the two ladies that operated the hotel. Beautiful surrounds in a large old mansion like home. The most spectacular breakfast so far on our holidays in Spain - all made by the hosts. A little way out of Cudillero - but within walking distance up the hill. Not applicable.
This charming inn was a delight and my hostesses were very warm and friendly. It was near a small fishing village with great seafood and on the camino north coast. The hotel had a wonderful breakfast in a lovely dining room featuring all homemade local and traditional foods- unparelled breakfast experience in my experience in Spain! Rooms were well-appointed, clean and decorated nicely. Great value here.. No. Everything was great and this hotel exceeded my expectations.
Extremely nice walk, 1.5 km, down to the picturesque town of Cudillo The walk might not suit everyone. Steep footpath into town
Receptionist very helpful. Room very clean and comfortable, also public rooms (those used) were comfortable and well furnished. Would probably stay here again although there isn't much in the village so one needs a car. We wanted to stay for breakfast but the breakfast start time was late so we were unable to eat there. Breakfast starting at about 0830 would have suited us better as we had a long drive ahead of us. It's a pity they didn't offer a restaurant service.
impressive reception area, comfortable room, good air conditioning very poor breakfast in cheap and cheerful surroundings for four star hotel. difficult to find
One of the best hotels that I've ever visited in Spain. Very cosy atmosphere, friendliest staff, extremely beautiful building and wonderful garden around it.
A great deal of thought and effort seemed to have been put into creating a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. It would have been easier for me if the staff spoke better English.
Beautifully restored old "manor" house, lovely room and great breakfast. Parking in grounds. Would love them to do evening meals
A lovely peaceful clean enviroment and excelletn food. Hotel excellent but in very quiet area and if staying for longer periods may fancy a change of resturant or bar.....
We liked everything, specially the food at the restaurant.
It was a grand place to stay. Pleasant and quiet surroundings. It was elegant and beautifully decorated.
Very friendly staff, beautiful hotel, and excellent food. Also very easy to find and only a short drive from the airport.
The spa was very relaxing after a long drive around the Picos de Europa and a really lovely hotel It would have been excellent if they had provided a swimming pool as well. I would have preferred a pool to the spa. No sign of anyone to help with our luggage either arriving or departing which was not a problem for us but I would have expected a bell boy role in a hotel of this excellent quality
Hotel was in great place, very clean, excellent breakfast. Very kind for going with your family or in a romantic trip
Beautiful hotel with fabulous decor. The bedroom, was large, luxurious and clean. Polite and helpfull staff. The breakfast and dinner were extremely good and the waitress very helpful. Stunning views from the hotel. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Beautiful coastal views a short drive away.
The quiet and tranquilty. Charming and helpful staff. Good breakfast . Excellent spa facility. Good views Breakfast room not well signed. It would have been helpful to havea note in the room explaining that one could go to spa in dressing robe and how to get there
Hotel has been renovated to a very high standard and has an excellent restaurant - we had a very enjoyable dinner there. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
The junior suite was beautifully furnished and decorated, quiet, and extremely comfortable for a small family. Great value for money. The quality of food and standard of service in the restaurant was also very good and childrens meals were available. Due to the hotel's location in a small village, there were few dining alternatives, requiring us to eat in the very nice but rather expensive hotel restaurant, or drive to a nearby village.
The main reason for choosing this hotel was its location. It was situated almost exactly halfway on a long journey. However, I was very pleased with my stay and with the proprietor who was very helpful to a travellor who spoke very little Spanish. Directions were difficult to follow and signage could be improved.
Excelente trato del personal, muy amable y atento. Un edificio muy bonito y tranquilo, y unas zonas comunes (salones) preciosas. Si tuviera que poner una pega diría que es un poco complicado dar con el hotel, quizás faltaría alguna señalización.
Hotel is very beautiful it is not easy to find
Wonderful cosy place in Asturias countryside. Good food, pretty rooms and helpful staff. Recommended!
Beautifull place , original decor and great comfort . Peacefull location . Signage to find Hotel .
Very friendly hotel. Interesting rooms and the restaurant was very fairly priced if you did not want to hunt down an external one. Hotel easy to find
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was great. Rooms were big. Breakfast could be more varied.
Attractive rustic decor and quiet location. Difficult to find (unhelpful directions). Restaurant evening menu only had about 9 expensive items, so forced to eat in village. Poor breakfast: no milk for cereals, little choice poorl staffed. Poor value for money.
We had the most relaxing stay at Hotel Monte Somao. The country setting was lovely, our room looked out onto a field with a mare and her foal, with the Atlantic ocean in the background. The room was so clean and beautifully presented, we thought it was a brand new hotel. But the owners, a most welcoming husband and wife, said it was two years old. The breakfast spread was as good as we've had in Europe, including fresh fruit and peaches, sweet pastries and other delights. The hotel was a little hard to find, up some very windy streets, but the hillside village of Samoa is a friendly one. We started to get to know some of the locals after just one night. The restaurant/gallery across the road was very good eating and a great meeting place.
Very clean. Helpfull people. Big parking. Ideal if you come by car. Close to airport. Still close to beach and town. Very quiet area.
We sholud stay 2 nights in this hotel, but we left afte first night beacuse we didn't like anything about this hotel. The receptionists were fair enough and we payed just for the night that really slept at the hotel.. We didn't like the hotel, it's in middle of nowhere, it seems like a motel for truck drivers. The room was nov very clean and the room's door didn't close well. It's also too expensive for the given comfort
The building itself is superb, finished to an extremely high quality. The views from nearly all windows were glorious. The proprietor was polite and friendly. The food was fresh and superbly cooked. What more can you say. Brilliant.
This hotel is absolutely lovely. It's a newly restored country house that is impeccably tasteful and elegant with a little modern edge. Set among lush hills with beautiful ocean views, it's an absolute gem of a place. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. An added perk: each room comes with a flat screen/dvd player and they offer an amazing selection of moves to borrow. No. It's perfection.
Tomas has created a welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful building with stunning views. He has attended to every detail. The excellent evening meals round the package off perfectly.
Thomas the owner was so helpful and accomodating. The food and quality of this place/ experience just fantastic. It is hard to find so they need to provide better directions.Highly recommended!! Hard to find and some distance from the coast and any local village
The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. The owners were extremely helpful. Views from our terrace were stunning. An excellent base for exploring the area. Not so easy to find.
The owners made us both feel very welcome and were keen to share their knowledge of the area with us. The hotel has a very warm comfortable atmosphere and we felt totally relaxed there. It is a beautiful location with far reaching views and we had an enjoyable dinner both evenings in the hotel - excellent home cooking!
The proprietors are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. They speak perfect English and gave us lots of useful advice on where to go and what to see, The setting is peaceful and scenic. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms very clean. It was difficult to find on the first day but well worth it!
More like staying as a guest at someones's house than a hotel. Great owners.
the owners of the hotel are very kind and friendly and the room was very nice. We had breakfast in the garden and the environment around the hotel is wonderfull
fantastic location, very hospitable owners
We loved the room we had, the decor of the hotel and the opportunity to use the Terrace (outside), the library/reading room and the living room. We liked its location.
There was nice attention to detail, e'g' lillies at reception and a small water feature as you arrive, friendly receptionist. The room was clean, has windows you can open, classical period decoration and lots of hot water (good shower). Good location nr harbour and centre of town. Breakfast, was not served until 9am, a bit inconvinient as we had early appointments.
A charming hotel with character centrally located with easy access to restaurants, bars and the waterfront. There is no car park and you have to find somewhere suitable yourself which can be tricky. We parked a 5 minute walk away which could be a problem if you have lots of luggage and/or visit in the height of the season.
There was a relaxed atmosphere Parking could be a problem
The hotel was beautifully furnished with artistic touches. Whilst it was an old building, it had all the modern facilities expected such as free wifi and a fridge in room. By English standards, the breakfast was a little basic, but by Spanish standards, I am sure it was more than adequate.
very pleasant and clean obviously - owners are very proud of the hotel. Very nicely decorated with historical photos etc. No orange juice with breakfast as we had booked through booking.com
Nothing Yes, the staff members were not very friendly, and the breakfast menu very limited.
Facilities were good; interesting touches in hotel. Staff not very friendly; breakfast only just adequate though saved by delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. We found free street parking nearby but were lucky - obviously can be difficult.
Charming and beautifullly restored hotel in a perfect setting for a quiet holiday. Staff were efficient and friendly.
Authentic Spanish feel to the hotel. Exquisite building and furnishings. Very helpful staff.
A beautiful old building, traditional and comfortable, centrally located. The food in the restaurant was wonderful, and the staff fantastic.
The view was spectacular! We loved the natural decor and private balcony. I noted in the Lonely Planet guide that it said the hotel was "ugly". I disagree and thoroughly loved it. All paradors do not have to be historic stone structures! The view far out-weighed the need for utilizing a historic building. I did not like the playground equipment outside the window. It spoiled the natural feel of the mountain view.
it was relatively quiet the pool was not available, the gymn was locked, the jacuzi was unavailable
Slightly bizarre but fun
The Villa is an old house that has been very tastefully restored. Our room was large, the beds were very comfortable, everything worked well in the bathroom, the large windows opened on to a pleasant view including another period house opposite. The Villa is set on high ground above and to the east of the lovely small town of Luarca, within a 10 minute walk or a 5 minute drive and park. There is a small swimming pool with sun loungers that we used on one afternoon, plus a spa and a weights room. We had 4 very pleasant nights there. During the day it was easy to get to a number of good beaches not far away, or to visit a city like Gijon. Apart from the price, which seemed a little expensive compared with others that we found on this trip, the only small criticism I would make is of the breakfast. At a hotel charging this rate I would expect a proper buffet breakfast instead of the three different types offered. However, if these aren't to one's taste, Luarca has some very good places where you can buy exactly what you want.
Lovely room with view over town to sea. Helpful staff
LOvely room, beatiful gardens Bit out of the way and hard to find
Sauna in the spa was excellent. Staff was not very professional and did not speak english well.
visit was very disappointing due to reason below Rock concert started at 11 and went on until 4,30 am which did not make for a good night sleep.! We had intended to stay for two days but cut short the stay and checked out. It is very unfair for the hotel not to allert customers to such events, as the following day of our holdiay was a write off due to tiredness.
Good facilities, quiet and clean. Easy to find from road. Helpful staff.
good hotel, good breakfast, easy parking, nice rooms , friendly reception thr service in the restaurant and bar could be more friendly. For non smokers it is a terrible place as the door from the seperated smoking room was never closed.
Great location for area attractions and nearby restaurant and bars. Swimming pool welcome. Bit too far to walk into Cudillero for evening meals.
good access to the main coast road. Spacious room, nice pool, good breafast. Restaurant was seperate and accross a car park
We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival, this hotel is such a beauty, superbly designed, we enjoyed every minute of our stay! Hotel staff is very friendly, great breakfast, overall excellent.
Very pleasant hotel. Very nice big room and nicely appointed bathroom. Good breakfast. Relatively close to town - suggest driving about 5-7 minutes, walking to town is not a good idea especially at night. Request a room not facing the main highway if you want quiteness. Overall very good value for the money we paid. Receptionist didn't speak good English - made it a bit hard to communicate.
Our room was very large and comfortable. The view was great, and Cudillero was a short (~20 minute) walk away.
when found easy acces for all not easy to find
It's location close to everything we wanted to do. Very noisy, although in the countryside this was spoilt by the proximity of the motorway.
Difficult to find, no facilities, inadequate breakfast. Booked for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 - enoughd said?
Excellent room facilities-reception helpfull. Its a small place with what I think is a very good resturant but because its small its noisy-we were there on a sat night and there was audible noise till abt 2am
Very friendly host. Our room was large, well furnished, and clean. Food was very good if a little on the expensive side by comparison. No separate inside lounge or bar area. No other restaurants/facilities within easy walking distance, although not far by car.
Arrived early on a Saturday when dining room was full of happy looking eaters but hotelier and staff welcoming and obliging even though they were busy. Room was fine if a little ornate. Got the impression that this was better known as a restaurant rather than a hotel. Most would probably find it too far to walk to the nearby pretty fishing village of Cudillero. The hotel guest menu looked appealing, especially as it included white wine and mineral water but it was only after I ordered that I realised my first course of mussels came in a full sauce amounting to a soup and that the second "vizcaina" cod course also came in the same sauce and in huge quantities so i couldn't finish the meal. Despite the name I think they could offer more non-fish alternatives. Also at breakfast every table got a huge plate of ham, cheese, cakes, bread etc which no one table was able to consume; it would be far less wasteful to provide a buffet where people could help themselves to the amount they wanted.
Terrific building and lovely restaurant no
Fun to stay in a castle, room was fine, staff were friendly despiote the lack of a common language. It was a shame that the restaurant wasn't open, but I guess they deserve a night off once in a while - it was a Sunday.
It is a 'one-off' place staying in a restored castle. It is the only place to stay in Salas really. Standards of cleanliness etc were high but a bit disappointed with the restaurant food in the evening. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were very small but this was due the size of the castle and could not be changed.
Lovely old building; great location in the heart of Salas; really feeling we were off the beaten track in rural Spain
We enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel ,its historical association and the wooded areas around.
Food good and Interior courtyard very pretty No Pool
Very friendly and professional staff. Lovely place to stay!! I do wish they would get rid of the cowbell on the keys because they are too noisy!
Convenient location near shops, beach, port. Simple, clean rooms with good bath/shower rooms. Bedroom walls a bit thin
Very friendly staff, very good room, good value.
The central location in the town of Luarca Not a fault of the hotel but the free public parking for Luarca is a long walk from the hotel and the local signage in the town was very unhelpful - it would direct you so far then 'leave you for dead' in the last few hundred meters!
the location was pretty good and there was free parking very nearby grotty and old, unfriendly staff
Good situation in centre of town Poor lighting - impossible to read in room comfortably
Spotlessly clean throughout. All staff were helpful, friendly and informative, without their professionalism we would have missed some gems. Maybe having to ask for the room heating to be turned on was a little demeaning, however, once on it was perfect!
breakfast was very good, huge, organic and home cooked. The owner was very kind and helpfull. though we had been told there was a very good resturant,it was in fact closed. The owner said she could not find a manager. There are many good resturants in the village, but the one that was closed is said to be the best.
Very nice room with large and very comfortable bed, lovely setting in the heart of a fishing village. Helpful and cheerful staff. The lack of parking (though understandable and expected) was a little bit inconvenient
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent home made breakfasts. Good base for exploring the beaches, fishing port and Picos foothills. Good tapas nearby in Meson Timon. Hotel restaurant closed. The recommended alternative (Isabelle in the main square) was expensive and poor quality.
A very warm welcome [on a very wet day!] and a spotlessly clean room, with good facilities. The steep flight of steps up to the hotel make it difficult to bring luggage up and would rule it out completely for travellers with physical disabilities.
The high standard of accommodation and the friendliness of the staff
The location of he hotel is fantastic and we enjoyed walking up and down the narrow streets and pathways. The staff were great
Room, facilties, breakfast area and breakfast service- the restuarant is really beautiful! Web site indicated that the restaurant was open in the evenings but they were very clear that it was closed. We were however able to eat very nearby at a good choice of restaurants . We do speak some very basic Spanish bit still found it hard to understand all the intructions offered by the receptionist when we booked in! The room key did not work .
The hotel was very well situated near all the bars and restaurants and well sign posted, the staff were very frienly although speak little english they were as helpful as possible. The hotel was clean and tidy and we would stay there again.
Friendliness and helpfulness of owners was exceptional - they took us to the railway station when taxis were unavailable. Very good choice of breakfast [which cost extra]
Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room was delightful. Location was perfect, right in the heart of Cudillero.
Room was comfortable, but the reception area cramped as was the dining room. Would say more of a pension than a hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful but did not speak any English at all. Thankfully, we did not pay for breakfast which appeared to be a packet of cake (not fresh) and cornflakes. Overall, nice room but nothing special. Cramped reception area and very tiny dining room (also used as an entrance/exit). Room had poor view.
Great comfortable, clean and cosy apartment. The hosts were lovely and friendly as well as being very helpful.
Excellent location in centre of fishing village, clean rooms and friendly staff
This is the second time that we have stayed here. It is a family-run hotel and very friendly. However, it helps if you speak Spanish. The jacuzzi is an interesting yet welcoming feature after a long walk by the port which is a 3 minute walk away.
Location near the harbour; ease of access to the room at any time; proximity to variety of restaurants. The rather cramped location of the building with resultant lack of any view from the bedroom window. The slightly cramped bedroom space due to low ceiling height.. This was also the most expensive of the hotels we booked on this trip and probably the least enjoyable.
The service was above and beyond expectations. The owners were incredibly nice and helpful. The food was beautiful and nothing was too much trouble. I will definately stay here again. No.
This is a gem of a guest house. Magnificent scenery and the owners help with advice to make the most of your atay.Fodd was excellent. There is nothing to do in the evenings but this can be a plus when you have been sightseeing all day.
Staff very accomodating. Restaurant excellent. None
We enjoyed the food and presentation of the dining room, the decor, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff No
A lovely family run hotel. A real gem. Good accommodation and a wonderful restaurant - one of the best meals we had all holiday. Breakfast was great also.
staff, accommodation and quality of food were all excellent. the "garden" was a small area of overgrown land with broken-down play equipment - not exactly safe or welocming for kids!
very helpfull sister owners, with local knowlege and advice for visiting beaches near by as well as major towns breakfast could be more interesting
Very friendly staff; warm welcome. clean! Nicely designed room. Excellent restaurant: good breakfast. We had two eveng meals, both V. good. Good wine list, Mari Mar V. knowledgable about local wines. Also really enjoyed having access to the library. Nice to stay in a building with an interesting history too!
Made to feel very welcome by pleassnt and courteous staff. Excellent food. Smell of cigarette smoke in corridors coming from designated smoking lounge.
